this review is strictly based on my takeout experience tonight. was on hold forever on initial call. got to the take out / to go counter and can't say the folks were all that friendly. food came out, was put in a bag and the waitress just sat it down. no communication, no showing me/QCing that the order was correct, I had to check the order myself. not that i mind doing it, but most places do it with you. after going through the bag, they didn't have my dessert in. after asking about it i was told they forgot to ring it in. so more waiting for them to run the card again and wait on the dessert. the salads were a lot smaller to go and also, they didn't give me much in terms of gravy for my country fried steak. the picture shows all that i was able to get out of the container. def wouldn't say i'd be eager to go the to go route again. i got better service from Pluckers!! read more

Not happy with this location, the one over off beltway 8 near deer Park & Pasadena & In Kemah are FAR more customer service dependable and friendly. I would've ordered a second drink but never got asked, I would also considered dessert but did not get asked. It was not busy and the wait staff and the manager were sort of like a two ring circus but everyone stayed in one Ring, chatting and checking iPhones instead of being the customer wait staff... but then when the manager is observing & chatting as well I guess it's like monkey see then monkey do ! Longhorn Steak House right up the freeway was much much better with food and Customer Service, friendly and accommodating. Saltgrass at least this location is not a competitor in the customer service department in my opinion . Went so celebrate my wife and a friend's birthday. We were seated quickly by the host who was very friendly and asked "how is the day going". She took us to the perfect table. We had a great waiter Joe Rey he is the best, friendly, fast, helpful person. He suggested items and let us take our time to decide. We were never rushed and made us feel comfortable. Piss poor service. I ordered online at 7:40pm, they told me my order would be ready in 15 minuets. When I got there around 8pm, my order wasn't even put in. I ended up waiting till around 8:45 pm. I have been trying to call in an order for 20 minutes and the phone is just ringing and ringing. Their hours say they're open but apparently nobody can hear the phone?? It's Mother's Day at not even 3pm so we figured maybe they wouldn't be too busy but I guess we were wrong since nobody is picking up. Now I've gone to both the Kemah boardwalk and Gulf freeway locations and I have to say hands down, go to the Gulf freeway location. Like any Landry chain restaurant, it'll be busy, but 1. You don't have to deal with the chaotic parking that comes along with going to Kemah boardwalk and 2. I had a way better experience at the Gulf freeway location. I had gone to Saltgrass on the Kemah boardwalk a couple times but never gone to the Gulf freeway location. I was in the mood for steak but had trouble convincing my boyfriend to drive to Kemah and deal with the weekend parking chaos. I love the prime rib they've got and after reminding my boyfriend that we had seen a Saltgrass off the Gulf freeway, I was finally able to twist his arm into taking me. It was dinner on a Saturday night around 630pm, I absolutely expected there to be a wait. Surprisingly, we didn't have to wait more than 15 minutes before our buzzer lit up and the hostess showed us to our booth. There are some interesting animal game stuffed heads along the walls but I think that's to be expected at a Texan steakhouse.... I ordered the prime rib medium rare, I always order this. Saltgrass does a very delicious prime rib and its appropriately priced. I just love the au jus and horseradish dipping sauce that comes along with it. I know very well what a prime rib entails considering its my staple order at any steakhouse. However, the server made it a point to inform me that prime rib wasn't your "typical" steak; its usually warm pink and fatty. I guess most people didn't know that about prime rib but I still appreciated the "heads up." I chose a caesar salad and the mac and cheese as my two sides. You definitely get your moneys worth for what comes with the entrees. My boyfriend got the sausage, chicken and ribs combo platter. The sausage was meh, the chicken was slightly dry but the ribs; oh my gosh the ribs were so good. They had a really great flavor and were tender, juicy and many bites of yumminess. He and I both agreed that next time, he will probably just order a basket of ribs. We forced ourselves to save room for their seasonal pumpkin cheesecake dessert. Again, absolutely scrumptuous! Actually, I should probably stop by there tomorrow and order a whole pie to-go before they take it off the menu! The only real negative thing I have to say is when I went to Saltgrass with my boyfriend's mother, she ordered one of the fish dishes and it was way nasty. It was overly salty, didn't smell fresh and was quite dry. And I recall seeing a couple tables before send back fish dishes. But then again, its a steakhouse. Personally, I would never order a fish dish at a steakhouse. As for the service, our server was very friendly and attentive. I can be picky at times to test the service and he was uber patient and definitely passed the test. I really enjoyed dining at this Saltgrass. Its probably one of my favorite steakhouses and I will definitely be back there again. read more

