I was in town for a few days last month and my family took me to Saltgrass. Before I start my review, let me just say that I have frequented other locations of Saltgrass around the state of Texas and always had a very pleasant experience ,however my experience in Lubbock was the worse I have ever had at Saltgrass. My family and I ordered our entrees and we did not get them for 1.5 hrs and the restaurant was not even full. We were later told that they forgot to make our order. When we did finally get our food, two entrees were wrong. The manager was apologetic and I felt really bad for the server as the problem was not under his control but I think I'll stick to going to Saltgrass only in the hill country. I was really embarrassed at how bad this Salt grass was. I eat often at Salt grass in the DFW which is always great food and service. I recommend this for lunch for my brothers birthday. Steaks came out cold and way under cooked. Mash potatoes came out as potato soup on a plate. Server was pretty decent but really couldn't make up for the crap they were bringing out of the kitchen. read more

We decided to try it last week and so far.....not good. We were told it would be about a 20 minute wait for a table and 45 minutes later we were still waiting. After about an hour, we were finally seated. Waitress was sweet but mixed up two of our orders. 30 minutes later, the manager finally came over to help sort it out. He wasn't very pleasant but tried to apologize. I am very disappointed, but we are frequent visitors at other Saltgrass restaurants and are hopeful that this location will improve with time. read more

Just had lunch with 6 coworkers--don't go if you only have an hour! One of the entrees was wrong--the server got it right, the kitchen got it wrong. She sent out her mgr to acknowledge the mistake and he could have cared less! Sorry customer service! And my chicken fried steak was tough and the breading fell off. We are Landry's Select Club members. Went with my husband on Sunday at lunch. This is hands down the restaurant with the best service in town. I was actually surprised by this as we have been to some great restaurants. Like stated earlier, we are Landry's Select members so we had a $50 credit going in ($25 for joining/$25 for birthday reward-if you don't have one, get one). It's basically a frequent diners card. You get points for every dollar you spend. Ordered the Range Rattlers for appetizer. These are basically shrimp, cheese, etc fried inside a jalapeño. Not overly impressed with these. They were slightly undercooked as there was still raw batter inside, however, this was the only oversight during our dining there. We ordered iced tea and our waiter brought them out with a carafe. (Joseph?) our drinks were never empty and every time our waiter or the manager came out (Yes, the manager came out to greet us), our used sugar packets and damp napkins (from drink condensation) were promptly removed. It's hard enough to get pre-bussed tables anywhere else. Let alone cleaning up our minor trash. In addition, when our main course came out, ALL SILVERWARE was replaced; such a nice touch. Steak (12 oz ribeye) was cooked perfectly. The mashed potatoes were a little thin, but still pretty good. (I recommend the baked potato over the mashed potatoes.) I ordered the Western Chopped Steak and it was great as well. Salads were wonderful and, if you follow my Yelp reviews, you know I'm a huge ranch dressing freak, and theirs is butter-yo-milk, slap yo mamma, real. The salads come with huge croutons that tasted like cheese was baked in. We were too full to order dessert, but we will be back soon to try that as well. We waited over an hour and a half before we were ever seated for a birthday party of 20. After we sat down and ordered, our salads were horrible. We were given the ends of the tomatoes with our salad. To top it off, when our food finally came out after another hour and a half, all the food that we ordered was cold. I asked for another item and the man with a clip board and pen in his hand played in my plate with is thumb. I knew that was someone elses plate and he brought it to me with his thumb prints all over my plate. Major turn off. The one good star was the male server Michael. He was patient with us for such a large croud. The other person who was supposed to help him bailed on us never to be seen the rest of the night. read more

Visited for wife's birthday lunch. The service was excellent! Especially our waiter David. We enjoyed a Margarita and we shared the Double Smoked Pork Chop. Since we told our waiter we were sharing it, the kitchen split our entire meal in half down to the salad! Our drinks never ran out as they provided a carafe of both tea and water! Meal was really good! Gonna have to come back! Only reason for the 4 stars and not 5 was the prices! Expensive!! read more

My mother loves the Saltgrass in Houston and she says it is just as good as the one in Houston. We were greeted with a happy staff. And we're seated immediately. The waitstaff is very attentive.The smaller the filet mignon and it was cooked perfectly. I highly recommend coming to salt grass. Can't wait to come again. read more

First off I want to say that this steak house is my number one choice in Lubbock. The service, food and atmosphere are off the charts. I often frequent the bar top to grab a quick bite. The bartender Jacquelyn often goes above and beyond to make sure that my experience here is always A1( see what I did there, FYI if you use A1 here, that's a sin). Her recommendations and service are par to none. Easily best employee at this establishment. She is, in part why I always make this my stop for drinks and steaks! read more

