Great steak! We were passing through town and stopped for lunch. It was a Sunday a little after 12pm so it was pretty crowded ( after church ). Our crowd of 7 had steak and it was cooked well and good portions. Our waitress perhaps gave us too much info on her personal life and had her ten year old son at the bar. Took a little too long for us to get out tickets as some were in a hurry. Very pleasantly surprised!! My wife and I don't usually have good luck with chain roadhouses but this one gave us hope for our next interstate travel plans. We both had the 7oz filet and it was cooked medium rare spot on. The waitress was genuine & pleasant and she kept the rolls & peanuts stocked. One single complaint.., the loaded baked potato's skin was covered in salt as if was a carnival pretzel. It affected the flavor of everything else on the plate including the filet (which was a shame because the filet was quite tasty). We would stop here again but if I do I'll be asking for an unsalted potato next time. read more

Great place. We were new In town this place was recommended by our hotel clerk. We were warned about the wait on a Saturday night and we did wait about 20 minutes however it was not an uncomfortable wait. Our waitress was super attentive and the food was perfect. Especially enjoyed the jumbo mozzarella sticks. And my ribeye was cooked to perfection. If stopping in town I highly recommend this place for dinner. read more

We ate there and both of us got sick within 20 mins after leaving the restaurant. Restaurant manager blamed it on the bug going around, would not even accept that anything could happen at their restaurant since the food is "fresh", I guess she doesn't understand what cross contamination is, or maybe her own people are working sick. My family and I were out of town travelling. We found a suggestion on the internet regarding Santa Fe restaurant. After all the wonderful reviews, we expected a fine dining experience. But to my dismay, this wasn't the case. Our drinks and rolls came in a timely fashion, however, that's where things started to go down hill. The restaurant was nowhere near as busy as it should have been, due to the fact it was almost the end of lunch time. Thinking we would be able to order from the lunch menu, we waited and we waited and then waited some more. The short of that is it took far too long for our waitress to come back and take our order. Once she did, the very same thing happened. Once we finally received our meal, both my sons and my dinner was overcooked and part of meal was cold. They recooked mine, as my son hungry and didn't want to be bothered by it, I ate from my two sides until finally; they brought my food out ( bearing in mind it had already taken them too long to begin with ). I had asked for my steak to be meduim. The first time it was well done. The second time, the manager asked me to cut into it. It was medium well and the manager asked what did she think. She asked again if I wanted another steak cooked. I told not to bother and that she had lost my patronage. Considering most of the reviews, I don't see their business being hurt by this review, however I felt it necessary to mention. However I do beg to differ on some of some of the reviews. Oh and by the way, my second potato was hot as was my shrimp. At least the made amends for something but certainly wasn't the primary reason I ordered that off the menu. Thank this restaurant for giving you a meal that you can feed to your dogs. read more

Service as great but a warning to you that order the ribeye. Mine was extremely salty. I would recommend avoiding this dish of salt is not your favorite spice. Well 3 years later I'm back, and the food is still excellent. Had the small sirloin this trip rather than the cheeseburger. It was cooked just the way I ordered with no problems. Jordan did a great job of making sure we never wanted for anything while we enjoyed our meal--attentive with hanging all over us. I'd like to know how they get all that salt to sick to the outside of the baked potato. It was a really tasty baked potato, substitute it for your fries next time your there. read more

I checked in with the hostess up front. I requested a booth for 2, even if it meant there would be a longer wait. The young lady said it would be about 45 minutes. We waited 50 minutes without our name being called and knowing these times are approximate I went to check with the hostess up front and she says it will be about another 15 minutes. Being disappointed with the news of another 15 minutes I go back to the bench where I had been waiting, to share the news with my wife. We wait another 15 minutes when I see the two hostess turn their heads and look our way (We are sitting outside the door to the left of the hostess). I'm thinking great, we are about to be seated to eat. The hostess comes out to us and says we have a table and two chairs if you would like to be seated now. I ask her how long will it be for a booth and she says 15 more minutes. I say to her, that's what you told me 15 minutes ago. Like I said I know these times are approximate but we are talking twice the wait time from what we were told at the beginning. I then tell her we will wait for the booth, being that is what we had ask for from the start. She goes back inside and within seconds our name is called over the speaker to be seated. Great we didn't have to wait another 15 minutes after all. Our conversation about it being another 15 minutes with the hostess had already set the mood.No one wants to wait 1 1/2 hours to be seated after being told 45 minutes. For a brief time that was our reality. The waitress had no social skills. She would start talking over me before I could answer her last question. We ordered the 16 ounce ribeye steaks. They were cooked the way we ordered them. The only problem was you would not have known they were ribeye steaks. If you have ever had flank steak these were identical, chew chew and chew some more. Very poor quality meat, very grainy. We finished what we could and ask for our check. It took 10 minutes to get the check, take my card, cash us out and return it for me to sign before we could leave. I live in the area and have had many experiences with this restaurant, some good some not so good. It is hit and miss. I have never had a GREAT STEAK HERE. Good but not great. read more

I was hesitant to write this review (by the way, I'm writing it while the bartender is flirting with the hostess and I'm waiting on my check) but too many things conspired not to write. I ordered the cowboy combo, the portions were fine, the sausage came out luke warm. I was not asked how everything was until I had finished my meal (yes, I ate it all because the flavor was very good) and when I had informed the bartender that the sausage was not of proper temperature I didn't even receive an apology....... The food here is of good quality, the atmosphere is good too, but your battender needs some customer sevice training. He just handed me my check, said "have a good night" (more than I expected) and walked away before asking if I needed anything else. That is why you received 3 stars (I'm being generous, I originally had 2. The taste of the food saved you there) I more than likely will not return here. Very nice restaurant and great service. Combo platter for 2 was very good, plenty of food. Served on a hot iron skillet so it all stayed hot while we ate, very nice touch. We came from Wisconsin to Alabama for family business. We stayed in Fort Payne for 3 days. Not wanting fast food on this trip we decided to stop at the Santa Fe. We were more than impressed with both the food and the service. Alisa (I hope I'm right) treated our granddaughter with laughter and respect treating them as she would a adult while taking their orders. Their ribs and fries were great and our steaks were cooked to perfection. We were so impressed with the service and food we came back 2 days later. Had a different wait person (sorry didn't get his name) and he was just as good as Alisa. Again the food was cooked to perfection steaks again for my husband and me but the girls order burgers and fries and they loved them too. We are planning on coming to Alabama again and plan on coming back to the Santa Fe. Wish we had it in Wisconsin. The worst service I have ever received. Twice. My wife and I travel though a lot and love steakhouses so we've eaten here twice. The first time my steak was overcooked. Twice. Got free food but I wasted my time. My waitress was awesome, think her name was something like Monica? Can't remember. We only waited 15 minutes, but like I said we wasted our time since my steak was not cooked how I ordered and my wife's pasta was not good either. The second time we came through was a Saturday, and we waited for 50 minutes. The hostesses were very friendly. (but two looked very overwhelmed) The managers seemed angry toward them, but was very, very nice to us, so maybe it was just worked related stress. Our waiter was a man this time, didn't catch his name, but he was terrible. Rude and distracted. Steak was overcooked. Again. Wife's food was good though. She was pleased, we just ran out of drinks a lot. Overall I don't think we will be going back anymore. Sad because it seems to have potential. read more
