Have been eating at Salt Grass restaurants for years...come to Lubbock, worst experience I've had! I ordered the K-Bob...what little veggies I got looked dead! Had the Brussels Sprouts, nothing but salt...and I like salt. My daughter had the half rack, she never got her side. Sorry Mr. Mgr., you need to go! Please don't ever waste your time at this restaurant. I'm not just saying that either. Let me try and keep this short... I've been here now three times. The first time... my girlfriends steak was over cooked and mine was perfect. However, the manager wanted to argue with us and say it was medium rare when in fact it was clearly medium. Second trip... prime rib had a great taste but was way too fatty for my liking. My girlfriends steak was again not surprising over cooked again medium instead of medium rare. Now... by now I'm completely done with this place. But this evening my mother came into town and said the Saltgrass in Amarillo is excellent so I said whatever I'll go one last time. This was the WORST EXPERIENCE YET. I'll save you guys the story. Just go to Texas Roadhouse or Longhorn it's way better value and much better steaks. O and the chefs or cooks actually know how to cook the steaks!!! Should not be difficult to sear a steak and bring it out rare, medium rare, medium, medium well, well done. Not hard. I'll never visit this place again. Thank god Ps... the bread really sucks too. read more

I'm honestly really unpleased by the quality of this high end steak house my food was all under cooked. Asked for medium rare steak and got a rare as well as ordered green beans that were undercooked and cold. The food was bland and our server was at the table twice and completely scattered each time. Overall not impressed for the price of this just go to roadhouse. Won't be back! read more

I have been trying to communicate with any one of the various managers on duty in regards to a refund for food that was not even supposed to have been prepared. Due to what I can only assume was a glitch in the online ordering service my food order was pushed from Christmas Day to the next business day AFTER I paid for my order. I called right away and attempted to cancel the order, which apparently couldn't be done by the staff or myself. So Monday December 26th I went to the restaurant after I got out of work for my first attempt at getting my $99.15 refunded. I was assured that since I didn't pick up my order the charge would not move from pending on my account to an actual charge.....wrong. Now here I am on the 28th of January still out my $99.15. I have visited the restaurant at least 3 times. Spoken to 3 different managers via phone and sent several emails. The last response I have from ANY manager at this establishment was on January 6th. It is ridiculous that a refund should take this long. I understand technical issues happen but the customer service on behalf of Saltgrass since the issue was brought to their attention has been horrendous. I just want some one in charge to contact me regarding my refund immediately or I will have to figure out the next level of management to speak to. read more

As long as you keep on bringing out those fabulous crab cakes, you are our favorite place to eat! Husband, kids, and grandkids all like your steaks. Bread is excellent. If you'd just give me more dressing for my salad, you'd be near perfect. Staff is outstanding, also. Friendly in a businesslike way, extremely polite, always get our orders just right. I know you have been anxiously awaiting my review of this restaurant. Tonight was my first visit to any Saltgrass, but not my first to a Landry's. Items ordered included a ribeye with rice, a dinner salad, a filet and ceasar salad with baked potato and waters. The ribeye was prepared perfectly, but was a little salty and didn't need the slab of butter on top. The salad was smaller than the competition and had fewer ingredients. The rice was luke warm and had to be returned for fresh. The fresh was excellent with a unique twist to pilaf. Serving size very good. The ceasar was small, too, but tasty. The baked potato was good and the filet good and prepared well. The meal started out with bread and butter. No refills were offered, despite we had waiting 80 minutes for a table. We ran out of water, despite the carafe, but was not offered more. We were offered up-sells a million times way past the point of annoyance. At the hour wait time, we questioned our spot in line. Staff were generally arrogant and not too friendly. The wait staff was friendly, but had to follow the corporate mantra of up-sell. I like the advice of Alex who said to sign up for the rewards for a lower wait time. The wait staff did not mention that perk. We saw some very large parties of people going in, so I have to assume this is a good place for large parties. I guess my benchmark in town for this type of restaurant is Texas Road House. I would say that atmosphere, value, and solid wait staff, bread policy, and all is preferred at....Texas Road House. This shouldn't keep you from trying Saltgrass, it is a good Lubbock option. read more

When we have a little extra money and want an extra treat this is our go to restaurant. This place is upscale in the classiest way. The servers are very skilled. The only thing we didn't care for on the menu was the bacon wrapped shrimp, by the time the bacon gets crispy the shrimp is a lump of rubber! But everything is tasty. read more

My wife and I have eaten her at least a dozen times and the food is always excellent! Everything on the menu is delicious. This restaurant in my opinion is the best in Lubbock. It's always fresh, hot and exactly what you order. The wait staff are very professional and attentive. I would definitely recommend Saltgrass and will hopefully be returning soon. read more

First time ever eating at a saltgrass steakhouse and i was very pleased with everyt hing about the place. The servers were very good. The place was very clean and well kept, it is a pretty new establishment so only time will tell. The food.... our table started with 2 appatezers first was the rattglesnake bites which consist of stuffed jalapeno peppers. Very tasty. Second we had the bacon wrapped quail bites. These tasty morsels could be a meal itself. T bone steak was my main course and it was prepared to my liking (rare). Although after sharing those other appetizers I could only eat about half of my steak. Prices are reasonable for a family meal and the atmosphere is good for families also. If you want a good steak and have a budget this would be a good place to go. read more

