    Pho Dac Biet $17.00
    Erik G.

What We Ordered: -Pho Dac Biet $17.00 -Pho Bo Vien $14.00 -44B Bun Chao Tom & Bo Nuong & Cha Gio $17.25 We've been searching for a go-to pho spot and got this recommendation from my friend, Cindy S. She mentioned that the same family that owns Golden Deli in San Gabriel also owns this no-frills gem. I had the name confused last time and went to Saigon Eden instead. This time I made sure to write it down. Let's be honest, no one writes anything down anymore. I even took a screenshot of the Yelp page to be sure! I was a bit disappointed to see they have a B rating for their inspection. My wife ordered the meatball pho, Pho Bo Vien ($14.00), and thought it was pretty good. For myself, I ordered Pho Dac Biet ($17.00), which comes with rare and cooked beef, tendon, and tripe. I paid extra for ribeye. It was a carnivore's dream and pretty good. Everyone seasons pho differently. I like to taste the broth first to decide how much sugar and spice to add. I use sriracha and jalapeños for spice, hoisin for sweetness, and lime for sourness. It really depends on personal preference. I wanted to try two dishes, indecisively. The waitress asked if I was sure, as it was a lot of food, but I assured her I could handle it. We couldn't finish it all, even with my wife's help! We had plenty of Bun Chao Tom & Bo Nuong & Cha Gio for dinner later. The 44B Bun Chao Tom & Bo Nuong & Cha Gio ($17.25) had rice vermicelli noodles (bun), Chao Tom (shrimp paste), grilled beef (Bo Nuong), egg rolls (cha gio), and vegetables. It came with a sweet and sour fish sauce. This was our favorite of the three dishes. I wasn't blown away, but it was pretty good and better than other spots I've been to. Nothing lives up to the hype of Golden Deli, though. The waitress was friendly and quick to refill water. I would come back and bring my son next time.

I have been coming to Saigon Flavor for years, their food is good and so are their prices. They have all the typical Vietnamese items on the menu and it's all good, but apparently when my niece wanted curry, the server told us that their curry isn't the best. lol. I appreciate the honesty. There's a good number of tables inside so unless it's super busy, it's pretty easy to get a seat. The rooster sauce on the table - I think they refill the bottle with some other brand because it looks and tastes different. Service is great, but I think they're even nicer to us because my husband's family speaks Chiu Chow to the servers. Gaginang!

One of the homiest bun Bo hue I've had in a long time. It was either this or the Kim Com Tam and I'm glad I went here per yelps recommendation. I've had had bun Bo hue in garden grove as well and this is by far way better. Ample meat, great homie broth, super low key. Broth is full of lemongrass and spices. I wish they added more lemongrass.... Overall it's pretty good

    Pho was yummy

Soild spot for pho and other Vietnamese dishes! Their menu has a huge selection, whether you want noodle soup, sandwiches, curry, rice dishes, they've got you covered! Parking can be tough since they don't really have a big parking lot but there is street parking. Service is ok, could be more attentive and friendly. Not too loud or busy so that was nice Ordered the pho (large combo with beef, tendon, and tripe) - $13.75 - it was delicious and packed with plenty of beef, tendon, and tripe! Broth was very flavorful without being too overly salty. Noodles were very soft and chewy. This was 8/10 for me Would recommend and return

    Best Bun Rieu in town!

Whenever I'm craving bun rieu, Saigon Flavor is the place to go. I've tried other Vietnamese places around San Gabriel, but they all seem to lack flavor or the noodle just wasn't right. Here, you can tell by the color of the broth and the thin noodles that it's going to be good. Do you also see how big their crab meatballs are?! So flavorful and good. I highly recommend! Service is great, they speak English well. They also accept credit cards.

    Cozy atmosphere!

Insanely delicious! I don't say this lightly as Saigon flavor has the absolutely BEST egg rolls ever!! Chicken curry soup is pure perfection!! You're missing out big time if you don't treat your palate by dining here!

A must! Cross-sec of the Phan Cha Gio (Vietnamese Fried Spring Rolls). Just as good as Golden Deli!
    Cindy S.

I love it here! Saigon Flavor is owned and operated by the same family as Golden Deli, so I was curious to how they both compared to one another. If you are not from LA, the story is Golden Deli is considered one of the top or best restaurants for Vietnamese food in the 626 area. It's a local favorite and long wait times are expected and not uncommon. The difference at Saigon Flavor is there are no lines out the door or long waits ;however, the food is almost identical as GD and just as good in my humble opinion. Pho : Great tasting broth that's been simmering for hours with plenty of meat and fresh side veggies/herbs. 5/5! Bun Rieu (tomato crab soup): Very strong pungent tasting broth from the stock ingredients : dried shrimp, crab paste, fish sauce, shrimp paste. Acquired taste. Many people that love this soup say it's great here. Phan Cha Gio (Vietnamese fried spring rolls): Perfection. Tastes exactly the same as GD's version. A must order! 5/5! Com Tam (Broken Rice Plates): Solid choice, they make it good here. 5/5! Overall the food here is great, service attentive. Slight language barrier, but you are understood when ordering from the menu, no worries. Nice parking space in the back. Credit and Cash accepted.

