On my recent trip to SF with a girlfriend, we frequented there four days in a row (stayed across the street at Hotel Santa Fe) and became 'hooked' to Sage! Look hard for this local gem - it is tucked on the corner of a small business row, with a narrow parking driveway, the shared sign is minuscule and the front door is hidden by the front porch overhang. Oh, my goodness!! This was such a delightful place to eat break. This kind of bakery is my dream of heaven. Freshly baked goods and friendly people. After we got coffee from another local shop, we came here for breakfast. My husband ordered the scrambled eggs with cheese and I ordered the ham tart and the almond croissant. Everything was perfect. Upon entry the place smells so good of fresh baked goods. The service is amazingly quick and the pastries are magical. I got a Gruyère Ham pastry on my walk around and did a grab and go. It was warm! It was crunchy and flaky on the outside and soft and savory on the inside. It was the perfect morning fix for a long day in Santa Fe. What a lovely find. I randomly discovered the sourdough at Smith's in Los Alamos. Since we were going to Santa Fe the next day I knew I had to try where it originated. I'm so glad I did, everything was excellent, fast, large and reasonably priced. This handwritten curated menu is all you need. Didn't realize you get bread and butter with dine-in, what a wonderful surprise! The butternut green chili soup was the absolute best butternut soup I've ever had. Loved the avocado smash toast with pancetta I think? Crispy, easy to bite into, not like prosciutto which can be chewy. Loved the delicious olives that came on the side. The staff here is great - everyone is kind and friendly. Really felt like a comfortable local spot, I was very at home there. If I lived in town I'd be there constantly. Also got some pastries to go- all *amazing* but my favorite is the almond croissant!! Get everything you can. read more

Stumbled upon this gem as we were looking for a place to grab coffee. Such a cute little cafe with amazing coffee, baked goods, salads, sandwiches and above all fresh bread! As we entered, the smell of freshly baked bread was intoxicating and my eyes immediately scoped out the fresh bread shelf with a variety of breads displayed. In addition the fresh pastries all of which I wanted to have but obviously couldn't. We ended up ordering double cappuccinos, 1/2 egg salad sandwich and a pain au chocolat the size of which was massive. Everything was fresh and scrumptious. The coffee was nice and strong! Mixed feelings on this, obviously, very popular (and very crowded) local spot. We picked up pastries from here twice, just to make sure. On the one hand we had a truly excellent apple tart. Just about as perfect an apple tart as an apple tart can get. But then on the other hand we got a cinnamon roll which was about as dry as the desert. And on yet another hand, the other items we got, including a pear tart which we would've assumed would be just as tasty as the apple version, were just OK. I think I'm gonna split the difference here and say this place is just OK. But I'd definitely go back for that apple tart. read more

I love their bread, and appreciate thatbtheu source local flour. Their half egg sandwich is also a delicious lunch. I appreciate that they pay their staff a loving wage and the order online option is fantastic! I make sandwiches for work trips and it makes me happy to go there for a 3lb loaf of bread I can order online and ask for it sliced, then pop by to pick it up. I returned on my last morning to pick up bread for home and gifts as well as a Tartine with egg and a fresh tomato (5). Also, per recommendation from local patron, bought an oatmeal pecan cookie to go. I could try every tartine, sandwich, bread, and pastry if I lived here!
