Really delicious ice cream! I especially loved the pistachio because it actually has pieces of pistachios in it, which makes such a difference. A lot of places have pistachio-flavored ice cream without any actual nuts, but this one was great. My other favorite is the almond flavor -- I think almond might actually be my new favorite! The location is also perfect for grabbing ice cream and enjoying the sunset nearby.

On our way back to LA from SD we wanted some ice cream. Did a quick Yelp search- Saffron and Rose, what are you doing here?! So excited to see them pop up and had to grab some scoops. I always love the Nutella flavor and paired it with the coffee. The staff were very friendly yet efficient with the long line (they deserve all the love!). Make sure to do some testers before you decide on your flavs! The small size is big enough for me. This location is on such a charming street in Del Mar. We were easily able to find parking as it was later at night and took our dessert on a little evening walk by the beach. Perfect end to my SD getaway.

My friends and I were craving for some ice cream while we were enjoying the sunset at the del mar beach. After a quick yelp search, we found this spot! We parked at the del mar plaza because they have free one hour parking. As soon as we walked up the ice cream place, we found a long line but decided to stick around. The line moved fairly quickly. As soon as we entered the place, we were excited to see so many flavors. The server was gracious enough to let us try some flavors before choosing the one! I got the saffron pistachio and white rose. My husband got chocolate and passion fruit. They also had an option to get waffle cone but we got the normal cup. The ice cream itself was very flavorful and yummy. It was the right amount of sweetness. We liked how they had interesting persian flavors. I highly recommend checking out this spot if you are craving for some yummy ice cream.

We were in the mood for a sweet treat after brunch. The service was very fast. The inside doesn't have seating so you order to go. There are no tables. They have lots of unique flavors to choose from. Not the best ice cream shop in town but great for a quick treat.

Saffron and Rose Persian ice cream has a wide variety of unique flavors including date, white rose, and jasmine. I wanted to try the saffron pistachio but unfortunately it wasn't available when I visited. The ube ended up being my favorite. The ice cream was thick but a little icy. The scoop size was generous and the small size was $7.75. The staff was knowledgeable about allergens in each flavor.

PERSIAN GELATO (3 stars) I prefer Italian gelato. - GELATO, ok - PRICE, ok - SERVICE, good but line moves extremely slow - AMBIANCE, tiny Never had Persian Gelato and my expectations fell flat. Yes, you can sample the flavors and there were flavors I were excited to try only to feel the flavors weee too light and nothing really stood out. Also, the smaller board they post didn't have all the flavors available behind the glass case. 2 SCOOPS ($7.50) - after sampling several, I went for "safe" and picked Nutella and Pomegranate. The Pomegranate was nice - light with its sweet and tartness and it paired well with a chocolate, however my first choice of chocolate wasn't available and settled for Nutella. After eating 1/4 of the small bowl, I was over it (not easy to say for someone who loves ice cream and gelato). There are other gelato and ice cream shops to be hand in the neighborhood. Until the next review....

In the mood for a cool treat, but tired of your typical ice cream (nah... that stuff never gets old!), we'll, if you're in Del Mar, then is is a must-try dessert shop. So many fresh flavors like orange blossom, pomegranate, and white rose, plus mango, cookies and cream and of course vanilla! This is a small place... we had a line out the door in the early afternoon, and there was only a single worker while we were there, so be prepared for a wait! It's not gelato and it's not Italian ice... it's Persian ice cream, and it's amazing! We've tried mango, passion fruit, coconut, and coffee. All delicious... can't wait to go back to try some other flavors!

I was super excited to try Saffron and Rose! My friend from LA had raved about the fresh flavors and now we have a location in Del Mar! I absolutely loved the Jasmine and Pink Rose flavors. The texture is so smooth and light - like a hybrid between gelato, traditional ice cream, and a sorbet. I appreciated that the flavors weren't too sweet. Service was stellar and the workers cheerfully got us a wide range of samples. I need to come back ASAP!

