Not great, best way to describe it is "eh!" My fiancé and I got coconut margaritas, they weren't good at all. They were $15 each, which I wouldn't mind if they tasted good but, not the case. Didn't taste like a margarita. Fried calamari was dry with supermarket bought sauce. Scallops and salmon were decent. Food was served on plastic disposable plates which was a turn off. This place is embarrassing for the Hamptons. Service is terrible and staff dress like street kids, They seat you in a parking lot and then walk your food out a back door near the dumpster. Ordered a $32 chicken and it was the size of a Buffalo Wild Wings chicken wing. No wonder their reviews are 2.5 stars. $20 for chips and guacamole and it was barely 20 chips. This place has a beautiful location and could be a great spot however the service is awful and you wait forever for a glass of water. The owner stares into space never acknowledging his customers he appears to be high or intoxicated. The food is never consistent and the wait staff is made by up of young underage teens. I have read some of the negative reviews and I just don't get it. It is a new place, so naturally there are going to be some things that need to be figured out. All I can say to the WHB summer visitors that gave this place a negative review is...Lighten Up! Its a great new place, that the town desperately needed. The staff is friendly and attentive and the drinks are great. I have not tried the food yet, but the limited menu has all of the right basics available. The atmosphere is perfect. Energetic, lively, open air. As I said, it is just what our tired old town needed. If I could give this restaurant zero stars I would. I should've known not to come here, as my big party had no reservations and this was the only place that was more than available to take us in all of the Hamptons on a Saturday night. Started off great with the burrata, then came the guac which was tasteless and served with "cut the roof of your mouth" stale chips. After appetizers, THEN came our cocktails that were simply atrocious. Our drinks were either watered down or too strong. The place is run by 20 year olds so the drinks were as if you're drinking a shitty mixed drink at a frat party. The meals came and it was literally just below average diner food. Many of us got the seafood pasta that was served with about 9 strands of fettuccini pasta. Staff looked very young and inexperienced and I'm sorry, torn jeans with half your ass hanging out is not a professional look, even for a place that is trying to be "hip" like this one. I just had an overall pleasant lunch at Salt & Loft. The chicken fingers off the kids menu were FIRE, and the tacos (tuna and shrimp) were entirely respectable representatives of their species, but nothing to write home about according to my companions. The truffle fries were average. HOWEVER the deviled eggs - listed on the menu as deviled eggs with caviar and farm greens - came out and I was AGHAST. They are pickled eggs (neon purple) with salmon roe on a sad bed of wilted mesclun. I can't describe my shock. I didn't try them because I don't like pickled eggs, but two of my fellow diners did and one of them almost threw up. This is a complaint solely for the manager of Salt and Loft, Barry Bernstein. I made a reservation for 8pm on 6/10/23 for my wedding party (I got married earlier that day) on 6/1/23 and altered it via phone call on 6/9/23, I have call history for both to prove this reservation was made. Upon arrival, we were told by 3 separate people, including Barry, that we didn't have a reservation and were spoken to in a completely condescending way. We were told by one person that we didn't make a reservation, by Barry (who took our reservation at his 212-980-1212 phone number, apparently wrote down our reservation information, and failed to put in our reservation) that despite us apparently not making a reservation "don't worry, they're setting it up now", and by a third person "yeah you had a 9:30pm and arrived early". All which were untrue and immediately ruined our mood despite it being a celebration of my wedding. We immediately spoke to Barry and asked to leave because we felt uncomfortable but were explicitly told from Barry himself that it was his fault, he was sorry, and that he would buy our first round of drinks and give us time to think about the second round. We never implied we'd be staying for dinner and even told our server that we were not ordering food but were told upon asking for the check and getting our FULL bill with nothing discounted that Barry assumed we'd be staying for dinner and refused to take anything off. My husband spoke to him and he finally agreed to take a percentage off - he only took 10% off. It's unspeakable that he dropped the ball on creating our reservation, promised us a first drink after we politely asked to leave, and then fully billed us. It was my wedding night and I'll never be able to get this night back. Barry is horribly inept and should not be allowed to run your establishment. More than half of my wedding party work in hospitality and have never been treated like this nor would think of treating others like this. I plan on reaching out at every available contact about this issue and everyone in my party will leave a bad review in order to make it apparent and obvious to all that Barry Bernstein is horrible, inept, and inarguably one of the rudest people I've ever met until he is dealt with. read more

