Tony, Anthony, and Victor showed up on time at my apartment in San Francisco, calling about 30 minutes before they arrived. Hiring Safe Movers was the best decision I've made recently from start to finish! I booked them super last minute (4 days before) and they scheduled me down for my preferred date and start time. We recently moved into our new house after being in a "temporary" apartment for the past two years. We originally asked Safe Movers to pack (day 1) and then move our stuff from Kensington to the Berkeley Hills (day 2). We were so impressed by their services and staff that we asked them, at the last minute, to unpack our boxes the following day (day 3). Again, we received incredible service- they were friendly, professional and extremely careful with our things. They took care of our junk/garbage (not just packing supplies, but broken bed frames, old mattresses, etc.). We were so impressed, that when our shipment arrived from Texas the following day (4 truck-loads) I called Nick (the owner) again, to see if his team could help us unpack (day 4). Within a few hours his team was at our door ready to unpack our seemingly endless stream of boxes. As I mentioned they were fantastic! But this is how they went from fantastic to absolutely amazing.... In an effort to "just get it over with" I called Nick to see if his team could come back and unpack the remaining boxes (day 5). Keep in mind this was my third last-minute request. Not to mention it was Sunday and just any Sunday but .... (Gasp) Super-bowl Sunday. I used Safe Movers back in mid 2010. I'm only writing the review now because I just recently found their business card (I couldn't remember the company name back then). Anyways, the fact that I'm writing a review years later goes to show how much I liked these guys. Nick was an absolute professional and made the move quick, easy, and damage free. We moved from a very hilly apartment so they had to park the moving truck down the street and his guys moved everything down the street into the truck. Here's why you should use them: 1. Nick managed the movers to make sure everything was running smoothly. Other moving companies just send movers and you have to manage them. This was very key in making the move stress free. 2. Not a single thing was damaged. 3. They charged what they estimated for the exact amount of time that they were moving. 4. They're honest. During the move, Nick found a valuable ring that we had previously lost. He found it when his guys were packing things up and moving them. I remember this because he came outside and said something like "one of the good things about moving is finding lost treasures" and he gave us the ring. Nick and his team are the best movers I've ever worked with. After nine months of waiting to see whether our short sale purchase would work out, we finally got the OK at the worst possible time. I was changing jobs, studying for a huge exam, leaving town, etc etc. I called many companies for moving quotes, and Safe Movers had the best price by far. Additionally, they were attentive, thorough, and easy to work with. Nick convinced me that having them do the packing would a) make my life easier, and b) not cost an arm and a leg, and he was right! I moved from one SF apartment to another one less than 10 minutes away. It was a last-minute move, on a busy weekend in August. They were quick and efficient. Three very friendly guys were able to move everything in about 2 hours. And that includes carrying up heavy boxes and furniture up three flights of stairs. This was the best moving experience we've ever had. We had a very difficult job of moving very heavy boxes of 20+ foot bamboo from Oakland to San Leandro. No other movers were prepared to do it. Safe movers were confident in their equipment and ability to do it. They visited the site and next day turned up with the trucks, people and equipment needed to do the job. They quoted a flat fee for the job and got the job done without any damage or issues. I'm sure these guys could move just about anything you have. I had a recent move from SF to Berkeley and the day of the move went smoothly. The move took exactly as long as Serpico quoted. I was on the third floor in SF without an elevator and on the second floor in Berkeley, so moving all my stuff in a matter of a few hours was impressive. They moved me on very short notice and did not flinch at the amount of stuff involved. Their employees -- packers and movers -- were the most polite and kind moving company workers that I've ever used. They worked with great speed AND care, never got frustrated as I was stressing out. I never thought I'd use the word "Zen" and "movers" in one sentence, but Nick -- the owner -- has got to be the most zen movers ever. He was also very flexible with the possibility of us not getting the keys to our new home on time, and I felt rest assured that he would accommodate on rescheduling if necessary. Our family has expanded and that means that as a couple we needed to move on to the next step in our creation of a