Talk about yum!!! Came here on an early Wednesday evening and it was dead quiet so service was quick. We got a few dishes to share including the chicken teriyaki bowl, chicken teriyaki yaki soba, veggie tempura roll, chicken teriyaki roll, and green chili tempura roll. If you can't tell, we aren big on fish lol. But this is the kind of review I think is usually missing from sushi spots because fish rolls and dishes are why most people go to sushi restaurants. Everything was delicious. The only reason I knocked off a star is because there were more bean sprouts than noodles in the yaki soba and it was an overkill and kind of ruined the taste. Maybe the Thai and Laotian food is good. I bet it is. But this is not a sushi restaurant. Just really flat average fish that all tasted the same. Nice Mom and Pop place. I didn't try any rolls-- just had sushi and it just wasn't too appetizing in a run down sloppy atmosphere. read more

I love this place, for many reasons. They have great and friendly service, orange soda (for my baby nugget), and they make the most fantistical roll in the world, "MY ROLL"! It is cucumber and yellowtail inside, with snapper, paper thin slices of lime, sriracha, and ponzu sauce. It is not on the menu, but my (with some from the chef) tastes in mind, it was born. Just moved near this little gem. I ordered some sushi to bring back to my place the other night. They said it would be ready in about 15 minutes and at 12 minutes, they called back to tell me that my food was ready. That alone was very outstanding in customer service standards. Next, when I got home, the sushi looked great of course, but the taste.... Wow. I have enjoyed sushi from coast to coast.... Literally, all over the US... $60 on that??! I realized we were splurging a bit getting 2 specialty rolls and a Thai dish, but we were really excited about this place after reading the glowing reviews. The rolls ARE huge, yes. But they weren't put together well, we could barely pick them up and they had a muddy quality. I like sushi for it's clean taste. I'm not even sure about the freshness. As for the Thai dish, it was so salty I couldn't even eat it. I'm normally a bit free with the salt, but this was just seafood soaked in a bottle of soy. We're here visiting from Wisconsin and we had one night reserved for a good sushi meal and I could kick myself for picking Sakura. The waitress packaged up our leftovers and gave us fortune cookies. Mine read "All advice has worth, some bad some good." Just be wary of all the reviews. If you still want to try this place, order one roll, then decide if you want to proceed. My son and I tried this place today after hitting up THREE familiar Asian Fusion joints that were closed, despite having hours posted as open on Yelp. Positive Yelp reviews led us to a part of town we would otherwise never frequent, and for that I thank you, Oh Great Circle-Jerk In The Sky. The green chile-cheese egg rolls were in and of themselves worthy of five stars, but that was only the beginning. The same incredibly competent person who took our order, and then delivered our drinks and perfectly prepared Vegetable Tempura along with aforementioned incredibly delicious egg rolls, hastily proceeded to the sushi counter to create our delectable rolls, which she then delivered. And we were not the only table. And my water glass never went empty. Are you fucking kidding me? This astounding work ethic explains why Asian-Americans are now the best-educated, highest-earning, and fastest-growing racial group in this country. We LOVE Sakura. Their "Lady in Red" roll is our absolute favorite sushi roll of all time - and we have traveled to Japan! This is actually the closest we have gotten to Japanese sushi back in the U.S. They also have excellent Thai food - try the red curry! - and I love their fried rice also. And, you MUST try their green chile tempura. It is so awesome, and once you taste it, you think "why hasn't anyone thought of doing this before?" This is definitely the best Sushi place in the Wyoming/Montgomery area and one of the best in Albuquerque. read more

Went for my girlfriends birthday and told the staff it was her birthday. After dinner the lights in the restaurant dimmed and out came a big cake that they ran to Whole Foods grocery to buy!! This was my first visit to Sakura Sushi for my wife and I. We ordered the Monkey Balls, the Crunchy Munch, the Calimari Roll and the Monster Roll. Initally releuctant to try but The Monkey Balls were excellent! All the Sushi was superb but, in particular, the Calimary Roll was fanastic. We will go back!!! read more
