This place has the best nonalcoholic beer in the world. Or at least I think so. Love places that have multiple NA beers. It seemed like the restaurant was understaffed for waiters, our waiter was serving a lot of tables and doing their best to get to all of them in a timely manner but it's just not possible. The outside sitting area is really nice and has patio heaters. Inside is really cool too. Very unique atmosphere. The salmon salad seemed like a great deal since it was a full salad with a good sized piece of salmon. Salmon was super hot and crispy! Great food. read more

We were so lucky to be able to basically walk in with a group of 8. EIGHT. And get a table inside on a Saturday night - personally I think that's unheard of especially when the food was delicious. I split some oysters with a friend and got the schnitzel. Let me tell you that schnitzel was t a s t y TASTY. So good. And huge. Was very filling. Been at this place before and enjoyed the food and they used to have good service too. Today I bought my friend who was visiting from out of town we arrived got seated and server take the drinks order as we were waiting to get our drinks and place the food order more customers came in got seated and they got the order taken and food and drinks was served to them who was got in about 30 minutes after us!!!! I did asked to talk to the manager he came over and I explained to him what was happening and why we were not getting the order that we placed 30 minutes ago and the new customer who just got in got to place their orders and was served right away! He just asked where is the table we were sitting I showed him he said ok we come and take the order and that's all he didn't even want to hear me very rude and not trying to make sure we're going to get a better service. We have been to Sapphire before and greatly enjoyed it. This time, the service and food was lovely, but we were seated next to a foursome who had three dogs under their table. These were not service dogs. When friends stopped by to visit their table, the dogs ran out from under the table and started barking. Shrill loud barks you could hear throughout the restaurant. After the 5th or 6th time over the course of an hour, the atmosphere was ruined for us. The waiters going by were petting the dogs! And this is a restaurant that does not use trays but delivers the food by hand! Ick! Finally, the 30 year old owner of one of the dogs picked it up, sat it on his lap, and arranged the dog so that its paws were on the table like it was a seated guest. How filthy! At such a nice place asking $68 for a steak! How can this be possible? read more

Really great experience here last night with two friends. The service was spectacular. Honestly, they apparently just got a new online ordering system for the servers to use and my server accidentally messed up my order BUT she was so apologetic and nice about it. Then the manager (owner?) came to our table to apologize again and comped the meal. We were also treated to free dessert. To me, this was above and beyond! Accidents happen, but the ownership and quick service recovery was perfect. The overall ambiance is so nice, and as the sun went down and the chill outside increased staff came around to turn on heaters and offer lap blankets. I have been to the vine in San Clemente many times and have been wanting to try Sapphire for awhile... finally went there to celebrate my birthday last month and it was excellent! Everything was tasty! My favorite is the pork belly Brussels sprouts- so flavorful and the sauce is amazing! You can never go wrong with their ribeye- so tender and I love their veggie that go with it, so fresh and crunchy! Also their burger is so good too! Fries are cooked to perfection. Came here for Father's Day Brunch and felt like we got one of the best seats in the house. It was front and center on the patio overlooking the ocean view. Service was attentive, and food was delicious. Their brunch menu is only one page long so not a huge selection, but we enjoyed everything we ordered. I especially liked my market scramble which is basically a veggie scramble, but the vegetables came in pretty huge chunks and there was lots of variety - artichokes, squash, tomatoes, onions, etc. This is a great spot in Laguna for brunch or any other meal. read more

We spontaneously came to sapphire after our original dinner plans got changed. We're so glad we did! We had the best medium rare filet mignon of our lives! And the veggies, sauce, and mash potatoes were perfect pairing with the meat. We originally asked to sit inside, but they were accommodating when we decided to change our minds when we saw the beautiful outdoor ambiance! It was a busy night so we were in the corner- anticipating we might get forgotten, but the service was attentive and we definitely weren't forgotten. I had this review in my drafts since February and I've decided to share them now, since I still have not gotten over the ill feelings I had back then. It was Valentine's Day so I realize it was a busy day, but I booked my reservation almost a month in advance. Still, we were seated at an outdoor table that had NO tablecloth or flowers, even though the tables directly next to us on either side had these nice touches. The details go a long way. The server was a really nice fellow, I'm sure it wasn't his fault that the table wasn't prepped completely. There seems to have been some disorganization at the host stand... the girl just kind of motioned us to the table with a wave. As far as food goes, the appetizers were pretty good, but nothing phenomenal. The gravy and sauces are definitely better than average. We enjoyed the Duck Meatballs and Roasted Brussel Sprouts with Pork Belly, but my entree was pretty subpar. I noticed a lack of reviews on Yelp for the Rosemary Pork Chop, so I wanted to try it for myself to see what's it's like. It might be a good option if you're very into pork, but it was a bit much for me. A lot of bland, tough meat. The only way it could be deemed edible was to slather it with the mashed potato and sauce. I guess I would just hope that the cut of meat in a main course is prepared well enough to speak for itself. Not in this case! I really wish I had gone with the Ribeye instead, I may have had a better experience. read more

