Wow this place is a freakin hidden gem! I came in for lunch as I was working in the area and was surprised how friendly the staff was and good the food was. Got the garlic noodles which were perfectly al dente with a super strong garlic flavor. The meat (chicken and pork belly) was perfectly cooked so the inside was super moist! The pork belly was to die for crispy on the outside! The drinks were great as well. I had a thai tea which was not overly sweet so def a plus there. The meat is flavorful and had a Smokey flavor that compliments the noodles and veggie well. My sister got the kimchi fried rice with pork belly.My husband devoured the Banh Mi sandwich and said he loved the texture of the bread. For drinks we had the passion fruit spritzer and strawberry lemonade. These were both sweetened just right and wasn't watered down. I definitely want to come back and try the garlic noodles. Strictly based off of food I would give this place a 10/5 stars. It's super delicious. I ordered the garlic noodles and a bahnmi sandwich and shared with a friend. The chicken was super tender and flavorful with the noodles and sauce they give you. The bahnmi was super good as well. The only thing was that the bread was a bit crumbly (reheated bread and not super fresh rolls). However the only reason why I am giving 4 stars is because it was quite expensive for the portions. You have an option to change the pickup time if you want your order earlier or later. Whether you eat in or take it out, all items are packaged to go. You can place your order inside via the cashier or kiosk. Saiga doesn't take cash. Indoor seating is limited. I loved my Grilled Pork Vermicelli dish just wished that the sauce wasn't spicy because I normally douse my dish with it. I thoroughly enjoyed the eggroll and wished I ordered more . I walked in and was delighted to learn that they offer both frozen and fresh meals. The frozen meals (chicken pho, brisket pho, fried rice, etc) sit inside a commercial size freezer in the lobby where you can grab one yourself, pay, and head out. Their menu of fresh meals include banh mi, bowls, and noodles with a variety of proteins (including tofu.) Their drink menu is extensive in that it ranges from milk tea and Vietnamese coffee to fruit juices to standard soda pop. I tried a tofu banh mi and took home a frozen chicken pho. The tofu banh mi had a tasty sauce, spice from the jalapeños, and the baguette had a crisp crust and soft inside. I'm saving the frozen chicken pho for a cold night, I'm excited. I previously visited Saiga in Orange and decided to try the OG irvine location. The customer service is great, the staff is super helpful, and the food is just as good as the Orange location. I tried the guava lemon green tea, garlic noodles with crispy pork belly, and the vermicelli noodles with bbq chicken. Guava green tea was so delicious and refreshing (not too sweet and is natural to beware of pulp at the bottom), the garlic noodles were delicious but that crispy pork belly was out of this word (crispy skin, melt in your mouth center), and the vermicelli noodles were a perfectly balanced meal with some fresh veggies and the delicious bbq chicken. The meat was the stand out. I had the pork belly and grilled pork. I'm not sure which one I like better, they were both excellent. And the green aioli was outstanding! I didn't get a chance to eat inside, but pick up was easy and quick. It is in an unassuming warehouse area. There is limited seating, but plenty of people filling the tables on a Friday afternoon. I've had this place bookmarked for a while and finally got to try Saiga Eatery - it's a smart kitchen so there's only a few tables to sit at, and you order through their kiosk as well. Their pho broth is so dark that you know it's going to have so much depth in flavor (and it did), and their garlic noodles were bomb too. Their BBQ chicken though is another level - so tender and juicy, even after a day (I took it home as leftovers). Their drinks and appetizers are solid too (looking at the lychee lemonade). If Saiga was located in an area without Vietnamese food, my feelings about it would probably be different. Saiga reminds me of Nguyen's Kitchen which is another eatery that serves Vietnamese food. I grew up closer to Garden Grove and Westminster, where authentic Vietnamese food is plentiful. The food here may be enough to satisfy the Vietnamese food craving in a rush, but it was missing the TLC. I ordered ahead online scheduled for 10:35, I arrived shortly after and my order was not ready. The male employee told me that it would be another 3-4 minutes which is fine. The kitchen forgot to make my order of popcorn chicken so I didn't walk out until about 10:50-10:55? 15-20 minutes after my scheduled pickup time. If I was on my lunch break, I would definitely be pretty mad. I overheard a female employee constantly checking with a sense of urgency to see if my chicken was ready which was nice. As for the food, it was pretty average and missing the secret ingredient of love. The garlic noodles with pork belly was disappointing. It looks great but the noodles didn't have much flavor and were really dry. The pork belly was alright. Little bit of crisp but was dry since it's sliced so thin. Wasn't a fan of their green sauce. The vermicelli bowl was also okay. Closer to something Vietnamese. The salad was refreshing with the fish sauce dressing, the BBQ chicken was tender, but the vermicelli itself was a bit over and missing the bite and chew. Finally, the popcorn chicken was massively disappointing and not worth the extra wait time. It's heavily breaded and flavor was lacking. Overall, I'd rate my experience a 3-3.5. I'll preface this with saying I was not expecting to be so impressed with the food at this place since it just looks like it's aimed at takeaway mainly for people on lunch break. Also it for some reason reminded me of bibigo which I was never really impressed with. Glad I was wrong though. When I tasted the food I was very pleasantly surprised. You could honestly take the food out of the takeout containers and place them nicely on some real dishes and I'd think they were from a full service restaurant. ITEMS: Kimchi Fried Rice (w/ pork belly) Garlic Noodles (w/ chicken) Thai Tea Vietnamese Coffee I've had all the items at other places, so there were lots of taste reference points in mind, and they all of course taste somewhat different at the respective restaurants. Overall they balanced out the flavors well in the dishes and executed the basic things correctly. The Kimchi rich was not overcooked so the grains still had texture and for my own personal taste I'm glad it was not the overly sour kimchi flavor. I think it's the broken rice style (smaller rice grains) which you commonly find in Viet Dishes. A good amount of pork belly was given and worked well with the rice. Garlic noodles are a must and these had the proper amount of garlic flavor as well as chew. I've been to some places where the garlic noodles taste very bland, so glad these did not taste like that. The protein here was also very generous and they cooked the meat well so that it was not dry. Being the Viet Coffee aficionado that I am I can say they make a good one here, better than I've had at some solely drink spots. It's all a balance between the coffee & condensed milk which sounds simple but has its complexities. Don't think you're lost when you are navigating yourself here.