We came in on a Friday night around 630 we didn't leave till about 930 :/ which kinda sucked cause it was late.. our waitress was really nice though good staff trying to get the food out I think it was the chefs in the back..next time I hope we get out sooner but over all a good experience. My husband and I like to try new places on date night. There was a 45 minute wait. We were seated in about 25. First thing I noticed is its VERY loud. Music is so loud, you gave to yell to hear each other. We ordered bacon wrapped quail which was really good. My ceasar salad was good, but my husband's looked like it had been sitting under a heat lamp for awhile. The sweet tea is excellent! The wait staff is very polite, but rushed and half present. My husband ordered ribs and shrimp. The shrimp was perfect. Ribs were average. I had the steak kabob. Do not order this if you are counting on alit of meat. Mine only had 4 small pieces. The sweet potato fries are awesome tho. I think its a little pricey $86 for 2 people. May try again for lunch one day read more

The food was amazing, and the service was pretty good too! But if you are at all interested in talking with the people you are dining with, you should probably go somewhere else. My grandmother was pretty much excluded from any conversation because she couldn't hear over the music, which was also loud enough to trigger my daughter's social anxiety, which made her have to go sit in the car and get her food to go. The issue was brought to staff's attention at least twice, but it never did get any quieter. I didn't go to two-step, I went for a family dinner, but I've been to bars that weren't that loud. So if you don't mind being blown away by the music, or getting your food to go, it's very tasty. Just not somewhere I'll take the family again. read more

This was our first visit to the Saltgrass Steakhouse and I am not impressed. We went there for dinner and I ordered the Honey Sriracha Chicken with a side salad. Asking for the salad before the meal it consisted of maybe 2 leaves of cut up lettuce and about 6 croutons. When my chicken arrived I thought they must be bringing out the rest of the meal separately but to my surprise, nothing else was brought out. My meal consisted of 1 rolled up chicken breast with some shaved Brussel Sprouts invisible until you moved the chicken over. Price $16.99. My husband ordered the Salmon with a house salad. His salad was a little bigger but he too was awestruck at the meal. It consisted of a piece of Salmon (about 3X5 piece) way overseasoned and that was it. Cost $19.49 I am sure we will not be going back to Saltgrass. You get good service for your money but very little food. read more

We had EXCELLENT service! Eric (the ginger) was wonderful and full of personality. He made sure we had everything we needed, gave appropriate upsell options, and was complimentary of our choices. The food was amazing! We ordered the Range Rattlers for an app. They were large shrimp wrapped in rattler cheese and a meaty jalapeño, lightly battered and fried, and served atop a mountain of fried onion strings with a side of homemade ranch. I ordered a Caesar salad and my husband ordered the tortilla soup. Both were delicious. For entrees we ordered the Pat's Ribeyes (16oz.), one smothered and one Oscar Style. The steaks were PERFECTLY cooked Medium rare, and the sides (one grilled asparagus and one sweet potato) were also cooked to perfection. We ended the night with the chocolate cake which was recommended by Eric. A perfect compliment to a delicious meal. We will definitely be back! Kudos for hiring a solid staff! The service was good. The food was not so good. I ordered a 16oz. rib eye. It ripped apart instead of cutting with a knife. Pretty fatty piece of meat. Wasn't all that. Another thing there was a table of 6 where apparently 6 to 8 of the staff knew them and they were all concentrating on that table talking, especially a smaller waitress with hair with frosted tips who was there for at least 10 minutes talking. We had to walk around her so she didn't move. Help and pay attention to other customers not just your friends. Will never return to this restaurant and would not recommend it either. read more

Ordered the sirloin and shrimp, the sirloin was dry and and luke-warm. The T bone was very veiny and nervy. The salads came right as our meal came out as well. Horrible. Just plain horrible experience. Saltgrass is a family favorite of ours. We even go when we are out of town if the town we are staying in has one, but this one was just awful! Not only did we have about 4 different waiters because ours was too busy talking to the other staff and a girl he was following around the restaurant, but they were so rude. The hostess was a sweetheart, but the rest of the kids there are hopeless. They had another staff member who was off come in for a meal and completely ignored their tables to chit chat with this girl. They all seemed to be too bothered when asked for anything so much so that there were eye rolls and just flat out ignoring us at times as well! I was very disappointed and not only will we not be returning, but neither will our friends or family. The busser expected us to bus our own table as he put the huge black bucket on our table and my husband and I had to help him because he almost spilled soup on my husband. Our food was freezing cold. We had to Repeatedly ask for silverware. That's pretty basic. The manager said she handled the issue after I requested to speak to her and clearly that didn't happen because we were greeted with so much sass not only from our waiter and the other staff, but she gave us a measly 20$ to compensate us for the headache we endured while eating here. My steal was nothing but fat and the waited (if you can even call him that) was so occupied chasing tail around the place that he kept having to ask the other staff members to help us because he simply couldn't be bothered to do his job or repeatedly asked us what we asked him for. Part of being a waiter is remembering orders. If you can't do that, maybe waiting isn't for you. Our bill was 88$, my husband and I get up to go pay at the bar after 30 minutes of waiting for our check and the waiter chases him then asks us why someone didn't bring our check already! It was unbelievable as he was the waiter and that's HIS job! When handing him a $100 bill, he asks my husband if he can keep the change (very tacky and just not something you do as a waiter) and then he proceeds to take another 15 minutes because he "didn't have change". Which was told to us by one of the girls he was chasing around kissing on all night. I'm sorry, but if you've been at work and it's almost closing time and you don't even have 12 in tips to give us change after a whole shift, you're probably not the best at your job and should take the half a brain cell you have left and attempt to get into a communicate college somewhere... I've never had such awful service and so many tacky trashy people fill up an entire restaurant and it's just sad. Took forever to get even our drink order and then another 15 minutes just to get the drinks. We had plans after and didn't get to proceed with them because we were there for fang near three hours all because the manager wants to hire a bunch of horny college kids instead of people who have their heads screwed on properly. Go to work, do your job, go home. Play time is for after work. read more

