It's 2025, and Asian-fusion fare is the name of the game. Their dishes often incorporate ingredients from multiple culinary traditions, offering diverse flavors, modern twists on traditional dishes, and visually stunning presentations that appeal to adventurous patrons. Opened since 2017, we have made a return for lunch after 3 years. Located off of River Road along the picturesque waterfront in Edgewater, SEAK (Southeast Asian Kitchen) is a Vietnamese and Thai fusion restaurant. Upon entering, my partner and I were greeted by the staff and got a table inside a trendy Brooklyn industrial vibe, with the restaurant's modern, eclectic decor and a fabulous view of Upper Manhattan. Outdoor seating is also available during warmer weather. Their Viet-Thai menu features the classic pho, chili-salted chicken wings, pad thai, and banh mi frites. We decided on the Singapore Curry Noodles with Chicken and Pad See Ew with Tofu. The food came out quickly. The portions looked deceptively small, but it was authentic, tastefully delicious, and filling. The service was consistent and attentive. The price was comparable to the area. This isn't the kind of place that gets a lot of foot traffic. They are banking on impressing you to the point where you want to come back, which we can continue to recommend.

Our first time going and we were there for lunch on a Tuesday. We love the ambiance and decor of the place. They also offer an outdoor seating but we stayed indoors since it was 90 degrees outside. Our greeter/server, Elizabeth was amazing. She offered best selection on the menu. Very attentive and friendly. We tried 2 appetizers: Vietnamese spring rolls and papaya salad. The spring rolls are quite small but packed with shrimp and vegetables. Delicious! The papaya salad is more of a mix of romaine lettuce and shredded papaya and grape tomatoes. Very light and fresh, subtle taste of fish sauce combined with palm sugar and Thai chili; sweet and slightly spicy. Yum! For the lunch specials, we got the Beef Bo lac lac, Thai basil chicken, lemongrass beef and Vietnamese pork chops. Everything was flavorful. Size of lunch dishes was big enough for all of us (4 of us) to share. Highly recommended!

The food was good. Very generous portion size but definitely a little more mellow in spice. I would have appreciated a little more of a kick but I can understand if it's not for everyone. Service was quick and decor was cute. Restaurant is spacious with enough seating for bigger groups.

This place is a hidden gem in Edgewater. Every time I go, I am happy with the food! Usually I take out, but this time I decided to eat in. Eliza, was my waitress and she gave me some greaat suggestions on what do you get. She was friendly and gave perfect service. I had the sweet & sour soup & the shrimp rolls! All was very good, I will definitely be going here again and I highly recommend.

Always love coming here for Thai/Viet food! Surprisingly though, the Singapore Curry Noodles is one of my fave dishes to get here and is a repeat order for me. Very flavorful and a good amount of spice. The portions are generous and the service is always great. When not Winter, they open up the patio for outdoor seating right by the water. Great vibe!!

I saw this place had good reviews (thanks Yelp!) so decided to check it out for lunch on a Sunday with my family. It's convenient since I'm always at Trader Joe's (just like everyone other person in Edgewater) and it's in the same shopping center. The restaurant had a lot of indoor/outdoor seating with an outdoor terrace. We ordered the grilled shrimp summer rolls, the banh xeo, the SEAK pho, the Thai eggplant with chicken, and the lemongrass pork chops. The portions were huge, definitely larger than I was expecting. The pork chops really surprised me since even they were gigantic, they were still very juicy and had a strong lemongrass flavor. The other dishes were good too but definitely the pork chops were spectacular. Service was great as well, very fast and friendly. I would definitely come back, probably in the summer since we can sit on the terrace.

After Sojo spa morning we were hungry for lunch and so happy we yelped to find this awesome place! Great and extensive menu For Thai and Vietnamese dishes. Fresh ingredients and beautiful decor inside! We chose to sit outside overlooking the river! I was so hungry and didn't take more pics of the delicious food except for the crepe! But I can assure you our tom kha chicken and a tofu one was sizable and delicious!! Ordered drunken noodles with chicken and also Thai iced bubble teas! So glad we found this place. You can't go wrong!!

I haven't been out to a restaurant where I thoroughly enjoyed every single dish in such a long time, and Seak definitely did that for me! I mean, 3 large pork chops in 1 order, and no, it did not break the bank. Delicious and flavorful. The mango sticky rice with their own little twist on it, definitely recommend. The pad see ew, pretty traditional but still very good. The mussels came in a Delicious curry, the menu doesn't mention its spicy but it is. Still very good. Summer rolls were fresh, nice size and stuffed with ingredients. Great, clean restaurant with a nice view and patio for outdoor dining. Would I recommend this place, yes. Will I go back? Absolutely!

It's a very atmospheric decor spot. We came here on a slow day and the service was great. The decor was very distinct on each wall. Some of the food was burnt. Their take on bahn mi is very good though. Without a doubt the food is really filling. So even if the portions look small don't let that deceive you. Pros: there is a parking lot and it's BYOB.

