Great bar and atmosphere right across Delray Beach, I went for my first time last Sunday. The music spans all decades from 80s on with some reggae and house mixed in; even the chicken tenders were good. The reason for the negative rating is due to being overcharged on the bill, which I included a picture of. I want to believe it was a mistake or miscommunication between the two separate bartenders I ordered beers from throughout the day. One bartender's name was Desiree and I can't remember the guy's name, but they were each very nice and attentive. At $5 a Dos Equis, my tab prior to food should have came out to $70 for 14 beers ordered between my friend and I. An amount of $110 is $40 and 8 beers more than what was ordered. When leaving I didn't question it and tipped $25, but take pictures of my receipts when splitting with friends. It's a shame because I really do love this bar but would not recommend opening a tab. read more

Disappointed. My wife and I thought this would be a fun tiki bar kind a place. We went in knowing the food choices were limited but thought the beach side atmosphere would have a cool vibe. We ordered a pitcher of a rum drink except they didn't have any pitchers just plastic buckets. The drink came and they must have forgotten to add the rum but maxed it with ice. They may have passed the bottle over it. I mentioned it to our waitress and another worker and they looked at me like "what do you want me to do about it?" No apologies or remedies. Clueless. The two tables on either side were really sketchy dudes who I would not want to meet in a dark alley. Overall the crowd had a dodgy look to it. The food was as expected. Mediocre. Maybe this is a good drinking spot for the under 25 but bypass and spend a little more $ and more enjoyable experience up the street. read more

Perfect place for a quick bite while enjoying the tiki bar atmosphere. Grouper wrap and mahi mahi sandwich were both very good! Service was fast (Samantha was very attentive!) but it is a weekday. I overheard a waitress say that it's much more of a bar atmosphere on the weekends with a DJ and a much more party like atmosphere. It was exactly what we were hoping for as we work our way back to the airport. (Insert sad face). Sand floors, outside seating, reggae music and lots of outdoor seating. I love this place! I've been going here for the last 4 maybe 5 years when I'm in town and I love the vibe. It's chill, breezy, cool, fun....all good stuff! The staffs nice and the drinks go down smooth. There are games to play and music to jam out to...its literally right across from the beach so you can come dressed or in ur bathing suits. I normally don't write bad reviews ever. I love this area I love the Avenue and I used to love the sandbar but today my experience was very upsetting. We spent ALOT of money here within the past 2 days and raved about this place to my mother and aunt who were new to this area. However let me start with some positives the bartenders were great and so were their drinks and food. BUT the service we got from the server was not as great as you could clearly tell she didn't want to even be there or take care of us as much as the bartenders did. I am very disappointed in the way the staff handled the closing time and trying to get everyone to leave. They did do last call at 9pm and we were aware that we had to leave but it was very upsetting to hear one of the employees specially call out only my mother and aunt and telling them they had to leave the place but I was aloud to stay with another girl for whatever reason. They felt discriminated and this was very irritating as the manager didn't even listen to their concerns as to why this made them upset. This was supposed to be a great place to have drinks and food that has now turned into a place that I will NEVER GO TO AGAIN. And from now on I will never rave about this restaurant or refer it to others who are new to the area. I don't recommend coming here since the manger didn't even try to reason with us and understand how we felt in this situation. The employee that insulted my aunt and mother should be dealt with in the appropriate manger as I am a bartender as well and would never treat a quest like this ever. I feel that the manger should have pulled his employee to the side and to tell him he needs to step in the back and talk to us like adults but the situation was not handled properly and we were left with the situation unresolved. Sandbar a place where you get charged for drinks you didn't even order. Don't go here if you want to be over charged! If you look at the reviews everyone gets charged more!! So I decided to go to sandbar last week. I'm a local I go on Atlantic Avenue once or twice a week. My friends were going to sandbar and we decided to meet up with them. We were there for 2 hours. My one friend only had 2 glasses of wine but the server decided to charge her for 4. I got charged for 11 tequila sodas. I complained to the manager and he was the rudest person I've ever met in my life. He's like nope you have to pay it. I said "I would be dead if I drank that many" the cop next to the manager said "you'd be surprised with how much I've seen people drink" I'm only 135 pounds how would I have been able to drink that much. The manager with tattoos should be fired with his lack of customer service skills and this place should be SHUT DOWN for how the over charge people for drinks they didn't have. read more