family: getting a bigger home. Despite the stress of California's real estate market, Safe Movers made the added stress of moving non-existent. We first moved our stuff from our 3 story condo to our storage unit in Alameda. The movers who showed up were punctual (arriving 5 minutes before scheduled!) and incredibly careful with our belongings. The move was smooth and pleasant and the movers were professional and courteous. The second move from the storage unit to our new house was just as smooth. And the movers were very good at negotiating the unusual corners and weird doorways of our Victorian. I cannot recommend this company enough, Moving is incredibly vulnerable and expensive, and hectic, and Nick and his crew make it so much easier. They are friendly, polite, honest, on time, everything we hoped for. I called Safe Movers a week before my move, after another mover cancelled on me because the move was too big. It WAS indeed, a big move, 5+ bedrooms, 3 stories, a lot of stuff. Nick didn't even hesitate. He committed to the date, corresponded with me endlessly about the details, and sent me a very reasonable estimate, which I questioned because I thought it should be MORE! In the end, he absolutely fulfilled his end of the bargain. He even sent over a couple of packers the morning of the move to help me get those last minute items, like pictures and lamps, etc., wrapped and ready to go. I am an experienced mover, and I had prepped my house pretty well (212 boxes, all pillows and soft stuff in plastic, furniture legs plastic-wrapped) but Nick's crew came in and really expedited the process. Nonetheless, I ended up with 7 movers, 1 packer, and 3 trucks all day, about 12 hours. Every one of the crew was so careful and thoughtful with my stuff. What was a very long, hard day, was mitigated by the endless charm, cheerfulness, and thoughtfulness of the crew. They assembled stuff, moved furniture and rugs to suit me, even problem-solved on storing a very big piece of furniture in a very small storage space at my new house. But the best part is what came after the move. I had hired a specialist piano mover to move my grand piano and (hopefully) a half-ton marble statue on my front porch. The piano mover (they were very good anyway) declined to move the statue. So a few days after my move, some Safe Movers guys were up at my old house to collect some packing material, and they noticed the statue hadn't been moved yet. They called my cell phone and asked if I'd like for them to bring it over? Can you believe this? Yes, they moved it. These guys are awesome. read more

We hired Safe Movers to come and help us move this week and I couldn't be happier. We had an unfortunate situation occur within our rental home that required us to move FAST. I watched my husband move things to our storage unit for two weekends with poor unsuspecting friends and family. I have no idea how they got some of the furniture (washer/dryer, Ikea bookshelf, etc) up the narrow stairway... but they did it with no causalities to themselves, the walls or the furniture. Marcus and Davon were incredibly fast, careful and polite - I couldn't have asked for a better experience. We even had a few laughs along the way. This is maybe the second yelp post I've written. I got a quote from Nick, called around and found a better price, but I told him about the offer and he beat it. They didn't have a lot to move, just three little items: a 1 ton safe, an 11 ft. bar, and a fire place mantle. Can't say enough about how impressed I was with Nick and his crew today. We are in the basement of a commercial building and there are delicate wood floors between the front door and the elevator. They managed every corner without incident, protected the floors, and even after I was sure they wouldn't be able to fit through a door or around a corner, they managed. I would absolutely use them again. They were very reasonably priced and worth every penny. The whole crew was friendly, and despite their struggles, they joked around quite a bit. The only reason I docked a star was that they showed up with the truck 30 min late without a call. I wish I could only take a .5 off but alas... the limitations of Yelp. read more

We recently moved intra-Oakland, Down Town Lakeside to Temescal. The crew of 3 movers plus Nick (who we got for free on this one) moved things amazingly fast. In about 4 hours they moved our 1 bedroom apartment which included a king size bed, several tables, 3 book shelves + the books, a dresser, a bunch of pots & pans, dishes, clothes, 2 bikes, garden supplies, about 10 paintings, a full sized keyboard, etc. etc. As far as quality and price, you can't get much better. The entire ordeal (not including boxes) cost $400 before tip. They provided all the tape and blankets to protect our furniture and threw in a few garment boxes for free. Everyone was super dependable and friendly. Nick gave us very straight answers about price estimates and there were no hidden charges. I will definitely call them up again next time I move. read more
