Good sushi, but surprisingly not kid-friendly for being located in Frisco. I say this because there's no kid's menu... so we had to order the chicken karaage appetizer and a bowl of rice for my toddler, which cost over $10! For a 15 month old! They charged us $2 for a small bowl of rice. Nuts. Anyway, we shared a spicy scallop roll, 007, sushi bomb, and ex-boyfriend. All pretty tasty. The specialty rolls all cost around 13-15 bucks. Not cheap. Some of the sauces were a bit much (007 and ex-boyfriend tasted more like sauce than fish), but still good. Despite the fact that we were not the only family with kids there, I would say this is a better spot for a date or a girl's night out than for a family dinner. We got the crab volcano and it was delicious and it came out on a flaming clam shell! I told the person who answered that I thought it was unacceptable and she told me I was and then hung up on me. I called back again asking for the owner and got a different person. She was very conformation and said I was being rude (after I had been hung up on) and they then had more complaints for me which is sad. Worst customer service I have ever experienced. Sad. We actually were regulars here as always referred people here but they obviously aren't worried about losing customers. I'm one of those "try it to believe" OCD kind of people, so after reading fellow yelper's reviews, I felt compelled to test it out. I've tried some other sushi places around Frisco, but boy oh boy was this place the cherry on top of my sundae! The service is just the right amount--not too pushy but not too overly friendly either. Very genuine. And the food was absolutely fabulous. Everything was fresh, presentation was spectacular, the food was OH SO tasty. We tried the friends w/ benefits, cherry blossom and craw-fish volcano (the presentation for this one is amazing!!). Prices are typical for a sushi restaurant. Sake Toro gets 3 stars instead of two because I couldn't give it 2.5, so I decided to round up. For Frisco, this is about the best you'll get and that's not saying much at all. The rolls and sushi aren't bad at all, but they're just not that great. There is a large selection to choose from, And I can't remember why I ended up choosing 2 of my 3 rolls to be fried, but they ended up tasting the same to me without a whole lot of flavor. Their ahi tower is actually pretty good, and I would get that again. I only go here when I don't feel like going down the tollway to better sushi restaurants in North Dallas. I don't know how anyone who likes sushi can claim this is the best sushi place in Dallas. Maybe they just know the owner and they're trying to help out, which I can understand.... This place caught us a little off guard. We were wearing shorts, flip-flops, and t-shirts but when we walked in, it seemed we should've tried a little harder. Oops. Wasn't expecting the dimly lit, slightly lounge-ish ambience, but it was nice. Not pretentious, but comfortable. Good mix of folk - families with young kids, couples, groups of friends. Didn't try the rolls, although they had a lot. There were two of us, and we ordered salmon nigiri, eel roll, beef tatake, sashimi salad, and miso cod. Wow, they sure don't skimp on the servings! We prob could've ordered half of what we did and been comfortably full. When we've ordered beef tatake, sashimi salad, or anything similar in the past, it'd come with maybe 10 slices, but here, at least double. Not only were they relatively hefty portions, but everything was so tasty! Salmon and sashimi tasted fresh, and the miso cod was so tender and flavorful. And came with a bowl of rice instead of having to be charged to order one! We were pleasantly surprised with everything but didn't really go in with any expectations. We didn't have a prob getting a table for two on a Sat night around 8 and didn't really mind that we had multiple servers. That just meant instead of having to flag one person down, we just flagged anyone who was near us. Works for me! read more

We ate here last night for the first time, trying it out since it's so close to home. I'm one for if you find a good place keep going back. My sushi place is sushi sake in Richardson, but it's such a long drive. Onto the review. Tuesday night, not very busy @ ~19:30 so we were able to get seated directly. As per many of the other reviews, the service was lacking even though they weren't that busy. We had our 5 yo in tow, so he got edamame and chicken teriyaki. The Mrs got a rainbow roll and I got sushi dinner and sushi bomb roll. The edamame and teriyaki was good, but the sushi was a bit disappointing. It seemed to have a lot of additional sauce on the pieces that just didn't go together very well. I'll keep this place in mind if I every need a quick fix, but if I have the time, I'll stick to my go to place. read more

The one draw back I have found is they are not usually "quick". They are usually busy and it takes a moment but good quality for sure. Let me start by saying the food is great! And the lunch special prices are very reasonable. We came at noon so we understand the lunch rush. However, the service was lacking in many areas. For starters the menus were frantically thrown at us as some instructions were rapidly mumbled. 5/6 members at the table received waters. The soups were then delivered in waves and the sushi came out 10 minutes before the other entrees. The server got very distracted and wasn't able to complete tasks quickly, such as processing the credit cards. I have to say, as soon as i registered this is the first place i wanted to review. It's hands down my favorite Sushi spot north of 635 which is a bold statement. Equally bold is Sake Toro's tacky vegas flair and amazing rolls. My only caution to you (potential visitor) is that it seems to me that the servers don't have defined sections or tables, we talked to several different ones. I like to tip MY server, so it was a little strange picturing 3 people in my head while i was writing on the tip line. Tongue-in-cheek names and atmosphere aside, Sake Toro has some fantastic sashimi. (which i assure you Firefox, is spelled correctly.) On one visit i was treated to Bonito, fantastic yellow tail and some of the nicest Salmon i've ever had this far inland. Enjoy all of the over the top flair the first time. Wife and I went for dinner on sat nite before a movie. Got there about 6:45pm and the place was pretty full. Service was friendly and fast, and food was great! Great drinks, although disappointed that the Asahi Black was not yet cold. So settled for just Asahi. They had 5 chefs making rolls at the counter, so they were ready for a busy night. Highly disappointed in the service tonight. Jerry absolutely sucks! We numbered our orders on the sheet with the marker, he put in our order and only half of it came out. So, we ate that and we waited patiently for the other rolls and entree to come out since it's sushi, we know it can take a bit of Time. After about 20 minutes of waiting we decided to let our service know that we were missing half of our order. He came back with a receipt that only had 75% of what we ordered on it. He has to explanation for what happened but said that the orders were not a priority and put back in. After about 20 more minutes, our orders came out and one of the rolls was obviously wrong. It had jalapeños on it which was not we ordered. The waiter fought with us on it. No apologies were made or comps. We are super embarrassed that we brought our friends there with us cause all we did was brag about the place. It's a shame that it took one really lousy server to ruin the place for us.
