Love, love, love, this place when I'm in the area and I want some of the best coffee around but I'm worried about the ambience lately in the last few weeks. One of the managers had his kids in and while he was serving customers they were running around screaming in the shop, grabbing and running with bags of coffee for sale, and messing with glass bottles in the case. When I've stopped in for coffee on Sundays now they play religious music. I do not mind religious music; but it is not a religious store that I know of, and I have non-Christian friends who I could see being offended. I know there are Christian businesses including coffee houses but a place should advertise that (even promote it? why not?). I know its tough for small business in the economy right now and family comes with the owner sometimes and I don't mind that. I just want this review to be a constructive suggestion because I still support this store. Still worth the inconveniences for a terrific coffee. read more

An older Woman 2 weeks ago was borderline surly refusing to grind a 5 lb. Bag of coffee. Today the customer has not improved. Did they get bought out? F.Y.I: Ryan Bros Coffee is the perfect place to get a cup of coffee/tea and get your study on! The service is always great and super friendly! The coffee shop may be small but it always has a good vibe and good music playing. Seating is limited so you better get there early or you'll be finding somewhere else to study or read the paper... I don't have a bad thing to say about this coffee shop, other than it's now far away from me and its a trek to get there. That said, they have a great selection of coffee drinks - all sorts of flavored lattes, many of which I haven't tried since I tend to stick with my holy trinity: iced coffee, cappuccino, and chai tea lattes. Everything I've had though is always spot-on, so I'm going to go ahead and assume that their other drinks are like that as well. I've driven by this coffee shop so many times and never gone in. I usually go to Better Buzz but after so many mornings where the line is wayyy to long, I decided to give it a shot. Now I'm upset I've never gone in there before!! The Mexican Espresso Cold Brew is delicious and it was recommended by an employee. I've never been a cold brew fan but this is so good! Here they have fresh roasted coffee. They roast on premise. They have another location in San Diego, which I always meant to get to, but they came to North County instead. Very nice people, good quality coffee, and the couple of times I've been in there, people keep getting the Rooster Red Tea, which is a Rooibus/Strawberry blend. Sounds good, but I'm more into... ...Mochas. They have 3 types, White Night, Mexican, and European - my fav. When I look for a mocha, (my staple drink), I look for quality chocolate that tastes good. The white mocha is a bit sweet, but very good. I will say their mexican and white mochas remind me of It's a grind, and if you used to go there, try them here, you'll probably like it. Can't wait to try the blended drinks. They also have fruit blended drinks too. Small inside, but there is some outdoor seating right there with a cool fountain. Found this place by accident when I was searching to see if there was a Coffee Bean within the area. The barista that helped me out when I first came here was super friendly! He took the time to briefly explain to me their menu, and what specialty items they had to offer and so forth. It kind of took awhile to get my drink compared to the quicker pace at Starbucks, but the fact that the staff was very welcoming definitely accommodated that. And as many people have already mentioned, they have stamp cards! Definitely a major pro for a broke college student :p Since my first visit, I've returned here quite a few times before the semester was over, and plan to come back when the semester starts again. The only con I'd have to say about Ryan Bros, is that (well, as far as I know...) their smallest drink size is REALLY big. I usually order about a grande or a tall at Starbucks, and I'd say the Ryan Bros regular size is definitely a venti. But you really do get your money's worth, considering their prices are VERY reasonable, and you get aaaaaa looooooot. As for the actual coffee, it's amazing! Definitely comparable to Coffee Bean or Starbucks, but with its own unique kick. Drinks are really consistent in taste. I love this place. Great coffee. Good workspace. It's the people who work here who make it great. Attentive and they know their stuff. They know exactly how to comfort you and serve a drink you'll love. I do wish they'd turn the music down a tad and choose anything but the Red Hot Chili Peppers for they are an abomination. My other complaint--I've been here 10 times over the last two months and their WIFI *NEVER* works. Never. If you don't have it, fine, but don't promise it. The only coffee place I will ever vist again. I discovered Ryan's Brothers after a staff meeting with a friend. We always got coffee after them as her shift ended and I had about an hour before mine begin. We didn't have time to go to Starbucks, and decided to be adventurious and try this place. Best decision ever! Unlike Starbucks, I don't get that shaky feeling or have any blood sugar dips from Ryan Bros Coffee. They do not over sweeten their frappes. Also their hot chocolate tastes like home made, not burnt milk. For the past year I have stopped in before work when ever I needed a boost or something light for breakfast, I absoutly love their bagles. I recently have started trying there teas as I have to limit my caffeine due to pregancy. So far I found a favorite in there Sun Burst iced tea. Also their Italian Soda is delish and fresh made. It can get a little hetic in the shop when they get busy as they usually only have two girls working. But they are quick to fix any mistake and do it with a smile. I just wish they had the prices for their treats and coffee accessories listed somewhere, instead of having to ask. The staff is great, and they always remember return costumers and their regular drink orders. I worked christmas eve and knew I was going to need coffee. They had their hours posted and we're not suppose to open till after I was already at work. I doubled checked that was still the case with the manager who was working that morning. Really cute little coffee shop! I've had their Americano which was delicious, and just recently had their chai with whipped cream. Sooo good. I also decided a rice crispy treat with m&ms and white chocolate chips was necessary, and I'm glad I did--YUM! I like that they keep fresh, cold water and cups available for you to get whenever you like on your own. I love the coffee here, and my daughter loves to try all of their different teas, but if you are going to have a coffee shop half a mile from Starbucks where people are paid to be nice, you really need to have barristas that greet you with a smile. Today I walked into, you know, that one coffee place that's on every corner. Can't remember the name... So when I have my coffee, I smell the aroma. You know, like back in the day in those Folgers commercials. They make you believe that it really is the best coffee ever. It's not but quite believable. Well when I get that whiff of BURNT coffee, I know it's going to make me sad but the caffeine is what I need. So I take it anyways. Later that day one of the ladies from work shared a cup of her freshly brewed Midnight Blend coffee. I can take it with sugar and cream but today I left that alone so I could really taste it. I smell it and it has this buttery, lightly toasted flavor. *sigh* I take a sip, anticipating bitterness but am pleasantly surprised with just how smooth and tasty it is. New favorite. This place is great! They have a lot of drinks that are different from most coffee shops and a much better atmosphere than starbucks. They also have a wide variety of teas, which is particularly appealing to tea lovers like me! Love the black tea lattes. The hot cafe mocha with Mexican chocolate was really good as was the iced americano. There's a huge fire pit outside, and they play movies at night. I would definitely recommend this coffee house!! I was searching for a coffee shop to do some work in San Marcos and came upon Ryan Bros. While the staff is friendly and the coffee was good, the location wasn't ideal for typical coffee house activities (computer work, group study, etc). The ambiance is very modern and the furniture is small/hard chairs and tables, making working there difficult. I later found another coffee shop in town that better suited my needs, but I still visit Ryan Bros for coffee if I'm in that area of San Marcos. read more