Go to Texas Roadhouse Instead. The best thing here is their Shiner Bock bread. Their steaks are too salty, and the chef doesn't know how to cook them to order. The baked potato soup is OK. The waitress upsold my girlfriend on a salad that was terrible, and kept asking if everything was "perfect." Nothing was perfect. Then she tried to take the only good thing, the Shiner Bock bread off the table. I snatched it out of her hand and gave her a dirty look. Landry's sucks. Kemah boardwalk sucks. Tilman Fertitta sucks. I am done with his crap. I haven't tried Red Sushi, but I am sure it sucks too. This is not just a hatred of him, and Kemah, or Galveston, or the San Luis. I've been to this Saltgrass many times and many times been disappointed. Mostly because they never cook my steak right and it's the toughest sirloin on the planet. I've learned to order it rare because if you order it medium rare it will come medium. Now that I order it rare, it gets sort of medium rare. 1/11/20 Bathrooms were disgusting! 2 of 3 ladies toilets were out of order and 1 of 2 sinks were out of order. In the Men's restroom 1 of sinks were out of order. Jacob, one of managers on duty stated the sinks were not working because the faucets need batteries to auto start. No reason for toilet problems. Do they know there are plumbing services available after hours available for an extremely busy restaurants. It was just GROSS! And STEAKS arrived at the table not Hot, as a matter of fact all 4 steaks the butter dollop on top would not melt! No one wants a barely warm Filet. The green beans also were not hot. Jacob brought new steaks to table without so much as an apology. Our waiter Dillon followed procedure for his customers by retrieving management to rescue our experience. Dillon was a great waiter, he was extremely busy and very personable. Before leaving the manager on duty, Sam,came to our table to offer his apologies and encouraged our return to give them another chance to prepare our steaks and vegetables as they should be. Thank you Sam and Dillon. The only hot item was the side of mushrooms and those were not brought back to the table when Jacob returned our steaks. Unfortunately the customer service that met us, initially, was not very pleasant. When we sat at our table, we asked to be moved to a table 10 feet away with more legroom. The hostess gave us a rude look and proceeded to move us. We've been to this steak house before, and have never been treated this way. The rest of the evening was very nice. Our food was good and the waiter was excellent. The chicken fried steak was cooked well, but a little over breaded. My wife had the steak and shrimp and was very pleased. Well, decided to give Landry's chain restaurant another chance, they usually are not very good. Anyway, drinks were good but pricey. Waiter seemed to be new and forgot to bring waters for us and bread, had to be reminded several times. Food was okay but baked potato was small and sweet potato fries were undercooked. Husband went to bathroom and said a waiter ran in while he was there and threw up in a trash can! Gross! And he caught a glimpse of kitchen on the way back to table and said kitchen floor was disgusting!Typically, we just don't frequent the Landry's chain of restaurants and this was just another reminder of why we pass them up. Maybe before the butcher-trimmed & before cooked) I was disappointed how "not-thick" it was; the perimeter-fat was nicely charred but most of the flavor came from the large-glob of melting butter on top _ (they need to ask-first about that !). Ceasar salad is overly bland ( isn't Fertitta Italian?); House-bread was unimpressive _ (center is undercooked & gommy?sp?), The good : Spinach-Dip & Herb-rice, (bar happy-hour) We (early-birds) sat at the bar (recomended); no waiting. Had a great experience here. Our server Leah was exceptional. She is very patient and helpful. My father had trouble on what he'd like to eat and she guided him to a delicious meal he quite enjoyed. She also was helpful in steering me away from a dish with meat in it after she found out I was vegetarian. I highly recommend her if you decide to go here. read more

