    Dim sum
    Caitlin V.

I grew up having dim sum with my family as a kid. It brings me nostalgia and fond memories whenever I think about it. I went to Seafood Cove after years of not having dim sum. It was my first time and it was pretty good. I was happy with the food and the company was great. Parking fills up quickly. We got there in the morning and had to wait a few minutes for a spot.

Literally my favorite dim sum place to exist, I make the 30 minute drive here whenever I'm craving dim sum because it's the best in the OC area. The dim sum is HUGEEE, especially the siu mai. The size really makes it so much juicier and satisfying to bite through, and it's packed with so much pork and shrimp. The siu mai is definitely my favorite, but other go-tos for the table are the har gow, sticky rice, ham sui gok, bbq pork rice rolls, and chicken feet. I also tried a new dish this most recent time, the tofu skin wrapped dumpling, and it was really good, I'll have to add this one to my regular order! It's definitely already a super popular spot, especially for large parties, so I'd recommend going early or getting takeout!

So popular but the wait wasn't too bad, it was like a 20 minute wait on a Saturday around 1pm. Once we got seated, you order from a picture menu with the server. I don't remember the last time I came here but I think it used to be carts but this is more efficient. We ordered the usual dim sum items, shrimp rolls, har gow, shu mai, chicken feet, soup dumplings, steam tofu skin roll, and pork ribs. The portion was big and we had left overs. Definitely cheaper here than San Diego. Hit the dim sum spot.

Came to dim sum for the first time since covid. Just as good as we remembered! Perhaps better hubby recalls some of the dim sum dishes (siu mai) being smaller so he ordered two orders but they were larger. This was my sister and her family's first time trying dim sum (house tofu, siu mai, chicken feet, chinese leek dumplings, etc. and other regular menu dishes (house special fried rice and lo mein). It was a pretty good experience. Everyone liked the food for the most part. Brother in law really liked the siu mai but thought chicken legs were chewy/slimy. Hubby liked the chicken legs. Hubby ordered a Vietnamese coffee that was very strong. My sister got a passion fruit drink and my brother in law got a thai tea and a corona. Service was efficient and friendly. My kids ate fried rice and tried some of the dim sum dishes. Restaurant was quite busy, lively, and somewhat loud. Good and filling visit.

This review is mainly for their dim sum :) Dim sum is served everyday from 8:30am-3pm! Service was great during that time and everyone was friendly. It's nice to go on a weekday morning when there is barely anyone there which is what my husband and I did. Their selection is pretty good and everything tastes great but it can definitely add up on the bill. Overall, I think it is one of the better places to grab dim sum :)

Super disappointed Would not come back. The dim sum was subpar. Ha Gow and Sui mai were not terrible but not great. The cheung fun was overcooked. The XLB soup dumplings were over salty on the dough. Everything was overly salty.

Came to Seafood Cove 2 on a Saturday night for a friend's birthday dinner with a group of 9, and it was such a fun experience. We went all out and ordered a ton of dishes including clams in basil, lobster, Peking duck, honey walnut shrimp, and shaken beef. Everything came out fresh, flavorful, and perfect for sharing. Honestly, every dish was a hit with the table. Service was great throughout the night. Our server even brought the lobster out for a quick photo op before it was taken back to be prepared, which made the night feel a little more special. We ended up with around 12 main entrees plus some drinks, and the total was surprisingly affordable for the amount of food we ordered. Definitely a solid spot for group dinners and celebrations. Only downside is parking can be a bit tricky, especially on a busy weekend night, so plan a little extra time for that. Overall, would absolutely come back!

The establishment needs to address how the line starts and where it starts. I came before they open and when they opened there was a big crowd in a circle.

Rating: 7.5/10 Authentic dimsum spot. We went here at 8:30am on Easter morning and it was poppin. They have everything here, and all dishes were authentic and solid. Would recommend!

