Five of us went on a busy Saturday night for a friend's birthday. A reservation is helpful as we were seated right away. Our server Wes, was very good and attentive with everything. Everyone was happy with their food , which ranged from chicken fried chicken, salmon oscar, and grilled shrimp. I ordered the 10 oz Wagon Boss Center-Cut Top Sirloin, medium rare, which I've ordered on previous visit and it was great. This time it came out very rare, which wasn't ideal but I decided to just go with the flow and not send it back. But, besides it being cooked wrong, the steak was also very grisly and pretty hard to cut, too. Next time I'll probably just stick to getting a filet or the T-bone on our next visit. When planning our cross country drive, we looked for a Saltgrass location along our projected path. Most are in the southern US but this location was "smack dab" on the way. We were excited and looked forward to stopping here. They of course had great steaks but also had amazing sides. This is what makes them different in my book. I have been to many steak houses and just about all of them have decent to great steaks. Very few establishments combine that with an excellent variety (and quality) of side dishes. This was our first time trying Saltgrass and we came with my extended family. Thankfully we arrived before 6 because it was packed by the time we got our food. The restaurant has a very outback/lone star type decor and feel too it, but keeps with its own unique style and menu options. We all ordered something different which was nice to see a variety for next time! I had the ribs and crispy shrimp combo plate. The ribs were fall-off-the-bone-tender and lathered in sauce just the way I like mine. The shrimp had a nice crunchy coating but not overly cooked which gave it good flavor. For sides I tried their roasted Brussel sprouts and Caesar salad. They were some of the best sprouts I've ever had. The whole table agreed (several people ordered them as well). Crispy, seasoned and just enough sauce. Delicious! My wife tried their grilled shrimp and crunchy shrimp plate. I thought their grilled shrimp was actually better than the fried after trying one of hers. They were seasoned very well and grilled to perfection. This restaurant is amazing. I've been to two locations one in Fort Worth, Texas and the other in Nashville, Tennessee both locations did not disappoint. The menus are perfectly balanced with your choice of Stake that is perfectly seasoned and cooked with the best portions of sides. The service again awesome the employees are always happy to help and answer any questions you may have. The interior was unique to each location Texas had an old time Texas look and Nashville old Nashville look. Both locations the atmosphere was very comfortable and relaxing. Okay, so I am going to leave 2 reviews as I had dinner there on Wednesday and lunch today. First, I have eaten at Saltgrass many times as I travel 35+ weeks a year for work. The food, service, and atmosphere are always consistent. I like me the dark wood feeling of the bar area. I had the NY Strip medium (which usually comes out closer to medium rare). Salad with bleu cheese, and bake potato with only butter. I always ask them not to put any seasonings on the steak as you can't taste the meat or quality. As usual, I was not disappointed. Just enough fat to provide that seasoning. Cooked perfectly, and the potato not over baked. The salad was crisp in a cold bowl with the right amount of dressing. Today I had the Texas Dip. The shaved roast beef was tender and not over cooked on a toast ed baguette with grilled onions and pepper jack cheese. The au jus was warm and not salty. The fries hot and fresh. Washed it down with an Old Fashion that was very yummy. read more

The wife and I went here for our 43rd wedding anniversary. Made reservations on open table app. Very easy. When we arrived the young man said follow me and then realized that a couple were already sitting at that table. We went back to the lobby and were then seated in a couple minutes. Took 5-10 minutes for the waiter to greet and take drink order. We could tell he was very young and new to this so no problem there. Another 5-10 minutes passed and he came back for out dinner order. Each had a steak and a side. Salads and bread came out fairly quickly. The bread is one of those tastes that you either like it or don't. Tasted like earth. Not good. The waiter comes back about 15 minutes later to tell us that a large party got there food order in just before ours and our food would out in about 5 minutes. 5 minutes later he comes back and apologizes again for the delay and our food will be out in about 3-4 minutes. By this time my wife has noticed a few tables that were seated after us were getting their food orders. The waiter comes back 5 minutes later, apologizes again for the delay. My wife mentions others are getting their food and we're seated after us, he apologizes for that as well. Poor guy. You could see the frustration/embarrassment on his face. Need to mention that the table next to us had a complaint of their steaks being undercooked. (This will tie in later) My wife tells me that she has had about enough after waiting 45 minutes for food and just wanted to leave, I couldn't disagree. We got up, left $10 on the table for the young man as this was not his fault. Went to front and spoke with a manager. Told her what the issues were. She asked where were we seated and we showed her the table. She asked what can she do to help and my wife said give us our food and let us go. She said ok. Packed up in a couple minutes. Weird how it was ready then? We didn't have to pay for anything. Anyway, we take the food home and start to eat. Smoked Mac n cheese was tasty. The 2 fillets were ordered medium rare. As they should be, right? Cut into them both and they were not red and juicy, they were purple and raw. So overhearing the table next to us complain about this very thing of undercooked steak tells me the cooks have no business being in the kitchen. This was our 1st visit and on our wedding anniversary to boot. Very disappointed. read more