As an ex-waitress, I forgive most shortcomings, especially at large chain restaurants. However, when you can't train your staff to enter the correct left tip amount, this is where I get ticked off. Let me start off by saying the food ordered was fine. Mine was great (there were 3 other people at my table). But just before finishing dessert, another waiter (not ours) was loading plates onto a tray just behind us and spilled a dressing cup full of thousand island dressing ALL OVER my husband's back and onto my foot. I only noticed it happened because it hit my foot then I saw the splatter all over the back of his shirt. The waiter disappeared (without telling us that he'd spilled on him) and reappeared with club soda and a towel. I cleaned him up while the waiter offered a free dessert, which my husband accepted. All of this I didn't think twice about (mostly because it wasn't MY shirt, sorry hubby) but I get my credit card statement today, and they did NOT charge me the correct tip amount. I have one of those sicknesses where the total plus the tip have to equal a whole dollar amount. They charged my card for $1.72 more than I wrote down and signed for. What was the point of having me sign the receipt if you were going to charge whatever tip you wanted? Although it chapped my ass, I didn't feel it was worth fighting over $1.72. That said, I will probably never ever dine at this restaurant again. I'm new to the area and there is plenty else to try. read more

The salmon Oscar is seriously the best plate of food I've had in a really long time. I was also recommended the new blackberry bramble which was delightful and not too sweet which I prefer. The seasonal pecan pie bread pudding was HUGE and so rich. Everything was delightful, rarely am I happy with everything on the table, but Saltgrass never disappoints!!! read more

My family and I had the worst experience at Saltgrass Steak House in Webster, TX last night. We had guests in from out of town and were trying to take them out for a nice dinner. When we arrived we were told it would be a 30-45 minute wait. No problem. After 35 minutes the hostess approached us and informed us that somehow we were not added to the wait list at all. She said she had no idea how this happened. There was no apology, but instead she had a bit of an attitude. She said she had no idea how long we would have to wait now. We spoke to the manager, and were told we would get a table that was almost finished eating. The hostess then proceeded to seat 2 other large groups ahead of us, one of which had only been there 20 minutes. We had now been waiting for 55 minutes. She showed absolutely no interest in making the situation right and was very rude. We decided at this point they were not interested in serving our family and began to leave. This rude young girl they had for a hostess was cold as she relayed the message over her radio, "I think they are leaving" for all of us to hear. I told her "that's messed up" and she just looked at me with her "I don't care" attitude. We will never eat at Saltgrass again. I know it doesn't make a difference to them, but it sure does to us. read more

I order a 12oz steak and literary it only comes with the steak no sides or anything the flavour was awesome but you had to pay extra for any sides. I am a true beef eater and I absolutely love steak. I decided to go to Saltgrass after so many of my friends recommended it on Facebook. I was pleasantly surprised it looks like a traditional steakhouse in the inside. I ordered the porterhouse steak which has a little bit more expensive than the T Bone but very well worth the cost. they are cooking style is very true to cooking descriptions, if you like your steak "well" it is cooked exactly the way it should be, it is not dry and hard. It is still moist and it has just the right amount of chrisp on the outer edges. They also serve an excellent flavorful jasmine rice I truly recommend it. read more

We just want to give a HUGE shoutout to Saltgrass in Webster, and Manager Joe!!!! Our church in Friendswood had significant damage from Hurricane Harvey, and we did not think that we were going to be able to have service this Sunday in our building. I called Joe, and he told us that they would help us anyway they could and that we could meet there and have a "devotional" time at 10:30, even before they open. We told him we would ask everyone to stay for lunch as a thank you to Saltgrass. So we knew we had a place to have church on Sunday. But God is wonderful and we had a huge group come in on Saturday and they helped us tear out the damage and get things cleaned up enough for Sunday. So we are having church in our own building!
