I hate writing negative reviews, but I left feeling genuinely disappointed, especially given Ruth's Chris' reputation and pricing. We started with the calamari, which I felt was a bit soggy and tasted heavily of fryer oil. It lacked the light, crisp texture I expect from a restaurant at this price point. For our entree, we shared the New York strip. The steak was cooked correctly, but surprisingly lacked flavor. It tasted as though it had little to no seasoning, which was disappointing considering it was a $72 steak. We also ordered the Brussels sprouts. They were quite mushy and had an overpowering pungent flavor. I've had much better Brussels sprouts at far less expensive restaurants. The sweet potato casserole was enjoyable, but it's also essentially a dessert made with butter and sugar, so it wasn't enough to elevate the overall experience. By the end of the meal, our bill was around $190, with each of if having 1 glass of wine with dinner. I don't mind paying premium prices for exceptional food, but nothing we ordered felt memorable or worth the cost. I've had significantly better steakhouse meals elsewhere for much less money and better overall experience. Maybe it was an off night, but based on this visit, I left feeling underwhelmed rather than impressed. read more

Great ambiance and service is top-notch. My husband and I enjoyed a great dinner for his birthday. We decided on the pre-fix dinner which, at $73 is a great price. The only thing I don't enjoy is the 500 degree plate that steaks are served on. The heat that radiates, while your trying to cut your meat (for me) is off putting. Recently visited Ruth's Chris for the first time for a birthday dinner and I absolutely loved it. The table was decorated with some cute little confetti decor when we arrived, and the table was nicely set. The staff were very friendly, and attentive, there was a good selection on the menu, and I don't drink so I had a mocktail and I appreciated the variety of options. Went here for dinner recently. There's limited parking out front that I could see at night, but I parked across from a building. I checked with the host, who said that was fine. Inside is pretty spacious and well-decorated. Got a seat by the window. The food came out on time, and it was delicious. The drinks were good, too and the carrot cake was so good, but the lobster Mac and cheese was. There are a few more items on the menu I would like to try. The service was excellent, and the staff were attentive and friendly throughout the meal. If you are looking for a place to try, this is a good choice for dinner with family, friends, or for date night. I did go by at night, and I enjoyed the entire experience. read more

Wonderful service and great food! We celebrated a work promotion here and the entire meal was lovely. The warm bread and butter to start was delicious. For drinks we enjoyed the raspberry cosmo and smoked old fashioned. It happened to be happy hour so we were able to enjoy the shrimp voodoo appetizer at a reduced price. The crispy shrimp with the creamy spicy sauce was delicious. Salads were fresh and nicely plated. Our steaks came out sizzling and had great flavor. To end our meal the chocolate cake was divine. A fantastic celebration with excellent food! Most ordered the classics and two of us ordered À la carte; both were delicious with generous portions. We shared the crab stuffed mushrooms and voodoo shrimp appetizers and there were enough for all of us, which I was not expecting. I ordered salmon and sweet potatoe casserole. The salmon came with extra veggies and the sweet potatoes and pecans were like a dessert! Patricia took excellent care of us and recommended some cocktails that were new to us. The wine was perfect! The chef presented beautiful desserts for our celebration and a birthday! Since I did not order the classic I was not expecting a dessert, but Patricia brought a mini cheesecake for me too! If I dine at an RC location again, it definitely won't be this one. From the moment we walked in for our reservation, it was obvious how overwhelmed they were--but that doesn't excuse the lack of basic courtesy. As we entered, the front-of-house manager cut directly in front of us to head outside, didn't acknowledge us at all, and let the door slam shut behind them. It was awkward and rude--definitely not the first impression you expect. While waiting for our table, another guest exiting dropped his to-go bag and food spilled onto the floor. What was shocking was that 4-5 staff members walked past the mess multiple times, visibly noticed it, and did absolutely nothing. The guest stood there awkwardly, clearly waiting for help as it was clearly a tripping hazard. Eventually, someone came over and asked if he still wanted the food--which, at that point, was almost laughable. We were seated about 15 minutes after our reservation time, and then waited another 10 minutes before anyone even stopped by to fill water glasses or take drink orders. By the time our server finally arrived, we ordered drinks and dinner all at once because we'd already been sitting there so long. Server was overwhelmed and you could barely hear her speak because it was so loud. For a restaurant that positions itself as "fine dining," the service did not match the price point or expectations. For what we spent, I think I will put an extra $50-$75 toward places like Eddie V's or The Capital Grille, where service and attention to detail are consistently better. read more

