This is a sad review - The waitress was less than polite, borderland rude. On 1/29/21 around 2:45, we entered a restaurant we have loved for years with a service dog (small breed trained Chihuahua in a carry bag). The waitress never greeted us, but in front of all the diners, and without a mask, "barked" at my wife the word "no" three times. I can assure you the pun is just for fun, but the rudeness was not fun. We are not Mask nuts, and my wife is no Karin but man I had my Father in law with us and he is no spring chicken (just kidding Dad) but still, we look out for him, you know? Talk, about a bad scene at a great restraint. But read on... The State Law was being broken along with our hearts. My wife, my father-in-law, my Mom, my daughter, and I including the rest family have been going to this restaurant since it first opened on A-1-A. The owner is a hard-working fair man and we have a deep respect for him so we turned around and left immediately as to not disrupt his dining room. The waitress has a hard job and she could have been under a lot of stress, but the Law is the law, and rudeness seconded by missing out on one of our favorite places to eat was a bummer. I was in Ponte Vedra Florida for a meeting. I could smell the ocean from the office. I needed a local seafood fix. Seafood Kitchen Is an unpretentious, friendly, seafood shack filled with locals who know where to get fresh seafood as reasonable prices. I had a sweet tea, cup of crab chowder (yep crab chowder) and a side of fried shrimp. Man was it good. The sweet tea was house made and was sweet but not overly so. I had seconds. The crab chowder arrived looking like clam chowder but beneath the surface was a wonderfully creamy, buttery broth filled with recognizable :) crab throughout. So so tasty as my so would say! The side of shrimp must have had a dozen butterflied shrimp which were lightly breaded and fried. Well done! The restaurant had 15-20 tables and ample friendly wait staff. My server took my order quickly, brought my drink quickly and my food served nice and hot. The restaurant was full at lunch with as many people taking food out as sitting down. We had a great experience here. Mallory was our waitress and you could not have asked for a better person to take care of you. She suggested the right wine for my wife, described everything we had perfectly and paid attention to all of the details. She made sure my cup stayed full. When our meal came out they brought broiled fish instead of fried. We didn't say anything as we like both and just went with it. A few minutes later Mallory shows up with two pieces of fried fish as she had noticed the order wasn't right. Great experience at a local place and can't wait to go back. Food was awesome. My daughter and I recently visited Jacksonville and found this restaurant on google maps. It had great reviews so we decided to try it. They didn't disappoint. I ordered the stuffed flounder. My first and probably my last visit. I went there about 3:30pm. I was greeted upon arrival and instructed to pick any table, which I did. Only one other table was occupied and the speed of the service was excellent. Allie came right over with a menu. After ordering I checked the bathroom and it was clean with soap and paper products, so I used it . They have two televisions on in the back that appeared to be muted with low volumed music coming from speakers some where. Thursday is whole Lobster for $22.00, so I decided to indulge. Bad decision!!Apparently they "boil" the lobsters in plain water!!! I've never had a more water-logged bland lobster, ever! I seasoned the butter (unsalted, I believe) with hot sauce. I wasn't told that I could have had something else such as Old Bay to help with the flavor until I was almost done. The texture of the claws was decent, but the tail was tough and chewy! When my server asked how the meal was, I was honest. She seemed disappointed and a bit irritated with my answer, but didn't offer a reason for me to come back. I did place a to-go order for my husband, to give them another chance to try it. I got him the stuffed Trigger fish, deviled crabs, and fried shrimp (his favs) so he could try them out too.He told me the meal was "OK". I really wanted to like the food here and the reviews were excellent. I should have read some throughly so I might have been happy with my meal. Bottom line for me is it wasn't worth what I paid. The service was awesome. It was not crowded when we arrived but filled up very quickly! The waitresses efficiently covered their tables and food was delivered very quickly. I had the deviled crab and shrimp combo. The shrimp was good. The deviled crab was mostly breading. The fried gator bites were delicious, and I preferred dipping them in the remoulade. The Mayport flounder was served with melted butter and broiled perfectly. A very generous portion was served. But I got the crab stew cup to start, Mayport Shrimp lunch portion with coleslaw and a baked potato. Crab stew was really good, real crab! The Mayport shrimp couldn't be better. Generous portions. The cocktail sauce and tarter sauce were delish and home made, not store brand. Liz was a great waitress and checked on me often. She also brought me a sample 'scallop fromage'. It is a total shame that I am only giving this restaurant a 2 star review because the food was really really good. However, when the service sucks, it deters you from ever returning. We had Erika who wasn't attentive to us at all. Avoided eye contact so that she didn't have to get us anything. I ended up having to ask another server for another drink and had to go to the counter for condiments. (We are normally really good tippers but I really didn't feel like Erika did much of anything at all.) on top of that, while we were ordering, she started walking away. (Who does that? I've had fried seafood to-go from several restaurants so I know that it won't be as crispy, but the Quality of the seafood should remain. The seafood quality was unbelievably poor. I got fried oysters and scallops and it was some of the worst I've ever had. Gummy, soggy fried oysters that were shriveled up and far from fresh and Scallops that were clearly frozen before. My parents loved the oysters! The crab bites were like a crab stuffing ball fried.. Almost like a studding crab cake (super good!). The crab stew (3.99) was full of meat, but seemed a little too bland & milky for my taste. Then we ordered the fries grouper plate to share. WHOA! Heather was an awesome waitress and my husband loved the tasty and tender scallops and the fried fish but both of us agreed the shrimp had been fried too long and it made them hard and tasteless. The cocktail and tartar sauces were fresh made and delish, especially the cocktail sauce has the perfect amount of horseradish in it! Tangy but not too hot. The fries were good and the slaw was very tasty too just a little cup tho. I'm disappointed in the shrimp it's what I always eat when I go out so if I say they weren't good, that means they weren't.