Okay so Saltgrass on Central Texas is sooooo much better. We got the 8 oz steak and shrimp I had a baked potato and my husband had sweet potato fries as our sides. A side from the water, the salad and the fried mushroom appetizers were great. My steak looked like it was a 4 oz steak and my shrimp was undercooked!! I am super disappointed with this place definitely not worth the money they charge for their food. This place only gets one star because our server was super nice Do not waste your money here, cattle baron, Texas land and cattle and Texas roadhouse are way way better and worth their price tags. read more

Eh. It was okay. The waiter and beer bread were probably the only saving grace with this restaurant. We came here for lunch, and our food took forever. There were other tables who were sat after us that got their food before us~ and we didn't even order any steak. My "philly" sandwich was so fatty and the other guests burgers were dry with super fatty brisket on top. The food upset all of our stomachs almost immediately. I don't think I will return. read more

ASK FOR JACINDA!! SHE'S AN AMAZING WAITRESS! This is a hard review for me to write, because our food and waitress were amazing. Everything was on point with our visit. However, the table beside us had a different experience completely and i just can't ignore that. The table beside us came just a couple of minutes after us. We ordered our drinks, and needed more time to look at the menu. A few minutes later, we order and about 5-7 minutes later, our salads came out. About the time I was finished with my salad, i made eye contact with the lady across from me. It was then I noticed that they hadn't even been helped yet- no drinks, nothing. She was clearly getting impatient, and I know if it had been me, I'd have been upset too. Finally, Without going into too much detail here- a lady employee walked out of the restroom and didn't wash her hands. Unacceptable! The food was amazing. My steak was tender and flavorful. I got the steak and bacon wrapped shrimp. It was to die for! I asked the waiter what the object was on the wall he promised he would find out for me. At the end of the meal I asked again and he told me he didn't know he just works there not looks at the walls. My husband and I really enjoy Saltgrass! We've never had a bad experience yet! The food is always great and the service is even better. The staff at this restaurant work as a team, if the server two tables over notices your drink is running low then they'll refill it for you, instead of running to find your server. It's not just for refills either I have noticed they do that with checks, bread, etc. Another example of quality customer service was when our server expedited or 1 year old son's meal in order to keep him content, and we didn't even ask him to do it! We also really appreciate the military discount that was given. I can't say enough good things about this place! read more

My parents reserved a room for my graduation party a year prior to the actual date. About a week before the party, I went into the restaurant to talk to the manager and make sure everything was still in line for the party and get a feel for where we could put decorations, etc. When I got there he was very friendly and helpful and even asked my preference on which area of the restaurant I preferred, I told him the back room since we would have lots of children and about 25 people. He said that everything was set up and ready for the back room for a PRIVATE party. When we got there for the party, we were seated in the middle of the restaurant against the wall, with no room for anyone (especially the children) to move around, or anywhere for the decorations that my mother worked very hard to put together. When we confronted the manager that this was not what we agreed (and signed a VERY EXPENSIVE contract on), he acted as if we were wrong and blatantly lied about discussing with me that the party would be private. This was supposed to be a very special night and it put my parents in a very bad mood because they paid a very hefty deposit prior to the night. I will say the servers were awesome and did everything they could to make up for the management. We were offered free appetizers and dessert, but in my opinion it did not make up for the fact that the restaurant overbooked parties and threw us under the bus. read more

Service when we walked in was great! Place is beautifully decorated. Waitress was sweet. Got water and bread quickly then waited45 minutes for our meals. The poor people that were seated before us, where still waiting for their food when ours arrived. As for the meal- my husband ordered chicken fried steak with loaded baked potato. He received mashed potatoes. I had a chopped steak- medium rare- with sweet potato fries. Mine came out burnt- black and only the middle was remotely good. Waitress didn't come by to check on us till after we were half way through. Told waitress what happened, she did go speak with the manager. Manager brought out a baked potato for my husband. Not sure 2nd lady was manager as she was dressed and working as a waitress. No compensation on the check for the poor cooking or messed up order. read more

I just wanted a baked potato today...with all the toppings and fresh as I am accustomed to always get at Saltgrass. Not Today- after driving 30 minutes to Ensure a delicious baked potato I get to my hotel room to find a small, overcooked, lack luster dry potato. Barely a teaspoon of each topping- zero bacon-with a hard crusty skin. Disappointing! Didn't even open the salad- who knows what they served me. I guess I should've read the reviews. read more

Saltgrass has all the charm of Applebees while still managing to charge $30 for a mediocre steak. They try to be a "Texas" steakhouse but only had one Texas wine on the wine list (Messina Hof) - where is Llano, McPherson, Becker, Haak?? Their house steak seasoning is super salty and completely overpowers the meat and the side selection is pretty basic. The brownie skillet crumble comes served in a cold (room temp) iron skillet with a dry and tasteless cookie crust. Color me underwhelmed - we won't be back. read more

Waited 2.5 hrs for food. They were not busy. Had to send food back because it was cold and nasty. Steak quality was much less than par. A $30 steak should at least be worth eating. I like this place---but like it mostly on the off hours. It is very noisy during 'prime time' and there is somewhat of a 'cattle call' about it.