My husband and I went to salt and loft for our anniversary dinner. I had been looking forward to coming to this trendy looking restaurant for the first time. We had an excellent experience. The food was amazing and the presentation was beautiful. I had the pasta with seafood and my husband had The Szechuan style whole Seabass. Both entrées were excellent! Chef Patrick ( new chef) came to our table to visit us and our server Daria was so wonderful and accommodating. They have a beautiful eating area in the back with umbrellas and heaters and they accommodated our sweet little puppy. Can't wait to go back! I have eaten at Salt & Loft numerous times. The hosted tried seating us at a banquet in the rear that was adjacent to the dirty dishes stacked with flies hovering. We took at table out back and ordered the mussels which we have had in the past. It previously came in a white wine sauce. That evening the mussels were served in a flavorless watery red sauce that resembled tomato soup but without the flavor. It tasted like dishwater. The mussels were also cold, the accompanying bread was stale. The owners need to oversee their restaurant and the quality of food and also train their wait staff. I had to find my server 3 times to get a menu, get napkins and silverware and get plates for the shells. The table of 6 next to us finally left bc their food never came out. It's a shame bc we really do need restaurants in Westhampton but they have lost me as a customer. read more

But the owner, stood at podium, not helping anyone, including his guests, and just kept filling his glass with ice, as he glanced out at everyone with a nasty frown. Stopped in for drinks a few times with friends. A great atmosphere inside. Very open in the front so you can watch what's happening on Main Street. The back is set up with chairs and umbrellas but it's in the parking lot. Drinks are pretty good but kind of pricey. The cheapest glass of rose is hamptons water for 15$. My newlywed friends decided to make a reservation for our party of 12 at the very beginning of June, and confirmed the reservation the day before today (June 10). We appreciated our server (I believe, Evelyn) who was very attentive, thoughtful and attempted to bridge the miscommunication between our hosts and management. There are a number of us with backgrounds in hospitality so we wanted to resolve the missing reservation thru conversation. After being offered a complimentary first round, we decided to stay because of the efforts by our hosts. However, we were then expected to stay for dinner? I don't understand the expectations on us to stay when we were inconvenienced. So overall we were offered a poor discount in exchange for a traumatizing experience after such an important event. Our friends just got married, they spoke to the staff calmly, had to worry about the experience of our party... there shouldn't have been any expectation we would stay beyond the complimentary drinks. Such potential... Cool looking spot with an ample outdoor patio. The service was pleasant but inexperienced. This is a new restaurant that will hopefully learn how to do it right. We had a few appetizers...the scallop dish was delicious and inventive (served over green peas and bacon). Unfortunately, the ricotta dish was a big blob of bland ricotta served with unappealing crostini. The tomato salad over guac was OK and just odd. But the same unappealing crostini was served with that just didn't cut it. Our plates plates were cardboard which was really awful. I'm not sure whether every dish is served on cardboard or if its because we sat outside? This is a message to the owners and not meant to disparage you...a week earlier we had dinner at Starr Boggs which is 100 feet away. The young workers were very inexperienced and frequently took off their masks and touched their faces and other personal items. My party had to repeat our requests for basic things like silverware and the check. Where do I start? First off we waited 30 min just for our server to take the order. Waited a hour for 4 pizzas and 2 entrees. All the pizza can out undercooked/ raw and one wasn't even cut,. They need to do an absolute make- over from management to staff. We were served water in dirty cups and we had to search for our own seats to add to our table. I just finished my third meal here in the past week. My girlfriend and I had the charred octopus and kale salad. It was fantastic! We had the wild salmon the other day with curry lentils that was out of this world. We've also had the shishito peppers which were great. They expanded the bar over the winter and dramatically improved the quality of the food, the atmosphere and the service. This really warrants 5 stars. It took our meal 90 minutes to arrive, and this was after speaking several times with the manager -- our "waiter" had totally abandoned us. Even then, they forgot one dish. The food, when it finally arrived, was mediocre at best. We never got an apology or explanation from anyone. The dishes are served on plastic or paper plates. Unbelievable, when they're charging $35 for some entrees. The worst part of it is that we "dined" at Salt & Loft when they opened last summer, and the experience was exactly the same. We gave them another try because we like the look of the place, wanted to support a local business, and assumed that our previous bad experience reflected issues common to newly opened restaurants. The items are ridiculously overpriced, and the service was a nightmare. I ordered the chicken and was unpleasantly surprised with a bland and dry clump of meat that was clearly store-bought rotisserie. I also ordered the "Loft burger" which I must say did not meet my expectations in the slightest. It was drowning in grease and the cheese was unpleasant to say the least. Same for the bacon. I take comfort in knowing that every other review about this place matches my experience here. We waiting to put our name in for over 25 minutes, there was no host, there were tables opened the owner would walk over, stare at us, then walk away as if he had a daydream. After we sit, our waitress walks over and says "you need to be patient, I'll get to you when I do." (Gave her the benefit of the doubt, they seemed understaffed). She comes over after 20+ minutes and is giving us attitude and snarky responses. We place food orders, menu looked great. She forgot to put in our food order so we just sat there with our thumbs up our butts for over an hour before we asked her... she replies, "oh maybe I didn't put it in" and walked away. No apology. The owner came up to us while one person in our party was in the bathroom and asked if he can take our chair.
