We were in the area during a vacation and looking for food we could easily bring to an amusement park, and banh mi fit the bill. As for the food, we ordered grilled pork and grilled chicken. Personally we would have liked the carrots to be pickled more and the grilled meat to have more lemongrass taste but those were personal preferences. They were fresh otherwise. We also ordered an egg banh mi without any veggies for our kid and she liked that. What made this visit memorable was how very kind and generous the owner was. After ordering, they gave us complementary two cups of jasmine tea and some treats for our kid. When he brought out the order to our car, he gave extra croissants with cranberries for desserts and also a big plushie as a Christmas gift for our daughter. We came for 3 sandwiches and left with so much more. He's probably the most generous business owner we came across so far. We wish him the very best and hopefully his business continues to prosper. 3-ish stars rounded up. A bit torn on this one because the shopkeeper is quite generous lol (complimentary iced jasmine tea, Kopiko coffee candies, and even pastries for me and my sister). However, not a big fan of the banh mi here. Baguette had no crisp and had a really tough chew. Grilled pork was pretty salty. Very skimpy on the pickled veggies and heavy on the mayo, so much that some of the paper wrapping was oil-slicked. As a positive I did like the pate used in the house special; noticeable amount in the sandwich and it was quite tasty. Another positive is the iced (Vietnamese) coffee served here. Tried-and-true delicious; very rich coffee roast flavor, just how I like my Vietnamese coffee. Highly recommend calling ahead your order otherwise after ordering in-person you have to wait in your car until the shopkeeper brings your order out to you (no lingering allowed inside of the shop as the shop is very tiny). read more

First time customer here! We got their House Special and Grilled Pork. The bread was super crunchy and soft and I appreciated the amount of pate they put in it. I feel like other places give a little less. It wasn't dry at all which was great and there's definitely enough fillings of the pickled veggies inside. Every bite had a little bit of everything! I always call in my order ahead and it's usually the Sandwich house #1 : mayonnaise, pickled carrots with daikon, cucumber, jalapeño slices, cilantro, pork meat loaf, French style ham and a generous slathering of pate; available in a fresh French baguette roll or croissant. Also get the Vietnamese coffee (what is in there? It's so goo) and Jasmine tea (this is unsweetened) . The gentleman and his partner are always very polite, acknowledging you as you arrive and then delivering your order to the car. Each time I leave with more than I paid for: one time it was a large bowl of cut up fruit, this last time was a fresh made loaf of raisin bread. I found this small shop which is right across from Cypress College entrance. I got myself Chicken sandwich and it was delicious crunchy and something different and flavorful. They add onions to the sandwiches here which is different from most other banh mi places, however, this elevated the sandwich by a lot for me and it made it taste sooo delicious!! The veggies in the sandwich seemed fresh overall and the bread was perfectly toasted. I do wish that they added a bit more meat to the sandwich though, because I felt like it was mostly the veggies and bread with very little meat. Alongside this, I'd say the sandwiches here are on the pricier end compared to other banh mi shops. The store itself is really small and is for to go orders only; there is no seating indoors or outdoors. Once you put in your order, you are asked to wait outside and they'd bring your food to you. A very small, to-go only Vietnamese sandwich and food shop in a strip mall near Cypress College. Not only the best Bahn Mi sandwiches we've had, but also just the most friendly and personable couple who run this place. So nice, friendly, and thoughtful. They routinely offer a complementary drink while we wait or today even to-go when we didn't have to wait. We even found an angel food loaf in our bag as a bonus. As with all extra acts of generosity, it's best not to expect or feel entitled to these things, but just enjoy and be pleasantly surprised each time if it happens. Because it's a mom and pop type shop, there is a longer wait, but all you have to do is call in your order and they'll give you an ETA. They adhere to fairly strict COVID protocols, in that only one party is allowed in at a time. While there is a sign that masks are required inside, they didn't ask me to put one on, probably because it's far less common these days to have one on you. We had BBQ pork, grilled pork, and grilled chicken bahn mi sandwiches, and it was my Dad and sister's first time having them. My wife and daughter are vets like me. We love the food here, and clearly people agree as they have more than 1700 reviews and a 4.8 rating. We're happy that this place seems to be doing such good business, and Cypress is lucky to have such a great place to go for Vietnamese food. read more

I love this banh mi spot so much, y'all don't even understand! It's popular and beloved for a reason. The service, the food, the vibes are so immaculate every time! To start, owners are just the sweetest people. They always make me feel so welcome and so listened to. No matter how complex or complicated an order we put in, they get it right every time. When I come to Sandwich House, I usually order for 3-4 people (and each of us typically asks for modifications, sorry!) and they deliver every single time. The interior of the store is very small, but it is filled with snacks and other Asian goodies that I grew up with. Some of them I haven't seen in ages! The food is take-out only as there is no place to sit, but across the street is Cypress College which has plenty of grass and seating area if you're looking for a place to eat.
