Sardi's is a staple in the entertainment community, and I'm surprised I hadn't been before. When you walk in, it truly feels like you've stepped back in time. Their are caricatures of every notable actor you can imagine, and every time a new caricature is added, they host a special event in a private room. I came late night with a group of rowdy ladies and just had a coffee and dessert. The menu is your typical Italian fare - something to please anyone. I'd be happy to come back and sample a couple of their apps and entrees. If you love Broadway and want a unique restaurant experience, definitely make a point to come to Sardi's. had a trip planned for new york and as an adult theater kid immediately had to make a reservation here! the place looks as iconic as it is known to be and the food was pretty solid! my mom and i split a lasagna bolognese and the spinach cannelonni and both thoroughly enjoyed each! it was my birthday dinner and i didn't order a dessert or alcohol, just a shirley temple, but our server comped it for the meal which was very nice! loved just looking around and seeing the pictures on the wall and feeling the broadway history there. great dinner spot before a show! read more

We went to the Labor Day Parade and on the way back we stopped at Sardi's ,it's been awhile since we've been there we got there just as they opened and enjoyed every course. There is a lot of locals that go there so it's not too touristy but it is still popular with the tourists but not as much as Carmines at the corner. Enjoy it we did read more

Have to love going to Sardi's before a show. It's a classic NYC staple in the theater district. Best spot in my opinion, is getting a table or a bar seat (which are hard to find if you don't go early) upstairs. Upstairs is the bar menu, but still great options. Highly highly recommend the baby kale salad. I would honestly go out of my way to come here for this salad. Service is a bit weird as you need to order from the bar (even if you are at a table) - - again this is just upstairs - - but bartenders are fantastic and very attentive. The vibes are great as majority of the people around are waiting to see a show, so lots of energetic and positive vibes :-) read more

Tough to get more iconic than Sardi's. Always been on that silly Bucket List thing for me. We sat upstairs which at first brought disappointment as I did not realize there were iconic photos up there as well as downstairs. But sure enough, plenty to gaze at and talk about. Food was good. We were celebrating our son's birthday and getting ready for a show. So it was a fun event all around. Service was awesome. It is cool when a joint like Sardi's steps up service because it does not really have to given its history. Even if the service was bad, we would still say we went to Sardi's. read more

Was happy to get to come here during their soft reopening due to COVID-19! There weren't many people here on the weeknight I came (tho Times Square was bustling), likely because the reopening was so recent. We got attention from multiple waiters and the service was top notch. The cannelloni was delicious and the Irish coffee to top off the evening was the best I've had outside of Ireland (served with real actual heavy whipped cream, not the fake stuff or mere creamer). read more

I was so excited to go here. This is truely a broadway must. The photos of all the celebrities covering the walls in so inspirational. I will be up there one day. The food and service are great but I loved being in a world renowned place and I also got my photo taken with Kermit as scene in the movie Muppets take Manhattan. After we asked for dessert menus and he brought them, he completely forgot about us for twenty minutes as he handled a larger party at the far corner of the restaurant. There was no excuse for this because it was during the theater hour and the restaurant was practically empty! We finally resorted to flagging down another server and asked her to take our dessert order. Also, why did a simple order for espresso then take fifteen minutes? Again, the restaurant was practically empty. The serving staff here has got to get its act together. This is a must that when you are on Broadway, well this is what we always thought, and I agree! You can come for the nostalgia or a great meal. Of course you're find hundreds of caricature on the walls of celebrities who have either stopped in to say hello, dine or want their place on the wall. That in itself is a good time. On to the experience. Of course the service was impeccable prompt, friendly, clean down to (or up to) the attendant in the ladies room. Let's not look for any updates on the Decour but that's what makes this place iconic. There is a vast menu and plenty to drink. I went at lunchtime before a matinee show on Broadway. The pork chops with a potato and broccoli rabe was perfection. I have to say I truly enjoyed myself I did get a decent amount of food for my money. I mean...it's just "ok", especially at these prices. Stopped in for lunch with some friends who were going to a matinee play, during mid week. On average, burger and turkey club w/ fries is going to run you $26 + tax and tip. Entrees and lunch specials, go up from there. It took way too long for our simple order to pop out. (about 45 mins) and there were only about 3 other tables occupied when we arrived during the open. Second...the waiters "hover". Almost right in the center of the room. It got annoying when they kept asking us if we wanted more bread, and filling our water glasses up. Almost intrusive. My friends had their hearts set on this place, but it would never be my first choice, and there are simply too many other options in the area. It's one of those modern day stories. I selected Sardi's because it was close to where a former colleague was staying while in NYC for business. I arrived early and had a pleasant conversation with the bartender while waiting for my party to arrive. He served an excellent bourbon Manhattan. Food was very good. I had a shrimp cake appetizer, jumbo shrimp entree and apple crumb cake. Prices were reasonable. Wine list is limited. My only issue was that although the restaurant was not crowded, we felt rushed. I hadn't seen this former colleague in a few years and we had a lot of catching up to do, but the wait staff seemed impatient and while not rude, they were not very friendly. I politely asked if they were closing soon (it was only around 8pm) as a way of expressing my displeasure. Overall, the food, prices, ambiance and convenient location were great. I just wished I didn't feel rushed, especially when the place seemed somewhat empty. I'll give them another chance though. read more