Wow. I can't believe we have skipped over this place for so long. They had parking all along we just hadn't realized it. The garage is in the back behind the restaurant off the side street and it's complimentary with a token too! They had a huge outdoor patio with a gorgeous view of the sunset over the water and all the cars on pch. (Little man loves watching cars so that was a helpful distraction) Nice high chair for the little man and they had a cup of water with a lid for him too! We started with the homemade focaccia with whipped butter and it was flaky and warm. The soup was a special of the day - sweet potato soup with pistachios and goat cheese and it was heavenly- silky smooth texture with a robust flavor. At this stage of my pregnancy I had a craving for a burger but a real burger and this fit the bill perfectly. A challah bun for one thing!! And then lettuce, tomato and wagyu beef! The boys devoured the fries too! The menu had other items that looked delicious but I needed my burger haha but looking forward to returning again soon! read more

We came in last night and ordered our regular items: the sapphire salad and cioppino. The salads came out and were nowhere near as good as they usually are. I mentioned something to our waiter, and at first, he did not really push to see what he could do or to find out why. To his credit, he did come back and ask me about it again, and I told him it was missing ingredients and that I felt I was eating mostly weed lettuce. He started naming the ingredients, and I said definitely no corn and very light on anything else. After that conversation, I expected the manager to come over to discuss, as the manager who works there is always so good! He truly cares. I did not call him over, as the restaurant was busy and he was actually bussing tables, so I let him be. Then what followed was worse: Our cioppino took so, so long to get to us, and our waiter had too many tables, I believe, to really follow through on how things were going for us. He was very pleasant and was trying, but something was just off last night. He finally came by and said your cioppino was coming, and again, it never did. Finally, it came -- 35 to 40 minutes after first ordering it -- and I even mentioned along the way that it was taking way too long compared to what we had experienced before. The patio was full, and the dining room was about half full, so most likely just understaffed this particular night. Our cioppino was also very light on fish after it finally arrived, even though we had requested no shellfish and extra fish, and our waiter said not a problem. At this point, we did not want to send it back and wait further. I thought for sure the manager would have come over once the waiter became aware of the long delay, but again, that did not happen. This manager is a great, hard-working manager, so again, hopefully this was just an off night for the restaurant. I was planning on making a reservation for a nice birthday party for my best friend on 3-14 while I was there, but I decided I did not want to chance it and will pick another restaurant, since they are driving almost 2 hours for a great dining experience. I hope one of our favorite restaurants will get better at whatever it needs to do!! read more

We had a delicious family brunch here on a sunny afternoon and really enjoyed sitting outside on the beautiful patio. Service was friendly, and we all enjoyed our entrées. Started with a couple of cocktails ( The Greeter) , and some glasses of wine. We tried the wonderful salmon salad, the tasty fillet salad, a yummy salmon omelette, and the schnitzel eggs. Once we arrived, it took a few minutes to sit down but it was quick. We ordered a variety of things because we wanted to try as many dishes as we could. Duck Meatballs: 10/10 These were to die for!! They were very flavorful and also had cavatelli pasta that was also just as amazing. The melted garlic and truffled goat cheese on top added so much more to it. Baked Skillet of Mac & Cheese: 6/10 I was really excited to try this but it was slightly disappointed. I did like that it was too cheesy and tasted home made but it lacked flavor. I've had better. 45 Day Aged Bone In Ribeye Steak: 8.5/10 WOW was this amazing!! Super tender and flavorful. It was also huge for the price so definitely great portion. I loved the blue cheese mashed potatoes (only my favorite part of the dish). Our overall experience here was unforgettable. Our waiter (tall with a mustache who's name I forgot) was very attentive and offered great suggestions for food and drinks. This is probably the best experience I've had at a restaurant in LA/OC. Cold reception up in check in with my party of six with a reservation on the books for over 3 weeks. Poor selection for brunch unless you like to drink at 10am in the morning. Service was ok at best but we found it annoying that the waiter would call out the order and have the guests reach over the table for their plates upon delivery instead of place the entrees for us, maybe next time I could just head over to the kitchen and get it myself. No follow up on the quality of the food and forget about "how would you like that cooked?" It comes they way they want to cook it not how you ordered it, period Never again for my party. I finished my business meeting early (around 11 am) and wanted to have steak for early lunch. I called multiple restaurants but either they didn't answer or they only served it during dinner hours. I called sapphire and they said they only serve it during dinner hours but would make an exception if I came in and asked for it. They went out of their way to prepare their kitchen so that they could make me the dish I wanted. I ordered the steak medium rare and it came out exactly how I wanted it to be. The flavors were excellent! I'm a huge steak snob so I know when it's bad. I don't order steak at restaurants unless it's a steak house because it never is cooked to perfection. This place changed my mind. If I want a steak and don't have time to go to a steak house, this is the place I'll go too. The steak was beautiful, Brussel sprouts were amazing and the cocktails were fire. If I had anything to gripe about, I would say that I wish I had more mashed potatoes. Give this place a try! Another fabulous Laguna Beach restaurant dinner experience at Sapphire. Our server Janelle was a gem and provided great service. To start, hubby had the roasted tomato soup (had a bit of red pepper and a swift kick) with croutons. It was delicious. I enjoyed the sweet gem salad, but substituted goat cheese for blue cheese. The Meyer lemon Dijon vinaigrette was amazing. We also ordered the Rosemary focaccia - also delicious. I tried the snap dragon cocktail although the sale rim was a bit much for me and they quickly adjusted to my liking. The Alaskan Halibut was prepared perfectly -- seasoned with a slight crust and served with tender veggies. I ate almost every bite. My hubby enjoyed duck meatballs and baked Mac and cheese with chicken skin crust. The pace of the meal was nice and Janelle did a good job of checking in on us. Very casual vibe, with a touch of a bar/grill atmosphere. Sam, the manager stopped by and checked in on us.
