Ok let me start by saying that Saltgrass has been by far my favorite restaurant over the years for consistency in food and service. But it is changing. We went a while back and I am still just so upset over it! We went and ordered our usual a Pat's Ribeye for my husband and the Salmon Oscar for me. We get "double salad" and have it with our entree. All the time. Anyway we had server who had a large party going (we were told by another server) on so she basically ignored us. My husband's ribeye was a little tough he said but not enough to complain. The biggest issue was we never received our salads until we finished our entrees (which were, well.... just meat) after asking serval employees and a manager who by the way said he would personall see to it our ticket was adjusted etc....It came time to pay and he had not done squat. We then had to wait more to hunt him down. Later we were offer a free desset or appetizer. Please! For ruining our meal! We had to keep asking and looking for our salads and did not enjoy our meal because of it and you offer us a dessert to people obviously not eating any carbs due to our dietary restractions. I am still so upset with Saltgrass as we are regulars or WERE regulars. No wonder Tilman Fertitta is a billionaire! BTW we ate at a mom and pop place last night which not up to par and even they offered to comp our meals but we declined their offer since we did eat and they were so nice. Third visit as we're regulars now. Down from 4 stars. This experience was less appealing. My complaint would be that they sit you on top of each other, everyone crammed into one section. We asked to sit out in front and the Hostess said the seating was unavailable. The Waiter, after discussing this with him, said no problem sitting out there. We told him what the hostess said and he said he'd look into it. The hostess seated a wedding party right next to us and after a drink or two they were so loud we gave up on our conversation, more or less rushed through the meal to get out of there. The Hostess looked like she was 12 years old so perhaps she didn't know any better. read more

I've always love Saltgrass until now. A group of college students and staff were treated very poorly by management. If you have a group event or party I highly encourage you to look elsewhere. They are extremely disorganized. Corporate needs to come in and clean house. read more

Customer service at Saltgrass (and perhaps Landry's) has gone way downhill. We dined at this location on May 22nd and after waiting at our table with our menus for 15-20 minutes, a server said 'Wow! Y'all have been sitting here a long time" and proceeded to wait on our table. She didn't ask if we were Landry Select members (nor did they in the front), but I mentioned to her that I think they never gave me back my Landry's Select card from when we dined there on Mother's Day. She wrote down my phone number to look up my card # and she said she would ask the manager to check in the back. Service was very slow (even though they were not busy) and when she brought the check I asked her if she gave me credit on my LS card. She said she forgot and then took our bill and disappeared. She was gone for another 15-20 minutes and returned and said the manager yelled at her and that he didn't have time to look for my card and she didn't know how to look up my account. The manager was talking to customers at a nearby table forever and looked over at us sitting there forever and never gave us the time of day. I went online to Landry's website and emailed them to request a new card and I shared our experience and here it is almost a month later and I have not received a replacement card nor apology from Landry's about our horrible service and treatment. I called today and the guy I spoke with (Brian?) was very blunt and said a card will be mailed in 7-10 days. I asked him if they received my email requesting a new card a month ago and also did they receive my concerns. He said they forwarded my concerns to guest relations. I told him that the first sentence of my email requested a new card, and he again bluntly restated I would receive a new card in 7-10 days. No sorry that we screwed up and didn't request a new card for you, or sorry you had to follow up with us to see if we received your email. If this is how Landry's treats their customers they can keep that card and I will take my business elsewhere! read more

We went here on a Saturday evening around 6:30 for dinner. Wait time to be seated: We were seated right away. Food :Meh. Not great. Definitely won't be back for the food. I had the crabcakes (I only ate one of them, did not want to take the other to go) and potato soup, which was definitely different. Fiance had the T-bone, which he said was good, but not $25 good. Service: Meh. The servers were VERY happy, but we waited about 15 minutes to get our drinks. All in all, its another chain restaurant, and we probably won't go back. read more

Interesting variation on one of their former standards: Chicken Tortilla Soup. Spoiler Alert - No tortillas. Apparently it is now a rice, broth, vegetable, chicken, avocado variation of what should be called Mexico City Chicken Soup. It tastes good, but they should really change the name. read more

