WOW!!! What a find SAMGT is. Saw that they were building this place a few months ago and stopped by for lunch with the wife to check it out. If you're used to garbage Mexican food that is processed, stop reading this post immediately and go to Taco Bell, I'm sure you will be happy. Now if you're looking for authentic, elevated, freshly prepared Mexican food read this post while you get dressed and go to SAMGT. Not certain what region of Mexico is represented but plan to ask next time I'm in. Started with a Modelo Michelada which was at an amazing happy hour price of $5. Fish ceviche which is prepared more like an agua chiles was served with thinly sliced avocado and radish wedges dipped in tajin. Hand made guacamole put any other ive had to shame, topped with seasoned pepitas which added an excellent crunch, served with fresh chips and fried chicharrones YUMMY. For lunch my wife had a special salad with a house made tamarind dressing and I opted for the lamb stew. My wife said the salad was top 5 on her all time list and my lamb was cooked in a parchment pack with avocado leaves, spices and nopales (cactus) served with this awesome vegetable infused rice and fresh tortillas. I asked for house salsa and was brought two, a roasted tomato and a chili oil which went great with lamb. Service was great. Great work we will be back. I'm also going to speak with the owner and see if I can help them connect with the YMCA's Incredible Edibles event which really helps show case local restaurants to about a 1,000 of the IE's most prominent. read more

Top notch service and food! My enchiladas were savory, I loved the beans with corn and rice was ok. My date had the cochinita pibil with pickled onions and it was AMAZING!! I am definitely coming back for that. And their capirotada is ridiculous, its like something I've never had before. Like bread pudding meets french toast, topped with the best vanilla ice cream I've ever had. The decor is super vibrant and cozy, mimicing the feel of a nice restaurant in Arizona, or somewhere. And by decor, I am including the table setting, everything had an expensive feel to it. That being said, it was very very clean, the menu's were not sticky, and there were no loud kids in sight-no kids at all actually! Oh and they have a purse stand and the end of each table so you dont have to worry about it being bothersome! The music was poppin and honestly was a nice touch of my view of the electric blue bar while I drank my watermelon margarita. Oh, and kudos for having Don Julio blanco! If you're looking for a great way to get frustrated and ruin a good night by horrible customer service go ahead and visit this place. Otherwise us pick a new location to try. Food was not good. Half of the menu was sold out on a Friday night at 7:00pm. The waitress lied about the items they offered and brought us two incorrect plates thinking it's all good so we sent them back and they refused to take them off the bill because "we made it, it's sitting back there!" But y'all made it wrong. We also tried ordering items off of the tv screen they have and all of those items have been discontinued. Why is the tv showing them? My boyfriend and I recently moved in the area and wanted to try this place out, we invited some of my immediate family. The place is small but very cute! We did notice that its rather expensive for what you're getting and the food was just okay. $22 for 3 tacos with rice and beans seems excessive, the drinks tasted more sugary than anything. Our waitress was nice but also very forgetful. We did enjoy dessert and the mariachi was great too. Overall not the best food but would return for mariachi and give drinks another try. read more

Delicious food, great ambiance and beautiful decor. The service was friendly and attentive, they made us feel welcome . We ordered the aspirinas botanas, delicioso . I had the ravioli which was so yummy and a welcome change from most restaurants. The portions are great and very good quality. The atmosphere is nice and the staff is very friendly But other then that this is not a hit. A little pricey for Mexican food and very slow to bring drinks and chips. We found out they do not serve burritos kinda strange but no big deal we figured they must specialize in what they do serve. We ordered our food and asked for chips and salsa then add a guacamole that came with chips and pig skins we did not receive the chips salsa till we finely asked again. This is by no means traditional Mexican food. It not that it horrible but it's just not great. We ordered a taco plate and a Chile relleno guacamole and a quesadilla for our son with out any drinks Bill was over $50.00. What a great find! Although still in their 'soft opening,' Sabor offers a delicious and surprising menu. For now, they do not serve chips & salsa, liquor, tacos, or burritos. At first, me and my