Oh, suburban Chicago... you kind of ratchet. That said, Sal's is a pretty good place to hang out with your townie friends who never moved into Chicago. Before 8 p.m., this place is a 'family restaurant' (though I'm not entirely sure how that works), so just keep that in mind when you want to watch sports and begin drinking at a bar before 4 p.m. This place has good specials, cheap prices and karaoke every weekend. At first, you think karaoke is lame but wait... it'll be great after four or five beers. I'm not entirely sure what kind of food this place serves late night, but there's a chicken joint and a Chinese place in the same strip mall if you're hungry. I had a surprisingly great time at Sal's. I was in L-Town (as I like to call it) for a friend's birthday party. We went to Sal's for some karaoke on a Saturday night and had a blast. When we first got there, the place was PACKED! It was standing room only. We had about 10 people in our group, and there were a couple other big birthday party groups there. We literally had to stand off to the side of the room right where they set up the karaoke "stage." Once people started singing, we were pretty much standing right in front of them, like they were singing right to us. Ha! It was cool, though. The DJ they had hired for the night (DJ Q) was really great. He was funny, and I liked the songs he was playing between performances. He really got the crowd into it. Eventually, the crowd died out and we were able to sit at a table in front. At that point, we ordered some snacks, you know since we finally had a table to put them on. We ordered mozzarella sticks, fried mushrooms and cheesy garlic bread. Everything was really good! I definitely want to try Sal's pizza. I had been eying it from nearby tables, and it it looked really good. I guess the two negatives for Sal's would be that it's a small place, and the bathroom situation. There were only one men's and one women's bathroom, so you were always waiting in line. Overall, we had a really great time. Next time I'm in L-Town, I'll definitely hit up Sal's and try their pizza. read more

I can't eat pizza but my son said the double dough pepperoni was very good. The Italian beef sandwich was inedible. The beef slices were WAY too thick and so dry it was hard to swallow. The juice which I ordered on the side was a thick brown almost gravy, not Italian beef juice. Fries were too greasy so I passed on those too. I think they should stick to pizza only! read more

There's a reason this bar gets packed every weekend! The staff is extremely friendly, everything is clean and comfortable and the crowd is diverse and welcoming. If you like to just hang out and have a great time, this is for you. Nothing pretentious or exclusive here! Karaoke gets wild, I can't remember a night here without laughter and good times! Located in a little strip mall in a town in which we'd never before set foot, we entered expecting to split a pretty decent pizza and a pitcher of beer. Surprised by multitude of TV screens and sports galore, drink specials ($4 Long Island Teas on this particular Friday night - one'll do ya'), and efficient service with a smile. It's a pizza place, but it provides a fairly diverse selection of appetizers, sandwiches, burgers, salads and entrees, none of which will break the bank. I saw several patrons tearing into big platters of chicken wings, and the pizza selection was decent, but I decided to try the Philly cheesesteak with thick, crisp onion rings (really delicious), while my husband ordered a burger customized with chili, jalapeños and cheese (the cheese was omitted, but unmissed until he was nearly finished devouring it) and fries (a little on the cool side but pretty good). Drinks were never empty, and we left the place wishing we lived near enough to come back regularly. Terrific service, wallet-sparing prices, and an atmosphere that rivals larger-scale sports bars that try a lot harder and cost a lot more. I've driven past Sal's a few times, and barely remembered it was there. Friends of mine live really close-by, and suggested I give them a try - boy am I glad I took their recommendation! So, I got their Italian beef sandwich, lightly dipped with hot peppers. I've been seeking a good Italian beef sandwich, ever since my local shop tragically closed down, and Sal's managed to hit the spot. Their wings were tasty, with a nice crisp skin to them, and savory sauce. The fries were also pretty good. I'm looking forward to trying out their pizza, and a few of their other sandwiches, next time I'm hanging out in the area. Update: Their thin crust pizza game is on point - 5 stars, baby!! This is a little hole in the strip mall wall that is definitely worth checking out. The food is pretty good for your typical bar food. Usually we get pizza from here because I love pizza! The pizza is really good. Luckily it is in walking distance from the apartment, so it is pretty convenient. We have gone here to watch a couple hawks playoff games and it can get pretty crowded because it is small. I would suggest if you are going to watch a sporting event or from what I hear karaoke to get there early. The price is right and the food is good. Great wings...breaded and meaty. Several flavors to choose from. The spicy garlic is a buffalo sauce with sauteed garlic mixed in...very tasty. The regular buffalo flavor is a bit on the spicy side, which I liked. Great draft beer selection and good prices. read more

