My review is solely based on the beef banh mi. My friend and I drove from LA to visit this spot so I can taste of an authentic banh mi that apparently has Maggie seasoning, legit baguette and what my friend swears is a magic mayo like no other. Finally got a chance to try this place today!! It's been on my list due to all the great things I hear. Safe to say, all things heard -- are absolutely true. Right when my sister and I walked in, we felt SO welcomed. My sister ordered a tofu banh mi and I ordered the house special sandwich. We both killed the entire sandwich in one sitting (usually we eat half and save the rest for later). Their pate is sooooo good and the ingredients tasted incredibly fresh. The bread didn't taste like your usual baguette bread. It had a lighter crunch, and it felt very soft at the same time. It's different from your usual banh mi chain places, which I like. It was good different. The wonderful owners offered us some freshly brewed jasmine tea and surprised us with some cupcakes at the end. They also gave us an orange for good luck for the lunar new year!! Our hearts are so filled. We didn't expect any of that. The owner gave both my crony and I a free dessert and normal iced tea since it was our first time there. He also told us that since we're customers that we can park as long as we want in his parking slots (he told us that other owners in the plaza complain if this customers park in front of their stores). On our trip to Soak City, my husband and I decided to grab some banh mi for our adventures and I found this spot. When I entered the man behind the counter was very sweet. He asked if Ive ever been there before and I said no, so he told me the house combo was very popular. Tucked away in the back of a strip mall across from Cypress College. :) The service was great, it's a family owned shop, and the owner was beyond friendly and gracious. The ambiance is that of a small banh mi shop - lots of other random food and snacks on the shelves as well - he threw in some cake for us to try as well as a thank you for waiting. The sandwiches are proper, soft French bread, fresh quality greens, and proper meats! The one caveat that I'll give is that next time I -will- be calling ahead as it was about a ~20 minute wait.