friends were shocked, but Sabor offers an exceptional, authentic, and tasty selection! We stayed on the botanas (appetizers) menu and tried the tamales (see pictures), chicharron, lamb chops with mint jam, aspirinas (mini sopes), and the venison tostada. Then we had the creme brûlée trio (see picture) composed of horchata, jamaica, and guava twists to give a unique twist. They were ALL excellent! The service was also exceptional! You can feel the care taken in the decor and the fact that our server, Nico, knew the menu inside and out. We were lucky and got to taste the homemade tortillas, as well as some unique strawberry ice cream popsicles! Overall, I give Sabor my highest recommendation and cannot wait to go back. Definitely try to cochinita pibil, tamales, and venture out into the venison tostada! We got to meet the co-owners and we're treated with the warmest hospitality and consideration. Tried this place an hour ago. Beautiful decor. Was stunned at prices, almost double what those plates usually go for somewhere else. Also, service was mediocre. Very slow and forgot a few of my requests even though there was literally 5 other people in whole restaurant. Lastly and the worst is that I was literally sweating since temp seemed to be like 85 degrees. I saw other people fanning themselves. Go here immediately! Amazing fresh food, all prepared with just the right sizes. The entrees are big- I'd suggest sharing. House margaritas are all prepared with fresh lime juice, and are the best I've found in Rancho. The ambiance is modern, colorful, and also very welcoming. Pros: took us right away party of 2 Saturday night Food came right away. Decent service I ordered a mezcalito (alcoholic beverage) all sugar no alcohol. I ordered an appetizer which was $7 for 2 small I mean small empanadas, and queso fundido $10 which I gave a 10 cause you can't really mess that up. It came with home made mini corn tortillas. Those were a HITT hands down my favorite part of dinner. Dinner was shrimp enchilada (4) plate with rice and beans. The sauce wasn't red or green but a brown peanut sauce. I really wanted to like this place. It seemed busy and people looked happy to be there , however my food was definitely a 3/10. I was dissatisfied. The presentation was great just lacked in flavor. The second plate was a Chile relleno. It wasn't your average Chile relleno, what was supposed to be an egg wrapped around the Chile was masa in which it was undercooked upon deep frying, dry and thick. It taste like an uncooked corn tortilla with cheese lol Oh almost forgot. Chips and salsa. The chips were bomb, they weren't traditional tortilla chips I wish I'd taken a picture of it all. We had a horrible experience with a local mexican restaurant on Cinco de Mayo not following precautions (walked out without our dinners)- it was the complete opposite at Sabor a Mi- they called when my food was ready, handed off meals at the door, were so incredibly kind and staff were masked. Total hidden gem. A small quaint location. Opened up with Cafe de Oja, which is almost a piloncillo sweetened coffee with a dash of cinnamon. The chips and salsa were fresh and the chips were nice and were a perfect compliment to the cafe de oja. We started with the bone marrow appetizer. I wasn't sure what to expect. This was a perfect introduction to the restaurant's theme which is a more refined Mexican cuisine . It's a pretty intimate setting. My wife had the Huesos de Tuetano. It's a freshly prepared carnitas blend accompanied with rice and beans. I had the Cochinita Pibil. This was amazing, a definite recommendation. This is a extremely tenderized pork loin that has been bathed in a Yucatán sauce. The meat fell apart to perfect shreds as My for peirced the meat while still maintaining form. My Anejo Tequila flight was awesome, it's meant for sipping not pounding. All of the Tequilas were smooth and paired well with the food. My wife's Tequila was even better all of the flavors were made with fresh juices. They were refreshing and had just enough tequila to not over power the flavor. If I could give them 0 stars I would. I honestly do not know how they have good ratings. What a joke. Worse customer service EVER. The person in charge was unbelievably rude. First, I asked what the jalapeño poppers had. The menu said cheese and jalapeños only. It did not mention they were fried. I even asked her, and she said cheese and jalapeños. When she brought them out, I mentioned something about them being fried, and she gave me attitude saying that's how all jalapeños poppers are. Second, three of us asked for WELL DONE steaks. She brought only one well done steak. When my friend told her that her steak was not well done, she said that's how they always do it. When the bill came, we asked for the person in charge. She said it was her, and my other friend mentioned again