I got the Cobb salad, which was delicious. Our group also tried the mahi mahi sandwich and their seasonal August French toast with strawberries and chocolate, which was SO good. I unfortunately can't remember our server's name, but she was amazing! She told us she was actually the inspiration for the seasonal dessert because her birthday is in August. It's sill one of the gems. We started with the wedge salad and cheesy bread. We wanted to get the Filet Mignon and the Prime Cut Ribeye to share them, but they were out of the Filet which was a bit surprising. Instead, we got the Crispy Chicken Piccata. They were both excellent. The fingerlings and asparagus were good and loved the red wine sauce. The crispy chicken was not too heavy, with lemon and an ample arugula salad. I don't remember the name of desert, but it was a combo of a browny with an Oreo cookie layer (which the kid in me couldn't refuse) with a scoop vanilla ice cream. It was great.

I never thought in a million years, after living on this planet for more than 33 years, I'll be here writing about my experience, relating to race in this day and age. But, it happens to me. I want to make sure if anyone with the same skin color as mine wants to go to this establishment, then the least i can do is warn them. On Sunday, November 26th, 2017, about 8:00 P.M (or a bit later), a friend of mine and I decided to go to the Sandbar for some drinks. Not, my idea to go that particular bar, since my friend wanted to go there, I agreed. Boy, did I regret that decision. Anyway, I walked in the main entrance and I was greeted by a Delray Beach Officer and he asked for IDs. Of course, my friend and I obliged to the request and we proceeded to have a seat near the wall, closest to the ocean (east side). When I walked inside the restaurant, I saw at least four (4) waitresses standing by the bar, just a few feet from the main entrance. My friend and I sat down, patiently waiting for someone to approach us, but for some odd reason no one ever did. So, after waiting for more than 20 minutes, I began to look around to see what was going, giving the fact that the restaurant was not that busy. I decided to wait a bit longer, thinking the restaurant staff may have some type of issues that they were trying to resolve. As I waited, I noticed a white couple walked in the restaurant and sat just two tables to my west, about six or seven feet. Immediately upon the couple sat down, a waitress quickly approached them to take their orders. At that point, I got the attention of one of the waitresses that was walking by and I asked how come no one has approached me to take my orders. She replied, I'll get somebody for you. As I was waiting for the waitress to come back, an african american couple that was occupying the table directly to the rear of my table said to me "Look, they did the same thing to me. No one approached us, but they attended to the other white couples. Now, as an African American man, I quickly noticed a pattern. If this incident was a mistake, why it only happens to african american people. On the same night, it happens to the black couple behind me and me and my friend. When one of the waitress finally came back, five minutes later, I politely asked to speak to a manager. My whole intent was to make the manager aware of the situation, so that kind of incident doesn't happen again. The manager, who i can 't remember his name, showed up about five minutes later. The moment I saw him walking towards me, his demeanor, the eyes rolling, I knew he did not want to hear anything I had to say. I'm not an expert in body language, but it was clear to me that he knew what my complaints might entailed. I explained the situation to him anyway. Before, I can finish explaining the situation to him, he yelled "Nice try, playing the race card is not going to work on me." He then slammed his fist on the table and waled away. My friend and I got up and began to exit the establishment, when I saw him chatting with another person, as if the whole situation was a joke to him. I approached him and I asked him if I can get his supervisor's name. He went off on me, yelling and screaming at me, calling me a drunk, asking me what do I do for a living, who's my boss. He then called the officer and threatened to trespass/ban me from the restaurant. Other patrons in the restaurant was in disbelief as they witnessed the MANAGER of the store, acting in that manner. The officer that was there, noticed what was going, he approached me and asked to hear my side. I spoke to the officer for a few minutes and then I left. From the beginning to the end, I felt this was something that either that establishment encourage or that particular crew with that manager agreed to do. I lived right on the edge of Delray, my whole family live in Delray, my friends lived in Delray. For anyone or business to think that they can encourage that kind of racist behavior and get away with it, they have another thing coming. as an Haitian American, if that kind of place is till exists and the City of Riviera Beach allowed that kind of place to operate within the city, then the least they can do is put that sign "NO BLACKS ALLOWED". that way we can deal with that establishment properly. It seems to me, lately people are more open to being separatist. But, I'll be damn to ignore such disgrace so close to home. read more

