Ruth's Chris did not disappoint. We've been to a few but this was the first time at this one. The food was very good. The only thing was underwhelming was the chopped salad. It is presented in a cylinder shape. I'm not quite sure why it is even called chopped salad. It was wilty and nothing like better chopped salads at other places. They have to improve the bar offering. The old fashioned did not live up to the level of the steaks they present. Crushed ice instead of the nice large clear cube of ice, which ended up watering down the drink. An area to improve for sure. read more

The staff was lovely, this is not an indictment of them. But whoever had the idea of putting prime meat on a 500' plate is out of their flipping mind. $70 for a prime cut of meat, ordered rare, served on a 500' plate?! The meat against the bone was gray, the rest of the steak was practically white. Serving on a 500' plate means that no matter what temperature you order it will not be what you eat. It took me 3 bites to think "holy crap this is still cooking" and I was left with a gray steak. I have to travel and was late so I didn't reorder but this was the worst $70 I think I've spent outside of a sporting event concession stand, but at least there I get to watch a game with my meal. 8/22/24 We choose to mix business with pleasure. Celebrating my husband's coworker Allen's and mine early (26th). The Mishawna location atmosphere was beautiful (we are natives of Cali and Canada). Our server was elegant and delivered with perfect timing. Everyone ordered different meals: 2 choice of steaks, salmon, seabass, lobster mac, calamari, brussel sprouts, asparagus, Cesar and the towered chopped salads. We shared our selections, and were are enticed by each others presentations. Everyone was equally delighted with each taste of our dishes and cocktails. As always, the service is wonderful, and I had some exceptional appetizers, salad was excellent, the steak was cooked exactly the way that I liked, but I don't think it was prime? I had some gristle and a prime filet shouldn't have any for $54 for the steak alone. I've eaten here before and always had a great steak so this might've been a fluke unfortunately I was with company or I would've sent it back and asked for a new one which I don't usually do. I called and personally made a resrvation to sit outside on the covered patio. I have a confirmation for outdoor seating. Our party of 6 arrived and we were told that there is a wine tasting on the patio and that they will seat us in the bar. We dressed to sit outdoors not in a cold bar. The bar is small and really does not accommodate a party of 6 anyway. We declined the bar. They eventually offered to put us outside of the covered patio and we agreed only to hear that another party had that reserved (I heard the name but will not share) and that we cannot have that table...even though we have a reservation too. No apolgy from the four young people at the desk. They just looked at us. I told them that we would leave and go to another restaurant in the plaza. Not a word from any of the desk staff. We left. The other restaurant was very busy and was taking only reservations. I told them our predicament and they immediately accommodated us. Rocky River Tap and Table gets all of the kudos!! We live locally and frequented Ruth's Chris. We are very disappointed in our treatment last Friday evening. read more

The waiter brought the wrong meal to me. When I asked him to take other meals for my party back to keep warm he refused and said it would only be a few minutes. After 25 minutes I found a supervisor and got the correct meal soon after. He was shocked though when I asked for new sides since they were sitting on the table for 30 minutes. When my steak finally came was it good? Yes it was. At $150 a head though I really expected better. As far as an apology? Nope. It was just a shrug of the shoulder as if to say "things happen". I am not complaining about the wrong meal because mistakes do happen. My problem is with the dismissive way that it was handled. I also reached out to the restaurant to voice my concern because I did not want to post an unfavorable review but got crickets in return. Edit. Ruth's Chris was command central during Notre Dame graduation weekend for us, and they knocked it out of the park. The service and the food were excellent, despite the fact they had to handle an enormous number of reservations. They were even kind enough to allow us to make a few last minute adjustments to our plans. Just two short weeks after graduation, we were back for an unexpected funeral. On short notice they accommodated 35 of us for a private dinner. Given the occasion, they were very respectful of our privacy, while delivering first class steaks and seafood. read more

