Great spot that's right across the street from the beach. It's a good size and is literally a "sand" bar with sand scattered on the floor. There's a bunch of different seating options either by the bar, some lounge seats, tables and even some chairs to recline by a little fountain to get your feet wet. Service wasn't bad and they do ID at the door. I came during the day on a Saturday and we got two mojito pitchers which came out to $50 which I think was a little steep. I've had better but my expectations weren't that high. The burger sliders were good and so was the shrimp. This is my second visit here, with both visits in the afternoon and during the work week. The drinks are cold and the food is okay. The most important part is the feeling of being on vacation. I listened to tropical music under a large tiki hut. I typically stick with beer, but this place has many tropical drinks to choose from. They have two large TV's with sports on. The barkeepers did an okay job of checking in on me and the others at the bar. I did have to flag them down initially as they walked by three times with no acknowledgement, but service improved after that. They also charged me for a more expensive beer, which they fixed after I pointed it out to them. You'd be well served to monitor your tab. This place is not in a hurry. The vibe is relaxed, at least in the afternoon hours. I can't yet speak to the evening hours. I'll certainly return. This place was much needed in Delray Beach!! Only problem is finding parking!! It took us 45mins to find a parking space. It is a pain in the butt. It would be great is there was parking lot just for sandbar. Walking in there is security waiting to ID you. Which I think is perfect. No kids running around and underage drinkers. It is first come first serve. You have to seat yourself. It can get a little crowded. We were lucky to find a table right away but it was not covered so the sun was burning us up. It got too hot! However, if you find a table under an umbrella or shade you are lucky!! They have a full bar on the right and center with lots of shade. There is plenty of seating around the bars. Our waitress is very attentive and made sure our drinks were always full. We decided to have lunch here. I ordered the Big Kahuna Burger it came with lettuce, tomato, onion, your cheddar cheese. A side of house fries. It was delicious. My boyfriend ordered the mahi mahi sandwich and he loved it. For drinks I ordered the Spicy Mango Mojito- Oakheart Spiced Rum, mango. It was delicious. We've been to Boston next door many times and always loved it. The Sand Bar by the same owner was a big disappointment. Food was good but not as good and more greasy. We ordered a large pitcher of a mixed pineapple drink. We told the waitress when we started drinking it that we tasted zero alcohol and she said its sweet and we would realize it as we drank it. Welll. Long story short, I am a total light weight and non of us felt any of the alcohol. Cute outdoor bar in a great location with terrible parking, mediocre drinks, food and service. They have a cornhole game which is nice so you don't sit at the table the whole time you're there. They need more games to play. Dart board? Ring toss? The crowd is young and they play techno music but some nights, they play 90's rock. The fish dip and peel and eat shrimp are pretty good. Other stuff are not. Service isn't very good. The waitresses mostly seem like you're bothering them and rarely check on you. The Sandbar became a destination, at he expense of Boston's. The Sandbar was a fun spot with good food (but pricey, which is ok if your getting good service). Now it's soley for 20 something's, which is ok because we are immature for our age. But our waitress seemed annoyed she had to wait on an older couple. After 20 years of coming to this establishment and bringing family and friends here, I'm not a fan any longer. It's nothing but a pick up joint (as our waitress was more interested in flirting with younger people). My girlfriend and I come here (used to, never coming back after this experience) regularly. Today, I Came here with a party of 7, ended up waiting 15-20 minutes before getting any service. In fact I had to go ask if we could get served. Ended up ordering two pitchers of mojitos. The "mojitos" were not even close to mojitos, like they were literally yellow and tasted like lemonade. No mint, lime, or sugarcane. Didn't drink the pitcher and asked if we could get a new one, waiter said that's how they do them now because of new regulations (something like they couldn't use fresh fruits??)? Ok, whatever. Asked if we could be refunded as that's not a mojito and that's what we wanted. Manager with a red beard and glasses came up super tense and like he was ready to argue, you could hear it in his voice, not one bit concerned with our experience. Said that just because we didn't like the taste didn't mean we could get a refund. Understandable, but we got served something completely different then a mojito (he even confirmed they made it without proper ingredients!!). Completely unapologetic and Still refused to give refund and instead gave us $12 discount even though the pitcher was $30? In between this whole ordeal, the waitress never checked in, apologized, and when we asked to close out took 15+ minutes to give our check... on top of that they had the audacity to slap on a mandatory 18% charge!!! After we saw, we asked if that changed to a custom tip amount as we did not want to tip 18% due the terrible service/experience. She then had the balls to ask what was wrong with the service we experienced?? And then when we told her and let her know that she didn't do a good job she started to cry!!!! Went here today. Was seated directly in the sun. Asked to be moved because it was hot. We were told several times that they would move us when something opened up. We patiently waited and enjoyed out drinks only to have a manager come up and yell because our table was too close to another table. We told him we never moved it, and we even explained to him that we wanted to be in the shade so why would we move it into the sun... I understand about social distancing and I am more than willing to do my part as a customer to ensure the restaurant and other patrons and safe, but I felt that he was lashing out at us rather than treating us like customers, and based on the brash and rude comments he is leaving on others peoples yelp reviews.. Just went this Monday (Reggae) for their Happy Hour Specials ~ the "Corona Rita's" and Frozen Margaritas. The "Corona Rita's" is a fun concoction of mixing a Frozen Margarita (Tequila) with a constant flow of cold Corona Beer. (sound strange) in a custom drinking apparatus that looks like ... ? ... It does provide for a interesting mixology "taste test" and live entrainment ~ (venue: Mondays at 9:00PM - 1:30AM ~ Featuring Kulcha Shok's Lance O and Rythmation) They had excellent "Finger-Licking-Good" Ginger~Teriyaki Chicken Wings! (yum) They were hot, crispy, crunchy and well marinated in