I dined at Ruth Chris with several friends for a lunch team bonding meeting, and I must say it was a beautiful experience. We managed to catch the tail end of restaurant week and we're able to take advantage of a well thought out prefix menu. The menu included salmon, steaks, sides, salads, soup and a whole lot more. Everyone's plate came out.perfect, and the sides were delightful. The drinks were great and the service was fantastic. Our waiter was Levi and he did an amazing job. We've already been checking our schedules to see when we're headed back to Ruth's Chris.

We had an amazing experience at this Ruth's Chris! The ambiance was quiet to be able to talk without yelling. The food was absolutely delicious and our server Justin was on point. Very friendly, very courteous and always paying attention to our needs. Thank you everyone at Ruth's Chris!!

We should definitely go more often! From the moment we pulled up to the door and were greeted by the Valet, we knew we made a good choice. Our waiter made us feel like we were the only people in the place. His eye contact, listening to our questions and the recommendations he made were all on point. OMG- THE APPETIZER VOODOO LOBSTER YOU CANNOT PASS UP! cooked perfectly, served hot and cooked to perfection. A little spicy too. The filet with lobster was cooked perfectly and not overseasoned. The lobster omelet was a complete surprise with the Basil sauce- wowza!!! That should be a permanent menu item for sure. Worth every single penny and we will return sooner !! Thank you

Grey Goose Dirty Martini. Delicious and icy cold perfect

My birthday dinner 2025 at Ruth's Chris was spot on. We enjoyed leisurely cocktails at the bar when we first arrived. I ordered a Grey Goose Dirty Martini, perfectly made and icy cold. The bartenders were amazing and extremely knowledgeable. We had a great time chatting with them. After cocktails, we moved into the beautiful dining room where we started off our meal with their signature Chopped Salad, which is our favorite. Their Chopped Salad is a unique salad creation, consisting of a mixture of julienned salad greens and hearts of palm, bacon, croutons, crumbled blue cheese, hard boiled eggs, mushrooms, olives and onions. It is all tossed together in a delicate lemon-basil dressing and beautifully presented as a formed salad tower, topped with crispy onion threads. Oh my! Oh my! Our Classic Filet Mignons were seared to a perfect rare and served sizzling in butter on a very hot plate. Ruth's Chris magnificent Filet Mignon is the "ultimate exquisiteness" of exceptional tenderness and beef flavor. You close your eyes and savor every bite. The beef filets are so incredibly delicious. The best of the best. We ordered vegetable sides that we share. The Grilled Asparagus with a serving of Hollandaise Sauce was delicious. The asparagus was grilled to a perfect tender-crisp. We also ordered Ruth's Chris famous, classic creamed spinach that is always luxuriously silky and flavorful. It is our favorite vegetable dish of all. We ended our dining experience with the delicious, piping hot coffee and the best carrot cake we ever had in our life! Most carrot cakes have an excessive amount cream cheese icing where you can't taste the carrot cake itself. Ruth's Chris Carrot Cake was not like that at all. This incredible cake was an eye-popping tall wedge of a very moist and flavorful carrot cake with THREE layers of the perfect amount of creamed cheese icing. The perfect balance of sweetness. Baby Bear Right! Their Carrot Cake makes you say "Oooooo" when it is presented to you and '"WOW" as you devour it, forkful by forkful. We splurged on a bottle of 2022 Caymus Cabernet. Perfect choice, this wine was superb! It will now be our favorite one to order. Ben was our server extraordinaire. Very friendly, extremely knowledgeable, elegant and charming. Ben made sure that everything was perfect and saw to every dining need. We enjoyed and appreciated Ben and will request him each time we dine there. Thank you to Ben for making my birthday so special! The entire staff at Ruth's Chris is exceptionally talented and very highly trained. Every single staff member there have meet and have exceeded the highest caliber of hospitality there is. From the parking attendants, the hostesses, the bartenders, the entire wait staff and servers, the chefs, the entire kitchen staff, the managers....from Front of House to Back of House...every single person working there is equally impressive. It takes an entire team of talented and dedicated people who deeply care. Because of them, they make a restaurant successful and your dining experiences exceptional. Second to none, Ruth's Chris succeeds.... every single time. It all was excellent! Beyond excellent! Thanks to all of them. We have been dining at Ruth's Chris for countless years. Ruth's Chris Asheville is just amazing! They always made our dining experiences very, very special. Amazing food that is always cooked to perfection, fabulous wine, perfect service and to top it off.... being with my handsome and amazing guy....it could not get any better than this. Life is good! Carpe diem.

