Came here for a business lunch with a co-worker. We were waiting for a business meeting to start, but we were about 1hr early, so we decided to get some lunch here and, boy oh boy, were we not disappointed. We had the pleasure of dealing with two wonderful Servers (One vet & the other one in-training) and they were just so genuinely nice. I can really appreciate a sincere & genuinely polite attitude from a Server, it's really a rarity nowadays it seems. The food was top notch, although I wasn't a huge fan of their stuffed sweet potato (I've had it better elsewhere), but the steak was absolutely remarkable. I got a 12oz. Ribeye. Just do yourself a favor and get the biggest one you can get, it's crazy good. I enjoyed it Medium-Rare. No salt or steak sauce needed. It is freakin' perfect. The Range Rattlers™ are Holy S**t good. Shrimp stuffed Jalapeño poppers? Yes, please! If you like spicy creamy things and shrimp, this is a must-try, for sure. The decorations are nice. I really like some of the old metal signs hanging up, they add some nice touches to the place, although a few of them seem a tad out of place, but no biggie, you're not here to look at art and it's nothing that will pull your attention very much, which makes this a great place to eat with a date or co-workers, as the ambience is casual and not trying ti impress. Saltgrass never disappoints! Today is a great example on why. Our server, Mike, had the best attitude when greeting us and even made us laugh within the first minute of talking to us. My boyfriend ordered the Southwest steak and shrimp and I ordered just a cup of baked potato soup. He asked if I wanted my soup to come out with my boyfriends food or with his soup as well. When we received our dinner, we began to talk again, resulting in my boyfriend not cutting into his meat and reviewing how he ordered it (medium rare). After a while, he finally cut into it and realized it was well done. For me working in a restaurant, my boyfriend is very considerate of other servers and didn't want to make a big deal and decided to just eat it. After he tried to manage eating a few bites, he just couldn't eat it. Our server then came to ask how everything was tasting and my boyfriend then explained to him about his steak. He took it back with no questions asked and immediately brought it to a manager's attention. The manager, Kim, then came to our table and asked if everything was okay and asked if my boyfriend wanted anything else to eat while we waited for them to cook a brand new one. My wife and I have been here about three times although this is my first check in here! We love this place when we're in the mood for steak away from home although we'd like to leave the kids behind! They have great appetizers and we have had the Range Rattlers. These are jalapeños stuffed with shrimp and cheese and deep fried kind of like a cheese of ball only better! They also bring a bread to your table made with Shiner Bock beer! The salads are great that come with your dinner. This last trip my wife and I ordered the Ribeye steaks. I ordered the big one and she the smaller one. We order or steaks cooked medium rare because I can't stand to see a great steak cooked overdone and comes out like shoe leather!!!! They also add blue cheese butter to their steaks when their brought out which reminds me a little of the great Peter Luger's Steakhouse in NYC!!! Never had Bad experience here with food! My friend, Alex, and I went to our local Saltgrass to try out their options for gluten free burgers. When we got there, after looking at the menu, we decided on splitting the 17oz T-Bone steak. It came with a salad, and one side... So we got the Caesar salad and a baked potato. I ordered the steak medium rare and it came out a bit more "rare" than we expected, but it was still very tasty. I will mention that there is gluten free bread available upon request, though I think it is just the gluten free hamburger buns heated up and served with butter. Normally, I have a great experience here, but tonight worked against me. Family night out and it begins with a very dirty and unwashed plate set in front of me. My husband and son get clean ones. I ordered the steak salad because I wanted steak, but something lighter this evening. When it came out, it was drenched in so much vinaigrette that I could pour it off if I wanted to. The green beans were missing and I asked my server if it still came with them. She returned with a side of hot green beans, heavily coated in seasoned salt. The salad usually comes with cold blanched ones, no seasoning. I tried to eat them, but part way through, it was picked up by a passing server while I was still eating my salad. I know it was Friday and a popular night for business. This has never stopped great service and food for us before. Went to celebrate two different birthdays on 02/09/18 with two different Landrys membership cards tonight. The restaurant was Not busy but people were slowly filtering in. My wife's entree had cold grilled shrimp and a rare steak after making it very clear to the manager on duty and the waiter to cook the steak "Well Done"! We were also celebrating our anniversary! They offered and prepared a new second entree which came out cold. While waiting for the second entree, we kindly asked for the new second entree to be brought out boxed and ready to go along with the bill. The second entree comes out on a cold dinner plate, like "OK!" Everything is just fine and hunky dory! We are now over an hour to complete dinner. It takes over a second hour to get the bill correct between the waiter, two floor managers and the shift manager. Now we have two different floor managers who have been watching us during the entire evening during both hours ask if they can do anything for us and we "reply the bill please"! No remorse, no apology, no offer of a gift card, no nothing! Restaurant Rating is not even worth 1/1000000000000000000 of a star! read more

