Heaven knows how much we love our sushi and I was excited about trying Saki, but it just didn't measure up. Pros: The restaurant is beautiful and has great vibe. Our waiter was a doll and tried his best to be accomodating under the circumstances. The yellowtail had fabulous flavor and overall, the fish seemed very fresh. Cons: The hostess didn't change our reservation to another time as requested so it caused some confusion when we arrived. My biggest disappointment was the chefs unwillingness to accomodate people with allergies. Get with the program Saki, it's the 21st century and a lot of people have allergies!!!!!! Will I go back? Maybe. If I find myself in Provincetown again craving sushi/sashimi then I might go in, but I won't go out of my way. read more

Nice space and good food. The only complaint was that the edame was over-cooked to the point of mushy. Four of us each had cooked entrees, no sushi. Nothing special here, but nothing that would keep me away either. I'll definitly try the sushi or sashimi next time. The staff were very friendly and accommodating. Oyster special from 4-6 was the reason we decided to have dinner here. They were served chilled and were very tasty. Absolutely perfect! My baked scallops were excellent . My daughter had lobster fettuccini. She felt it had too many sun-dried tomatoes in it and had to pick a lot of them out. Other than that she felt it was good. One of the best sushi restaurants I've ever been to. The service was great, the decor was tasteful, the atmosphere was relaxing, and most importantly, the food was excellent. While it was a little pricey, for what you get, the price is great. The Red Sox roll was the best sushi roll I've ever had, and the sushi itself was incredible. No complaints, if you like sushi, you have to try this place. PS: The restaurant lives up to it's name and has an excellent selection of sake for those who enjoy it. I love Saki! It is by far my favorite restaurant in Provincetown. The sushi is the best I have ever had including all the sushi places I visited in my 18 years living in San Francisco, a sushi paradise. I go to Saki regularly and I have never experienced a restaurant that is so consistently excellent not just in food but also service. Janet, the manager, is welcoming, professional and always takes good care of every single person who sets foot in the place. I own a gallery in town and I am constantly asked by visitors where they should eat. Saki is always the first place I recommend. I am a local and know many of the restaurants on the Outer Cape and Saki is one of the best in the area, if not the best. Some of my favorites are the albacore ngiri. It's topped with a mix of ginger and scallion that makes the already creamy delicious albacore even better. The spicy scallop roll is to die for as is the green dragon - shrimp tempura and avocado. If you love tuna, the tuna lover is great. The behia is tempura sweet potato that is yummy! I have never had anything there I didn't like. They also have a good selection of other japanese and asian fair as well as steaks. The ambience is great and the bar mixes up great cocktails. What more could you ask for? read more

Our party of three almost left upon entering based on where we were initially seated even after having made telephone reservations weeks prior (woman on the phone made a joking reference to being an AOL survivor. Haha!). First, she tried to seat us at the sushi bar (umm..no..) then in the middle of the communal table where no one else was seated, even though there were several booths and tables available. Ok, on to the drink, food and service... Drinks.....mispour of passion fruit martini over olives meant for a dirty martini. Food.....ordered the Tom Yum Goong (Thai soup) which was a clear departure from authenticity. It was really just miso soup with one shrimp. Ma-poi chicken was really good. I personally also enjoyed the lobster tempura roll, companion liked the spider roll. Other companion ordered the spicy tuna roll but felt it was more like a tartar which was unexpected. It was ok at best. Service....he was friendly, but inattentive. Took our order, and didn't see him again until the very end of our meal when one person requested another martini. We had an unfortunate dining experience here at saki, not that their ambiguous non-specific Asian fusion didn't make me suspicious from the get go. Service disappointed: dishes were forgotten (yet on the check), meal was slow, staff was unapologetic. What topped it all off was when my poor mother politely told the hostess that the unnaturally oversized muscles were probably bad and unsafe to eat. The hostess essentially told my mom that she just didn't understand New England muscles (mom was born and raised here) and that they were actually good. Mom proceeded to get sick for the entire night. Even if my mom wasn't right about the muscles, I found the hostess' reaction completely inappropriate. After reading other reviews it turns out he snooty hostess is also the manager so unfortunately she may never be told how to behave appropriately but if you're reading, lady, please fix your attitude. I don't even know where to begin. We went to Saki last Saturday night. We had a reservation, but there was a HUGE storm passing through P-Town during the time of our reservation and we were about 20 minutes late. Yes, we were at fault, but we were walking through the storm, which was obvious when you saw us walk in. The hostess could not possibly have been less helpful or more rude. We told her we knew we missed our reservation but would like to wait for a table. Granted, I don't know how many other reservations there were, but I think it's pretty fair to say there is little to no chance that 90 minutes passed without an available table for us (or even a question about whether we would be willing to split into two parties of two). We watched people get seated (in a busy but not slammed restaurant) without the hostess checking in, updating us, etc. We watched her seat 2 people at a 4-top when there was a 2-top beside it and empty. We eventually went to the bar to sit, where we couldn't look at or talk to each other, and we were visiting with a local friend whom we had not seen in a year. We ate at the bar and were served by a lovely bartender who deserves to be paid double for having to listen to patrons complain about the horrible and insanely rude hostess. After all that, the food was so-so. My friend and I had sushi, which was fine but very expensive and not delicious or special (my friend's roll was "soggy"); my partner and another friend had a thai dish which they both said was underwhelming with very little tofu or taste. Saki is very expensive for what they serve. At the very least, I would expect to be treated well, especially since none of us lost our temper or our mouths. I cannot say the same for the hostess. We went over to the hostess several times and asked and she made it abundantly clear she had no intention of seating us. After that 90 minutes, when we were mid-meal, she came over and asked if we still wanted a table. We declined and she told the bartender (quite snidely, however), that she would pay for our drinks. When she saw we weren't drinking, she walked away in a huff. No offer to do anything else, not a word of apology, nothing. I will never return to Saki and I will absolutely pass this along to anyone who asks for my recommendation. read more