Small spot that you can easily pass by accident. Which I did, and just did street parking. Came in for lunch and the staff were super friendly and smiley. I'd recommend the egg rolls. They remind me of Golden Deli. It's very crispy and chewy! Taste great! Bun Rieu was also very good. Tasted very authentic and you can taste the shrimp. Good portion size for the price!

We just checked into the hotel across the street, and my family was starving. The hotel recommended this spot, and it was well rated on Google and Yelp, so decided to give it a try. We walked in during the late afternoon, so it wasn't too busy. It looked like a typical family owned restaurant. We were quickly seated. We ordered and tried the following: - Pho - Good. Simple, good broth, generous size - Banh Beo - Not good. The rice cake was cooked improperly so it had an unpleasant broken texture. - Banh Tam Bi - Ok. This dish was the most interesting to me because I hadn't seen it before, so I wanted to try it. It was fine, but not special. I'm accustomed to disinterested service. In fact, I generally expect it. But I felt the service was particularly surly, which is why I knocked my rating down to two stars.

*Phan Cha Gio: crispy and qq from rice paper wrapping. comes w 5 egg rolls, 4 leaves of green leaf lettuce, 4 slices of cucumbers, basil/bean sprouts assortment, and fish sauce. *Com Chao Tom & Cha Gio & Cha: rice plate w shrimp paste, egg roll, and baked egg w steamed rice. filling dish w lots of rice. baked egg was moist. -small parking lot entrance located before the restaurant building

Was craving a good bun rieu (Vietnamese tomato-based crab noodle soup) and we usually go to Golden Deli San Gabriel for this but decided to see if there's another local place that offers this dish. I'm used to GD's style presentation and flavor profile for this dish so I'm usually hesitant to try new places. I read somewhere that this place is very similar to GD so why not try it out? We arrived to their private back parking lot (a plus!) a bit after they opened. There's maybe room for 10 or so cars. Upon entering the restaurant, it was very similar to GD's decor but with less buzz and no queue. Immediately, we were handed menus and I looked for bun rieu. Menu is similar to GD both in terms of items offered, down to typeface. Bun rieu arrived after about 10 mins and it looked pretty similar. Taste wise, it was yummy and I added most of the lime and herbs that were given. I was a happy camper! We also had an order of fresh spring rolls which were tasty and rounded out the meal. At the last minute, I also ordered a dessert drink. It was full of coconut strings, red bean, condensed and evaporated milk and jelly strings. Definitely a treat...sweet, indulgent and another one of my many guilty pleasures. Service is fine, very homey and even if there may be a language barrier as some reviewers have mentioned, the staff will be there for you to help make your experience. I hope to be back soon to try other items but I'll probably stick with my trusty bun rieu hahaha

Service was super quick and all the people here are very friendly. They did their best to get us comfortable as our part was a bit big and required more space, which I really appreciated. It's a really cute Vietnamese restaurant if you're in the San Gabriel area and are craving Vietnamese food. I was not in a Vietnamese food mood, but the family was, so I went with my comfort choice and ordered the Com Suon Cha Gio (Pork Chop and Eggroll with Steamed Rice). Flavors were strong and eggroll had a good crunch. The portion is huge too, with a large bed of rice on the plate and the meat and eggrolls on top. The one that really had my mouth watering was the hu tieu my fiance ordered. It was a dry noodle type of dish, but there was so much sauce, it looked amazing. Unfortunately my plate had me too full to try it, but I'll be sure to order that next time I go back.

Ohhhh Saigon Flavor you may have change your look over the years but the food..... still hits the spot everything. I been here with my Family when I was a teenager and it's still amazing taste like home cooked food and the service is always great and amazing. They are patient and will explained to you what your ordering and will even recommend you their most popular items. The ambiance is like walking back into my past homestyle dining life back in the island life. Saigon flavor you don't ever disappointment, they do get busy so keep that in mind when coming on and they closed on Tuesday that's been since day one lol

Overall, we really enjoyed the meal, everything was flavorful and satisfying. The only thing I didn't like were that the sliced beef in the bún bò huế was a bit chewy, and the chả in the soup was just okay. That said, the dry vermicelli dishes really stood out, and I'd definitely come back to order those again.