The kitchen is slow here so don't expect to be in a rush at this place. I did notice people at the restaurant were tipping terrible I heard table around me tipping 10% because they thought the food was pricey. Which it totally isn't overpriced it's quality food and great service we had a long time server Kiley as our waitress super perky and made us feel special. We recommend you ask for her as we do every time now. The general manager was super fake seeming when our steak was cooked wrong I think his name was Eric or Aaron but either way besides him and the slow kitchen 4 out of 5. read more

We went to this location for the first time yesterday. I've only been to the one in San Antonio and it was ok, but the Lubbock location is wonderful! I have been to a Saltgrass Steakhouse in other cities on a couple of occasions, so my expectations were high. I ordered the NY Strip med-rare with a salad and Brussels sprouts. My date ordered prime rib with a salad and steak fries. My steak came out well done. The salad looked like it had some age on it. And the sprouts were bitter, cold, and unseasoned. My date's prime rib is hard to describe, but appeared to be warmed in a microwave. Her steak fries were yesterday's (hopefully) baked potatoes. With a couple of drinks and a $90 tab, I am unsatisfied. I would be only partially satisfied at half the price. Stay away until they figure things out. read more

My son took me to Saltgrass the day after Father's Day. We went at 4:45pm. I ordered the pork chop and it was delicious and juicy. The baked potato looked and tasted like it had been in the oven for 2 days. Dry, hard, cold and the waitress got my toppings wrong. They brought me another potato and it was not much better. The salad is plain - just lettuce. I can't remember anything else in the salad. Texas Roadhouse is a lot better and cheaper. For $22.95 for this dinner, I expected a lot more. read more

Food itself was tasty and great presentation. 5 stars to the chef. The service is another story. My husband and I went in for a late lunch. Arrived about 2:00 and was seated at 2:30. Our waiter was Tim. He took our drink order right away and they came fairly quickly. Tim took our food order and suggested an appetizer. We decided to order the Range Rattlers. A while later, another waiter brought us our salads. Since we didn't see Tim anywhere, we figured he forgot to order the appetizer. We ate our salads, then waited. No one checked on us, we just sat and waited. Then a manager came to table and brought the Rattlers, just said they were hot and just came out of the fryer. They were not hot, only warm. Then Tim comes to the table and asks if the manager apologized for the wait on the appetizers, and we told him no. Then the manager comes back and apologizes for the wait. We told him we expected the appetizer before our salads. He said the rattlers would not be on our bill, he would take care of that. Finished the rattlers and waited again for our meal. It finally came and was brought by another waiter. The plates looked great, very nicely presented. When we cut in to our food, we found them both to be room temperature. We were never checked on and I had to wave down our waiter to get a refill on the iced tea. When he finally brought the bill, it was $78.00. We put a $100.00 bill and again I had to wave him down to take the bill, He said he would be right back with the change. 10 minutes later we were still waiting for our change. By this time we had been there 2 hours and we just wanted to leave. I had to go to the front desk and have the hostess go find Tim. When he finally came back he said he was trying to get the rattlers removed from the bill and management wouldn't do it. We didn't care about that, we did eat them, we just wanted to leave. Our service was excellent from the hostess to the bus boy. I am pretty picky about my salmon and the waitress made sure to ask the cooks to prepare it the way I asked. Our drinks were never low and we weren't lacking in attention from our waitress. She also didn't hoover like most waitstaff likes to do. I felt she was a perfect waitress and did well. That being said the food was phenomenal my salmon was smokey and my boyfriends steak was melt in your mouth goodness. We will be coming back regularly. Been to this location a few times. There was a bit of wait for 2 so we found a spot at the bar. Food was great as usual but the service from Rachel was not. The service was okay. Our waitress was nice. The food... My steak was very overdone, my potatoes were so cooked they were hard as a rock. My husband ordered BBQ shrimp and no where did it say there was cream cheese and jalapeños in them. Also I never received my Caesar salad. Overall, not a great first impression.
