The décor is casual, and they have a wrap-around patio that has ocean views on one side. The beach is just a block away, so you can see the sand and water pretty clearly. The patio is definitely the spot to be! They're dog friendly, and you'll probably see a few doggies hanging out! They have a full coffee bar, and their coffee was very good. They even offered a free refill on my way out! As far as food, we ordered the avocado toast and the sacks hash & eggs, which looks like one of their signature items. The avocado toast wasn't your typical toast as it had corn salsa and a bit of a Mexican flavor twist. The eggs on top are hard boiled, but I would have much preferred a poached egg. I think I'll specifically request a poached egg next time around. The avocados were nice and ripe, and the Southwest flavor with the corn was pretty interesting! The sacks hash and eggs were a definite surprise --- the sweetness of the butternut squash anchors the dish well along with the sweet potato, and the apple provides bright flashes of tart. The eggs were cooked perfectly, with the yolk oozing beautifully over the other ingredients. I also added greek yogurt with granola and fresh fruit, which is only a $1 extra! I LOVE that Breakfast in France. The only thing remotely close to actual breakfast in France is that buttery croissant stuffed full of scrambled eggs and creamy brie, dripping with thick, gooey raspberry sauce. It is literally located 1 block away from the beach and you can also see an ocean from the one side of outside seating area. It is a small cafe, but you should have no problem with seating at either inside or outside area. Additionally, as with any other establishments near the beach, many metered parking are available and they seem to be the best choice. A very good place to get some food and drink for breakfast or lunch as prices are reasonably priced considering it is near the beach. As recommended by many of fellow yelpers, I tried their Breakfast in France (A fresh butter croissant consisting of scrambled eggs, brie cheese, bacon & our raspberry sauce.) on my first visit. The house raspberry sauce is really fantastic and I also strongly recommend this to other as well. Additionally, the order taker (cashier) was kind enough to split my single order into two plates as she noticed that I am planning to share it with my wife. A very good service! On my second visit, I tried their $5 Village Special (1/2 Sandwich & Soup or Salad). This time, I chose their Frenchie (A fresh butter croissant layered with house raspberry sauce, melted brie cheese, roasted turkey, green apple & romaine lettuce.) for a sandwich and also chose their Tortilla soup. The sandwich is excellent as their house raspberry sauce is very good, and the soup was surprisingly very smooth as well. All for $5 seems to be a very good deal if you are looking for a light breakfast! If you are looking for a quick meal at the beach, this place is it! Sadly, the service has declined severely. We used to love this place! The siracha wrap was horrible. They offered pepperoni pizza only. My kids wanted cheese and they told me that was not an option. We tried this place for brunch when our friends were in town. This place is right next to the beach, so it is mostly packed- Sunday afternoon was no different. You can order your food on the counter and they bring the food to your table. There are chairs and tables outside and inside but it does feel kind of cramped if you are party of 6 and there are people all around waiting for tables. Food- Everyone who ordered a sandwich was happy with it, so the chicken, avocado and sriracha sandwiches tasted good according to our friends' feedback. However, I got breakfast on a bagel and I was not entirely happy with it. The bagel was chewy I felt, so next time I am there, I know what I am not getting for sure. Pretty good Came here on a groggy Sunday with some friends. Everything came out quickly and the location is perfect. It's right next to the beach so taking your meal to the beach is definitely a possibility. There is not much room inside the restaurant as well, which promotes the idea of a quick walk to the beach to go help start the morning off right. I got the soyrizo breakfast burrito. It had a great flavor but unfortunately was just very small. After I literally thought about getting a second one because it was so teeny. Açaí bowl was very good. We got peanut butter drizzled on top for a little extra, totally worth it! Bacon that came with one of the meals looked like it came straight out of the microwave though... I'm obsessed with the Gringo breakfast sandwich (served all day): super-flaky croissant, generous portion of perfectly-cooked scrambled egg, delicious bacon that's not too soft or too brittle, and a big gob of melted cheddar. Comes with a decent fruit cup on the side: assorted melon, grapes. Cost is 7-something bucks, a good price for freshly-cooked. Best of all, Sacks is half a block from the beach. Seating is indoors or out. There's metered & unmetered street parking all around. Sacks is a small cafe, but I've never had a long wait. Service is efficient... & friendly, from my experience. I don't recommend eating the Gringo in your car (the melted cheese oozes out the sides & the croissant kinda crumbles, being so melt-in-your-mouth flaky)....unless you have a dog with you to happily dispose of the cheesy crumbs. Of course there's always the option of walking a few doors over to the ocean & enjoying your food with a panoramic water view. The exterior of Sacks is cute but the interior not so much, even for a very casual beach cafe. In my opinion the inside could use a makeover. It looks a bit shabby/tired & gives the illusion of being a bit short of sparkling-clean. I think a fresh paint job & some general sprucing-up is in order & would work wonders. We just came here with a group of local moms for our monthly meetup. We were able to find seating right away on a Wednesday morning outside on the patio. They don't take your order. You have to order and pay at the front. But they bring the food to you so that was nice. The waiters and counter people were all friendly and suggested the best items to order. The most popular items were highlighted in yellow on the menu board. I ordered the Swiss which was a croissant sandwich with eggs avocado turkey Swiss and tomato. It was pretty good but not mind blowing. I also had a fresh squeezed orange juice which was great but a little pricey at $4/16 oz. everyone in our group seemed happy with the food they ordered as there were no voiced complaints and no leftovers either! As the morning wore on, the patio was completely full. Which I was surprised about given that it was a Wednesday. Although we all finished our food and lingered around talking we never felt pressured to leave, which is nice. All in all, will definitely come back here again. I really don't want to leave a poor review. The food has always been decent for me. Service as of 2020 and forward has been spotty at best with some hostile counter help. But I still enjoyed eating breakfast at Sacks because they have an outside patio (some random crappy tables and chairs) and are dog friendly. Normally I'd rate this a 3/5 because they can't seem to employ decent staff and the wait time can be excessive. The one star review is for their recent decision to require a vaccine to dine inside their establishment. And let me tell you, the few uncomfortable tables they offer aren't worth losing business over. I've been a customer since 2013 and in 2020 when restaurants were BEGGING us to order carry out, I did that too. I eat here about 3 times a month. However I will no longer give my money to a subpar business that discriminates against the un Vaxxed. Especially when Redondo is not required by mandate to do so. This is a personal decision by the owner and a poor one at that. Their current policy is an un Vaxxed person can come inside to order, but you must immediately go outside and wait for your food. Really??? Safe enough to go inside for 5 minutes and take my money tho. When all this ends (and it's looking like it will since the vaccinated are getting and spreading it too) all these businesses that turned their backs on unvaxxed customers, will find themselves wondering why most will never return. As much as I've enjoyed Sacks and brought countless friends to have coffee with me, I WILL NOT BE BACK. Throwing my loyalty card in the trash. The place looks small, but they have plenty of inside and outside seating. The people here are very friendly and the service was pretty quick. I ordered the The Elvis Waffle, bacon, banana, peanut butter, maple syrup It is a waffle sandwich and served with a side of fruit. The fruit wasn't ripe and a little hard. The waffle had no flavor and was too soft for me. I like a little crispier waffle. It was t overall bad, but it was t anything special. The bacon was good.