That's right, 5 minutes. Although I did go around 9:50AM so there wasn't a line nor another party in the dining area. Food: I woke up craving Vietnamese and this place didn't disappoint. The Bon Rieu had the depth of flavor that I crave. Honestly, I judge most Vietnamese pho restaurants by their Bon Rieu because some places simply use seafood powder in their stock to fake it. What results is a very thinly flavored broth that has very little umami. Bon Rieu should have THE MOST umami of any soup dish because of its tomato and crab base. That's how you can tell if a place is cutting corners. The Nem Cuom is huge and the dipping sauce is generous. The House Special Tea is reminiscent of a passion fruit green tea from a boba place. Sweetened just enough to not be saccharine. Ambiance: Quite small. I believe one of their main issues may be parking during peak hours as it shares a tiny parking lot with many other businesses. There's a spacious parking lot but there's rarely any spots available and will require you to wait for a free one. The interior is honestly very pretty. It's decorated with overhead chandeliers with bright lights and marble tables. When your table is ready, they also give you a tray full of chopsticks, napkins, and forks. Each table also has hoisin, sriracha, chili sauce, and another sauce I'm not too sure about. After we ordered, I got my pho da biet maybe 5 minutes after. The cha gios also came out a few minutes after too. Unfortunately, my boyfriend's com tam was forgotten about until after I devoured my pho. We even asked them about it in the middle and it was checked on but we weren't updated and thought they had went ahead and cancelled it but it still came out. No biggy, we packed it to-go since we basically split the pho da biet. Food: Pho da biet (9.5/10): The pho was soooo delicious. It was meaty with a little bit of sweetness to it. This is one of the few places where I don't feel the need to sauce down my pho to enjoy it. There's a good amount of meat in here. If you're a tendon enjoyer, there's about 3 big chunks in here. I love the way they separate everything. If you order this, it comes with the stone bowl at no additional costs. They separate the noodles and ribeye on the side and let you "decorate" it yourself. There was also a good amount of noodles in here. Com tam (7.9/10): I thought that this one was just okay. We got the grilled pork and grilled pork chop and I thought that the meats were cooked perfectly. There was a nice char to the meats and it was seasoned deliciously. It came with a lot of rice and a side of soup to enjoy! I did enjoy this fish sauce more than the one that came with the egg rolls. Overall, I wish this dish came out the same time as the pho so we could've enjoyed it together. Cha gio/Imperial Rolls (7/10): I love egg rolls but this one didn't really stand out to me. It comes with a good amount of vegetables that you can use to wrap your egg rolls in. I wish the fish sauce that came with this was more salty. Maybe it was that day, but I couldn't really tell what was inside the filling. It was all mushed in together instead of different layers. The skin was very thin and crispy which I really liked!

The vermicelli with nem nuong and egg rolls comes with a slab of meat and a whole egg roll. The bottom are the noodles and mix of veggie and herbs. The nem nuong is sweetened charbroiled pork that is grilled. Think of a sweet meat ball. The egg rolls are super crispy and filled with meat. The noodles go well with the fish sauce and there are a lot of veggies inside. The nem nuong coun is a spring roll that's wrapped in rice paper. It has the meat and lettuce wrapped inside and comes with a dipping sauce. I believe the sauce is made with ground shrimp. For $8 for 3 rolls it is a steal compared to other restaurants. If you are craving Brodards in OC this place can satisfy your craving. Their che ba mau which is a 3 bean dessert has a lot of beans inside topped with coconut milk and shaved ice. It is the person drink to finish your meal and it is not too sweet.

CASH ONLY! Definitely a mom and pop spot, they have tables to dine in but it's one of those spots…read moreI'd prefer to take to-go and enjoy in the comfort of my own home. Com Tam is decent, rice texture is on point. Pork chop is marinated well but not enough lemongrass flavor, tender and not dry at all. Baked egg was good but not amazing, seemed like it missing shredded wood ear mushroom. Che Ba Mau by far hands down the worst I've had. Red bean wasn't soft, outer shell/skin was still pretty tough. Not much mung bean either after stirring it literally for about 4 seconds the mung bean basically disintegrated into the liquid. The liquid.. watered down skim milk, not a trace of coconut flavor anywhere. I didn't know you can mess up Che Ba Mau until I had it from here.

I ordered egg rolls and the Pho Dac Biet. The egg rolls came out first. Fresh from the fryer with lettuce, herbs and the nuoc mam/fish sauce. I ended up fishing that on my own (first meal of the day haha). I was wondering where my pho was. I flagged down the server and he seemingly forgot. He rushed to the kitchen to get that going and it came out within a few minutes. Broth check first. It was light and had flavor. Didn't need to add hot sauce or hoisin sauce. Dressed up the pho with the herbs and went at it. Finished that as well. Pretty extensive menu. Fresh food. Overall, a nice place to grab some Vietnamese food.
