Came here for a surprise dinner and had the best time. Online they don't do more than 8 for reservations. However, you can call in and have a larger group reservation. The outside seating was beautiful and plenty of fire to keep the temp. The staff at Sapphire were amazing and so kind really making the surprise that much better. We ordered so much food and overall had a good experience. The one thing I will say is the halibut seemed a bit dry/overcooked. If you're in between seafood dishes, definitely go for the salmon! Came here for brunch this past weekend and it was our first time. We sat on their outdoor patio which has heaters and a view of the ocean. Started off by ordering a Bloody Mary and almond milk latte. Loved the bloody and probably one of the best lattes I have ever had. They have their own coffee shop so will definitely be back for more lattes! We asked for recommendations and were told to get the waffles and pork belly Benedict . We also got their eggs, toast, sausage and bacon. The waffles were the BEST I've ever had. Their waffles were soft and cooked to perfection. The berries on the waffles were sweet and the cream on the waffles tasted amazing. The pork belly Benedict is a must and their sausage tasted home made! We LOVED everything we ordered. To make it even better, Sal gave us amazing customer service. This place was jumping this evening. I got up from my table to check on my order and I took these pictures of the chef's special. Grilled sea bass with assorted vegetables for 46$. I think it was the best I have ever eaten. My date had the grilled salmon. Mine was the best.I am there all the time cause I have never had a bad meal. The service could have been a little faster, but they were crowded. We couldn't get a table outside so we got a booth inside which was fine. I got the smoked salmon omelette with a roasted potato and veggie hash and watercress salad. The salad was nothing crazy but I really liked the flavor of the veggies and the omelette was cooked really well. The service was great! We sat on the outside patio with a nice view of the ocean. The traffic is very loud though. The Caesar salad is a huge waste of $$. The dressing is tart and tastes like Kraft from a plastic jar. I was extremely disappointed for $30!!! The shrimp was tasty, but the steak strips on the salad were mushy and overly marinated. Again don't waste your $. The crispy chicken sandwich is fantastic and the fries are excellent. The focaccia bread is also very tasty. The latte was weak and I could barely taste the espresso. We spent a lovely day in Laguna Beach and met up with some friends here for dinner. We were seated outside. Views are beautiful, but perhaps not the most ideal table arrangements because the sun was blinding me for majority of the meal no matter how I shifted around. Cocktails are pretty good and made everyone happy. We shared some duck wings for the table and they were okay, a little dry. The sophisticated three year old in our party loved them though. I had the prime short rib bolognese and my partner ordered the pork schnitzel. I loved the menu descriptions but the food didn't deliver. The pappardelle pasta was very overcooked, they broke apart with the touch of a fork. Short rib was tender but too salty for me, especially after the pecorino romano on top. The schnitzel itself was pretty good, standard, but I wish they served the gravy on the side because after a few minutes, everything was soggy from it. Pumpkin spaetzle sounded amazing but was very disappointing and we barely touched it. Prices seem outrageous at first, but for its location, probably fair. I'm not a local and not sure how this establishment compares in the area, but we were unimpressed. read more

Set up a reservation for my moms birthday. Reservation process is on open table and was very easy to set up and check in. There's validated parking in a structure behind the restaurant, which was convenient for a Saturday dinner during Father's Day weekend. We tried the wagyu burger, pork ragu, Mac n cheese, and the seafood special which was a prawn scampi. Everything was very delicious and our servers were extremely on top of the service. Outside seating is really comfortable with outside heaters when it cools down and a nice peek of the ocean. Basic, but you can't charge $10 for a chicken addition and then overcook the living daylights out of a chicken breast. Fries are decent. Won't return. This place is ok. It's outdoor seating on a nice patio area with a really nice staff. Unfortunately the foods just ok. We got a wagyu burger and a chicken sandwich. The best part was the fries, they were nice and crispy. The waiters were also inconsistent. They were nice, but the whole time we were there we never got a refill of our water. We were really thirsty for like 45 minutes and nobody ever came by. Overall I wouldn't go back. Overpriced for the quality of food, and no water refills sealed the deal. read more