One star is too many! I ordered 5 pizza's via Grub Hub for my staff. I ordered one pizza that clearly stated "no cheese". There is cheese on it. I ordered two 18" cheese pizzas that stated "only cheese" meaning no toppings, and I didn't get sauce! When I called, I spoke to someone claiming to be the manager, which I find very hard to believe. I was not allowed to finish a sentence without her cutting me off. She said the pizzas with no sauce was MY fault (I don't recall making the pizzas). She finally accepted responsibility for the pizza that was not supposed to have cheese. When I asked her how she was planning on correcting that, she told ME to call Grub Hub or come pick up a pizza. This was not a Grub Hub mistake. Why would I need to call anyone else to have this corrected? I called Sal's That is all I should need to do. The "manager" refused to do anything, and continued to talk over me. I order lunch for my staff at least once a week. I typically use a different pizza place, but they were closed today. This was Sal's opportunity for a lot of new business, which they have lost due to their inability to understand Customer Service 101. A simple apology and an effort to correct the mistake would have made all the difference. Hopefully this "manager" will learn how to treat her customers with respect. read more

Hidden little neighborhood pub, great drink specials and awesome thin crust pizza! The boyfriend and I literally live a minute walk away and try to stick to a healthy diet, but we like to treat ourselves to some Sal's now and then. (Or else we would be here more often!!!) My uncle moved to Lombard last year and told us this was a good place for a few drinks! You won't find anything fancy here but what you will find is a bunch of people from different walks of life having a good old time! It ranges from a bunch of guys getting together to have a few beers, to girls night out to a couple on date night. The Karaoke is great and Q (The karaoke DJ) is really good and keeps the party engaged. I don't do karaoke but I loved how people here can literally get up and sing and no one judged good or bad. There pizza was also really good! Price for food and alcohol is extremely reasonable here! Like I said a bunch of people from different walks of life just looking to have a good time! Great food for a great price. Their beef sandwich with mozz is arguably the best one you can get outside the city. Not only is it delicious, it's huge! You more than get your money's worth at this lil joint. There are about 25 TVs all the way around the bar, dart board, and some video games. They run tabs and make a free pizza for you to sample while you're drinking. They also do a business card give-away every once in a while. Absolutely horrific experience ordering pizza for my dental students. How embarrassing, your delivery girl yelling and cursing @ at our staff in front of the entire lobby! (Women, children and seniors are present mind you!)Even if there was a "miscommunication" about the delivery time you still act professional. To make matters worse, when you call to make a complaint the delivery driver answers the phone and curses you out again. Spend your money elsewhere. read more

