The brisket pho is my go to. The broth has a rich taste and good balance...not too salty, not too light, and not sweet which is a deal breaker for me (a sign of some serious MSG usage). Perfect small Vietnamese restaurant. I get lunch here at least once a week. Friendly and quick service. Great veggie pho with plenty of vegetables and flavor, and tasty bbq pork spring rolls. Bahn Mi is not their specialty, but it's still good (and so cheap it's worth it). Looking forward to trying other menu items. read more

Having eaten in most of the Pho places in the Southbay, I would rate this place at the bottom of the list. It's located in a cute building, inside is typical pho house. The pho is smallish in size, the broth unspectacular, and the dish of garnish is wilted and mediocre looking. I can't attest to the quality of the rise dishes, but I would pass on eating the pho again. read more

I always go here for Pho. The rare steak is soft and tender compared to other places where it's like jerky. I also do not feel rushed at all and can sit down, enjoy my pho, and watch tv. Other Vietnamese restaurants on Carson St like to rush you to the point where you can't enjoy your food. The servers are nice and service is just right! One thing though is the next door shop crowds the parking. That is the only annoying thing going here. read more

Get the Pho. It's great. I always get #12. It comes with lots of vegetables, more so than the meat pho's anyway, plus fried tofu. The crispy spring rolls are great. They have other stuff besides pho and crispy spring rolls, but I don't really care. The service is always quick too. read more

i don't know about the food here but the owner is paranoid about people parking in his lot and then eating next door @ yamadaya. he was walking around with a camera and camcorder for reasons unknown recording dh's excellent parking job (?!) and apparently regularly gets people towed. maybe spend more time focused on why your parking lot is constantly empty as opposed to stalking the patrons of a neighboring restaurant? just saying. read more

Good pho! Our orders came very quickly, we didn't have to wait much. The flavor of the soup was good. Some pho restaurants' soup is too sweet for me but this was just right. I ordered #1 with bunch of different kinds of meat. My only complaint is it only had one piece of tendon. I wanted to order tendon and flank, which was not on the menu. I was looking up pho spots close to home OTHER than pho king way. I pulled in the parking lot which they share with a taco spot I've been to a few times. Walked in (partyof 1) and was told I could take a seat anywhere. I ordered a shrimp pho with a water. Nothing special because I was hung over. Otherwise i would've done a Thai tea for sure. Broth was yummy and they even had the crispy one garnish which I love. To my surprise I didn't need all the extra limes like I usually do and the shrimp tails had already been removed. Yay! it was ok. i ordered a large and the soup came out fast and hot but i felt like i was eating a medium sized bowl. maybe i was expecting a lot after reading the reviews. the taste was clean. it wasnt addicting like the other phos. i dont think ill be going back there. overall it was ok. its still better than a fast food restaurant. read more

the food is okay. I always give tips with pleasant amount $$$ until one day my co-worker told me that he has a friend who works there said that all the staffs are not allowed to get the tips. The tips jar they leave near the counter is all for the owner. That is really not right!! read more

I recently moved to the area and wanted to find a local pho restaurant. Since I live down the street from saigon bistro, I thought that I would give it a try and the reviews seemed decent. As I read the reviews and the hours of this place, The first thing that I thought was odd was that this establishment is closed on Saturday's. Anyways, I had ordered some pho and rolls. The rolls came out first and they were not that bad. Good start. Shortly later, my soup arrives. I take a couple of sips of the soup first and it was decent. Not the best and not the worst I've tried. Next, I start to mix the noodles and notice that they are rock hard. As I continue to mix, the noodles start to loosen up but never fully soften up. I add my veggies to the soup and begin to eat. That first bite was very disgusting. It seems that the noodles that they had in the soup was very old and that was the reason why the noodles were hard and difficult to break up. I try another bite and instantly spit it out. "Wow, wtf was that?" was running thru my mind. I ask the waiter to bring out the manager or owner. He asks if something is wrong and I explain to him yes and that I would like to speak to a manager or owner. So, he goes to the back and gets a person. Who this person is, I have no idea. He was younger. I explain to him the situation and he begins to argue with me that they have never had a complaint and that this is a first. No apologies or no trying to fix the complaint, just trying to argue with me. I told the guy, look I'm not trying to argue, just wanted to let them know that there product that they are trying to serve me tastes horrible. So, this guy decides to try and make me pay for the whole meal. Wow, talk about unprofessional. Don't get me wrong, I have no problem paying for the rolls, since I did eat them, but at that point why bother charging me for what has been a very disgusting experience? Most establishments try to make right to what is wrong, but this hole in the toilet did not try to do that and made a bad experience worse by treating a customer with a complaint like shit. I highly recommend you to avoid this place. read more

Clean and spacious restaurant, fast and friendly service, inexpensive, and mediocre food. They have couple of flat screens to watch the news while eating. I've eaten here about five times for lunch. I'm not impressed with their pho. The broth is greasy. I also tried their chicken and rice dish and it was weak. I ordered a standard charbroiled chicken and rice, but the chicken was marinated with Asian-style BBQ sauce. Gave this place an extra star because it received an "A" from the health department and the place looks like a legit-enough restaurant to bring your non-Asian coworker or friend who's scared to try pho. Came here with my 3 kids. Service was great, very courteous and friendly. Ambiance is a typical Vietnamese restaurant circa 80's, but in used to it. The food however was ok. Would I return, no. But because I know I can find another pho place that really taste like pho. I'm sad to say this because the people are nice but maybe this will help them. I order the com bi cha Thit nuong. The meat is not"BBQ charred" like how I usually get it from other places and doesn't really taste good (I didn't finish my meat), egg cake was good and nuoc mam ( but that's too easy to fail making that). My kids ordered pho chin and pho bo vien. The broth was not up to par. It didn't taste like pho broth. The meat had a lot of fat. I don't mind fat but we got one good meat. The Bo vien was good. Just not the pho broth which I think they should consider remaking. Sorry Saigon bistro but this will be my last visit. read more

Ok so now after bad mouthing repeatedly another nearby Pho place I had to go there for may heatwave Bun. What can I say -- eggroll here was hot and crispy the noodles were cold and the lettuce was ... lettuce ... not a tablespoon of shredded iceberg. Everything I've ever eaten there over the years is simply the best (and BTW if you DO want your Pho oily you can get the pool of fat on the side complete with a chunk of green onion swimming in it... yeah I like a little fat on the side once in a while.) So why don't I just go straight there all the time and why only 4 stars? Their "credit card" situation. Penny wise and pound foolish. It is a little out of the way, but the fact that I can't pay with CC -- oh officially it's $15 min for CC but he owner offers to let me use my CC because I've been a customer nearly a decade but last time he did the card was blocked due to a "data entry error at the restaurant." like I said Penny Wise Pound Foolish, I used to go there nearly once a week but now maybe 2-3 times a year when I really crave it. But hey he saves 2-3 cents not charging individual dinners on CC. Does it make up for the lost sales? read more