Ryan Bros. is a very laid back coffee shop not too far from CSUSM. I stopped by in here because I was studying nearby at the SM library, which I was able to walk from. It's not very big, but I think that's what kinda gives the place its' character. Only a few tables on the inside where people with laptops settled down. I just came in to get some coffee since I needed a little caffeine boost. My boyfriend had gone in earlier, and our coffee ran out so I went back to get a refill. I was politely greeted by a girl behind the counter and asked for some brewed coffee and handed her my cup from earlier. She gave it a quick wash and filled my cup up all the way to the brim. I expected to pay, but she just handed it to me for no charge. I don't know if this was typical protocol or not, but I appreciated it. That in itself, makes me a fan of Ryan Bros. coffee. Great tasting coffee with free drip refills? I think they've found themselves a new regular. read more

I used to hit up the Temecula location when I lived the blocks from it... and when realized there is another just blocks from my work, I breathed a sigh of relief when it came time to move into my new apartment. I would miss this place too much! The service is top notch: friendly and quick (although this review is for the San Marcos location, both have great, genuine customer service!). Ray is awesome and professional, but everybody else who works there is friendly and great, too. Whatever you do, don't miss out on those snickerdoodles... or cake pops... or cupcakes... (rumor has it, Olga makes them all? GAH!) The product is likewise top notch: tasty beverages (coffees and teas alike!) that please the taste buds and avoid the processed feel of chain shops. I'd love for Ryan Bros to continue to grow if they can keep a good handhold on what they've been doing so far. ;o) Any coffee shop that can team up with Lost Abbey/Port Brewing starts off 4 stars in my book. Came here on a Sunday morning for a lazy start to our day. We ordered a cold coffee and a blended drink, along with a couple f bagels and some delicious jalapeño cream cheese. All of which was delicious!! However, not having any kind of green tea frappe was a little disappointing. And in a shop that only has around 5/6 tables, I really don't understand why they can't deliver your drink to your table rather than calling out what you've ordered. I sipped it and it tasted a little bland, I made a face (because I consider myself to be a coffee connoisseur) but I kept walking. Just go to Starbucks. Starbucks is more consistent and often tastes better. Staff is unreliable in drink making and often makes the wrong drink or gives the wrong size unless you catch them. There is a new coffee shop here in San Marcos, and it is called Ryan Bros. Coffee. A very nice little shop located right across from the Old Spaghetti Factory and the new Pizza Nova. You looking for an alternative to Starbucks, well this is the place. You walk in and the feel is of a downtown coffee shop, with the menu looking like someone took time with colored chalk to make it pretty. The girls behind the counter are very nice and are helpful if you don't know what you want. The coffee here is flavorful and the Frappes are good as well. The flavors are unique to Ryans Bros. and will fill you up with wholesome goodness. On this occasion I ordered the Coconut Frappe, which is good if you like Coconut. Pricing is around the same as other coffee shops of this nature, so no difference there. They do sell private label coffee here, much like any of the other coffee shops. The seating is comfortable, though a bit small inside. There is more seating outside on the patios so you can enjoy the sunshine along with your coffee. Free Wi-Fi is always welcomed at any establishment and is being used by this yelper right now to write this review. The in store music is a nice selection of coffeehouse music that won't distract you if you chose to do some studying or work here. I finally decided to stop by this coffee shop with my brother after passing by it so many times. We wanted to try something other than Starbucks. I ordered the nonfat hazelnut latte and my brother had the mexican mocha. The price for both were about $3.50 each. I thought the coffee was good, but not excellent. I like my lattes to have creamy foam on the top, which this did not have. Also, I thought the coffee was a bit sweet. However, seeing the way my brother liked his coffee, I might of just got the wrong drink. If I decide to stop by again, I shall try something different. read more

Wellll, Since i discovered this place I truthfully only hit up Starbucks for their "Green Tea Frap", as far as the actual coffee goes this is the best I have had in North County. IMPRESSED BY: Cappuccino, the foam is really really perfect, the milk is not burned and the temperature as it should be is ready to drink. Espresso, Yes ma'am! Great tasting espresso rich and flavorful but not bitter with a nice creamy top. (Tip from the italiana (me) when you put sugar in your espresso it should sit on top for a while, that is how thick the creamy top should be). I wish they had a couple more breakfast choices as far as food...but other than that; I'll take a cappuccino in a real cup please! read more
