This place is located in the heart of Delmar loop. Sitting at the outside patio is a great way to enjoy a meal while people watching. Street parking is available if you can find a spot. We got the burnt end toasted raviolis, full rack of ribs with creamed corn and sweet pepper potato salad with a bacon and cheddar popover, kids pulled pork sandwich with Mac and cheese and black cherry soda. The burnt end toasted raviolis were amazing and I highly recommend that. It has a crisp exterior with a soft and flavorful filling. The pulled pork sandwich was also a good size and the meat was moist and flavorful. The ribs were just ok. It was dry style but lacked actual flavor to it. The bestie sauce was good but the problem is that the ribs needed sauce. The hot bbq sauce was pretty spicy and more of a hot sauce as opposed to a bbq sauce. The sides were not bad and I think they are unique compared to most bbq sides but none of them were amazing. The green beans with tomatoes also look good and I would consider getting that next time. If I were to come back, I would definitely recommend the ravioli burnt ends and kids pulled pork sandwich. I wouldn't get the ribs again. I just tried Papi's and liked the ribs there more. Also, they were pretty busy when I went so the people are nice but the service wasn't great. I would just get take-out next time. read more

Signed up forwaitlist after leaving a different rin place that said they xouldnt take any more walk-ins. Website said 15 to 20 min wait, but still had to wait 15 minutes once we arrived. Ordered trash ribs, toasted ravs (friend never had this before in St. Louis), and a brisket entree. Ribs were cold when they arrived, but they replaced with hot ones. Ravs were OK. Mustard BBQ sauce was really good on the brisket. Popover was really good. Was glad brisket had very little fat. Great service. Just unfortunately a party of guys at nearby table were so loud. St. Louis has some great bbq and Salt + Smoke is towards the top of my recommendation list! We have been having them a lot more recently because their pickup system is great. You order and pay online and then call them once you arrive. Before the restaurant allowed customers inside, they put the orders on a table or brought it right to your car. Now there's a pickup window that you can easily walk up to. Their brisket is always so tender and the sides are plentiful. I don't really eat bacon, but I pretend it's not in the popover because the popover is that good. Usually I'm full after eating a few slices of brisket and the popover. The sides and leftover brisket still make for a delicious meal the next day. read more

I have to apologize for having low expectations for this place. The pictures really don't do this place justice. I ordered the Trash Ribs that were everything but trash. These ribs were ridiculously tender with the right amount of smoke. They also include a small order of concealed bbq. How do they know me so well? The ribs were so good. Try them. Sides: Fries had parsley and Parmesan. They were honestly so fresh and perfect. The Mac and cheese was good. I would say I could do with or without it. Best brisket I've ever had! I normally like to get a leaner cut of brisket because so many places fatty brisket is just too much fat and I hardly get much meat after I trim it all off. Not this place. I strongly suggest getting the fatty cut because you'll get so much of that good smoky flavor and just have to trim off a little bit of fat. I also loved the Mac and cheese with cracker topping. The popover included with the meal also surprised me as it was delicious. I figured it was just an afterthought throw in but it was great too. The place is open for indoor outdoor and takeout. It was quite busy the night I went there with friends. We did outdoor dining. The service is good and quick. Though the table was not cleaned thoroughly as there were many people waiting and less people catering or serving around. Food is awesome, very local food. We had the smoked meat and brisket, and they were good. The cheeseburger is also delicious with cheesy and meaty flavored blended perfectly. The brisket is a bit dry but tastes okay. Also, the portion of the food is also generous. Overall it is a good place to invite friends and family if you want to have some local food in St. Louis. read more

We ordered the trashed ribs, St. Louis' cut ribs, brisket, smoked wings, beef fat fries, mac n cheese, and green bean and tomato salad. My favorites were the trashed ribs and smoked wings. I like the sauce that was on the trashed ribs. The brisket was on the drier side and not as smoky as I usually like them to be. I enjoyed all the sides and recommend them all. No hesitation at all to give Salt & Smoke another 5 stars based on our return a year later. We stopped while in St Louis for a birthday and of course had to come back and visit our favorite BBQ restaurant. Staff was in great moods and seemed genuinely happy to be there that day. Our server was such a sweetheart and super attentive. She recommended the Burnt End Ravioli appetizer which was SO GOOD!!! Ok I will provide this review with the understanding that we're still in the middle of a pandemic and that I'm well aware that restaurants are doing everything in their power to keep service and quality at the highest level possible. That being said, I consider myself to be on this continued search for the best BBQ throughout the USA and having eaten probably more than my personal physician would like me to. So let's begin. I usually can tell how good any rib is by tasting it without sauce which is exactly what I did. The rib quality was good, meaty with just the right amount of fat to give it hopefully some flavor. Well that flavor just never happened. The texture of the meat was mushy as if the ribs had been boiled prior to smoking. The rub was bland and added virtually no flavor. The sauce definitely helped to get thru this meal which is another sign of bad BBQ. I give the ribs a grade of D. The baked beans were really bad. They had no smoke taste or sweetness and reminded me of Campbell's Baked Beans from a can. The beans get a solid grade of F. Finally the coleslaw. The color was as tho it had been sitting out in open air. It just looked dead. Cabbage was crunchy tho. The taste on the other hand was marginal at best. It needed more vinegar and more sweetness. The coleslaw gets a D. To have so many locations in the STL area I expected the quality to better but I've seen restaurants grow and their quality subsequently decline. The service was excellent tho. Food wasnt bad, my buddies and I ordered the 3 meats dinner. Server took 15 minutes to greet us, other servers around just ingnored us. Once we got service, our server Jolyne, was somewhat friendly, took our orders. Drinks and app came out fast. The old fashioned on the menu is really good. Thats where the good stops. Food came out warm at best. My buddy got the wrong food, server never came back for over 25 mins, by that time 2 of the 3 of us were done eating. Got the two meat ribs and burnt ends Wednesday, terrible. Ribs were not cut, and they were so dry my knife could not cut them nor could I pull them apart. The burnt ends had a good thick sauce but the meat was dry and tough so much that I could not cut it with a knife either.... Fries were good but Mac n cheese was bland.