We just live nearby in the area and we decided last weekend to try this restaurant. We came in for the happy hour which we were impressed because the happy hour appetizers were all full sizes . My husband tried their Prime Burger and it was pretty good while I tried the voodoo shrimp and its was delicious. Shrimp was cooked perfectly just the right amount of sweet and spicy taste in the sauce . We also tried their artichoke dip which was good and very cheesy . We are all about a happy hour... This one is fantastic! Not only are there some very hearty menu options, there's things on the lighter side. We shared a prime burger with fries: very reasonably priced. Had our own Caesar salad each... Which is absolutely delicious. Had a cocktail each, very good pour, and two glasses of Cabernet... All of this was under $75... tax and tip included! We walked out so full! This was super satisfying. The server, Javier, was very friendly and attentive.... And of course, the dark and very cool room felt very comfortable in this hot, hot weather! We usually like to sit outside, which is also beautiful, but not in this heat! Lots of seating options, including bar, seating table, seating and booths in the bar area. The dining area is also beautiful as well. The food at Ruth's Chris was good and met expectations for the price. The service was alright--nothing special, but not bad either. What really upset me, though, were the chairs. They sat our family in the back and the chairs were extremely hard and very uncomfortable, especially for a restaurant where people are expected to sit and enjoy a longer meal. It's obvious this is something management could fix, but they choose not to. For a high-end steakhouse, comfort should matter just as much as the food. I have visited this establishment multiple times and I have to say that RJ was hands down the greatest waiter we have ever had. He was very engaged with everyone, including my grandkids. My grandson was crying and he did everything to get him to stop, including offering free ice cream and mints. I know this was so that the adults could enjoy the meal and create a greater experience. I ordered the Ruby Red Greyhound, which was absolutely delicious and the Seared Ahi Tuna, which was ok. Their Happy Hour menu is small with few drinks and entrees, but some of those are well worth the price. I was not impressed with my Ahi Tuna, but my friend ordered the Prime Burger, which was huge and she enjoyed. Prices were very reasonable, almost $11 across the board for drinks and entrees. Stopped in for a lovely date night with my wife. Making reservations they greeted us by name and made us feel welcome. There was even a note from the owner-The Duke Family thanking us for visiting. They in my opinion took extra precautions for the sake of covid. Now onto the meal. If you have never had their steak you are not living. I went for the 22 oz Cowboy Ribeye. But I dare you to find a burger made with better meat for $11! Steven (Stephen?) was the bartender and he really knows his stuff. He was swamped and still managed to take care of everyone around the bar eating as well as many drink orders flooding in. I finished off with a cheesecake, but it took longer than it should have. Without asking (I had nowhere to be, so I never complained), Steven made sure to make it right! I have no doubt the steaks here are amazing. If you just want a great burger, head to the bar during Happy Hour or anytime on Sundays (or any other time if you don't mind paying a bit more - it's worth it at full price!). As a business traveler, I like to got to several chains like Ruths Chris because I expecte them to have similar quality and service. However, I feel compelled to alert others that the location in La Cantera appears to be very poorly managed and run. My business associate and i went on a Monday night and arrived at 6:45 and didnt finish the meal until 9:30pm because the service was basically non existent. I will hit the highlights so you can develop accurate expectations should you choose to try this location. 1. we got there and had three waiters in a row walk up to the table and tell us they were our waiter. We actually placed a drink order with the lady that first came up and said she was our waiter and told the others we already had someone taking care of us. Clearly, disorganized and no one knew who was waiting on what tables. Note, there were 5 tables in the restaurant with customers. 2. We ordered drinks and food... Drinks failed to arrive yet was noticed two drinks exactly like what we ordered sitting on bar for 20 minutes. We eventually walked up and asked if they were for our table and the bar tender said yes so we got them ourselves. 3. Shortly after that, the lady that was supposed to be taking care of us came over to tell us that the steak we were going to split was going to be 35 more minutes. We asked why and she said it was because that steak takes 35 minutes.. We asked why it was not entered and started 30 minutes ago when we ordered and she had no answer. The steak was ordered as medium which usually takes less than 8 minutes per side but it was clear that she failed to put our order in. 4. Steak arrives and it was over cooked but still decent. We never saw our waitress again.. She was constantly talking to this table of a couple young folks and never came back to check on us, get new drinks or anything. 5. We waived the manager down and explained this after about another hour and he was extremely unappologetic saying he was sorry they were so busy. They had maybe 10% of the restaurant with patrons. His response was that of taking zero responsibility or care. My assessment is this is a very poorly run location and I would absolutely not go there until they remove the current team and replace with competent individuals. The hostesses were far too flippant for my spouse so he escalated the matter. 20+ minutes later we were sat and it seemed like they were pulling it together. We hoped to salvage it. Sammy the GM said we were to be taken care of. So much for that. Ruined the whole eating out experience. We are still waiting to cash out while I write this. I skipped my meal b/c my spouse sat there and I was infuriated by the poor service. Cocktail, salads and shrimp cocktails were good and my wine choice was excellent but we never got to the main entree or dessert. I blame the management completely. We wanted to go someplace nice for our 20th anniversary and Ruth Chris did NOT disappoint. We got there a little early so we had a cocktail in the bar. I was boring, ordering a FatTire beer and she ordered the raspberry rosemary cosmo. It looked beautiful but tasted even better. She ordered another for the table. We ordered the "petite" seafood tower for the appetizer on the recommendation of our wonderful server, Jessica. She was so good. She listened to what we liked and made suggestions based on that. So for dinner, we split the 11oz filet and each got a lobster tail. The filet was cooked a perfect medium rare and the lobster just melted in your mouth, especially when dipped in the drawn butter. We ordered the honey butted brussel sprouts with bacon and the garlic mashed potatoes. The brussel sprouts were absolutely amazing! Jessica also recommended these. The dessert was a very pleasant surprise. It was just enough and tasted wonderful!! The floor manager, J. T., was very friendly and visible making sure that everyone was taken care of properly.
