Have been to sandbar quite a few times living in the area. Drinks are a tad over priced but overall there is good ambiance with the bar being across from the beach, usually crowded, sometimes a DJ, etc. Some friends and I attempted to enter the bar on a Saturday recently and the bouncer working the door was INCREDIBLY rude. He was asking us if we were drunk (we all had maybe 2-3 drinks over a few hours), asked us to stop rolling our eyes at him, kept talking down to us, etc. it was the oddest experience we have ever had. We were still planning on entering, just because this bouncer has a stick up his ass shouldn't effect our time, until he actually told us he didn't want us coming in. I know it sounds unbelievable, trust me, we were very confused, but he turned us away for no reason. Obviously when he asked why we were rolling our eyes we told him we weren't and asked why he was being rude but he seemed to just dislike us for no reason. I think management needs to rethink who they have at the door, and check the employees who have an ego issue. read more

We came here our first day in west palm beach. We were walking down delray beach and came along this place and had to try it! A beach themed bar/restaurant?! How can we say no? It's an outdoor based bar/restaurant with sand on the ground and sun in the sky! Great atmosphere and great service. We had the lobster roll and mahi mahi. They were not cheap on the lobster at all! The roll was stuffed with big juicy lobster meat. The mahi mahi was nice and juicy and big portioned too compared to the bun. The margaritas were delish and not too strong but gave us a nice buzz. This is a outside tiki bar that's on A1A in Boynton Beach, right across the street from the ocean. They have a tiki style bar and plenty of seating around the tiki Bar all covered in sand. With Adirondack chairs and tables to put your food and drink. Along with regular seating. I went on a Saturday around 1:30 pm. And it was already busy but with plenty of places to sit. Nothing at the bar, but plenty of wait staff they was super attentive. They had a live DJ playing and a few games of cornhole playing as well. They was a assortment of people there everything from people in there swimwear and people dressed casual. This is a one of a kind spot if you are looking for a Sunday funday. Located right next to the beach, it provides great views of the ocean and woman..... to go along with refreshing drinks. If I hang out at Delray Beach, I usually like to make this a pit spot before heading home. From experience, it doesn't get packed until about 3 pm and the crowd fades out around 8 pm. It's a relatively younger crowd, which I assume is because of the proximity to FAU. There is a DJ booth in the back corner with a couple sets of corn hole. This place has everything! I went to the beach during the day with my boyfriend and then we decided to stop here for one drink. Needless to say, we ended up staying for several hours! They have a large tiki bar with 2 tvs. We were watching college football. The service was great. Their staff is prompt and friendly. We looked around and noticed they had cornhole and the hook game. We played the hook game for a while. There's also a little fountain spray area that you can sit around and put your feet in. There's tons of seating and a smaller side bar. They have lots of fans to keep you cool during the day. I will definitely be coming here more often! read more

