So. My almost 10 year old who is thee most pickiest eater has deemed this place worthy of 100 stars. Says she loves the ambience and the vibe. She orders the teriyaki plates with a side of tobiko. It's her thing. I never doubt that it's good cuz it's rare for her to finish everything. Here, she does. This place does a decent happy hour. Some things you can find on there: Edamame. Gyozas. Chicken karaage. Few Hand rolls. Oh, and the Oysters on that menu are $1.50 and that* makes me extra happy. Our spread was amazing. A fun place to gather with friends! Came here on a Saturday and they had ample seating and lots of reservations left. Good: Very solid sushi rolls! I really loved the 24th and OMG and volcano rolls. Especially with the volcano roll they really loaded up on the crab meat and toppings. The chicken karaage was good as well and super crispy in texture. I enjoyed the cute sake cups too. Bad: Service is so hard to flag down! Really rarely did we get someone to check in on us or get our food order so it was a longer wait time for sure. I'm sad because after Kazan closed 24th st lost really good sushi. I have been getting my fix at Basa Seafood Express just up the street. Wow. What a place. We reserved a table through Yelp and thus were immediately seated (after they checked our vaccine cards) by the window, which was great to l watch the busy 24th street hustle. To start, we ordered the gyoza and the calamari, both of which were delicious. The gyoza was so good we ordered another one!!! They were just so absolutely delicious and flavorful and crispy... simply delightful. Highly recommend. And the calamari was good, although it didn't stand out as much as the gyoza. But the batter was light and crunchy, the calamari was the perfect texture, and the slivers of onion and pepper thrown in were tasty and complimentary. We then got the Crazy Spider Roll and the Dragon Roll; both amazing. If you're going for a simple but tasty roll, the Dragon Roll is a good bet, and if you're looking for something a bit more decadent, with a huge complexity in textures and flavors, go for the Crazy Spider Roll; it has crispy fried soft-shelled crab, which is spectacular. Gee, you'd think with a name like Sake Bomb that this would be a drunkard's delight, a hipster haven, a party animal palace. But no, it was a perfectly respectable Japanese restaurant on 24th free of the loudly obnoxious and the obnoxiously loud who would order up the next round of sake bombs. I came in rather spontaneously one weekday evening and saw it was quiet and welcoming to this new customer. Right away I saw the little placard advertising their dollar Miyagi oysters. Five please. And how pretty it was presented with tropical blossoms over crushed ice (photo: http://bit.ly/39Mf8KH). Quite fresh and tasty and gone in a matter of minutes. For the real meal, I ordered the $9 Salmon Skin Salad which was a bountiful bowl of goodness with mixed greens, oshinko (pickled daikon radish), tobiko, gobo (burdock root), and scallions. It was definitely one of the better variations I've had of this Japanese standby. Okay, this place is on 24th street and I was not ready for it. It was very good and affordable and I don't mean this in a cheap way but in the portions versus the price. As far as food, here's what we had: - Crazy Spider - Sexy Girl - Edamame - Miso Soup - Beef Short Ribs - Oysters We also did Sashimi and this is what I had: I had Sake, Hamachi, Ebi, Sake-Toro, and UNI As far as drinks, we had tons of Hot and Cold Sake.