a glazed, sweet Ginger-Teriyaki sauce (excellent) ... add an extra order of Blue Cheese and Celery and your ready to enjoy their sudo ~ "Key West" ~ open air "Chickee" Hut Bar atmosphere. (#Nice Job) You have to get their "Chips and Salsa ~ It was freshly made and had an amazing burst of flavors served with multi-grain tortilla chips... It was my first time here and it was amazing!!!! Met up with some old friends and had a blast. The main bar over by the DJ's area became cramped with it being packed . But i still believe my explanation will fall short of how horrible i was treated while i visited with a party of over 30 people. The host made reservation days early to ensure we could fit a party of at least 30 female motorcyclist and was ensured that parking would be available and a space would be granted. After a long ride (1 hour long) from Miami to Delray... we areive abd get rudely shusshed away by the valet staff. And the knky thing they can say us: "what do u want me to tell you? There is no space!!! Keep in mind, its motorcycles and there were 5 empty parking spaces. When the manager finally showed face and spoke to the host to understand the amount of money they would loose, they decided to accommodate our parking. Now we were on to our second mission: Finding a Table or Space to sit out Large Party. That was an epic fail. Every waitress said: Its self sitting! And walked away without even offering to service us. When the hottest's husband showed up w their baby, he was denied entrance because the location is a "bar" yet there were children at the location. My experience overall was miserable. This location is not motorcycle friwnsly in anyway and its not a family oriented lkcation as the employees are not even polite. I've been to this bar several times over the years during my vacations to Del Ray. I am 26 years old and this time the bouncer REFUSED to accept my valid Florida drivers license- the older bouncer, a gray haired man, said he "didn't like the look of me". I offered to show any of the other cards I had in my name, offered to recite any information on my ID, or scan my ID, but he refused because "fake IDs can scan". He told me he would need to see my passport, which obviously I don't travel with when I'm vacationing 2 hours away from my home. When I asked to speak to the manager, he claimed he was the manager, which I later found out was not true. I was so embarrassed and baffled that I walked away in tears. I've been to Delrey many times, and genuinely enjoy the ambiance of sandbar. The ease of wandering in from off the beach is also a plus. My issue here is that all of the female employees (many of them young) are wearing quite skimpy bikinis, while the male employees walk around wearing board shorts and t-shirts...... doesn't seem super equitable. When we approached the manager to ask why there wasn't more of an equality approach to the uniform she said "it's the beach"...... UMMMM do men not wear bathing suits at the beach? LOL - I could have sworn moments before entering sandbar, I saw topless men at the beach. Not sure what beach she goes to. My point is here though, if you want women to wear skimpy bathing suits and endure tons of attention, some of it definitely inappropriate, have the dudes wearing skimp too. This also makes me concerned there is an inequitable, unsafe power dynamic between the male and female staffThis is 2020. I'm sure it would increase the business from women too. We used to like this place until the he decided he can't tell a real NJ drivers license from a fake one and not only turned away my 23 year old daughter after ogling her but threatened to call the police after she showed additional forms of ID. The bouncers are absolute TRASH and so are the owners. They didn't let my friend in because of her "attitude" after the bouncer kept questioning her real ID. After she was let in by the bouncer the manager entered himself into the conversation and tried to grab my friends arm and question her again , then refused to let her in because she would not let him touch her. Great place to have a drink and quick bite before or after the beach. location is right across from the beach. we stopped by on a saturday afternoon and they had 18.00 pictcher specials and we tried some of the appetizers which were great. Smoked fish dip, chilled peel and ne eat shrimp , roasted pepper hummus and blue Hill chicken. Have never had a bad experience here till receiving awful service from the waitress Lexie . Come here all the time so this was a big let down and disappointment for us . She was extremely impatient and unfriendly the second we sat down . A table nearby warned us of her poor attitude but we figured it couldn't be that bad . Oh it was BAD . She let us know from the beginning to only order from her and not the bar and we agreed, it's common sense to us . I think she misunderstood, and clearly wasn't pAying close enough attention to us to not notice they weren't a part of our table/party . She freaked out and made us cash out since they came over with drinks from the bar (even though they weren't going to stay with us) and threw the check book on the table, literally threw it like a frizbee . Came back over and before taking our payment she stated "you need to get up and leave before I make you leave" so I said ok if you want us up so bad then please take the payment so we can leave the table . She threw an absolute fit to her co workers and made a big scene when we were all genuinely confused considering we were going to spend the rest of our day ordering from her . However, the managers were understanding and I suppose "fixed" the situation and we continued our day ordering from the lovely bartenders . But unfortunately we waited 50 minutes for a waitress to finally serve us after looking at us multiple times throughout that period. When I booked my place to stay by the beach I was very excited to see they had a cool looking beach themed bar right down the street. But when I actually got there I was very disappointed. The ambiance was nice and the waitress we had was a very sweet women. But the music was horrible. If you are looking for a place to hang out and drink and hear good music that is not the place. As soon as my group got there we wanted to leave. The whole bar was completely dead. If they want some business they either need to hire live music (which would be a hit on the beach) or if they can't afford that at least play music to cater to either the younger crowd with newer music or the older crowd with fun 80s - 2000s music. I was at Sandbar enjoying my Sunday afternoon sitting at a table in the shade under an umbrella. A worker abruptly came and closed the umbrella leaving my table in the sun. I then got up to open the umbrella back up to avoid the sun and the worker that closed the umbrella comes over screaming at me that it has to be closed. I then decided to move tables to a table in the shade, the same worker came screaming at my table that we cannot sit there "this table is for paying customers."
