Came here in May for my Birthday weekend, which also happens to be Mother's Day weekend. We made reservations and when we arrived were told it would be a long wait due to people not leaving their tables as often. This was disappointing because we had plans after but we made it work. I wish they could have texted folks and told them this - they called me the day before confirming my reservation so I am assuming they have peoples phone numbers. There isn't a place to sit and wait really as it's right on PCH and it's just a busy part of the main strip there. Once seated (we took first available, inside) the place was so full, it has some fun decor and it has a nice breeze from the ocean right outside. We had hoped that since our reservation was pushed back that we would get the dinner menu (it was after the listed brunch hours) and we'd spent our wait time looking at that menu to make choices. We were told too many people still wanted to eat brunch so we couldn't. It was fine, understandable, but a little disappointing. We ate brunch, the food was tasty and there were some fun options. It seemed like our server was overwhelmed and wasn't super engaging. Also took very long time to bring things back or check on us. All of this is understandable on a holiday weekend, but hoping the feedback encourages them to plan differently for future days. read more

I've been to Sapphire a few times now and it's always a great experience. If you sit outside, and if you're in laguna beach why would you not, you have a nice ocean view. It was a little overcast when I was there but that's not their fault! I had the Meyer lemon waffles which were light and crispy and tender with a delicious lemon cre sauce and a side of syrup, topped with berries. It was wonderful! My daughter had the chicken sandwich which was a very generous portion and came with a huge side of herbed French fries. I had to try hers too and it was delicious!! The staff is friendly, and we were served attentively by Elena. Afterwards, you can walk off your meal by perusing the many little shops next door. Came here for a surprise dinner and had the best time. Online they don't do more than 8 for reservations. However, you can call in and have a larger group reservation. The outside seating was beautiful and plenty of fire to keep the temp. The staff at Sapphire were amazing and so kind really making the surprise that much better. We ordered so much food and overall had a good experience. The one thing I will say is the halibut seemed a bit dry/overcooked. If you're in between seafood dishes, definitely go for the salmon! Came here for brunch this past weekend and it was our first time. We sat on their outdoor patio which has heaters and a view of the ocean. Started off by ordering a Bloody Mary and almond milk latte. Loved the bloody and probably one of the best lattes I have ever had. They have their own coffee shop so will definitely be back for more lattes! We asked for recommendations and were told to get the waffles and pork belly Benedict . We also got their eggs, toast, sausage and bacon. The waffles were the BEST I've ever had. Their waffles were soft and cooked to perfection. The berries on the waffles were sweet and the cream on the waffles tasted amazing. The pork belly Benedict is a must and their sausage tasted home made! We LOVED everything we ordered. To make it even better, Sal gave us amazing customer service. This place was jumping this evening. I got up from my table to check on my order and I took these pictures of the chef's special. Grilled sea bass with assorted vegetables for 46$. I think it was the best I have ever eaten. My date had the grilled salmon. Mine was the best.I am there all the time cause I have never had a bad meal. The service could have been a little faster, but they were crowded. We couldn't get a table outside so we got a booth inside which was fine. I got the smoked salmon omelette with a roasted potato and veggie hash and watercress salad. The salad was nothing crazy but I really liked the flavor of the veggies and the omelette was cooked really well. I usually do my annual summer trip for the pageant of the masters. Every once a year we choose a new restaurant to try out. Just a heads up if making a reservation through yelp it doesn't give the option for outside dinning. On any given beautiful day I would request to eat outside in the front patio. We didn't have this option bc when we asked they said it was all booked. I had the pasta with the slow cooked pork it was spicy and flavorful. Good dish! My aunt went for the salmon she ate the whole plate and the sides paired well. And the last meal was the basic hamburger which you can't really screw up. My aunt and cousin ordered the margaritas per their opinion they felt like it wasn't good. It didn't taste like a traditional margarita. The drink options were pretty pricy $11+ per drink. On a side note: parking is in the back for free with validation. One less star bc of the timing they were so busy they need more staff read more

We spent a lovely day in Laguna Beach and met up with some friends here for dinner. We were seated outside. Views are beautiful, but perhaps not the most ideal table arrangements because the sun was blinding me for majority of the meal no matter how I shifted around. Cocktails are pretty good and made everyone happy. We shared some duck wings for the table and they were okay, a little dry. The sophisticated three year old in our party loved them though. I had the prime short rib bolognese and my partner ordered the pork schnitzel. I loved the menu descriptions but the food didn't deliver. The pappardelle pasta was very overcooked, they broke apart with the touch of a fork. Short rib was tender but too salty for me, especially after the pecorino romano on top. The schnitzel itself was pretty good, standard, but I wish they served the gravy on the side because after a few minutes, everything was soggy from it. Pumpkin spaetzle sounded amazing but was very disappointing and we barely touched it. Prices seem outrageous at first, but for its location, probably fair. I'm not a local and not sure how this establishment compares in the area, but we were unimpressed. read more

