I'm more of a donut gal when it comes to baked goods, but Schmackary's cookies are a sweet treat I would go back for again and again. After dinner my companions and I decided to indulge in dessert, and since Schmackary's was closest we decided to stop by. Even if I hadn't read about it beforehand, I still would've come in. The storefront is spectacular and completely eye catching. I love the vintage vibe, which seems even more quaint when you compare it to the gaudiness of the awful Thai restaurants a block away (talking about you Yum Yum). Since it was the end of the night the place was pretty empty, so we had time to look over their offerings without holding up the line. Since there were three of us we decided to go for the 6 cookies for $14 deal, made more sense than buying them all whilly nilly. We wound up getting a pick of the patch, sch'mores, maple bacon, classic chocolate chip, caramel apple crisp, and yogi bare cookie. The cookies got packed away in the cutest little box and I carefully lugged them back to our place. I didn't want to break them. Which seemed pretty likely considering how huge they were. Way bigger than your average cookie. When we got home we immediately dug in, starting off with the caramel apple crisp, maple bacon, and yogi bare. Of the three, the yogi bare was the weakest. Still good, but it just couldn't compare to the other two. The maple bacon in particular. It had the perfect salty-sweetness. And if you like apple pie, go for the apple crisp. We had the other three the next day and they were tasty too! The classic chocolate chip was the weakest this round, nothing special, but damn good with a glass of milk. I liked the sch'mores cookie, but it was incredibly messy. The marshmallow topping was super sticky and wound up getting all over my hands. From best to worst it'd go maple bacon, caramel apple crisp, sch'mores, pick of the patch, classic chocolate chip, yogi bare. If you go to Schmackary's (and I recommend that you do) you should get the maple bacon. It has a really tasty flavor profile. Totally worth the $2.75 per cookie. One of my friends actually liked the cookies so much, that a week later he stopped by to get more. read more

Yum!! Going to NYC, I had done my research on the sweet spots to hit while there! This is one that kept showing up and I couldn't resist! While showing some family around Times Square we took a slight detour to the Theatre District to get one of these cookies! There was a line out the door but that didn't scare us away! How could it with the scrumptious aroma of cookies floating out of the building and straight into my sniffer! MMM! The line didn't take long and we ordered our cookies! We got a couple chocolate chip, a couple funfetti and my husband got the cereal killer with marshmallow frosting! The funfetti: YESSSS! I had the red velvet cake and the chocolate fudge (that just came out of the kitchen) in an ice cream cookie sandwich. The texture was just like a boxed hard Mrs.Field's cookie. Hidden in a highly commercialized area is Schmackery's, a cool little coffee shop that feels like it should be on the corner of 11th and 1st Ave, rather than right by Times Square. Great coffee selection, and cookies. I only tried the Flutter Nutter, a peanut butter cookie with marshmellow icing, but it was delicious. Their other flavors, such as Maple Bacon, Blueberry Cobbler, and Cookies and Cream are creative and look SO yummy. Would definitely stop by here again for an afternoon snack during the work week. read more

If you have a sweet tooth (a VERY sweet tooth), and also love to get highly caffeinated, then this place should probably become your second home. According to some of the other reviewers, this is their second home! Alas, that's not the case for me, although this is a very good place to get cookies. I tried the blueberry cookie, and it was good and fresh, but SWEET. I know cookies are supposed to be sweet, but I wanted to wash mine down with two glasses of milk. I had no idea that I would love cookies with cream cheese frosting before I ate here! Now I want to ice all my cookies! Found this bakery while walking around the area (hidden down a road) I went straight in and brought a Red Velvet cookie and a Cookie and Cream cookie. Both were amazing. Over my holiday I ate a cookie from here nearly every night (please don't judge...), so also got to try their normal chocolate chip cookie (without icing), my boyfriend tried their oatmeal and also a vanilla cookie with icing and sprinkles (I think its called funfetti). All were good apart from the oatmeal. It gets very busy in here, and lines can form out the shop. However, you get served quick and the staff were all nice (apart from one lady who rolled her eyes at me because I don't think she understood what I was asking for, then just turned away without saying anything else...). I love this place! This is the best cookie shop that I have been to thus far. It is a small place, but they carry a wide assortment of creative cookies. Maple bacon is my favorite cookie. The saltiness and smoke from the bacon pair well with the sweetness from the maple syrup. The classic chocolate chip cookie is very good and very moist. Somehow they have captured the exact texture of a cookie when it first comes out of the oven. The flavors in most of their cookies, for example the caramel apple crisp, are spot on. Then there are flavors like sch'mores that are not. Now don't get me wrong, the sch'mores is still an excellent cookie, but it does not taste like an s'mores to me. I could go on and on about the cookies I have tried and love, but I won't bore you with those details. My New Yorker buddy recommended this place after we had dinner. We thought the name was hilarious and decided to try it out. We got the classic chocolate chip and sweet corn cookies. The cookies were extremely soft and also moist, which I love. But they were so soft that they kept falling apart when I tried to eat them. Okay, this is a re-review. I have now been to Schmackary's 4 TIMES to try and understand this beautifully designed cookie shop. 3x in a row I went hoping to find a piece of heaven. **Addition: Visit #5 tried the FLUFFER NUTTER. It ROCKS!!! Better than the Red Velvet. It's truly fluffy and not to sugary wet. The marshmallow icing is awesommmme! My star count will go up to 4 if I find a 3rd cookie that rocks. The number of bad cookies is still weighing my star-count down** Well, on visit #4 I found it! THE RED VELVET COOKIE!! This is what I was looking for. This is what I want red velvet to be like all the time. The cocoa within is so perfectly rich and the cookie almost chews like a cake but still maintains it's cookie dough-ness. Now this is 1 out of probably 5 different cookies I've tried. I tried the Chunky Monkey too and it wasn't so bad. I liked that it wasn't too sweet. I could have eaten it as a breakfast cookie. I would have liked it to be tad bit more moist and chewy. The other cookies I had were the Funfetti -- way too buttery, sugary. It was moist but in a bad way. Maybe not enough flour or something Choco-chip was the same way for me too. But then some people love the choco - hope they are using the same recipe each time... Chocolate Diablo cookie had some paprika in it. It was alright. It was exotic but lacked that cocoa goodness that the Red Velvet cookie had. Now that I have had the Red Velvet, I will go back a 5th time to try and find another redeeming cookie to hopefully bump my stars up to 4 stars. Still hovering at 3. This is the place to go if you have a sweet tooth. My favorite is the Sh'mores cookie. It is a chocolate and graham cracker cookie with chunks of chocolate running all the way through it topped with torched marshmallow fluff. Delicious. They offer unique flavors which change everyday including cookies like corn and jalapeño, maple bacon, and Rice Krispie treats made from lucky charms cereal or cinnamon toast crunch. The coffee is standard but the cookies are simply addicting. Cookies are $2.75 each or 2 for 5 and if you go early enough you can sometimes snag day old cookies (which are just as good) for $1 a piece. read more

