My husband and I came here for dinner. We passed this place numerous times and decided to venture here tonight. Upon entering the parking lot, i noticed that it was small and kind of cramped. There is just enough parking for the amount of space they have inside. We headed to the door to go inside and noticed there were two doors into the building. One door was locked and wasn't able to use. When we entered, we were greeted by staff and seated at a table. The dining room is quite small, there are about 8-9 tables. The tables seat about 6 people to a table. The dining room was clean and spacious. Our server came over immediately and got our drink order. We ordered a Chicago style 14 in pizza with pepperoni and sausage. A chef salad and Toasted ravioli. The check salad was fresh, crisp, and topped with plenty of cheese, tomato and salami, and your choice of dressing. We opted for house Italian. The house Italian was delicious, a little sweet a little tangy, not too oily. The toasted ravioli was seasoned well, cooked to perfection and the marinara sauce was fresh, seasoned well and tasted homemade. The Chicago style pizza was cooked perfectly, soft with a slight crunch. Topping was fresh and racially portioned on every slice. I would like to have had more sauce since it is a thicker crust. Salvage Yard serves both St. Louis and Chicago style pies. Parking is directly behind the strip of stores. On entering, a bar is on the left, and a dining area on the right. There were a few tables already filled, but i could have found a seat if I wanted one. I chose a Chicago Style veggie pizza and a salad. The salad was a good size, and the house Italian was tangy and delicious, but i wish it had more parmesan cheese. I was pleasantly surprised to find the pizza had a crispy crust and was not at all soggy. It was cut well into 8 pieces. The sauce was great as were the toppings. The only reason I might not come in again is that there are too many other pizza restaurants to try, and this one was fairly expensive. I won't say never though! read more

Server was great. Had a fun personality. The kitchen closes at 8, that felt a little strange since we thought closed at 9. They were not rude about it but could tell they wanted to go home. Table ordered wings pizza burgers chicken strips & pickle chips. Pickle chips had a thick breading (not my fave) but if you like alot of breading give em a shot. Wings were good. Wanted a Chicago style pizza and found this spot on Yelp. Let's start with the restaurant that sits off the main road. Parking is on the rear and there appear to be adequate spots available. The staff were friendly and attentive. It was nice and cozy for a bar and grill, not crowded and not empty. Food came out promptly and was hot and fresh. The server was on point and provided exceptional service. The salad was very good and fresh. Not a fan of the ravioli, but the pizza was very good. My only recommendation is to maybe continue puréed tomatoes and/or use less tomatoes on the top. It was overpowering and we had to remove almost half to find the pizza. I ordered carryout via Yelp (powered by Grub Hub) and was given an order number and approximate time for pick up. Upon arrival I learned this restaurant does not accept orders from Grub Hub and stated they notified Grub Hub weeks ago. I reordered my food for carry out and waited at the restaurant while it was prepared. I enjoyed their flavorful BBQ burger, fries and house salad. All were well prepared and flavorful. I am not a St. Lous native. As a result I don't love Imo's style pizza, but instead I've always been a fan of deep dish pizza. For me the thicker the better, I want layers of cheese and toppings. I saw Salvage Yard pop up on a couple lists with good deep dish pizza so decided to check it out. The place isn't that large, it is on the smaller side, but it was serviceable. There is bar seating then a dozen or so tables. The staff was attentive and struck the right balance between checking enough but not being bothersome. I had lunch here with co-workers. We ordered a couple pizzas, appetizers, and some of my colleagues got salads and calzones. The deep dish pizza was decent, not quite as deep as I'd have liked. It was still light years better than thin crust. The general consensus was the rest of the food was fine. nothing particularly outstanding but nothing was bad. The prices were reasonable, and there is a nice happy hour during the week from 2-5. Overall this is a nice neighborhood bar and grill, and a good place to check out if you like pizza in particular. read more

I will say that pizza isn't a thick as Lou Malnatti's, but it's a nice representation of the genre. The ingredients were clearly high quality. We had a group meet at the Salvage Yard for pizza at 6:40 PM Sunday evening. When we arrived there was a sign on the door they would be closing at 7 PM! We talked to the host who said he could fit us in, and we were glad he did! We ordered our pizzas and a couple of side salads and everything was wonderful! We were served right about 7, as we had ordered a Chicago style pizza (great choice) and it took a little longer than the St Louis style due to thicker crust (but still not Chicago thick). It was delicious! Everything was done perfectly, despite stretching the staff a bit to get it done correctly and before closing. They over performed! The thicker crust was crisp, not doughy, it had good flavor and the sauce was rich not sweet, which is my favorite. They gave us time to eat, we took boxes home and will eat again tonight to savor the flavor. A great shout out to the staff for doing an outstanding job and surprising us! We opted for Boneless wings and the B.O.B. Meat Deluxe pizza. Hubby liked the boneless wings, I'm not a fan of this type with lots of crunchy breading. Pizza was great! We walked in on a Saturday and although they were busy we were able to snag a table. They seem to be a hot spot for take out and have a bar area and a dining area. We were quickly seated and served our drinks. We ordered a coke and Sprite to go with our burgers and the fried pickles. I hate to give Salvage Yard a bad review because I do like them so I'm going with four stars. We went for a Chicago Deep Dish and instead opted for the BOB. The BOB was good and cooked exactly as it's intended just not exactly what we were hoping for which is our mistake. The issue with us this night was the service. We waited for EVERYTHING. This is not that big of a place and there were at least two waiters, there was a lot of socializing among the staff so I think that's most likely what the issue was. At the end of the meal we waited a very long time for our bill, we were ready with card in hand, the waiter took our card and disappeared again.... I used to go to Little Star in San Francisco all the time and enjoyed it very much but now after having Salvage, I would say I enjoy Salvage more.