Lovely restaurant in the middle of Laguna. Our lovely server Janel was very accommodating and considerate. We had a special food request. They were very helpful although it took the kitchen unreasonable time to prepare. Squash soup was delicious and the kale - beets salad was very sizable and tasty. We had dogs with us and the Manager was super kind and provided puppies with water bowl and snacks. Atmosphere was American Bistro, restaurant is very spacious inside and outside. Always drive by here and finally got the chance to try brunch with my friends. We had a reservation and were a few minutes late but they were super accommodating and we were seated immediately. Our server was very helpful and we were seated outdoor at the edge of the patio area. We ordered truffle Mac n cheese, chicken sandwich, their burger done medium well, Caesar salad, and fish tacos. They were solid meals but I'll be honest you're there for the beach view and laguna vibe rather than the food. It was all a little dry, and beware the ceasar salad isn't chopped so you have to really nibble at it. Regardless, a few drinks in and none of that matter. The sun was shining, the beach view is fantastic and once again the service was great. Our water cups were always full. As I mentioned, you can't have brunch without the drinks and the mimosas were really yummy. I would recommend getting the passion orange (?) I believe that's what it was. So delicious. They also had a mock tail which was yummy and appreciated for those who want a drink but just aren't in the mood. It was refreshing. So, we came here largely because of the outstanding yelp reviews. But we feel that three stars is generous, and we hope others will have a more accurate view of this restaurant before going and finding yelp to be quite off. It is possible they just had an off night, but the only redeeming thing for us was the view. The service was lousy. When we first sat down, my friend ordered bread while I went to the restroom. 20 minutes later, I ordered the bread again not knowing he already had. The waitress noticed (after we tried to order it again) that it hadn't come. She said it was baking. 25 minutes in, we were brought dry and not freshly baked bread. The salad was mediocre. Very little goat cheese. Just a big plate of lettuce - tho the lettuce was beautiful. No knife to cut the hearts with though. My friend ordered the burger medium, no secret sauce. It came back raw. He sent it back to have it cooked again. They brought it back just as raw, but with the secret sauce. By this point, he ate the little that was cooked and not covered in the sauce because we were starving and why bother sending it back? He also got a cocktail that was just a mess of ice with no liquor. The fries were good though. Have to say. Mine was the shrimp, mussels, and clams appetizer. The Israeli couscous was undercooked. But the worst part was the seafood not only smelled, but the taste of the liquidy sauce was like dirty ocean water. I opted just not to eat it. One of the shrimps I did try was fishy and still had parts of the shell on, which I found out after biting into it. The view was lovely. But as I said, that's the only redeeming part of our experience. Even one of the ladies' bathroom stalls is out of order and the bathroom was pretty dirty. read more

Great stop when in South Laguna. Enjoy the locals hour in the bar from 3-6pm and get a discount on drinks and some of the appetizers. Enjoyed both drinks I got Gin Rummy was a fun mix of Gin and wine believe it or not. Also the black dog was a fun spin on an old fashioned. Really interesting stuff I want to try some of the others. I also ordered the halibut which was great but the size of the filet was a little smaller than I would've expected for $43 and the sea salt potato's were undercooked which made it not my favorite. I also couldn't figure out what other vegetables were included in there but the presentation on the website looked much better than what I had. The service was amazing like a lot of the other reviews on here said which is why I gave them 4 stars. I'm gonna come back and give them another chance with some other menu items because of the service. read more

Both times we have come, we have a waiter (different person both times) who we only see twice: once to take our order and once to give the check. The food runner brings the food and very quickly goes back inside. So if you want extra condiments, more water etc... probably not going to happen since the waiter doesn't ever come back. I think we have just gotten maybe new waiters both times. We see other tables with very attentive waiters. Maybe just some tweaking needed in the training! This was my second time dining at the sapphire on PCH. I can say without any reservations, that the experience, the food, the ambience, the servers, the host and hostesses are all top-notch. Not only is it fine dining in an open air atmosphere, but it is fine dining across the street from the Pacific Ocean. The view my date and I had of the Pacific Ocean was breathtaking and it helped to enhance and elevate the experience. We both had the fish specials. I had the halibut and my date had the swordfish. Both were cooked to perfection and there was not a drop left on our plates. First time experience was not good. Made a reservation for Halloween evening at 6. Place was not busy. Our server took some time to greet us and this set the tone for the entire service. Ordered wine and one of their craft cocktails, smoke rings, which was very good. Food and service were both issues. While the meatballs starter were a solid 4.5, the mains were not good. I had the schnitzel, which was way too sweet. The sauce they poured over it was the issue. It was fried perfectly, but I didn't care for the sauce. Others here recommend it, but it was the worst flavor for a schnitzel I've ever had. My friend had the salmon, which came out extremely raw. First bite in was cold. Pic attached. Since our server couldn't be bothered to check on us after receiving the entrees, we had to flag down someone else and return the salmon for another dish. This time she tried the pork chop, which also came out pink in the middle. We waited again to inform our server, who finally arrived and stated that they cook the pork chop medium rare. Never head of that, but OK. Didn't finish the pork chop. Flagged another staff for the check since our server was missing in action again, and it never arrived so we stood at the hostess desk waiting on someone to help us. I believe it was the owner who finally asked how the meal was and was kind enough to remove the salmon from the check and get us out of there.
