We've made it an annual tradition to eat at Seafood Sam's each year when we visit the Cape for the 4th. This was my 3rd visit, and my first ever lobster roll! Big deal, right? As it turns out, I much prefer their salmon sandwich (they always cook their salmon perfectly, and that's rare with restaurants - most places cook the bejesus out of salmon), but I'm glad I tried it. Love the location. The staff is usually young kids working a summer job, but they do their job with a smile on their face (most of them, at least). The tables are clean and not sticky. The fries are tasty. They have lots of condiments to choose from. What more can I ask for? read more

Quite disappointing. Got take out for 2. One Cape cod style platter and I fried clams w/ bellies platter. About $30. Very small portions on both, and lousy limp fries! Oh well, lesson learned!! read more

Plastic forks and spoons, the "award winning lobster bisque" in a styrofoam cup, self-service unless you sit in the bar. We did and struck up a nice conversation with some cranberry growers. I'm not sure what award the bisque won, but mine is a one star only because I couldn't give it a no star. read more

Good size portions. The clams were cooked just right and not at all gritty. The lobster rolls were light and tasty except they use the very tips of the claws in the meat. Overall it was a great meal. read more

My husband and I stopped here after a day at the beach. I was craving something "summery" which meant clams in some form or another (probably fried, who was I kidding). I didn't want an entire dish of fried clams and french fries for myself, so we split a quart size of fried clam strips and we each got a cup of chowder. The clams were delicious. Exactly what I was craving, not greasy, not chewy, fresh and delicious! I got the clam chowder and my husband got the fish chowder. Mine was a little watery and not many clams at all. His fish chowder looked great (which he attested to as well). All in all, great place to stop in, order at the counter (which I love) with lots of comfortable seating, indoor and out. Seafood Sam's is always a stop while we are here. Good atmosphere for the younger kids. Food options are great if you like everything fried, however broiled and grilled options are minimal. I find the menu quite pricey considering you eat off paper plates and use plastic silverware. For the prices, it would be nice to have table service. All in all, an option for the whole family, but never my first choice. read more

Just the sort of casual atmosphere for great New England seafood. Lobster roll had lots of large chunks of meat and was very flavorful.

This is our local go-to to for takeout seafood. We usually get the fried fish & chips and the baked seafood platter. All of the sides are tasty. It's a no-frills, casual seafood place with ample seating indoors and out and quick, friendly service. read more

While we were looking around Cape Cod, the locals suggested Seafood Sam's. The rule of thumb is, if the locals like then it is good and we were not disappointed. I give Seafood Sams 5 stars for a "Clam Shack"-style restaurant. If you knock stars off your rating if there are no linen tablecloths and/or tuxedo-ed waiters, this is not the place for you. BUT if you like perfectly cooked, FRESH seafood and don't care if you carry your own tray to a table, you won't be disappointed. These guys have fried seafood down to a science. I wouldn't give 5 starts for their baked or broiled items (sorry); they are often overcooked and just not as delicious as their fried food. The fried food is NEVER greasy, their batter is light & wonderful with lots of crispy edges. LOVE their choose 2 combo - fish, shrimp (butterflied or popcorn), scallops, calamari, clams or chicken tenders. Choose fries, baked potato, rice pilaf or baked beans. The seafood platter for 2 is AWESOME and a great value. The staff is friendly but BUSY, so if you're looking for small talk, you might be disappointed. It's always clean. Many tables have great views of the Cape Cod Canal (a great walking & biking spot). There are several dining rooms, a covered outdoor deck with picnic tables and picnic tables scattered around the grounds (good for those with bicycles, kids and/or dogs). Oh, they have seasonal liquor license, so April 1 to closing (some time in November), you can get the adult beverage of your choice. We stopped here for lunch with my family and ordered the "dinner" sized fish-n-chips and haddock special. The quality and taste were good, but we were surprised by the small size of the servings. Not to stereotype, but most similar seafood counter-service places tend to give you much larger servings. We left still feeling a little hungry. read more