There are situations that arise when people are mistreated so badly, that you cannot help but complain. We attended this beautiful establishment with the hopes of finishing off an otherwise great evening last Friday in Delray. Instead, because of a "roided" out manager and his desire to fulfill his dream of being on Cops, we were treated like criminals and shown the door. Never in my life have I seen such a lack of respect for a customer. The misunderstanding and subsequent mistreatment of our party was so vile that I cannot help but hope that the parties responsible are fired immediately. Here is the skinny; our wives went to grab us drinks. Evidently, Friday is "Ladies Night"(starts at 9pm) at this little bar. Sooo, our gorgeous wives returned with drinks in "Ladies" red solo cups. OMG! The humanity!!! After being told by a 5'2" ex-wrestler at Nowhere High that this was forbidden in the Land Of Sandbar, I was forced to hand my little red solo Ladies cup to my best friends wife. She decided to hand me her drink, which was purchased at 8:59 and dispensed into a "normal" clear cup. (stay with me guys!). Because my drink was a straight vodka, she did not find it appealing . She then poured her drink into a red cup, and mine into a clear cup. Noooooooooo! What horrible people we are! Then a "roided" out Mike Miller and his little friend , literally snatched drinks from our wives and ordered us (with Police escort) to leave the confines of this glorious bar o' Sand. Try as I might to pay the difference of the little drinks with interest and swear fealty the knightly code of Ladies Night, we were physically pushed out into the night. As a man of reason, I tried to diffuse the situation and explain that no real crime had been committed and that we were in fact gainfully employed, taxpaying Red blooded, Americans; Rambo and little Webster had already gone on full blown attack mode. Words were exchanged, some not suitable for children. We left angry, thirsty, and disillusioned with the future of society at large. We went and dropped a lot of money at a lesser bar, where vigilantes such as us were treated as humans. I still cannot believe they thwarted our Master Plan to drink from little red Solo cups, made for women at rock bottom prices. May the Sandbar wash away during the off season. Godspeed. read more

Horrible experience. On vacation in Delray with my girlfriend and it just so happened to be Valentine's Day, we walk into the establishment around 8-9pm so kind of early for us nonetheless they already have a guy checking id's at the door. An older fellow maybe in his late 60's ask for id's with a rather smug look on his face so I ask him if he's having a good night, he surprisingly said no with an attitude. I brushed it off and said I hope it gets better, he then proceeds to look directly at me and tell me that our drivers licenses are fake. Now granted me and my girlfriend are both 28 we do look young and expect to be carded at bars. The issue is that he first read mine back to me incorrectly stating a year that is not actually what is on it, I correct him and he says ok. Then still says but hers is fake yall cannot come in. He says he will go get his boss but it's not likely they will allow us inside. Now I'm a bit taken back because we were very polite to this gentleman and our drivers licenses are not made of paper they are hard licenses from the dmv, even with holograms and our pictures so I'm not sure where he learned to spot fakes but I used to do front door security and if he truly thought they were fake he should've kept them but he gave them back to us (I found this odd and assumed maybe there was another reason for his telling us we can't come in). Regardless he denies me when I ask for his boss and forces us to leave while actually cursing and yelling due to me also being upset because he couldn't even read mine correctly. Would not recommend this place to any young people. The kicker is that the place was dead on Valentine's Day and we were trying to find something lowkey and hopefully bring some business as our friends were meeting us later. A public accommodation must modify its policies, practices, and procedures to permit use of a service animal by an individual with a disability. (3) An individual with a disability has the right to be accompanied by a service animal in all areas of a public accommodation that the public or customers are normally permitted to occupy. (b) Documentation that the service animal is trained is not a precondition for providing service to an individual accompanied by a service animal. A public accommodation may not ask about the nature or extent of an individual's disability. (4) Any person, firm, or corporation, or the agent of any person, firm, or corporation, who denies or interferes with admittance to, or enjoyment of, a public accommodation or, with regard to a public accommodation, otherwise interferes with the rights of an individual with a disability or the trainer of a service animal while engaged in the training of such an animal pursuant to subsection (8), commits a misdemeanor of the second degree, punishable as provided in s. 775.082 or s. 775.083 and must perform 30 hours of community service for an organization that serves individuals with disabilities, or for another entity or organization at the discretion of the court, to be completed in not more than 6 months. read more

