When I got back to my room and looked what they gave me, I literally felt like they robbed me blind. So many options in the area that would never treat a customer like that. Sooooo I've been to the Saltgrass on the Riverwalk n San Antonio many many times. The food has always been good there. Being on the Riverwalk gels the ambiance as you can imagine. So I decided to take the fam here Saturday. Boy was I not disappointed. I'm a steak lover so obviously I got a steak. The NY Strip was cooked to perfection. The baked potatoe was literally one of the best potatoes I've EVER had. But what really made this a 5 star experience was our waiter. His name was Matt. He was the best waiter I've ever had. Completely average; probably a place you can skip. Burger was overcooked and awful and the steak was about average. The country fried steak was the highlight of the meal- great breading, steak was cooked well, and nice gravy. Kind of reminds me of a Outback steakhouse type of place. If you are a steak house you should know how to cook steak. Table of 4, all steaks. None cooked even close to correct. I went medium and got very rare. Like cool center rare. I get it. These things happen and maybe it's not the norm. But it seemed clear that neither the server or the manager who came by could have cared less. That's where you lost me. I think it's the location. The management and staff should know they are getting trashed on social media for the manager apparently being a rude ass hat, having no empathy or compassion for people and rejecting using delivery services. Sat at the bar during the 5:00 hour. Ordered the tenderloin tips, which were super salty and pretty well done. Bartender told me it only came with one side, but the menu indicated two. I only received one, and it wasn't even the one I ordered. My husband ordered the sirloin, which he said was fine. Wasn't told that our meal came with bread until after we were done ordering. We would've skipped the appetizer (mushrooms) if we'd known. Bartender seemed disingenuous and robotic as she pitched up sell after up sell. It was a funny thing to joke about amongst ourselves afterward until later on in our meal when we overheard her telling another bartender, "We do the wells, but you gotta always try to up sell." I understand that's how a business works, but it was pretty terrible how she talked and went about it. Bartender didn't check in after our meal or refill my water until after my plate was cleared. Maybe she was mad I didn't do any up sells. ;) Overall, the food wasn't great and the service was even worse. We won't be back. read more

They are open for dine in. What can I say about Salt Grass. Owned by Landry's with several locations throughout the US. First time eating at the Salt Grass; it won't be the last either. I had a party of 7 which included two 9 year olds and a 12 year old. Everything except the mini corn dogs and cheese pizza on the kids menu is home made. From scratch. First the bread is good, served complimentary with honey butter. We had the chips and queso for an appetizer. Surprisingly good queso for a steak house. Chips were wonderful also. We also tried the fried onions or onions strings. Thinly, sliced onions with a light breading and fried. They weren't on the menu but our knowledgeable waiter suggested them. We perused the menu and settled on our main courses while eating the appetizers. I picked the 16oz Ribeye (medium rare) urban cowboy style. What is urban Cowboy style you may ask?? Glad you asked. Urban Cowboy Style is comprised of 5 shrimp doused in lemon butter with red pepper flakes and chives topping out the steak. It's the way to go in my professional opinion. I got the baked potato as a side. Topped with butter, cheese, bacon and chives. Very good also. I sampled some other entrees from my family's plates. The grilled shrimp was good, served on a bed of rice pilaf. Ask for urban Cowboy style though. The grilled shrimp was good, though. My wife got the filet and it was magical. Fork tender. Medium rare to medium throughout. Delicious. Mashed potatoes were good as was the French fries. All worthy sides to a fantastic steak. Against my better judgement I tried the cheesecake. Loud, Salty, and Clunky sounds like a bad rock band. One of the friends in my group last night suggested Longhorn and I spoke up for trying Saltgrass being new and similar choice. First thing I noticed was the intense sound, we were at a table in the middle which was so loud we had to shout to hear each other. When the server came up he was too soft spoken for the moment and several things had to be repeated. There was a question on which server was going to have our table. We waited a fair amount of time for drinks. When the appetizer showed up it was obviously sitting in the warmer too long as the cheese had started to congeal. We ordered our food and one theme through it all after getting it back was the saltiness to everything. A friend ordered the potato cheese soup, similar story to the appetizer looked like it sat there for a bit waiting to come about. Maybe the saltiness was to make us drink more, like a bar with its popcorn or peanuts. My steak was salty but cooked well. I do not think for the prices they charge it is worth the portions you receive. Bad first impression. I tried to chalk it up to new restaurant but after over a month of existence seems some of the clunkiness in service should be worked out. Omaha has many other options for food as does this area of town. No need to waste time on this chain. read more

We just had an excellent meal! We both had ribeyes. They were perfectly cooked as we ordered. After expressing our concern about our steaks being perfectly cooked when we were ordering, Adam, our server said he'd remind us to cut into it right away and make sure they looked good. He did and they were perfect! My husband had fries with his. They were crispy and salted perfectly. I had green beans. They were sautéed or roasted to crisp-tender and nicely seasoned. Adam was a great server and we were super happy to have a meal that cost half the price of the high end steakhouses that tasted even better. I am lowering my previous rating based on the Thanksgiving day experienced at Saltgrass Steak House. Reservations were made 2 weeks prior to arriving on time at the restaurant. They still had us wait 10 minutes to be seated even though people were leaving and the restaurant was closing in less than 1 hour. The server apologized for not arriving for another 5-6 minutes and took our beverage order. It was a 40 minute wait for the food to arrive. My potatoes were cold while the rest of the food was fine. The server forgot about the grilled shrimp and apologized again after returning with this side dish 10 minutes later. Yes, it was obvious the restaurant like many others are short-staffed but they also made sure to block off parts of the restaurant to control the over-crowd issue. The 2 takeout additional orders came out quicker than our own food in regards to time. The food quality is very good here but the service wasn't, especially during Thanksgiving. read more

Chicken Breast, not good. Sweet Potato Fries, terrible. Complimentary bread, leftover from Folsom Prison. Ribs, blah. Sliders, ehh. Steak, good (14 year old review). Lowlight was wine with the lipstick on the glass, it happens. Send it back, and get another, with a different shade of lipstick. This doesn't happen. What a Fantastic discovery! In searching for a new place to eat, we came across Salt Grass. So glad we did ! The atmosphere was charming, The Food was Fabulous.. and the staff were Exemplary! Our waitress ,Katie, was so friendly and so helpful. RJ and several of the gentleman servers were also very attentive to us. The Manager greeted us and we have never felt so welcome! Nope. Added asparagus- with an upcharge it was literally dehydrated and inedible. Maybe I misread the menu on line and we ate it all, but won't get it again or go into the restaurant. First time there tonight. House salad, ribeye and filet. It was solid good. Had a Manhattan and they actually muddled the cherry and orange (that was refreshing because most don't ).