This place screams old Manhattan. The gaudy entrance, red carpeting and dining room with tables and chairs everywhere are all about the people watching and over the top New York experience. The food that I've tried was beautifully plated and tasted great. I definitely recommend the scallops, the cobb salad, the steak and the burger. They offer a prix fixe and specials menu which are a good deal. Sardi's is great for a pre-theater meal or drink as they are great with handling timing of the food and the service is generally attentive. All of the cartoon portraits on the walls of the whole restaurant are great for conversation and intriguing out of town guests. Nonetheless, this is a great spot to check out for residents of the City as well. Think of it as on the same level as having to visit the Empire State building or the statue of Liberty; it's a rite of passage. The bathrooms are upstairs, near the second dining room and cocktail bar. Heading to the restrooms, one passes the free coat check room and also allows for exploring the venue. No one minds you getting up to view the portraits, so have at it. Overall a nice venue, admittedly pricey but, very worthy of checking out. Even if it's just to say you did, although you'll be happily surprised. read more

In the heart of Times Square this restaurant has been around for quite a long time and has been visited by many celebrities over the years. The interior provides a warm and comfortable feel as a classic steakhouse will. The staff are extremely attentive, and want to ensure your satisfaction. They have a wonderful wine menu to choose from. I ordered a Caesar to start with which was very well prepared. I moved onto the 10 oz sirloin which was cooked perfectly. They have excellent sides to compliment, I enjoy the potatoes. Whether it be pre-theatre or post theatre you will thoroughly enjoy your meal. Going to a show then it's like you can't have Broadway without Sardis. The restaurant has been around and a broadway staple for 100 years. Actors and actresses and shows producers have all dined here.Server Cassie and Maitre D Naseef always make sure everything is perfect for me. Canneloni. Club sandwich or burgers are good as are the salads.The Shubert organization knew the importance of Sardis returning after the pandemic and allowed them to go rent free for the 21 months they were closed. We have been dining at Sardi's for years mainly because of the excellent service and Shawn and Ivan making us feel at home! We were very disappointed to find out they were no longer with them but we were quickly met with a very pleasant surprise by the new maitre d, Betsy. Young, fresh, caring and genuine, she made us quickly feel right back at the home away from home that we remember. My husband and I agree that seeing a manager genuinely care about not only the customers but staff as well brings a whole new level to hospitality. Our server, Brandon, was also a great team addition. He was kind and attentive and even sent us a dessert! Although some of our favorite items were no longer on the menu, we had a lovely experience and are excited to return to the new and improved Sardi's! read more