My first time trying Saffron and Rose was a couple years ago in LA, and I love how unique the flavors are. I was thrilled to find out that a location opened in San Diego! The service was amazing from both Rachel and Camila. They both had smiles the entire time, and were so helpful with our questions. There were some popular flavors that ran out such as saffron pistachio. Rachel and Camila said that the store rotates through the different flavors, so eventually flavors like cucumber should come back into the rotation. I decided to get a small scoop ($7.25) of the pink rose and jasmine. The ice cream tasted very floral, unique, and the texture was a cross between ice cream and sorbet. I ended up also buying a pint of pink rose ($12.50) to eat at home. There is also an area where you can add chocolate syrup, cherry syrup, or lemon juice to your ice cream if you would like. Just a heads up that there is no seating inside and only a small bench outside, so prepare to eat standing!

So happy we have a saffron and rose in SD now!! Delicious, creamy, stretchy ice cream with a variety of Persian flavors like saffron and pistachio, white rose, falodeh, or fruit flavors like passion fruit, mango, etc. and many more flavors. The saffron and pistachio is the OG and so delicious. All fresh, quality ingredients. They are also happy to offer samples. No seating but easy to take it to the beach or benches outside.

I had been eyeing this ice cream shop for the past two weeks and made it a point to make a visit at the end of my work week as the "decompression treat". Parking was fairly easy in the plaza street; there are various spots allowing anywhere from 10 minutes to 2 hours free. While the worker did not seem too enthused to be there, I'd say the quality of the product overrode the customer experience. I was hoping there would be more vegan options, but only the grapefruit sorbet and faloodeh (rice noodles and rosewater) fell under that category amongst 10+ flavors. I ended up picking the saffron pistachio and faloodeh. By the time I walked the two minutes down to the beach, a good amount of the saffron pistachio had already melted. It was absolutely divine, though. Paired with a view of the ocean waves and San Diego sun, it was the most perfect way to close out my week. I think I'll be back soon to try their lavender scoop.

I was so excited when I heard they would be opening up in Del Mar! It is always wonderful news when those popular established businesses from LA decide to open up in San Diego. I have been going to Saffron and Rose since I was a little girl in Westwood. The original owner, who was like a grandpa to all of the kids, was always so sweet. I am happy that now his grandchildren are carrying his torch. They used to only have a couple traditional flavors. Now they have expanded to so many delicious new ones. However, if you go definitely give the OG flavors a try (pistachio, faloodeh, rose). These are what they are known and popular for. Dont be like the people who go to Italy and order mac n cheese. It's weird and you are missing out. Get outside your comfort zone or why are you even bothering. I love Persian ice cream as it is not as heavy or too sweet as other kinds. They use natural ingredients so you don't feel disgusting or heavy after. The cucumber especially is the most refreshing on a hot day imo. This place is definitely a must! read more

Loved the unique flavors and texture of this ice cream! Really tasty and refreshing, and great location to get ice cream and walk down to the beach. The ice cream is less creamy than expected due to the style of the ice cream, but it is extremely refreshing and doesn't melt as quickly. The saffron pistachio was my favorite for sure, with rose flavor in there as well. I also got the date ice cream which was also excellent. Highly recommend if you want a unique ice cream experience! read more

I usually opt out of eating ice cream, but when I tried the ice cream they sell at Saffron and Rose, I just fell in love. It tastes delicious and not extremely sweet like generic ice creams are. It's just perfect. They always have a line out the door, which actually makes me happy that this new shop, that is trying to provide healthier options for dessert, is becoming more and more popular. read more

With a line out the door we were so excited to try the new ice cream shop. We were first put off by the customer service. The young lady helping us rolled her eyes when my kids asked for a sample to select a flavor. Once we selected we weren't fans of the lack of flavor. This was our first Persian ice cream experience, but to us the ice cream tasted more like slightly flavored ice. The strawberry didn't taste like strawberry. The cookies and cream were bland. The only flavor in the caramel crunch was the little caramel chocolates. It looks like they have some kind to work out and we are hoping they do. read more

We had saffron pistachio rose ice cream in New Mexico and it was fantastic.Had to Google and see if there was some in San Diego County. Lo and behold this heavenly place pops up. Went there a couple of weeks ago and it did not disappoint. Orange blossom, date and saffron pistachio we ate there. So delicious. Got a pint of Rose to take home; it didn't make it! had spoons in the car and we ate the whole thing on the way home. Be prepared to make this place a regular experience. Yesterday it was lavender and rose. Excellent. So glad Saffron and Rose has come to town! Look forward to our next visit. read more