I try to visit a Ruth's Chris in the cities we visit. This experience was just as great as all of the others. The standard for service this company has is exemplary and I wasnt disappointed at this location. The hostess, the server, food, and the ambiance made for a great dinner while on vacation.

Carrot Cake is just unbelievably tasty!!!

By far one of the top steakhouses in AVL!!!! My wife and I enjoyed a lovely dinner this evening to celebrate our wedding anniversary. Upon arrival we were met with the standard RC bread and butter that is always on point. Fluffy inside with a great outer crust paired to perfection with the softness of the whipped butter, are you hungry yet? Well, I am just thinking about it, I'm a huge sucker for tasty bread. My wife also ordered a dirty martini, complete with blue cheese stuffed olives, her favorite:) While looking over the menu I couldn't help but start singing(until I started embarrassing my wife; love you B!) along to the 70's & 80's pop cover tunes done in a funky jazz lounge style. My favorite was the classic Everybody's Talkin' by Harry Nilsson...if only we could have stayed longer to hear the cover rendition of Coconut or Without You...lol(;(;(; We started with the seared ahi tuna which has an amazing sauce I would have bathed in under different circumstances. It complimented the perfectly seared fish beautifully along with the fresh crunch from the pickled ginger, cucumber, onion, and red pepper salad gave great contrast in both flavors and textures. Epic start to an unforgettable meal. Next we had the Harvest salad which had just an incredible contrast of flavors and textures as well and we both really enjoyed. Then for the main course my wife had a petite filet and shrimp which she loved and I had the bone in filet...both were cooked just as requested and just out of this world delicious. For sides we ordered the Lyonnaise Potatoes & broccoli. The potatoes are fried and accompanied by caramelized onions, fresh thyme, garlic butter for an amazing flavor. The broccoli was just as expected and always a great pairing with a nice steak when cooked correctly and ours was right on the money. For dessert we indulged in the amazing carrot cake that management ended up taking off the bill as a thank you for choosing to dine with them on our special day. I can't even begin to express just how decadently moist & fluffy the cake was...we definitely had left overs as the portion size was enough for 4 or 5 to split. On of the managers, Rachel, stopped by to check on us and was super friendly along with thanking us for joining them for dinner. The host was friendly and each of the other members of the service staff were all very accommodating but none more then our awesome server, Chris! He was super friendly, attentive, and knowledgeable which truly made our experience one we will not soon forget but don't take my word for it, go see him!

I thoroughly enjoyed my thanksgiving dinner experience at Ruth's Chris Asheville everyone from the host, servers, and managers were very accommodating and made us feel very welcome. The food was top tier we had the Oso bucco ravioli for the app, filet, ribeye, crab cakes for the entrees and mashed potatoes and broccoli for the sides everything was excellent.

Ask the Community - Ruth's Chris Steakhouse

I'm looking for a great place to dine gluten free for Thanksgiving in Asheville. So far I've found The Blackbird & Ruth Chris as options for dining in GF. Anyone have any feedback on which is better?

Hi Jen. I can't speak on the Blackbird, but I can say the Ruth' Chris in Asheville was absolutely perfect when my wife and I went for our anniversary in Aug. I've been to a few RC restaurants around the country and they're always excellent, but… Read more

