Hidden in the middle of the Sky Park Business Center, this little gem can be a little hard to find but is worth the visit. It's a small little restaurant with a few tables inside and outside to enjoy your food. Definitely more of a takeout spot than dine in. Overall we loved everything and just wish they were open on the weekends too! Pork Belly Banh Mi - Soooo good! One of the best banh mi I've ever had. The bread had the perfect crunch with a soft and chewy inside. The pork belly was nice and fatty without being too oily and had a good amount of meat layered under the crispy skin. It was so juicy and tender that it blended well in the sandwich. At the end we wish we got a second banh mi. Pork Belly Garlic Noodles - Couldn't get enough of the pork belly so we got it on the garlic noodles as well. The garlic noodles are your basic no frills garlic noodles. The garlic was surprisingly sweet. I kept eating the little garlic pieces even after all the noodles were gone. This is place is a little hard to find because it's hidden in the sky park area around several offices with similar looking building spaces. Once you get here, it's very cute and intimate with a friendly staff. For my first time I wanted to try a variety of things, so I went for the garlic noodles, chicken sandwich, popcorn chicken and Vietnamese iced coffee, yum! Everything was amazing! The noodles you need to eat right away, the sandwich and popcorn chicken were fine to have leftovers later. If you want to order a lot, I recommend coming with a friend or two to try everything. Flavorful, meaty chicken...perfect for a healthy lunch. Couldn't really taste much of the kimchi flavor of the kimchi fried rice, expect when I bite into a piece of the kimchi...could use a little bit more spice. The fried egg was nicely runny. I was so surprised by how GOOD this place was!! That was hands down the best crunchy pork belly I've ever had. Fresh out of the kitchen, it was perfectly crunchy and salty. Not the kind of crunch that's too hard on your teeth, but just enough to give you a satisfying bite. I paired mine with the garlic noodles which was a great combo. If I HAD to compare to vox, only because everyone uses that as a point of comparison, I'd say it's pretty close! The green aioli sauce is pretty spot on too. It has a slight kick to it. We also tried the lemon grass pork with rice. It was also so delicious. I could taste the smokiness of the grill and it had a great char on it. Their salad was a refreshing pairing with it. Had take outs several times from here. 1) Banh mi is great, especially the grilled pork. The bread is soft with crunchy exterior, and the grilled pork is super flavorful (lemongrass hit you immediately followed by smoky taste). 2) Pho broth can be inconsistent; my first time having it was unpleasant bc it was so darn salty, but the second time was great (well seasoned, full of pho broth goodness) 3) Garlic noodles are incredibly dry and flavorless. The chicken is juicy and balanced flavor with garlic noodles. If you are a fan of spicy food, the green chili sauce is so good when it is added on the noodles. I also have grilled pork banh mi, the combination of flavors are pretty well with sweet and sour. And can't go wrong with the Thai tea drink for whoever love sweet and strong flavors drink. I just went back to Saiga because I wanted to try more of their frozen meals. Unfortunately they ran out of the Kimchi Fried rice so I got the Chicken Pho and the Egg fried rice. The chicken pho was sooo good. At first I didn't see the chicken, but it was just hidden towards the bottom of it and they had big pieces in it too. The broth was good as usual and it was the perfect meal for me to eat at work since I only have half an hour to eat. I can't wait to try the Egg Fried Rice next week and I'll keep you updated on that. I also have never had their banh mi's here and hope to try them someday soon. This hidden gem in Irvine has some of the best Vietnamese food for takeaway, AND if you can't get enough, they even have ready-to-heat meals that are perfect for meal prep. I'm not a fan of soda so lemonade and juices have my heart. They offer strawberry lemonade, but their lychee lemonade though? Such a good twist on the classic! I've been seeing their garlic noodles and banh mi all over social media, so I decided I had to try it out myself one day. Note that they are only open on the weekdays from 10-2pm, so if you want something for the weekend, make sure to grab it during the weekdays! Pork Belly Banh Mi ($10.75)- I was told this was one of their best selling items so I decided that I had to try it out, plus, I've never had crispy pork belly in my banh mi before! It was my time of the month to crave Vietnamese food and I happened to come across this wonderful place on Yelp. The earliest time they open is 10AM, which happens to be the time I normally take my lunch. Today was busy so I ended up taking lunch closer to 11:30. Being that this place was about 20 minutes from my work I decided to call in my order. I ordered the following: Kimchi Fried Rice w/ Belly, Grilled Pork Vermicelli w/ Eggroll, and Garlic Noodles w/ BBQ Chicken. It happens to be in an area surrounded by small businesses. At first glance you couldn't even tell that this place housed a kitchen making delicious Vietnamese food. Inside, you'll see a small table to sit and eat, the counter, and a fridge. I proceeded to the counter and provided my name to pick up my order. After about 5 minutes I received my brown bag of 3 meals, which gave off such a pleasant aroma (I can smell each meal individually except for the vermicelli, of course). I hurried back to work and when I arrived, I used the little time that I had left of my lunch to eat half of everything. Here are my thoughts: - Kimchi Fried Rice w/ Belly: This was addicting. The kimchi fried rice had a good, pleasant flavor that made it hard to stop eating. The pork belly was tasty as well. I wish there was more of it (there wasn't too much in the dish), but it's OK, I enjoyed every piece that I had. The fried egg I ate whole ;D. This place maybe is good for takeout but eating in isn't great - it's small, they pack everything to go, there's no real silverware (just plastic to go cutlery), and worst of all - no restroom ! The food is decent - although there is no real fish sauce (they give sweet chili sauce instead) alongside the vermicelli bun and the fried eggrolls are fine but more like typical Chinese style vs the thin Vietnamese rice paper rolls I was hoping for. Also there were no fresh spring rolls on the menu and the iced Vietnamese coffee was just ok - more coffee bean taste vs the nice condensed milk sweetness I was hoping for. I have been wanting to check out this place after seeing pictures of their famous pork belly on Instagram. Because they close up early, I was never able to make it on time because I don't live in the area and I come to Irvine for appointments. This place is truly a hidden little gem in the middle of a lot of business area. It was a little hard for me to find since I'm not familiar with this neighborhood. Very much worth the trip!