The absolute best fried seafood at the best prices. I live on the North Shore, but grew up on the south shore where my parents still live. I've eaten fried seafood from all over Massachusetts/New England and Seafood Sam's is STILL the best, hands down. They must change the batter frequently because I've never had it be that dark color. And I go to SS's at least 5-10 times every summer. Also, the tarter sauce is delicious. For me, tarter sauce is everything. I put it on everything (including my french fries, don't judge). And SS's tarter is amazing. I think its homemade, but I'm not sure. Some other fried clam establishments I've been too (::coughs:: JT Farnums ::coughs::) has good clams, but really gross tarter sauce thats room temperature and is a weird yellow-ish color... nope. Seafood Sams has it all! Good, fresh, quality seafood, good batter, delicious tarter. Oh man, its going to be a long winter. Granted, it is not a fancy establishment, you can wear ripped jean shorts over your bathing suit and eat here, and I always seem to end up with a screaming child near me, but I don't care about any of that (ok, sometimes I care a lot when there are noisy children around, but that's just a general across the board annoyance for me). I also can't speak to anything other than the fried seafood and the lobster bisque. Because that's all I get. The prices are incredibly reasonable, there's a bar if you want booze, and yes, you have to pick up your food from a counter, but you know what? You just saved yourself a 20% tip. Pat yourself on the back for being financially responsible :) I'm pretty sure I should rate this place a 1-star so it doesn't get more crowded than it already gets in the summertime. Also - I'm not sure what her name is, but there is the sweetest lady that works in the pick-up area, she's there every season, and seems to have worked there for many years, who is fantastic! I always know my order is going to be correct when she's there, she double checks the orders, is always nice and polite, and I just appreciate that so much. Well done, Seafood Sam's. Cape Cod seafood restaurants are in a league of their own. The good one's thrive here and the bad ones...well, no one goes to those, so we know nothing about them. Sam's is a mainstay. Always good, always delivers, and over the years they've expanded the menu from is fried food focus. While there may be other hidden seafood and/or clam shack gems on the Cape (most without liquor licenses), Sam's will occupy a place in my heart. Lobster and Crab Rolls are what i get, but the chowder and slaw are good enough to order extra for take out. read more

Best Fried Clams on the Cape. I have literally been going here for 20 years and the fish is always extremely fresh. You go on, place your order, grab a seat, and wait for your number to be called. They also have a small bar. Fresh fish, fresh oil, can't beat it. read more

I'm not a huge seafood person, but this place was fantastic! Scallops and clam strips were great, and my boyfriend loved his clam chowder! Perfect stop off for some fresh seafood as you are heading off the cape. read more

Fried seafood is delicious here. It is very close to Shawme State Park. It is a good casual place to get a hot dinner while camping in the area. I recommend calling ahead and taking it to go because the dining room is loud and busy. We always take it back to our camp site, or to one the many beaches in the immediate area. read more

I LOVE THIS PLACE! Although, I do not eat seafood, the quality of the food is marvelous! There's a little wait , not bad though. Great for kids! I get the adult chicken platter with baked beans ... Sometimes I get a baked potato. All meals comes with their creamy coleslaw which is my fave! Mmmm ' so good! The food is fresh and crispy . It's all fried food unless they accommodate you otherwise. I would definitely return here. Got some really solid fried clams (whole bellied) that I've been craving for some time now. The wait is a bit of a put-off, and I don't know what's up with the weird arrangement of the bar (???) but the food was great and very fairly priced. Nice view as well. read more

We've been visiting Seafood Sam's on every trip to the cape for the past 25 years. The breading on the fried shrimp or clams is just right--not too heavy. If you like fried seafood, this is it. It's also fun to sit out by the Canal. read more

We were faithful customers for many years when living in Sandwich. After 12 yrs away have moved back and went for dinner recently. Spent $56 for whole belly clams,fried oysters,french fries and onion rings. One word-YUK!! Small portions, clams and oysters were tasteless and doughy-we didn't even finish our food it was so heavy and tasteless, not light and crisp as fried clams should be. NEVER AGAIN. Good spot to check out on the way home from the Cape. It's not in the best location but if you want the cape cod seafood shack experience - come here. Although it's on the canal, there really isn't anything going on. Feels like an industrial park. But despite that, this is your typical order at the counter and pick up your food in 15 min. Prices are reasonable and the food is good. Well you can't really screw up fried seafood. The lobster roll was good, lightly sauces, and on a hot dog bun. read more

We wanted to eat fish and chips and this seemed like the place to go. The interior has a fast food place feel to it but it's very clean and well decorated. We had lunch special fish and chips, regular lobster roll, and a cup of clam chowder. We got the rice pilaf as a side dish to the lobster roll and the fish. Everything was very good but I especially enjoyed the chowder and the rice. The food's a bit pricey but worth it if you're in the area and looking for a place to eat seafood. If we're ever in the area again, we would definitely come back here. Next time however, we would probably get the regular sized fish and chips (the lunch portion only gives you two pieces of fish). read more

Your new policy of having the customer provide an ID if the back of the debit or credit card is not signed is BS. The new cards have a security chip so why use the old method of swiping the card when the customer can insert the card into a device on the counter? Plus after a long wait, my order was wrong and there seems to be a lack of the quality and portion that I have been used to. Disappointed. read more