that it was not well done, she said it was because the main chef was not there. Why does it matter if the main chef was not there? If a customer asks for a well done steak, they should get it well done, not how the cook decides. Third, I asked her for a side of Caesar dressing. She told me they only had Mexican dressings. Then she proceeded by suggesting another dressing they can make for me after I told her I could not have the Mexican dressings because of dietary restrictions. She also made a comment on how Caesar dressing has the anchovies, and anchovies do not go with steak. Fourth, my friend's mom ordered rice and veggies. She brought a salad instead, and insisted that was what she asked for. Everyone at the table heard her say rice and veggies. How are you going to tell us what we ordered? Never returning to this place again. Be aware of the person in charge's rudeness and horrible customer service. What did we get out of this horrible experience? A discount of 11 dollars, and a "I brought out everything they wanted" comment. No sorry, no nothing. Smh. read more

If you want real Mexican food, you don't want to go here. This place is confused on what it is supposed to be. Not much mexican food here, the menu is filled with Italian fusion style dishes. Bone marrow, lamb, ravioli, etc. No chile verde, no burritos, and no chips and salsa either, which is a bummer because I love tasting house salsas. There was a loud and annoying mariachi band that prevented me from being able to hear the others in my group (the building is too small for a mariachi band). I got carne asada street tacos, which were good but if you can't make tacos get out of the restaurant game. Tortillas were homemade and pretty good as well. 2 stars were for that alone. The most lazy Spanish rice I have ever seen... plain white rice with some corn and bell pepper thrown on top. Just awful. In what universe do 2 margaritas come out 8 minutes before a beer? Front end staff had to tell our server the check has been ready for a while. The server was also very... weird. Nice enough, just off putting and not someone that was enjoyable to be around. Second visit/review Walked in shortly after 11 am, and we didn't get acknowledged at our table until 11:26 am. Never even took our drink order. The lady came to our table and asked if we are waiting for our food.....really! She apologized and said the table we were at isn't in her section....again really! We hadn't even had our order taken. We tried this restaurant out because we purchased the dinepal card for $25 that promised a $50 discount. We were a party of four with a $300 bill. Despite the fact that the card or promotional literature does not state any restrictions, they would not honor the card. Their reason was due to it being a Friday. The food was ok but overpriced. Service mediocre. I paid the bill but told my wife as I tore up the DinePal card someone can only do that once to me. We will never go back. We have been coming to Sabor a Mi for a year and have always considered it a treat. The service has always been great and the food a welcome departure from the local chains. Tonight I ordered the ravioli. When my food was delivered I got a whiff of mildew. I ate one ravioli and determined it was the cheese grated over the top. It tasted good but after the second ravioli, I couldn't finish my meal, the smell was too much. So our server graciously took it away. This is the second time in my life I've sent food back. A few minutes later the chef came out, explaining she had done nothing wrong. "The ravioli is frozen... " (I didn't realize I was paying $18 for frozen ravioli) "...and we just mix these ingredients to make the sauce." She then insisted I smell her ingredients. Awkward. My husband and I humored her and both confirmed the cheese was off. Very off. "It's parmesan. It's aged" she snapped back. In the middle of my response she turned away and left us. Now I love cheese and a good aged Parmesan has a strong, earthy flavor and adds a great depth of flavor. Yes, it has a strong smell, but it shouldn't smell like this. This stuff still churns my stomach to think about... it was not worthy of her plate. There was no offer to re-make the dish without this rotten cheese. No offer of something else. Just a very nervous server (who'd obviously been chastised by a prideful chef) and a bill for the food I'd sent back. I've been to this restaurant so many times and it is absolutely one of the best Mexican restaurants in the area. Food is fresh, well prepared, and professionally served. My only gripe is the recent change of bartenders. The bar is integral to the experience and frankly speaking the new bartender is horrible. He cannot get our full round out at the same time, the drinks suck, the bartender sucks. Get the old bartender back or find someone who knows how to mix a drink!