We dine at Ruth's Chris every year for our anniversary. Typically we visit the Grand Rapids location, but this year we decided to give South Bend a try. We brought our in laws who have never been. The service was sub-par, at best, which was especially disappointing considering the standard of service we're used to from RC. It took over ten minutes to get our drinks- a bottle of wine and two old fashions. My husband ordered the chopped salad and asked for no crispy onions as he has a shellfish allergy and can't risk cross contamination with fryers/oil. He confirmed the croutons on the salad were baked, not fried. I ordered the steakhouse salad. To our surprise, two chopped salads, both with crispy onions came to the table. We told the food runner that wasn't what we ordered, he looked confused when he took the plates and left. Eventually he came back with the correct salads. Our server never even acknowledged or apologized for the mixup. When food arrived, it had to sit on the tray for a minute or two while our server walked away with dishes because our table hadn't yet been cleared from our salads. My husband ordered the bone in filet, I got the classic filet, our in laws got the filet and NY strip. We also shared the au gratins and asparagus. My husband's steak was crispy and almost charred on the outside, mine was cooked fine, temperature-wise, but lacked flavor. All steaks seemed to lack the normal flavor we're used to. Additionally, the shareable sides are much smaller than what I remember. The asparagus was kind of mushy. It took a long time to get drinks throughout our meal, and even longer to get our check. When our check finally came, I was surprised to see we were still charged for the salads, even though we got the wrong one and had to wait ten minutes to have that corrected- with no apology. We waited another ten minutes before my husband finally went to the bar to hand his card and bill to our server who was chatting with another server. The server tried to take the book with our card tab and said "have a great night". My husband told her she hadn't ran our card yet- she laughed and said "oh I thought I did". She then walked away and ran the card. When leaving, we noticed our server behind the bar, chatting and laughing with the same person as before, and drinking wine-- which looked extremely unprofessional. Overall, we're extremely disappointed in the lack of service. We know this is NOT the standard for Ruth's Chris, which makes a $600 dinner bill especially hard to stomach. But their sides are also worthwhile and serve the whole table. Try the shoestring french fries for example, or the creamed spinach. We had a really good experience here. We came in for an early dinner and sat in the quasi outdoor terrace. We were really well taken care of and our meals were great. All our plates came straight out of finishing in the oven, we were warned they would be very hot to the touch. I ordered the ribeye. I could taste that it was nicely marbled, and it was cooked perfectly medium rare. I really wanted to lick the plate clean, it tasted so good. Other things that were ordered were the New York strip, a few filets, and the salmon. Everyone was very happy with their entree. For sides, we got the creamed spinach, pecan crusted sweet potato, and cremini mushrooms. The mushrooms were our favorite. The sweet potato was a little sweeter than expected, with maple syrup infusions and brown sugar in the crust. I didn't think the creamed spinach was as good as the menu made it out to be. The sides are all family style for sharing. For dessert we ordered the bread pudding. This was good but not as good as I was hoping. I almost would've rather have kept the taste of the meat in my mouth after the meal. Again, the service was excellent, and we felt safe Covid-wise. We ordered the classic filet, veal osso bucco ravioli, potatoes au gratin, creamy spinach and crab cakes. Everything was great, however the veal osso bucco was amazing, probably because I expected the classic meat and potatoes plate from a steakhouse and was pleasantly surprised by that plate on the menu, but still a great plate. Plus, our waiter was amazing and very attentive. Only reason I'm giving 4 stars is because I love to be blown away by restaurants, and this was great however expected. My sister-in-law and I recently planned a 100th birthday celebration for my father at Ruth's Chris in Mishawaka, IN. We worked with their event planner, Mary Beth Mumford, whose input guaranteed that the evening was successful and memorable. If I were planning another special occasion event in the area, I would want to have it at Ruth's Chris with Mary Beth's assistance. Each of the suggestions she made was "spot on" as well as something that we may not have considered. The arrangement of the private room (for 28 family members and friends) was perfect for mingling beforehand, and the decor was lovely. Her help with setting the menu for the evening was also perfect. We were impressed that Mary Beth made suggestions about which of the set menu options to choose that were both flexible and saved us money. Everyone could find something they would want on the menu. The evening was well paced and not rushed. Each of the hors d'oeuvres was excellent -- jumbo shrimp, delectable stuffed mushrooms, and seared tuna. That, accompanied by wine and cocktails, made an elegant start to the meal. The venue was perfect, and the food (as expected) was plentiful and delicious. I think everyone took a doggie bag home. The award winning chocolate cake was sinfully decadent! Diners were also given the option of cheesecake, which was also good. Kim and Jenn were fabulous servers, and Victor was really helpful in setting up the slide show. Throughout the evening both Kim and Jenn were attentive to all of our needs. We were delighted that we set the pace of the evening, and were not rushed through the event.