Fell in love with Faloodeh and cucumber. So refreshing and light. They always have lemon juice and cherry syrup that go with Faloodeh but the new item which is a killer is Pomegranate syrup. strongly recommend the place lovely Staff. read more

Came in here last Friday night with my buddy Carl. Kylie and Natalia were super helpful and gave me samples that tasted great. I ultimately got butter pecan which was a delicious flavor. Cucumber was not my favorite though. Love the atmosphere and the tunes they put on. I will return again to this location after this amazing experience. read more

Came here with some friends for the first time and fair to say we are going to become frequenters to this ice cream shop! The saffron and pistachio flavor reminded me of home and it was very flavorful. I also recommend the rose flavor and orange blossom flavor if you like floral and light flavors. This is an LA company that is expanding to SD and we welcome this epic explosion of persian ice cream flavor . The service is fast & nice. All the flavors are amazing, and the ice cream consistency is top notch.Some favorites right now is the saffron , the faloudeh, the walnut chocolate & rose and the passion fruit. I feel like I actually supervised the construction myself as I walked my dogs by each day eagerly awaiting their opening. We had been to the Westwood location years ago and waited in a Saturday night in a very long line so learning that one was opening in Del Mar was soooo exciting. The first time I went they were sold out of the pistachio saffron so obviously we had to go back a couple of days later. It did not disappoint. That is my favorite but we just tried that banana and that was also fantastic. I should also note that I have never liked pistachio ice cream and normally would bypass fruit ice cream flavors but these are the exception. read more

The most imporant thing in any cookie is the actual dough and theirs is always the perfect balance of buttery and sweet! I despise dry crumbly cookies and these never even come close. They are all so good! The staff has alway been very nice and when I have gone it is never outrageously busy. Worth the detour everytime.

What a fantastic ice cream experience. The first thing that stood out was the customer service. The staff was incredibly patient, friendly, and genuinely passionate about their products. They happily let us sample multiple flavors without making us feel rushed, which made choosing both fun and enjoyable. The ice cream itself was outstanding. You can immediately tell that high quality ingredients are being used. Every flavor we tried was rich, creamy, smooth, and packed with flavor without being overly sweet. The waffle cone deserves its own mention. Fresh, crisp, flavorful, and far better than the standard cones you find at most ice cream shops. It added so much to the overall experience. The variety of flavors was impressive, and it was clear that a lot of care goes into both the recipes and presentation. I've traveled to many countries including Italy, France, and Türkiye and have visited nearly every American state, but this charming little ice cream shop by Del Mar beach truly stands out. The flavors are exceptional, and the quality is absolutely outstanding. Rachel was fantastic. she generously offered me many samples and was incredibly knowledgeable about the ingredients and flavor profiles. My favorite was the ube paired with their French espresso. It reminded me of the affogato I had in Napoli with pistachio, but this combo, as my grandson says, was way better. The saffron ice cream, however, was completely out of this world mesmerizing, complex, and almost impossible to describe. It left me pleasantly confused in the best possible way. Finally, a really high quality ice cream came to San Diego. This little cozy place, other than inside seating, has so much to offer. Many unique, tasty, creamy, chewy and mind blowing ice cream to chose from. The more you sample the harder it gets to pick a favorite. The staff are so friendly and helpful explaining with what goes with what. After trying almost ten flavors we ended up with Taro and french esspresso mix. Now that I am writing this, I am craving the orange blossom that apparently goes really well with the frozen noodle in rose syrup. The peraian style is that you add a few drops of lemon juice and cherry syrup which are there for you. I am hooked bigly and will be there this weekend again. read more

I recently visited this charming little boutique ice cream shop in the heart of Del Mar, and it completely exceeded my expectations. The shop is beautiful, spotless, and the ocean view is absolutely breathtaking. They serve premium-quality ice cream with unique, delicious flavors you won't find just anywhere.