Most successfully unique flavors: Sweet Corn and Ginger Rogers. They're both distinct in taste and not overwhelming. I'm not even a huge fan of molasses cookies, but the Ginger Rogers were so on point! Personal favorites: Green Tea, Strawberries and Creme Classic vibes: The Classic Chocolate Chip will never do you wrong, and will be faithful to you until the end. S'mores also tastes super cute, they put honey underneath the toasted marshmallow! Overrated: Maple Bacon. The bacon overpowered the entire cookie and it was just too heavy. Within a week or so from my 2 star review, the owner reached out to me to apologize for the experience and made everything right. She went out of her way to make sure she made up for the customer service snafu. Definitely don't try to surprise someone with a gift from here!! Amazingly, after posting this complaint they simply cancelled my order unilaterally. I guess I'll have to triple check my credit card bill too, with this level of animosity. And NO, it was completely unclear from your website that this was A) outside of your delivery range and B) that the delivery date would be so delayed. A good marketer actually includes such info in the confirmation email btw, and has customer support responding politely, that "We are sorry for the inconvenience". I really enjoyed the cookie and macaroon (schmackaroon) I got here. The peanutbutter banana cookie was more peanut buttery and I did not get a strong hint of banana but I liked it all the same. It had a salty taste to it and the peanut butter was rich. The names of the items are tres cute. I liked the coconut Schmackaroon. It has an odd flavoring at first, something they use on the top of it but once you get chewing the flavor gets rid of all that into lulls of awesome macaroony goodness. Yes so good I had to make up a word... Don't judge me. You wont go wrong with this place if your in the mood for a good old fashioned cookie with a warm feel. The place is cute and quaint, the cookies are a good size i feel for the price of 2.75. They also accept card. They had red velvet cookies, sea salt chocolate chip cookies and different bars to try. Milk was also sold and a variety of other beverages to go with your sweet tooth. The location is really convenient, and they always have a ton of awesome flavors. On my last trip I had the Chocolate Pretzel, and split a Funfetti with a friend. Both were delicious, as expected. I mean, they're cookies! I don't know that I've ever had a bad cookie in my life. Though Schmackary's are exceptionally delicious. And everyone who works there is awesome! Red velvet - maybe red velvet cupcakes are just so much better, but I was not impressed. The layer of frosting was not very memorable, and the cookie itself was very sweet. Chunky monkey - oatmeal cookies are my favorite, and I was surprised that this was the first one that I ate that I didn't like! I prefer my cookies soft over crunch and moist over flakey. I've always loved this place, but I recently ordered cookies to be sent to a friend for Halloween and it was a disaster. I picked 4 different kinds and the next day they called me to tell me one flavor was sold out so I picked another. Everything was all set. When my friend received the order, it was only 3 types of cookies, one of them being a flavor that I did not pick. When I called to ask what happened, I was told they made an "executive decision" to change my order. If I had known the order had to change, I would have picked new flavors myself! They had called to ask the first time, but then decided that was too much work? They also told me that since the cookies were delivered, they won't give me a refund. I am extremely frustrated and cannot believe the poor quality of customer service that I have experienced. I will not order from here again. read more

After brunch at the nearby Southern Hospitality, I couldn't fit another thing in my belly. ...until I saw Schmackary's. In that case, I could find room. Cookies have, in the past few years, become my go-to dessert. A good cookie can be anything that any other dessert can be: savory, rich, sweet, all inclusive, frosted, stuffed, covered with ice cream, etc. Crispy cookies have their merit where chewy cookies have their as well. There's so much to consider with a cookie, and it all excites me. So needless to say, when walking by a cookie place, i'm going to try it. I wasn't immediately impressed by the cookie selection, so i went with a classic chocolate chip. This thing was awesome. Chewy and melty, with great consistency, fantastic flavor and not too over the top. The salt was a little inconsistently spread throughout the cookie (some bites were just way too salty), but overall, this is a great cookie. I'd love to try a peanut butter one from here, but they had none on this day. Bummer. But an awesome start for a place that's new to me. read more