I do love me a good steak but Saltgrass is really only good for a decent steak. As a chain they are easy to find throughout the greater Houston area and they have a pretty good variety on their menu. I took some friends from out of town here for lunch before we they had to leave. We went during lunch and I will say they have some good lunch specials. They will still run around $10-$14 a plate but you get a large lunch! I got the sirloin steak medium, it came out more medium well which I should have anticipated when ordering. The steak was covered in garlic butter which was a definite plus! It came with onion straws which had soaked up some of the butter mmmm and I got the sweet potato fries. I'm a big fan of sweet potato fries but I'd ask for them without the honey. There was too much on them and they were too sticky and sweet. Overall, this isn't a bad place to go but not the best steak in town and for the price I'd rather eat at Texas Roadhouse. read more

Came here today for lunch with my usual motley crew. We were seated in front of the fireplace with a view towards the open kitchen or more specifically the prep-area. I ordered the Fried Shrimp with sweet potato fries and my coworkers the Wagon Boss Steak Sirloin. The food wasn't particularly good just the usual Landry's pre-made food but what was the kicker was how the food was prepped. From my table I could see that my Fried Shrimp were put under the heating lamp while waiting for my coworker's Sirloins to get done. The food prepper then proceeded to re-arrange the shrimp as well as grab some fries with his hands and arranging them on what was to be my plate. No tongs not even gloves but bare hands with a big thumb ring that may as well have been a Petri dish for bacteria. Unbelievably they had the nerve and try to serve me this contaminated food. I obviously refused it and gave the manager a lecture on the fact that at the very least he should have been using gloves. While the manager replaced my meal and nipped the situation in the bud by making the prepper wear gloves, I shudder to think what kind of other nasty habits go on behind closed doors. Undoubtedly neither Saltgrass nor Landry's have very high sanitary standards. Never again YUCK! read more

Our waiter had an amazing attitude and seemed like he was happy to be there. Stevens suggestions turned out tasting good. He did forget a few of the items we requested but he was very apologetic and fixed his mistakes immediately. Three stars are for microwaving my steak and shrimp, I asked for medium as did my fiancé. His steak came back perfect, mine was quite raw and if I knew they were going to microwave it, I would have just taken it home and grilled it a few more minutes. When the waitress brought it back to me the plate was "extremely hot". Before the steak was nuked, it was tender and juicy, same for the shrimp, after getting nuked the shrimp was tough, rubbery and the steak was too overdone. I could hardly cut through the meat it was so hard and dry. This was the second Landry location we've visited and I'm beginning to think this Landry card was a bad deal on our part. read more

After taking a few bites of mashed potatoes, I found a black hard something in the mashed potatoes about the size and appearance of dog poop. I pointed it out to the server. He took my plate and showed it to the manager. The manager took it to the kitchen. The manager returned in about 10 minutes, apologized, and asked if I wanted more mashed potatoes! . The shrimp was delicious! The lonely thing about the shrimp was there was not enough. The sweet tea was awesome! It wasn't watered down or lacking the sugar. The service was on point! The waitress was amazing! She was very friendly and attentive to our needs. I love when the servers are smiling and friendly. But it wasn't just our server, there was other servers that help with keeping our glasses filled and bread on the table. They would walk by and ask if we needed more bread or if we needed more drink. It was a team effort. At least two other waiters helped keep us happy. I had two older people with me and they were feeling cold so I asked if they could turn up the air conditioner and they did with no issues. i had a great time and enjoyed my birthday with my family. I have been a fan of saltgrass for many years. But my visit on Saturday evening was terrible. When my party and I arrived, we were told by the hostess that our table would be ready in 15 minutes. After waiting 30 minutes we asked the hostess if she had forgotten about us. She politely told us that the people who were presently using the table we would be using had just ordered desert. About 5 minutes later we saw the hostess get a table ready for a party of seven or so. Mistakenly, we thought we were about to be seated. But another group was seated instead. We asked why the table was given to another party and we were told they were here before us. We all sit in the same waiting area and it was quite plain to see that wasn't the case. We asked to see the manager and then the hostess changed her story and told us that the party who got the table had already been seated but they didn't like their table. When the manager came to talk to us, he was less than helpful. He told us that one of the people in the party that got the table was a saltgrass employee and therefore he got preference over us. I asked him which story was the truth and he did not have an answer. We asked him for his full name and he refused to give us his name. After pressing him he told us his name was Ben, but he refused to give us his last name. I found Ben's answers and demeanor offensive. I jumped on Yelp and found an Outback Steakhouse nearby. I called them and they told me they had a table available. We went to outback and had a great meal with outstanding service.