Fun ambiance with corn hole, plenty of lounge chairs and couches, DJ mixed good transitions and beats (though house/club music is not my style), and the champagne sangria was yum. Our waitress was amazing but I just wish the cups were bigger. They were smaller than solo cups. read more

Didn't make it past te feet inside this establishment before a big old dude came up to my dad and I and said we couldn't come in until I finished the quarter of my Starbucks drink in my hand. The place was dead and we were planning on spending money. He turned away the only business he had all for a Starbucks drink. It's not like I was walking in with my own bottle or vodka. Great atmosphere. Went on a Tuesday afternoon with friends from NH. My husband and I got a free drink with a Yelp check in. Alex was our server and she was friendly and attentive. Tasty burger sliders and great fries. Grouper wrap was tasty, but could have used a bit more fish. I could taste mango in my coleslaw and it was delish. We all were pleased. The Sandbar at Boston's on the Beach was a much anticipated change for the East Atlantic/A1A Happy Hour scene. We were so excited to receive the Facebook update about the Grand Opening. We decided to put our dinner on hold to check it out for a cocktail. It was last Wednesday and it was crowded. We were lucky to snag two seats by the side bar, not under the Hut. Which was fine because the view of the Hut and all of the people having fun was better. We asked the server about Happy Hour (after all, it really was 5:00PM there). She explained that drinks are half price between 5-7 Monday through Friday. PERFECT! A mile from our home and a great place to sink our toes into the sand and have a cocktail after work. We decided to create a Facebook event for that Friday. I invited several of our friends to meet us. I never though I would say this ... but only one friend was available and in hindsight, I was ever so thankful. We arrived at the Sandbar at approximately 6:00PM to find the place only half full. Strange ... Wednesday it was packed. Friday, not so much! Anyway, we sat at the Adirondack chairs and ordered cocktails. Then more cocktails. Then ... I asked to server to bring us one more before the Happy Hour pricing changed ... WHAT?????? She said there is NO Happy Hour. WHAT?????? No Happy Hour???? We explained that were told of this Happy Hour just two days before. She replied, "Yes, that was a one night thing the mnager tried but the Owners don't want Happy Hour outside." She said, the Owners want to fill the inside bar at Boston's with Happy Hour guests. Inside? In South Florida? For Happy Hour? When the ocean is in plain sight and there is sand and a Tiki Hut? So let me get this straight ... the Owner wants people to come off of the beach in bathing suits and cover-ups, sandy and sweaty ... and pile them inside where people are dining? But does not want to entice beachgoers longing for Happy Hour outside to visit the Tiki Bar where their attire is much more acceptable? Our bill for thre rounds for three people was $90.00 with tip ... we will take our Happy Hour elsewhere ...on the Avenue ... Sorry, Sandbar ... now that the snowbirds are leaving ... we hope your plan works ... as locals, we have choices. read more

Here is my review from a late twenties male... This is a beach bar to the fullest extent. Decent bar food, all open air, sand, and beach inspired cocktails. However, this is not a beach bar that's common in other beach towns in the south. This might look like a "margaritaville" themed place - but be prepared to listen to electronic music. Never made any sense to me why this place looks like a key west bar, but plays music as if you're at Mansion in South Beach. Because of this music, you'll get the typical club crowd hanging out here during the day in board shorts showing off their crossfit bodies and sleeve tattoos. Usually that translates into a MAJOR bro fest. Every weekend this place is 80% - 90% dudes. As for girls that are here, very few eye candy to look at if you're single. The majority are trashy or are surrounded by 4 guys at all times. Be warned guys, if you bring a girlfriend here be ready to fight off guys that will buy her drinks, drop pick up lines and flirt from across the bar. Overall, it's a good spot to go with a group of friends to drink near the beach. Wish the place would be more "Margaritaville" and not a Niki Beach filled with losers and club music. read more