One of my favorite places for dim sum. Only negative is the parking since it's in a high density area across from the landmark Asian Garden mall. We had a large party of 12 but food came out quickly amd wait staff was so pleasant! Everything was delicious and service was top notch, thanks to Iris! Everything we ordered was delicious: Shrimp noodle rice sheet rolls, fried shrimp ball, football, fried taro ball, almond tea soufflé (takes 40 minutes), spongy rice cake, steamed tofu skin roll, siu mai, chicken feet, beef tripe, pork ribs, sticky rice in lotus leaf, fried pork buns, Chinese broccoli with oyster sauce, braised honeycomb tripe with pork blood, and hot & sour soup.

Classic dim sum spot for any local. I went in a group of 4 on a Sunday around 10:15am and the wait was probably 10-15 minutes. The wait definitely got a lot longer closer to 11 though and I saw a lot of people waiting outside when I was leaving. You can join the Yelp waitlist online before getting there but you have to be within a 1 mile radius. Although the wait can get long, I would say the service is pretty efficient and they're quick getting people in and out Also, a good amount of items are ordered with the servers, but some items have to be ordered from the people pushing the carts around Siu mai: 5/5 this is always one of my favs and the pieces here were juicy and decently sized Har gow: 4/5 I like this dish but it wasn't anything crazy Soup dumplings: 4/5 I wish there was more soup and the dumpling wrapper was a little thinner but I liked the flavor Chinese broccoli w/ oyster sauce: 4/5 this was alright Shrimp rice noodle: 5/5 this is also one of my fav dim sum dishes

Came here on a Sunday at 9am. Location is on the 2nd floor. We used to frequent this place but have not been back for a few years. Mostly because the wait can get crazy if you arrive after 10:30 so we end up going to the Dim Sum company instead. Dragged myself out of bed to fight for myself in that parking lot. When we arrived we had to wait about 10 minutes. There were plenty of tables open but for bigger parties, which is understandable. When we got there we were told most of the items have to be ordered through the server with the exceptions of a few items. The servers were pretty attentive. It wasn't too crowded so they were able to pause a bit longer than they used to. We always joked that you'd have to bring your own water because it would be kind of hard to flag an employee down. But they're always super friendly. Due to a big open seating and the nature of its service, prepare for the hustle & bustle. Just an FYI if you have kids that are sensitive to loud noises & gets overstimulated. Fried seaweed roll: the regular filling (pork & shrimp) wrapped in seaweed and deep fried. My favorite. Fried seaweed gives it great umami. Pickled cucumber : very crunchy with spice Soup dumplings & Har Gow: admittedly, I did not try the soup dumplings but Har Gow was good. Different sauces were offered: sweet & sour, chili crunch, sriracha, & Chinese mustard (mustard must be requested) Leek Dumplings: this one surprised me. I've never had it before but it was very juicy and flavorful Salted Lava Bun: gooey salted egg yolk in the middle. The sweet & salty makes a great pair. The texture of the salted egg is grainy/sandy texture. This is its normal texture. Siu Mai: a staple. Big pieces and super juicy Sticky Rice: sticky and full of flavor. Great place but arrive early or be prepared to wait. We left around 10am and at that time there were 15 people waiting.

Variety including sui mai, fried seaweed roll, pork ribs, veggies, sausage bun, & 2 wet rolls (shrimp, pork).

    * Who: friend, partner, & I * What: random lunch * When: Thursday around noon * Why: random day off & craving dim sum * Space/Decor: located on the second floor. Parking could be a pain b/c it's always busy whenever I've gone. The space seems a bit cleaner & updated compared to the last time I went, with plenty of natural light coming from the windows, & an overall large space. * Service: standard. They were quick to seat us, they took our order fairly fast, & the food came out in good time. Not sure if the carts had stopped since the food came directly from the kitchen. They were also out of 1-2 drinks that we wanted. * Food: we got a variety of dishes, all of which were yum. The pricing is fair but can add up depending on how much you order. Everything was pretty much as expected. * Final Thoughts: authentic, semi-hidden dim sum spot that brings quality food without unnecessary frills at a good price. Would recommend & would definitely return. * Final Grade: B+ or 8.5/10