Saltgrass at Kemah is out of this world!! My husband and I always sit at the bar and eat, drink, and yes.....you guessed it.....SMOKE!! I can't believe that you can smoke at this Saltgrass. The bartenders keep us laughing and they keep those great drinks coming. The view is spectacular and once in a while, you can see the bullet roller-coaster race by. We have visited this location many times before for lunches and dinners, and to us it's pretty consistently 4-5 stars for both service and quality of food. But we're giving it a solid 5-star review this time because of the really terrific service we received from our waitress, Angela. Simply put, she knocked it out of the park! She served our party of seven very attentively and efficiently, and she went more than the extra mile in displaying and serving the cake that we brought in for a special occasion. This location does not measure up to others we have visited in the area. We were seated promptly, but things quickly went downhill from there. The timing was off for the rest of the meal. My wife found aged brown spots in her salad and proceeded to pick the bad parts out. I was surprised she refused the waiter's offer to remake the salad. There was insufficient time to enjoy the appetizer and salad before the entree arrived. The waiter was absent for extended periods. He finally realized he was not checking on us often enough and proceeded to give us a carafe of tea to help ease the pressure of refilling glasses so frequently. Overall, the food was average at best. I doubt we will return to this location. read more

Just had one of the best filets I have ever had! Every bite was perfect! With the baked sweet potato and salad with their balsamic vinagrette dressing, couldn't be better. I've been here a few times, each visit is progressively worse than the previous one. I don't know about you, but nothing says "I don't give a shit" like cold french fries. Which is what I was served with my cheeseburger. It's bad enough they use frozen fries (a steak house ought to use REAL potatoes), but to serve lukewarm fries...that's not good service. Ive had better steaks, even from salt grass. but my potato (loaded) wasent loaded , I had to ask for cheese, the steak was cooked right , but covered with a lot of red salt. (seasoning salt?) all I know is that was just about all I could taste. Im giving them a 3 star rating, because I know they can do better, and have. I still say for the money in this area texas road house has been the best for a ribeye steak. Salt grass seems to be losing its reputation more and more every year, its not Perrys steak house, but sometimes I think that they think they are. Just tried to make a reservation for tomorrow at 4:30 pm for 25-30 people and we were told that we needed to fill out a form, spend a minimum of $875-1000, with a 3% banquet fee and 17% gratuity. I understand the required gratuity however, some family members, children or the elderly, won't spend the required amount. I would love to have been able to use this location for our family dinner but in my opinion there are just too many barriers. Fortunately, another chain restaurant was more than willing to take my money. We often have large family dinners but now we know that Salt Grass is no longer an option. This was a terrible experience. The salad was great but that was it!!! When we got our food it was cold. The shrimp was really small I thought it was popcorn shrimp. It was supposed to be grilled. The shrimp didn't even come with melted butter or cocktail sauce. We had to ask for everything and our server when she did return our food got even colder. We ordered desert and it was a skillet we thought it was going to hot chocolaty with ice cream.., it was so cold the ice cream never did melt we sent it back and it was still cold when we got it... Come to Webster, Texas once a month from Colorado. Always look forward to eating at Salt Grass. Sometimes eating there twice in one trip. After our bad experience last night, will not eat there again. We were seated and ignored by two wait persons. We waited about 10-15 minutes with no service and went to the front and asked to be reseated. We were reseated in a different area. The horrible service continued. Asked for a loaf of bread. Never came. Tea glasses were not refilled. Ordered our meal. I ordered a steak. Didn't come out the way I asked. They had to remake it. My husband finished his meal before I was to get my meal. I don't recommend that you go on a holiday unless you have a perk card. We went on Valentines. After an hour and seeing people go in before us that checked in after us being seated I questioned them. They said it was people with a perk card and they get to be seated first. and i was still number 12 in line. SO that means that every time someone comes in with one of those cards they got to go ahead of me and we might be there till midnight waiting on a seat.. I call to complain today about this early in the morning and still have yet to hear from anyone. I think the cards would be OK on a normal day but give me a break you have got to draw a limit .