When I am drinking a glass of water? The manager or assistant manager came out with the bill and decided to Go ask another person if he could comp one meal. So he came back we paid for the drink and one meal. We had a doc appt not far away so we took the food and left. We took the food home after appt mine kind of looked like dog food. It was the best part of the meal! While perusing the menu, we are having difficulty because things just don't look good. It is varied what we get: a Ribeye Rare, with potato soup. Soup flavor was good, soup was cold! Yes, cold! Steak was good, but needed flavor! The chicken fried chicken ordered with broccoli was delicious, warm, although lacking a sufficient amount of gravy, it was good and broccoli was perfects. Now, to the $32 REDFISH with burnt Brussels sprouts. And the $36 Cajun Ribeye with burnt Brussels. The Redfish was waaaaaaaay overcooked! Would have been confused with chicken!! Spice was excellent. It was so dry, it went 1/2 uneaten. The salad was cold, crisp and delicious with ranch dressing. The Cajun steak.... Rare to barely medium rare. Should have ordered it rare . But the Cajun seasoning? Nothing. It must have been the crawfish with the 1.5 pieces of shrimp on top that made it "Cajun". I had to add salt and pepper to flavor it . How disappointing for a fricken $200 bill with tips! The server, for lack of a better word, sucked! She was young, improperly trained, and never checked in but once. Am I harsh? Yes, for this kind of meal, we should have gone to Outback for a prime rib. The Long Island Iced tea was "Texas Tea", with barely any Coke and forgot the peach syrup. It wasn't bad, but they could be a little more generous on the dip, we ran out well before running out of chips and there wasn't very much of either. Our food came shortly afterwards and was cooked perfectly. The steak was juicy and tender and the veggies were well seasoned. Went to Saltgrass at Village Pointe in Omaha tonight. Checked in at the front and was told it would be about a 15 minute wait. We told the Host that we would wait in the bar. After about 30 minutes, we hadn't heard anything so we checked. The Host we had checked in with was there along with the Manager. The Manager said they had called for us and we didn't respond so they went to the next name on the list and it would be over an hour wait now. I explained that we were sitting 15 feet away at the bar, but the Manager said she didn't know and she wasn't willing to do anything to rectify the situation. We left. I will not be going back due to the Manager's dismissive attitude. It would have taken very little effort for them to walk 5 feet to call out our names into the bar area where we had told her associate we would be waiting. read more

Enrique the manager was super friendly and stood at our table for over 10 minutes chatting with us. he also gave us a complimentary dessert for our 42nd anniversary, which the serving size was huge!! they also honor military discount which is always a plus. It was just okay. We sat in the back room by the fireplace which was very nice. I definitely suggest requesting that room. It is smaller not as many people and a bit more intimate feel. I had the duo shrimp, Caesar salad and sweet potato fries. I enjoyed the salad that was very good. The rest was just meh. Not sure I liked the sauce on the grilled shrimp. The cocktail sauce was good that came with the fried shrimp. My husband and daughter felt the same we won't be hurrying back here but it is worth a go especially if you are looking for comfort foods. Background: My spousal unit loved Saltgrass when we lived in Texas, and she wanted to eat dinner at the Omaha location on her birthday. Based on the lousy reviews both here on Yelp and Google, I talked her out of it. However, we were deciding on a lunch location on a Saturday in mid-February (2021) and I suggested Saltgrass. So we rolled in, along with the offspring, at 2pm on Saturday. For the money, we should have gone almost anywhere else. And I'm glad we didn't come here for dinner! Food: -Queso fresco/chips: ok, could have had more chips...not a lot for 3 people. Not worth $10 that it cost. -Pineapple margarita: good taste but lacking any tequila flavor. In no way, shape, or form was it worth $11. -Tropical sangria: good but lacking alcohol flavor, and not worth $9.75 -Chopped steak (lunch menu) with mashed potatoes: I thought it was ok. Spouse said it tasted like "soapy dish water". After she said that I began to taste something funny. $13.79 -Country fried steak (lunch menu) with fries: gravy needed salt. Offspring said CFS was good...peppery. $12.89 plus $2.49 for a Caesar side salad. -Boss cut sirloin 6oz with mashed potatoes and Caesar salad: it was ok. $15.99 Verdict: Lunch for three of us, plus 2 liquor drinks and a $3.25 Dr Pepper (are you kidding me?!?), totaled $86.81 with tax for the items listed above. $98 with tip (15% based on pre-tax amount, not post-tax like suggested tips on your bill often show). This LUNCH (!!!) for 3 was NOT worth $100. Maybe $50. Maybe. Times may be tough with COVID and all, but they aren't that tough in Omaha. And I can get a much better steak lunch elsewhere for the same price, or less. I can get a better drink for the same price (see my reviews on Backlot Pizza Kitchen). The Maude Sour is excellent and the best part of the meal. I liked the Potato Soup but it was room temperature when it arrived. I thought I'd bring it home and have it as leftovers but when they offered to box it up, they never brought it back. The cheese in the sauce trio was cold and lumpy. My strip steak was the toughest steak I have ever had. Very, very disappointing. We wanted to give it a second chance before reviewing so went back a week later for lunch. Well... I have drove by many times and wanted to try this new place. In Omaha you have to be at your best to compete with other steakhouse or it's good by. The person that brought the items to my vehicle was very nice. I ordered the 9 oz filet, baked potato and a salad. The filet had little flavor it seemed to miss the spice for that added touch that a filets need. Overall the was good but not great! My wife ordered the salmon, it was over cooked very dry and the fat line was still on the salmon which causes a foul taste when eating that area. The baked potato was very dry, seemed under cooked. The salad was small and a bit on the wilted side. The jalapeño poppers were very good, I enjoyed the heat and the flavor, would order again! I'm giving 3 stars as a benefit to the doubt because of the state we're in. I may try again once we're past the first part of this war. read more
