My favorite bbq joint (Smoky Dreams) is closed for the week, so on recommendation from a friend I stopped by SBH and grabbed a pound of brisket and a side of onion rings to share with my husband at work for his birthday lunch. No complaints at all, it's delicious and we weren't disappointed with the flavor, level of smoking, tenderness, and how juicy it was! The onion rings were great too. Very good and fairly priced. The ribs here are a 10 out of 10. Definitely the best I've ever had!!! The flavor is incredible and they fall right off the bone. We'll definitely be back for ribs!!! The brisket was ok as well. It came out cold unfortunately. A few things we didn't love. The bbq sauces. The sweet one tasted like very strongly molasses which I don't love The house was was overpowered by cumin and straight up nasty to both me and my husband The dinners came with one side and sausage it was ok. We both would much much prefer another side over the sausage The Mac and cheese side was tiny and pretty mid but the poblano creamed corn was amazing and definitely a better sized portion !! The food came so fast! We barely even sat down and it was brought to us. The pulled pork was also very good. Between the two of us we couldn't finish and just HAD to take the rest home. Yesterday we tried SBH for the first time since we moved from GA to SC and were so happy to find a GREAT BBQ JOINT! We had tried a different barbecue restaurant when we moved and weren't very pleased. At SBH we ate brisket sandwiches, pork belly, mac & cheese, coleslaw, and onion rings. As a family we all tried each other's and EVERYTHING was good! It's a great sign when a bbq joint runs out of food. The pork ran out when we got dinner around 4:45/5pm last night. The wings were tasty and I liked them. I may order them again, however I don't like that they don't have Alabama white sauce or blue cheese for them. The last time I left a review for this place it was 5 stars. This time not so much. I ran by this evening to get a meal for supper tonight. My order was 1 full slab ribs. 1.5lb of pulled pork, 4 jalapeño tornadoes, 1 pt of bake beans and 1 pt of sweet potato crunch. $125.00 was the price. 6 months ago we ordered this very thing and it was 65.00. We also have had them cater in the past for a group of about 16 and only paid 350.00. I mean I get prices going up, but come on. Food is good. Girl at register had a snotty attitude and gave nothing but impatient and snappy answers as if it was an inconvenience to ask anything. It wasn't even that busy, she just wanted to be rude I guess. People like this make you not want to come back. The guy actually putting the order together was considerate and pleasant. Don't ruin a good establishment with people that shouldn't handle customer service because they frankly don't appear to like people. Won't come back for a while. read more

Holy cow the brisket!!!! We ordered a 1/2 pound to eat in and 2 pounds to go. When the brisket hit the kitchen at home, it was gone in seconds flat. Absolute star of the show is the brisket. Well we were very excited to try this place. Then reality struck and we actually did. Let me tell you it's probably one of the worst BBQ places for its value I ever been to. My pulled pork bbq plate ended up somehow being almost $15. What? The actual food was ok but considering how much I paid it was kind of a rip off. The sides were not included and was part of the reason it was $15. I could have paid that much for 2 meals at Charlie's and maybe at Bucky's with sides included. A friend of mine got wings without any sauce like ranch. He couldn't find a station for sauces so he had to go up and ask for it. They might have to do something about the way they go about their business but I don't know if I'll be back here considering there are other places that are cheaper and just as good if not better. read more

I ordered two frogman sandwiches and two pints of sides, a half pound of shredded pork and two banana puddings. The sandwiches were good. The sides were disappointing. The Mac and cheese was a little dry and tasteless and the beans were just ok. I always look for a sweet potato crunch when eating BBQ but they did not offer it. The shredded pork was fair but didn't have much taste. The banana pudding was pretty good. Light and creamy. I was shocked that the food came to $49. Two adults and two kids for $49? I asked for a detailed receipt just to make sure. What made me mad was the pints were not even filled to the top- only about 3/4 way. This was a nice find for lunch, and a short distance from the office. When you walk in you are greeted by someone. All three up front said welcome to me, great customer service. I ordered the SOB beans and a hot link, beans were good and the hot link was good but could use a little more heat in the mix. They have three sauces, the sweet, the house and the vinegar mustard . Things that were ok: baked beans-different but nothing special, macaroni-made more to kids taste with a cheesy whiz kind of cheese, fries-heat lamp crinkle fries. Things I didn't like: sauces-very strong flavors, very dark and molassesee, kinda pricy-$15 a person, ala carte menu. Observations: Kitchen in back is very inefficient with prep/plating in the front- the staff is constantly going back and forth. The meat isn't very smoky tasting. The smoke ring doesn't go very deep. Was skeptical of the reviews as I have not been a fan of most of what bbq options have been available in Greenville. But I have to say that this is the best bbq in Greenville. I got a judge's plate which offered a sample of all of their pork options. The ribs were tasty and fall of the bone. However, they don't belong in the same conversation as the sausage, the pork medallions, and the brisket. The pork medallions were phenomenal. Please add this to the regular menu if it isn't there already. The sausage is excellent, good flavor and just a slight kick to it. I am a fan of Smokey Dreams brisket and this brisket definitely gives them a run for their money. I tried most of the sides. The beans are very tasty, have a good amount of meat chunks, and I can see why the beans are award winning. The mac and cheese is creamy without hard bits of plastic-like cheese that you get at places that do it baked. The cole slaw is vinegar based but not overpowering. It definitely compliments the bbq well. Parking is pretty easy. They have their own lot. You order at the counter and then take a seat. Staff was very friendly. Overall, this is my number 1 option for bbq in Greenville. read more

I wanted to give this place a couple of goes before writing a review. Lunch lines can be a little long. I don't mind waiting as everyone is clearly working hard and taking time to make sure each customer is heard and taken care of. I've had both the brisket and the pork nachos now. Both plates were of the highest quality, not just thrown together to get my money and get me out the door. Quality isn't all though, as the quantity is very generous as well. You will not leave hungry (if you do it's your own fault). Everything is á la carte so make sure you specify the side(s) you want - pick the mac 'n' cheese. So glad this place is close to work. The only reason that I'm giving 4 stars is because I haven't tried the ribs as they are a go order. The frogman sandwich was terrific with just the right amount of seasoning and condiments on top. This is some really good BBQ! I came in based on a glowing recommendation from a friend of mine and I was not disappointed. I ordered the Judges Plate because I like to try a variety of items especially on my first visit. The pork medallions were delicious, the sausage was great as well. The brisket was just okay but based on the reviews it may have just been an off day. I would definitely give the brisket another chance. The beans were tasty but a bit mushy like they had been in the steam pan a little bit too long. The Ribs though! Those were legit!! Competition winning, the real deal.