I found Chestnut on Yelp and decided to wander in. The space has this elevated modern rustic vibe with a southern twist and a little bit of sass. They even sell shirts that say neither hoity nor toity, which cracked me up. Honestly, the atmosphere was great, but our waitress was the real star. She was absolutely phenomenal and looked after us perfectly. My palate was pretty fried, so I started with a Bloody Mary to wake up. Truth be told, it was just okay. The house mix had an odd flavor that nobody at the table could quite identify, and it seriously lacked spice. It was just kinda bland. I noticed a bottle of Firewalker hot sauce on the table, and splashing that in helped a little bit. After that, I transitioned to a mimosa. You really cannot mess up a mimosa too much, and it was a solid, reliable second drink. For the main event, I ordered the southern chicken and waffles. This came with a fried chicken breast sitting on golden malted waffles, smothered in sausage gravy, and drizzled with chipotle honey. It was a really great dish. The kitchen did a solid job with the fry on the chicken, and the gravy had a nice flavor. It leaned a little on the sweet side because of the honey, but it was not totally overdone. The real sleeper hit of the morning, though, was the side of cheesy grits. Those grits were absolute heaven. They were incredibly creamy and perfectly seasoned. If you go, you have to order them. Chestnut is in a great location, and despite the weak Bloody Mary, it was a stellar visit.

Worth Planning Your Asheville Trip Around…read more As a Bay Area foodie, navigating around San Francisco's incredible restaurant scene taught me to appreciate thoughtful cooking, quality ingredients, and genuine hospitality. Chestnut had been on my Asheville dining list long before I arrived, and after spending several days exploring Boone, Blowing Rock, and the Blue Ridge Mountains, I made it my dinner splurge before heading home. It absolutely delivered. A quick tip: skip the hunt for street parking and head straight to the garage across the street. The first hour is free, and downtown Asheville can be congested with both vehicle and foot traffic. I arrived around 5:30 without a reservation and was warmly greeted by the hostess, who offered me a table or a seat at the bar. Asheville was surprisingly hot and humid compared to the cool mountain weather I'd been enjoying, so the air-conditioned dining room was an easy choice over the sidewalk patio. The restaurant itself is beautiful. Fresh flowers, warm lighting, elegant stone countertops, comfortable booths, tables, and bar seating create an atmosphere that feels polished without being stuffy. What stood out most was the mix of guests. There were locals greeting staff by name, couples enjoying date night, families with children, and older guests gathering with friends. It felt welcoming and comfortable for everyone. As a solo diner, the bar was the perfect choice. I enjoyed all the energy of the restaurant while still having a peaceful dining experience. I started with a glass of Brut Rosé from Spain. Crisp, refreshing, and beautifully balanced, it was the perfect way to settle in after a warm afternoon. Then came the Lobster Bisque. As someone who has made lobster bisque from scratch, I know the work that goes into creating a great one. Chestnut's version, made with Oak & Grist Reserve Cream and finished with fresh chives, was outstanding. Rich, silky, velvety, and loaded with tender pieces of lobster. If I'm being incredibly picky, I would have enjoyed just a touch more sherry, but that's purely personal preference. The smaller serving vessel kept the bisque hot from first spoonful to last, which I appreciated. My only complaint was that I wanted a larger serving because it was that good. For my entrée, I ordered the 4-ounce Petite Filet. The steak arrived cooked a perfect medium rare with excellent flavor and texture. It was served with butter-whipped mashed potatoes, haricot verts, a crisp potato gaufrette, red wine demi-glace, and chive butter. Every component was thoughtfully prepared. The demi-glace added richness without overwhelming the beef, while the potato gaufrette provided a delicate crunch. My only minor critique was that the plate could have been served a bit hotter, but the quality of the food more than made up for it. One of the highlights of the evening was the service. Taylor, part of the management team, was personable, knowledgeable, and genuinely welcoming. After my sparkling wine, he suggested a half-glass pour of Willamette Valley Pinot Noir since I was driving. Excellent recommendation. The wine was elegant, earthy, and beautifully balanced, pairing perfectly with the filet. As the evening progressed, the restaurant filled quickly. Watching the staff greet regulars by name and efficiently manage the growing crowd spoke volumes about how well-run the restaurant is. You could tell many guests were repeat customers, which is always a good sign. After dinner, I attempted to walk off my meal through downtown Asheville, but the summer heat quickly convinced me to head back to my hotel. I left full, happy, and already thinking about that lobster bisque. For a Bay Area foodie who plans entire trips around memorable meals, Chestnut exceeded expectations. Great food, thoughtful service, an inviting atmosphere, and a dining experience that felt special without trying too hard. If you're visiting Asheville, put Chestnut on your list. Life is too short for mediocre meals, and this one is worth making time for.