I don't know how this place has 3.5 stars. It's beyond belief. Irish bar? Are you kidding me? Tell me one Irish bar that serves chips and salsa, or conch fritters. I'll wait... I regret spending my time and money here. The beer selection was awful. Just run of the mill beers... Again, in no way Irish. When I sat down at the bar, the bartender made an effort to avoid eye contact. She was clearly not interested in serving me. She wasn't overly busy or anything. And even if she was, a quick "Hi, I'll be right with you" would have been fine. Instead, she made it painfully obvious that she was too cool for school. I sat there. Waiting. Wondering if maybe I had died, and was now invisible to the world around me. At this time, a guy came up to the bar next to me. I looked at him, he looked at me, a quick nod was exchanged. Great, I AM alive. We both waited. He left, and there I was again. Waiting. I was just about to leave when she finally came over and asked if I knew what I wanted. I got a Corona and conch fritters. That was the extent of her service. Nothing else. Not a "would you like some water?" or "Anything else?" She spoke all of one sentence. I sat, drinking my beer, watching the baseball game on the T.V. My fritters came out. It wasn't much, and they were not great. They were edible, but that's a low bar to set. Very salty. The sauce they served with it was pretty good, though. DO NOT OPEN A TAB!!!! Used to go to this place every Sunday until one day they rang someone else's drinks on my tab. The bartender who had been serving me had left and when I asked the new bartender for my bill there were over $100 of drinks that were not mine. I told them and asked for the manager. The manager told me "someone has to pay for them" and ran my card. I filed a claim with my credit card company and Boston's countered saying it was a valid charge sending back a credit card receipt with scribble for a signature. I wanted to like this place because it is new and I have been in Delray 35 years, but there were several things preventing this from being a place I will visit anytime soon: 1 - daytime carding to get in the door, on a weekday for no reason in Delray Beach? Seemed a little weird / creepy. 2 - waitresses wear bathing suits and tiny shorts right near your food and drinks. 3 - waitress was rude, interrupted people constantly and seemed preoccupied. 4 - waitress omitted a person's order totally, making our Friday company lunch delayed by an additional 15 minutes. 5 - Tables were dirty but the sat us at them anyway. Prices... absolutely ridiculous. $6.00 for a can of Corona. $13.00 for a mahi sandwich & the food isn't anything more than Sysco or GFS. Very sad. The topping of this was when the bill came for the three of us, an 18% gratuity was already included. You've got to be kidding me. I will go out of my way to warn people of this tourist trap. First time here. visiting from Miami and came to the sand bar with 10 girls for my birthday . This means we are ordering drinks and a ton of food. We order 2 pitchers to start 1 was sangria . The waitress said that it makes 4 drinks per pitcher. The sangria on made 3 drinks we asked the manger megan to give us the missing portion in order to top off and make 4 drinks. She made a huge deal and attempted to argue with us on the measurements instead of fixing it. REDICULOUS and she had a attitude which was painfully obvious. BAD customer service. I've been visiting Delray Beach for years as my Grandparents are local residents. A bar like this is just what they needed! It's such a fun and laid back atmosphere and really attracts crowds of all ages. Can't beat the daily liquor promotions that run all hours! Being from Boston, wanting to watch the Sox game but not wanting to necessarily be stuck inside at their other bar "Boston's", I come here. Came here off the beach on a sunny Saturday looking for drinks and a snack. Music was loud and the vibe was really fun, so we grabbed a drink and wandered around, looking for a seat. I went for the coconut mojito which looked amazing, but the pina colada mix was chunky and that honestly made the drink kind of gross. Found a seat relatively easily, but waited for 30 minutes for service. In those 30 minutes we asked two separate servers if there was a waitress for that section, and both replied that they would send her right over. She never showed up. After a half hour of sitting with empty drinks and no food, we opted to go elsewhere. Seems like a fun place, but hungry with empty drinks isn't very fun to me. read more