My review of Sardi's restaurant. This is a very beautiful and elegant restaurant with a lot of history. Many famous actors in movie stars have pretty much everyone from Lucille Ball to Gracie Allen, just to name a couple. However I was not impressed with the food especially since I got McDonald's french fries with my cheeseburger. But then that might be my fault for not ordering something like shrimp scampi or lobster ravioli. However I have to say for a restaurant this fancy you would think they would make their own hand cut french fries. And that's all I have to say about that. read more

Classic new York Italian restaurant with decades worth of caricatures. It's definitely the usually place I would frequent as it is very touristy, but we went with a work group. The food was fine and the ambiance fun, but the service was truly great. The staff really knows their business which is great. Made a reservation for the same evening to see Sunset Blvd. Only time slot that was available was for 6:30PM which I thought was cutting it close since we have an 88-year-old senior with us. The reservationist assured us that we had plenty of time. When we arrived, we were seated immediately, and the servers were ready to go. Cassie, our primary server, was amazing. Very kind to our 88-year-old mother/mother-in-law and did everything to make her feel special and getting us out on time to make the show. Thank you, Cassie. Well-known, American restaurant where actors would stop by after their performances. Right next to all the Broadway theaters, so it's very conveniently located if you're heading to a show right before or after. Atmosphere: It's a mix - some folks were dressed very nicely for shows, whereas others were much more casual. It overall has a casual vibe. The coolest part about this place are all the caricatures of famous celebrities posted along the wall. The servers were friendly, but ours was not super attentive. Generally (70%+) seemed like they were in the 50-60 year old age range. The service was quite slow - we waited for around 30 minutes for some chicken sandwiches and fries. Highlight: A huge shout-out to the woman that ran the bathroom stalls. She had such a positive attitude and made sure all the women passed through very efficiently! Major props to her - I only wish I got her name to thank her! Food: Pretty below average, honestly, and definitely overpriced. We ordered a few chicken sandwiches, which were just little portions of grilled chicken, thrown together with some lettuce, and bread that was not toasted well. The sandwiches also were too dry and required more mayo. The weirdest thing was - after we got our water, the server came over with an excessive amount of ketchup, for each member of our group - we each literally got our own dish of ketchup. I thought to myself - to what end?? And what's even funnier - the food did not come out for at least 30 minutes AFTER the excessive ketchup came out. It's almost like they intended us to eat the ketchup as appetizers or something. Very very bizarre. Overall: 2/5 - I'd only come back for convenience and to stare at all the caricatures. This is a historic restaurant so I had to eat here between Broadway shows. Of all the places I ate on my own this restaurant did not seat me in a corner. They had just reopened as I over heard. I was seated near theater actors and show goers. The service was excellent and my food good Italian fair. It goes without saying that the ambiance was interesting with all the famous people's drawings on the wall of people who have frequented the restaurant. 2nd Floor Bar review. Came in with VERY HIGH EXPECTATIONS! It was after a show on a Saturday night. Sat down at the bar and once settled in the young bartender ignores me and asks 5 other patrons what they would like. I had to ask to order. Not the best bartenders in NYC. Ordered Merlot which was house and it was pretty good. Also, tried the Creme Brûlée which was just ok. It was 1/4 inch thick and really no flavor. Ate 6 bites and was done. It just did not have the flavor to make me want to eat it all. It's described as real vanilla flavor and it did not taste much like vanilla. Also, I watched the bartender walk through the bar opening with my Creme Brûlée but he stopped and chatted with his coworkers for a minute or so before he served me. Old guy bartender clearing tables behind me and passing dirty dishes and glasses on either side of me. So am dodging this mess. So rude and lazy. Get a tray and clear the tables and walk around the bar. Do things the right way. I do love the star caricatures on the wall which is cool but other than that pass on Sardi's as it's old and tired. Three of us went for dinner at Sardi's last night before a show. I had Spaghetti and Meatballs and the other two each ordered the appetizer portion of Canelloni. They enjoyed their Canellloni. My pasta meal was "okay" - not amazing. I did enjoy the meatballs - very tasty. The sauce was pretty basic marinara. The pasta was the thickest spaghetti noodles I've ever had. A bit hard to get into your mouth :) In all, it was a decent meal in a classic setting and we were not rushed. read more