At one point I was a regular at the sandbar. I absolutely enjoy the scenery and the ambiance. Their workers are very friendly. It would be nice to see more of a diversity of women and body sizes but to each his own! I love their daily specials esp the Thursday half off drinks. And I love their smoked fish dip as well as the conch fritters (which to me is one of those meals that I've been disappointed with at many restaurants). It's definitely a very touristy place so when it's not a holiday or summer vacation time that's the best time to go because it is over packed with people of vacation or college students. Not a fan of the weird bouncers/security staff, but this place was cool. It was right across from the beach and since we came on a Saturday, they had $19 pitchers of Sangria. We ordered one of them, and then received a free one from the bartendar after she screwed up somebody's order (YAYY) It was a good time people watching and met my expectations. Do not come here if you have any self respect and wish to avoid childish men who act big and tough because they have control on who can enter. We had passed the Sandbar earlier in the day while shopping. Came back about 8:10 P.M. Walked in and passed three female waitresses and another male waiter. Sat at a table clearly marked "waitress service only". After eight minutes I began looking around and the foursome hadn't moved. Based on their body language they were having a gripe session about something and too busy too notice us. My wife was ready to leave and didn't want to give them another chance so we walked out and went next door to Boston's. They had a concierge at the door who greeted us immediately and warmly. I came here during spring break and it was awesome! The atmosphere is very Beach and casual in some areas, and more hyped up in others. It's literally right across the street from the beach, so it's a perfect way to end your beach day. The drinks were a bit watered down but that's to be expected. The only reason this gets docked a star is because 1/3 bartenders I dealt with was RUDE beyond belief. Luckily the others were fine, albeit inconsistent. Plastic everything!!! We were on the beach and found this great bar just across the street from the beach. Wonderful service, food and great drinks. However they serve 90% of everything in or on plastic. Straws, cups and plates all plastic. It's amazing how they throw everything in the garbage and wash practically nothing. Just steps from the beach and they just don't care. I found out the are owned by or associated with MARRIOTT and from what one of the managers told me there was that they are only sales and PROFIT driven which is understandable but not to care about the environment or about keeping the beaches clean and free of plastics is not smart long term. We will not be returning and we will be spreading the word to others to stay clear if this place until they STOP serving plastic straws, cups and plates that are thrown out after being used only one time. This is one of the worst experiences of my life. My 6 girlfriends and I went here as one of our first stops of the night, practically sober. We are all of age, 22,23,25. The bouncer detained us and claimed an id was fake and confiscated. It wasn't until we called the cops they gave the IDs back and just asked us to leave. We said ok and waited for the cops who verified the reality. The bouncers SPIT on us! Multiple patrons were disturbed and left. We got here with fairly tepid expectations, expecting an average tourist beach bar experience. But we were pleasantly surprised by the service and quality of the drinks and food. Music was playing, but not too loud to talk over. There was a decent crowd for an overcast Sunday afternoon; I'd say the place was 1/3-1/2 full. Local PD was working security, but looked really bored (which is always good thing in that situation). Our waitress and our bartender (we moved seats a couple times dodging weather) were both very prompt and helpful. Drinks never stayed empty more than a minute. My Sunday special bloody marys had much better flavor that I would expect for the $5 special. We had a few appetizers, and they arrived from the kitchen in spectacular time. Our pound of peel & eat shrimp was a *generous* pound of freshly cooked, well-seasoned large shrimp. The pita points with the fish dip were addictive in their own right, but the dip was also very tasty. The drink prices, aside from the daily specials, were a little painful- back to the tourist beach bar vibe- but the service and quality of everything made that easy to handle. read more

A terrible experience I will never forget. I came with a group of 7 women above the age of 21. 3/7 REAL IDs were confiscated and they were told to call the cops if they wanted them back. Cops were called, and the now- threatened bouncer handed IDs back and told the whole party we were denied of services. Great bar and atmosphere right across Delray Beach, I went for my first time last Sunday. The music spans all decades from 80s on with some reggae and house mixed in; even the chicken tenders were good. The reason for the negative rating is due to being overcharged on the bill, which I included a picture of. I want to believe it was a mistake or miscommunication between the two separate bartenders I ordered beers from throughout the day. One bartender's name was Desiree and I can't remember the guy's name, but they were each very nice and attentive. At $5 a Dos Equis, my tab prior to food should have came out to $70 for 14 beers ordered between my friend and I. An amount of $110 is $40 and 8 beers more than what was ordered. When leaving I didn't question it and tipped $25, but take pictures of my receipts when splitting with friends. It's a shame because I really do love this bar but would not recommend opening a tab. read more

Disappointed. My wife and I thought this would be a fun tiki bar kind a place. We went in knowing the food choices were limited but thought the beach side atmosphere would have a cool vibe. We ordered a pitcher of a rum drink except they didn't have any pitchers just plastic buckets. The drink came and they must have forgotten to add the rum but maxed it with ice. They may have passed the bottle over it. I mentioned it to our waitress and another worker and they looked at me like "what do you want me to do about it?" No apologies or remedies. Clueless. The two tables on either side were really sketchy dudes who I would not want to meet in a dark alley. Overall the crowd had a dodgy look to it. The food was as expected. Mediocre.