Unfortunately, this is the only Tiki bar right on the Delray/Boca/Deerfield and Pompano Beach area so they are getting away with charging South Beach rip off prices as the same level as the Clevenlader in South Beach. A tiny glass of beer is $6 dollars and a drink of the same size is $11. I liked the place and the ambiance but the pricing is a complete rip off and out of control. Once Deerfield Beach or Pompano Beach has a Tiki Bar like this or better with better pricing, I'm very very certain that the days for this place are counted. read more

I ate here a couple weeks ago, and have been meaning to write a review for this place, so here goes... Upon entrance, we were greeted by a man at the door who requested to see our I.D's. I like that it's adults only- no kids is always a plus! I honestly LOVE the beachy atmosphere of this place. Sandy floors, bright colorful furniture, and The wait staff wore swimsuits- which I thought were cute. You can pretty much sit wherever you want. It was fairly packed so we sat at the bar. SO, my biggest issue with Florida in general is feeling "welcome" when I enter an establishment. I pay attention to how I'm being treated compared to others, because I've been treated like shit in a lot of places in SoFlo. But here- that wasn't the case at all. And it honestly felt really nice. We were greeted by the bartender (who really kicked ass, we were watching her put out those drink orders, and our drinks were great too) as well as by another man (perhaps he was a manger? I'm not sure), and another bartender. They were on top of it! The food was good (I had sliders), nothing super amazing but not bad either. I mostly enjoyed our pitcher. Our overall experience was great. Even the other customers were polite. Also want to add that I'm not sure who the DJ was but she played some really great music. Super place to get a drink by the beach and party it up with the 20 somethings! The location, literally a few steps across the street from the beach, is perfect for gearing down or winding up on the weekend. To gear down, perhaps from a day of fun in the sun, look for a table closest to the beach side. The music is less loud, more of an ocean breeze, and a better view for bikini (uhhh people) watching. To wind up, grab you a seat near the DJ, shake that tailfeather (that's right I went there lol), mingle, and play a game of Cornhole. To go along with the cool scenery, the drinks were good and priced reasonably considering the location. Cocktails generally run from $8-$11. During my two visits, I did not order any food. I have heard (so take this with a grain of salt) that the food is hit or miss. I did glance at the menu and "bar food" immediately jogged through my mind. But my 5 star rating is focused on the excellent location and party atmosphere. If you are nearby on the beach during the day, Sandbar is a definite must to check out. Like I said above, awesome place to chill out or pump it up heading into the evening/night. The decor is reminiscent of the name Sandbar. Sand on the floor under a Tiki Bar setting. Waitresses are all bikini clad blending in to the ocean side scene (I'm using the word "blending" loosely here lol). I found the waitresses to be nice and efficient the two times I visited. When looking back on my two visits, I can't speak of any real negatives. So if you are on Delray Beach during the day, stop in Sandbar and turn up or even turn it down! read more

You can't charge country club prices if you're going to have a strip club atmosphere. Sadly, this highly anticipated beach bar has been nothing but a disappointment. I'll be shocked if they last through the year. It's seems like there are a few greedy people behind the scenes not understanding the area. Delray is laid back, dog-friendly (Boston's has a dog menu for crying out loud!), and generally on the lower-end of high-end. Granted, the Ave has some price places, but nowhere that you look at your bill and wonder how many dishes you'll have to wash to pay off a few beers. On Saturday, September 1st, my friend and I were at the Sandbar. As soon as we approached the Sandbar the bouncer (White Male) instantly began making smart remarks towards me. He pointed at me with the following comment, "That little one has to stay outside". My friend and I replied back, "What do you mean? We're all 27 and 28". The bouncer replied back with, "Well she looks like a 12 year old". This guy clearly is very rude and unprofessional and discriminated against me because I look younger than my age. I would of been perfectly fine with him carding me but he didn't even do that. He sent out of his way to be a complete jerk. What's even worse is when I called to speak with the manager, I was told the manager would call me back. It's been 12 days and still no call.