The beef with the scallion pancakes was sooo tender. The cucumber salad was extra refreshing with the perfect balance of savory and tangy. You also can't ever go wrong with spicy wontons, pan fried buns, popcorn chickens, or braised green beans. Yum! Huge bonus: the restaurant is directly connected to Ben Gong's Tea. Green beans are flavorful and crispy as well! Hot and sour soup is HUGE. They aren't consistent in making this because some days it's the perfect balance of tangy and spicy flavor, but other times its tooooo sour. The restaurant is very spacious. Turns out, it wasn't nearly as crowded as before - though spoiler: the price has increased a lot (I want to say it was $25/lb 10 years ago, and now is $37/lb). Keep in mind too, you can't get a small amount like 1lb - usually it's gonna be 3+lb so your bill is easily going to hit mid-$100 to $200s from the lobster alone. That being said, many people swear this is the best, and that's why they can charge whatever they want. I'm actually allergic to lobster (lol) but am a team player so I just sampled it for the funsies, and had to get another dish to actually eat (went with the beef lok luk). My family said the lobster noodle was good, but not like, fantastic (which we were expecting not fantastic but yeah, mostly came here to a family meeting.) The beef lok luk was also pretty good like, 4.3 of 5 - we just had another version at Paradise which was astounding (like 4.6) though also more expensive and pretty far away. Overall, not sure if we'll come back again as we're more curious about the copycats that have popped up which might be 80% as good and much more affordable. Stay tuned! :)

This helped us get a table much faster than we would have than if we had just shown up and waited. We ordered the large family meal, and there were 12 of us. We also ordered the Newport Lobster, fish fillet with black bean sauce, and an extra shrimp fried rice. Overall, I think the food was good, and the prices are reasonable (except the lobster, which was pricey, as you might expect from anything listed as "market price"). Most of us in the group thought the fish fillet with black bean sauce was the best. I thought it was very good, but not necessarily fantastic. (There are other Chinese restaurants that do it a little better.) The sauce was very good, but the fish wasn't quite as tender as it can be. Definitely a solid 4 stars. Other dishes were good. I think the scallop soup could have been great for some people, but my wife and I both hate cilantro, and there was a ton of cilantro. The pork was also good, and my friends thought the clams were also really good. I found the fried rice a bit bland. And for both the lobster and the crab, they could have made them a little easier to eat by cracking the shells a bit more for us. I hate fighting with my food ... And there was a fair amount of fighting on these 2 dishes. The lobster cost almost much as all the other dishes combined. It certainly looked amazing. And the sauce was very good. But I found most of it a bit overcooked. Maybe it was our fault for asking for a big one. Maybe a smaller lobster might have been cooked a little less. The great sauce (along with the fighting with the shell) might have covered up the fact that the meat was actually a bit tough and rubbery. I don't think I'd order this again. The service was very friendly and pretty fast. And, again, other than the lobster, the pieces were pretty reasonable.

Have been to this restaurant many times, and food is always consistent! Came visit to the restaurant last week, and ordered my favorite Grilled Escargot with Garlic Butter and Peppercorn, Grilled Scallops with Cheese, and my all-time favorite Chilean Sea Bass hot pot! The grilled escargots are a must-have when visiting this place! These are perfectly grilled with rich garlic butter for sweetness, and with a slight kick of spiciness from the peppercorn. Don't forget to also dip the escargot meat with black pepper and a few squeeze of fresh lime juice! If you like melted cheese, then the grilled scallops with cheese would be the perfect match. Each scallop is covered melted cheese and comes sizzling on a hot plate when ordered! Last but certainly not least, my favorite dish of this restaurant is the Chilean Sea Bass hot pot. The order comes with your own tabletop gas stove, along with a hot pot filled with a tom yum like sour soup base. For ingredients, it also includes a plate with slices of pineapple, quarter cut fresh tomato slices, fresh bean sprouts, rice noodles, and a full plate of large pieces of Chilean Sea Bass. Just put all the ingredients in the hot pot and let it cook for 5-10mins on high, I promise you it is one of the best soups you will ever have! Service is good as always. This place always seems to be busy, so you may have to be on the waitlist during certain business hours (eg holidays, prime dinner time, etc). Parking wise, the restaurant is located in a busy plaza, and so you may have to drive around a few times before finding an open spot. However as I said earlier, it's worth the wait.