Go on Kareoke night! Once upon a time when I was in middle school, I recall a very large individual (the largest I knew, in fact) tell me that Sal's had some of the best food he'd ever had. Despite hearing this from an incontestable source I put off visiting Sal's for 10 years or so. Since I was newly back in town off of active duty and lacking in acquaintances, I convinced my sister to check out the place with me. The bouncer was very friendly. It was one of those rare nice days in March, and the place was packed. It was a very light atmosphere, with some people dancing, and some people that should have been too old to be dancing :) The 2 guys running the Kareoke were a lot of fun. 5 dollar pitchers were also a lot of fun. I was just thinking about the first time I sat down in Sal's Pizza Pub with my best friend from college. I had walked in here once or twice as a kid with my parents to pick up a pizza, but other than that, never ventured over until well after my college graduation... Cue first real visit. Cold Beer, Great Service, and Tasty food...the nachos weren't my fave (and still aren't) but the pizza---OH MAN---the pizza. Yum Yum Yum. I felt like I was home, but still a stranger in this new bar. Fast forward about 5 years (now), and I walk into the place, and it really is like walking into my home. The bouncer knows me, even if it's been a few months since my last visit. The owners/bartenders (Sal and Danny) smile in my direction and almost always remember that I drink vodka and club soda. The stellar superstar server Ryan always remembers my drink it feels like I'm getting drinks from old friends. There's always someone I know, so I never feel like I'm drinking alone at this place. But typically, it's loaded up with pals that I've met along the way. Make sure to check this place out during karaoke night (Tuesday, Thursday, or Saturday) for a show you won't want to miss. Thursday is the Q & A session with Quinn and Adam. Listen this is the epitome of a local bar. Everyone here knows everyones name. If they havent learned by the second time... then who knows, maybe you smell. And it rocks Plenty of tvs to watch whatever your flavor is. Name one bar where food network can be found on almost all day! Bartenders are great, good folks for sure. Food is pretty damn good. Pizza is always perfect here. Sandwiches are good. Wings are great. The free pizza special is nice. The drink specials are pretty good. Anywhere a $10 bucket most days of your favorite, classy coors light is pretty good. I dont drink the other stuff often, but its perfectly priced. I dont do karaoke but it fills up. I went here for the first time a few months ago for an impromptu casual date night with Fred. We have lived SO close to this place forever and never went in, so we just had to check it out. We walked in and sat at a booth since it's not the hostess seats you kind of place. It definitely feels much more like a bar than anything else, which I loved because that's how I was feeling that night anyway. If you live in the VP area, you will know what I mean when I say that it feels like Lombard's version of Cap's. It seemed like almost everyone inside were regulars and that this is where the Glenbard East alum hang out. Anyways, we were greeted quickly by the server who took our drink order and brought us some menus. We heard that we had to try the pizza, so we did and also got a salad. We ordered the Chili Cheese Dog pizza and the Hawaiian pizza and some kind of salad (can't remember exactly which one) that came with a little bag of dressing. I know it's just a bar-type place, but I HATE getting bagged dressing! Even if it's not homemade, I still prefer it in the little cups, totally a personal preference though. But that pizza...WOW!! SOOOO tasty and different. They have a wide array of topping options and combinations and the two we got were fantastic. My favorite was the Chili Cheese Dog one...seriously...fat central station right there...but SO worth all the fat and calories that came along with it! It even had a drizzle of cheese sauce on the top. Yeah...I know. And the Hawaiian was as expected...sweet, juicy and delicious. Does it get any worse. This is atypical of an ugly suburban DPage county bar in a really ugly area of small strip malls and office buildings. This bar is tucked and hidden away from the rest of the world and that is a good thing. you really will never see this place unless you get loss around Yorktown mall. It is an ageing bar with bad interiors and crummy look. They have pizza on their title but do not be mislead by the name. The pizza is like what you normally get in a bar and nothing special. Typical Pizza Pub, but with better than you'd expect pizza. Also known for the coldest beer in town, which I have found to be true. Clean, comfortable atmosphere with televisions turned on the different channels to catch all the sporting events. Not a large bar area, but many tables surrounding with dim lighting inside. Mixed crowd of people, and it seems Sal's has a friendly disposition to all the patrons. My friend and I were treated to a round of drinks by the owner Sal who was sitting and talking with everybody at the bar. Long story short, everybody has a good time at Sal's! This is my favorite place to go for cold beer, pizza, and the best wings I've had (try the Chipotle BBQ wings) for Bears games, and on Karaoke nights! The Karaoke DJ's are hilarious, and most nights that I've gone, the bar has been packed with fun, beautiful people like myself. They have Karaoke 3 nights a week: Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays. The crowd at Sal's is consistently pretty cool, and the staff are, for the most part, sweethearts. All the food that they offer tastes wonderful, just don't expect to eat healthy - after all, "Pizza" and "Pub" are in the name. I had the turkey club last week (I just left the gym and I was like "turkey can't be bad for me"...with bacon...and mayo... This place is a horrid, my fiance and I had about the worst bar/restaurant experience of our life, the owner was totally rude about when I complained, he literally got in my face and refused to replace the pizza with the wrong toppings then refused to refund us so we had to pay for a pizza we did not eat. Never again! Also when you walk in the place it seems like its all a click and feels very unhospitable, all the dirty looks we got from the regulars made us feel very uncomfortable. Attention YELP and brother/sister Yelpers: THIS PLACE DOES NOT DELIVER FOR DINNER--ONLY FOR LUNCH. Salm maybe you should re-think your No-Dinner delivery policy as I would have ordered every night if you had night delivery--after all, this isn't a bad 'hood! That being said, the LUNCH pizza they delivered was without a doubt one of the BEST pizzas I have ever had IN MY LIFE. It arrived hot and fresh with some excellent and PERFECTLY COOKED crispy wings. The sweet and spicy sauce was excellent as well and they put in on the side along with a cup of buffalo sauce. The pizza was exactly as I ordered with delicious and generous amounts of toppings under a thick blanket of cheese cooked just right with the tiny brown spots of a well-done pie with a very crispy crust. I would have ordered this every day and every night if they had night delivery!! OMG was it delicious!! The very pleasant girl that took my order apparently pays attention to customer requests and she nailed it all the way around. It was a great delivery experience and I have a dine-in experience planned the next time I'm in Chicago. Kudos guys--I grew up on Chicago thin crust although I didn't know it and if you would like to get extremely rich from LSU college kids, please open a branch in Baton Rouge where I live!! My family & I would highly recommend Sal's. We have been coming here the last couple of years. Yes, there is a bar but we enjoy how it is very low key & chill. There are lots of tv's with sports, even Food channel! The pizza is so good! Nice, thin crust. Toasted ravioli, yummy! The server is usually the bartender and they are always very nice & attentive to us. We usually come here 2x a month & will continue to do so. We also order a lot from them thru Grub hub.