Set up a reservation for my moms birthday. Reservation process is on open table and was very easy to set up and check in. There's validated parking in a structure behind the restaurant, which was convenient for a Saturday dinner during Father's Day weekend. We tried the wagyu burger, pork ragu, Mac n cheese, and the seafood special which was a prawn scampi. Everything was very delicious and our servers were extremely on top of the service. Outside seating is really comfortable with outside heaters when it cools down and a nice peek of the ocean. He sat another party of 3 on at a table that barely fit 2 and that order drinks but heard them say that it was uncomfortable and walked out. Those 3 tables along with the table for 6 were still empty when we were done and had not even been push together like he said was needed an hour and 45 minutes later. His whole attitude was unacceptable and obviously doesn't know how to run a quality restaurant for the best service when he has people walking out after being seated. read more

Lovely restaurant in the middle of Laguna. Our lovely server Janel was very accommodating and considerate. We had a special food request. They were very helpful although it took the kitchen unreasonable time to prepare. Squash soup was delicious and the kale - beets salad was very sizable and tasty. We had dogs with us and the Manager was super kind and provided puppies with water bowl and snacks. Atmosphere was American Bistro, restaurant is very spacious inside and outside. Again don't waste your $. The crispy chicken sandwich is fantastic and the fries are excellent. The focaccia bread is also very tasty. The latte was weak and I could barely taste the espresso. Hard 2. Eggs Benedict should be easy to execute, this whole pork belly Benedict is poorly composed. Overcooked lean sections of pork, doesn't go well with egg yolk or hollandaise. Watery poached eggs (although poached correctly). Random veggies with it. Can get a better eggs Benedict at Dennys. Sapphire salad. Basic, but you can't charge $10 for a chicken addition and then overcook the living daylights out of a chicken breast. Fries are decent. Won't return. So, we came here largely because of the outstanding yelp reviews. But we feel that three stars is generous, and we hope others will have a more accurate view of this restaurant before going and finding yelp to be quite off. It is possible they just had an off night, but the only redeeming thing for us was the view. The service was lousy. When we first sat down, my friend ordered bread while I went to the restroom. 20 minutes later, I ordered the bread again not knowing he already had. The waitress noticed (after we tried to order it again) that it hadn't come. She said it was baking. 25 minutes in, we were brought dry and not freshly baked bread. The salad was mediocre. Very little goat cheese. Just a big plate of lettuce - tho the lettuce was beautiful. No knife to cut the hearts with though. My friend ordered the burger medium, no secret sauce. It came back raw. He sent it back to have it cooked again. They brought it back just as raw, but with the secret sauce. By this point, he ate the little that was cooked and not covered in the sauce because we were starving and why bother sending it back? He also got a cocktail that was just a mess of ice with no liquor. The fries were good though. Have to say. Mine was the shrimp, mussels, and clams appetizer. The Israeli couscous was undercooked. But the worst part was the seafood not only smelled, but the taste of the liquidy sauce was like dirty ocean water. I opted just not to eat it. One of the shrimps I did try was fishy and still had parts of the shell on, which I found out after biting into it. The view was lovely. But as I said, that's the only redeeming part of our experience. Even one of the ladies' bathroom stalls is out of order and the bathroom was pretty dirty. read more

Always drive by here and finally got the chance to try brunch with my friends. We had a reservation and were a few minutes late but they were super accommodating and we were seated immediately. Our server was very helpful and we were seated outdoor at the edge of the patio area. We ordered truffle Mac n cheese, chicken sandwich, their burger done medium well, Caesar salad, and fish tacos. They were solid meals but I'll be honest you're there for the beach view and laguna vibe rather than the food. It was all a little dry, and beware the ceasar salad isn't chopped so you have to really nibble at it. Regardless, a few drinks in and none of that matter. The sun was shining, the beach view is fantastic and once again the service was great. Our water cups were always full. As I mentioned, you can't have brunch without the drinks and the mimosas were really yummy. I would recommend getting the passion orange (?) I believe that's what it was. So delicious. They also had a mock tail which was yummy and appreciated for those who want a drink but just aren't in the mood. It was refreshing. The best part was the fries, they were nice and crispy. The waiters were also inconsistent. They were nice, but the whole time we were there we never got a refill of our water.