absolutely appalled by my experience at this restaurant. Under the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), service animals are legally allowed to accompany individuals with disabilities in all public areas. However, this establishment refused to accept my service dog, humiliating me in the process. Rather than accommodating my legally protected rights, the staff chastised me, questioned my disability, and made me feel inadequate in a public setting. This is not just a poor business practice--it is a direct violation of federal law. To clarify: Service animals are NOT pets; they are trained to perform essential tasks for individuals with disabilities. No business has the right to demand documentation, ask intrusive questions, or deny access based on ignorance of the law. The ADA mandates that service animals must be allowed in all areas where the public is permitted. This restaurant ought to be sued for its blatant discrimination. I hope management educates itself on ADA compliance before they find themselves facing legal action. No person should have to experience such public embarrassment for simply existing with a disability. I strongly urge others with service animals to take their business elsewhere until this establishment properly trains its staff and complies with the law. ok im Hispanic . and I am a fluent speaker of Spanish the waitress was speaking with a Hispanic accent so I stared speaking Spanish. she didn't speak anything se just looked at me weird and sad were in America so speak American. yea ok so me and my dad ordered some beers no big deal all went well there. then after 2 beers we got some carnetas tacos ok in Mexico Cuba that means pea to small grape sizes peace's of pork and about 1/2 of a hotdog of meat in weight.. we only got 1/4 of a hotdog in all 6 tacos COMBINED. we did not eat them we sent them back in ..... 30 minute later they come back now with 1 hot dog weight of meat on each of them... good I bite into one of the taco's it was OLD NASTY DISCUSTING PORK that tasted ROTTON and worst of all its soaked in ranch dressing. I frequent the Sandbar and have to say it is great except for the music. They play Miami club music mid week when the average age is 50 !!!! I was just there on a Thursday and the DJ started at 5 pm and cleared 1/2 the crowd out in a 1/2 hr.(not the 1st time , it is typical of a Thursday) I understand on the weekend it is elbow to elbow with a great younger crowd 25 to 35 and that is the music they want to here but mid week 6 yrs later guess what the kids are not coming in mid week ! I have many friends who will not go because they hate the music??? You could probably increase mid week business by 50 % if you just played more palatable music. When I left today I commented to the DJ "Great job you cleared out the place !!" He said thanks , did not care??? I have mentioned it to the mgr could care less. The location is fantastic. That's all that's fantastic. The service at the bar is non existent. We sat down for drinks and there were no prices. I wish I could run my business that way. Go ahead and get what you want- I'll send you the bill which will be high. One girl behind the bar did nothing but pace & never even noticed that we sat down. Finally the other one came over after about 5 minutes and seemed shocked that we wanted drinks. I guess because they wear small outfits they can ignore customers. Has to be worst experience ever. I went with my nephew and he is visiting from Michigan. We brought our service dog. He reminds him to take medication. The GM threw us out. And night nicely. He just said go somewhere else. I reminded him it's a second degree misdemeanor and he said I don't care. I wonder why someone who owns a bar would hire such an idiot? He was overaeight and cranky, mad at the world and takes it out on everyone else. Karma is a bitch sandbar. Already contacted my attorney. Sad. All the staff are misogynists. What are they afraid of? What are they running from? Who hurt them. No but for real, we've had unpleasant experiences with the bouncers. Easily one of my favorite places to spend my Saturdays or Sundays when the weather is nice! Sandbar is right across from the beach, always has incredible music, a tiki bar that makes great drinks, and an atmosphere covered in sand to give it a really beachy feel! Small menu when it comes to food but the food is excellent- I highly recommend the conch fritters! This is a place I like to spend ALL DAY at- it is literally THAT FUN!!! The "manager" should brush up on his ADA laws. Just witnessed a nice young female with her service dog (a mellow looking retriever) be denied enters. To top it off I overheard them ask the young woman what her disability was!!!!! Not to mention the manager then touched the young woman's face as if to comfort her. I almost walked right up to the guy and deck him.. to think he's the manager of this place?! Never coming back here ever. read more

Misogynist as heck. they denied 7 women (above 21) entry because they thought our REAL ID's were fake. Forced us to call the cops, and spat on us when we were communicating with the cops. Told us they would not accept our service, and claimed it was because we were "cursing." All we asked was that they scanned our REAL IDs. Overall, felt very unsafe and ridiculed by the sexist and rude MALE staff. read more

Thier have discriminated the disabled on a number of occasions. They are violating Federal Law: Individuals who believe that they have been illegally denied access or service because they use service animals may file a complaint with the U.S. Department of Justice. Individuals also have the right to file a private lawsuit in Federal court charging the entity with discrimination under the ADA. read more

Managenent is the worst I've ever seen. These two male managers were so disrespectful to my girlfriends and I. There was a UFC fighter at the bar who punched a girl in the face.. these guys did not do a thing about it. I personally had to call the cops to get help. This bar is absolutely horrible. The people who run this bar think it's okay to manhandle women. I watched the GM shove my friend off the dance floor and he has 150 lbs on her. I would never recommend this place to someone looking to have a fun, safe time in a welcoming environment. read more

Their was some political talk goign on and a small aroma, maybe the bar mats, but I was about done waiting. I'm sure I'll give it another shot sometime, as this trip was a strike out as I finally left.