Saki came across as. A great place to have dinner with family. They were very accommodating to give seating on a busy Sunday evening. The ambience was very nice! We are vegetarians and hence ordered vegetarian sushi, it was really tasty. The vegetarian dishes specifically drunken noodles could have been better. You have to wait forever to get in, but at least you don't leave the place starving and angry. If you want your food delivered in a moderately fresh state: they don't do that here. Expect dried-up Nast. If you want the wait staff to treat you like you're not the biggest pain in their neck that has ever existed: sorry, you can't go to Saki. And you know, really, who cares if the wait staff are mean, right? But when everything else is also unacceptable, and you're spending a small fortune for the enormous delay on your bad food, emotional abuse from the waitress just stings a little more. And finally, If you have celiac: they will tell you their rice has gluten in it, because they believe rice wine vinegar to contain gluten. Somebody get these guys an education. read more

The food at Saki is delicious, but the service is atrocious. I understand being in a busy resort town means that you won't be able to get to every customer in a timely manner, but being rude and acting annoyed does not make me feel welcomed at all. I've been here 3 times in my two months in PTown and I have to say that everytime the service gets worse. I hope that they really work on this because even though I'm not a big fan of sushi, I love their Pineapple fried rice with shrimp. read more

My wife and I had dinner on Memorial Day. The hostess was gracious and helpful. We were seated right away and our drink order was taken and served very quickly. We got the vegetarian summer roll, edamame, and two vegetarian sushi rolls. They were all fresh and tasty. The vegetable tempura was as good as I've had it outside Japan. The batter was light and not at all greasy. The vegetables were done, not raw or overcooked. My wife'a stir fry over soba noodles was similarly well prepared. The waiter seemed to know anything about the menu or the restaurant for that matter. When I asked if my friend's food was on its way after waiting a while, I was given 2 sarcastic remarks and then the appropriate remark came after that once he realized his inappropriate response. Delicious sushi!!! Had a reservation for 6pm on a Saturday, table was ready for us when we got there. Not very busy but quickly filled up. The service was friendly and attentive. Sushi was so good! We were attracted to the looks of this beautiful place and the initial glance of the menu. But I should have paid better attention. Miso-glazed halibut: yes. "Sweet and sour" miso-glazed halibut: um, no. Another clue? The sushi roll the person beside ordered came topped with cherry tomatoes! That's just foul. In the end, the glaze on the halibut was barely there, and the fish was over-cooked. We also tried the noodles, which were meh, okay. Nothing special and not to be compared to anything you'd find in a city. And the prices are beyond exorbitant. read more

pros: good food. really good sushi, tempura (not that thick gooey layers that a lot of tempura places have) cons: the hostess led us to our table and tried to tell my wife and I that we should sit in specific places, which we disregarded. she got annoyed for some reason, and walked away in a huff, saying that "she had worked here for 11 years" ok, she has some personal issues. no reason to take it out on your customers. then there was a customer who walked in carrying a six-pack of beer in one hand, and a bottle of vodka in the other. sat at the bar, and the bartender proceeded to chat with him for ten minutes, while we were waiting for our drink orders. weird priorities. read more

Really good sushi restaurant. We made a reservation and were seated promptly. The ambiance is very interesting and unique since the restaurant Is in a former church. Good cocktails - I definitely recommend the diablo margarita. Very spicy but not too much of a punch. My wife loved the spicy tuna roll and thought it was plenty filling along with a tasty bowl of miso soup. I had the sushi combo. The tuna roll in the combo was good but the sushi pieces were the best, especially the white tuna. Some of the larger rolls looked great as well. read more

This place is as good as it gets for P-town and Cape Cod. Pad-se-ew is good, vegetarian options for sushi are all really good, cocktails are good and strong. Our service has always been great. It's one of a kind in P-Town and in the Outer Cape and it's amazing how it feels like you are not in Cape Cod the minute you walk in. This place is a surprise. Stle-wise, it reminded me more of the (nice) yuppie bar-restaurants in SF SOMA than Ptown. I mean that in a good way. Ptown is filled with either casual bayside cafe-type places or expensive dark wood-paneled hideaways. In both categories, most Ptown restaurants don't live up to their menus. The most beautiful place we ate in all week in P-town. Another reviewer described the decor as "Miami Beach" but I personally would say "LA." And by that I mean the best of LA. Huge, wooden tables constructed of antique wood. Particularly beautiful lighting. Very high ceilings, creating an airy, light room. The only off notes are the two large LCD TV screens on the far side of the restaurant. They're not so bad that they wreck this otherwise gorgeous room, but they are a distraction if you're facing them from your seat. The sushi was nice - fresh and tasty. Service was attentive and friendly. Prices were reasonable. I'd definitely return. read more