Great Thai food with breathtaking views of the Manhattan skyline! Seak is a Thai/Vietnamese restaurant located in Edgewater, NJ with a back deck that extends out over the Hudson River. When we arrived the staff were extremely welcoming and offered us a table with amazing views. For dinner, I ordered the Red Curry Chicken which was delicious. The chicken was very high quality with plenty of thick bamboo shoots, large chunks of red pepper and eggplant. The curry sauce brought just the right amount of spicy goodness. As Thai curry goes, I would rate Seak in the tier I've had in NJ/NY. And the helping at Seak was perfect. A few other nice touches, Seak is BYOB and our waiter went the extra mile to place our beers on ice. The interior of the restaurant is also very clean and modern. On the flip side, my wife's Drunken Noodle was just so so, but we both agree that we should return soon. So I give two thumbs up!

This is my second time at Seak . First time I had their pho so the second time around I wanted something new. I got their Bang Mi and I must say that was the star of the show. Who knew they were so tasty!? Their Banh Mi was crunchy yet soft, I really liked the fact that it was saucy. The presentation was on point! I got the grilled sesame beef and friend got the heritage pork. He preferred the pork which works for me because I enjoyed the beef more! I would definitely come back for that alone. I also ordered their Banh Xeo and was pleasantly surprised! I thought the exterior shell would be crunchy but this one was more soft. Either way I liked it and I would re-order it again. To get seated by the window you have to be a party of 4 or more and usually those are reserved. You can ask to be seated closer to the window. Guarantee I will be back for a 3rd visit!

SEAK is what we've been needing on this side of Hudson River all this time. First of all I just wanted to quickly commented on the interior decor. It's so freaking NICELY DONE. A perfect blend of modern rustic industrial that is so insta-worthy picturesque. Now the banh mi. I'm kinda crazy for this Vietnamese street delicacy. The craziness started after a college street-foodie backpacking trip to Ho Chi Minh that left me with a cringe each time I don't see banh mi listed on the menu of any Vietnamese restaurant. As much as I love pho, it's one of those things I would only eat when the weather justifies. Outside of those times, I just want my banh mi. The beef banh mi totally did not disappoint. They loaded the perfectly crusty baguette with so much meat I couldn't even finish the whole thing in one seating. What I also like about SEAK's menu has multiple selections of banh mi. I know that traditionally pork is the main meat for banh mi, but hallelujah there are also chicken, beef, and vegetarian options! They also go above and beyond in marking which items on their menu are gluten-free or can be made vegetarian. Another thing worth noting is their bubble tea. I ordered the lychee bubble tea and thank goodness it is REAL tea and not one of those artificially-colored powder drink y'all call "bubble tea". Overall, I'm definitely pleased with my meal at SEAK and definitely coming back for more :) read more

Came here for Saturday lunch with my friends. The place is clean, nice view, and good food. Must order (my favs): banh mi fries - waffle fries topped with pickled veggies, pork, and spicy aioli. I'm very picky with my fries and these are fried perfectly - they're not oily or soggy, has a nice crunch to them. Beef and avocado summer rolls - the beef is flavorful not dry and goes really well with the avocado, vermicelli, and the peanut sauce for dipping. Honestly, we were not happy with the food, drinks, or prices. While the service and the views are great, the food is subpar. My mom and I came here for lunch and neither of us cared for the soups. We tried the pho broth and the tom yum, it was funky to say the least. My mom got the pad Thai for lunch, now mind you we enjoy Thai and have been to a variety of different restaurants nearby (definitely would recommend Aura Thai Kitchen in Fort Lee) none of which have such a glutinous texture and aftertaste of fish. read more

I'm not a picky eater but the spring rolls I ordered were the worst spring rolls I have ever tasted and the Pad Kee Mao noodles were so bland and without flavors, it was so bad. Top it all off, most foods are very pricey compared to the quality and taste of the food so STAY AWAY. The service is really bad too since the waiters never check on your table and you have to wave and yell at the waiters from 1 mile away to get any service. It was truly one of the worst restaurants I've been to in NJ. read more

I've been here a few times now, and when they first opened up, it was pretty descent pho. But quality has been getting worse and worse with time. I really hate that, they are all quality when first open and then starts to go downhill. The pho was blend, basically no flavor and noodle was overcooked, slimy and falling apart. Price was too high for so little portion. Really wasn't a good experience. read more

Amazing spot with good food and amazing views. Perfect for a date night or a casual meetup with friends. They have a lot of options on the menu making and the waiters are beyond friendly and accommodating. The decor in this place is really unique which makes it stand out beyond everything else. This isn't to say their banh mi's aren't good. It was. It just didn't taste like a banh mi, traditionally drenched in a sweet/salty/sour concoction of fish sauce, vinegar, and sugar. I will give it to them though for serving chicken that's fresh and juicy, rather than dry and poorly seasoned. My friend Erica commented real banh mi's never have sriracha mayo on them, which I guess comes down to a personal preference. I didn't mind the sauce though. I'd say people come here for the convenience of a view and BYOB. It's really pretty at night, I'll give it that. Above all, this area can benefit from more variety in Asian cuisine, so I'll give them a solid 3 stars for that. Hopefully Seak sticks around * p.s. if you want real vietnamese, go to mami eatery also avoid that lady "Lynn" she's the phoniest lame you'll ever meet. she's not even Vietnamese or Thai LOL read more

Very impressed with this new restaurant in Edgewater's new opening which is right by Trader Joe's and Whole Foods, that small business district in the area is really bustling and seeing a lot of new development in that area. It's a great place to meet and bring a group of friends to gather or bring family but over 6 people there is a gratuity if 20% and some items on the menu may contain egg, nuts, shellfish, gluten or soy so do ask. I really loved their wings and banh mi sandwich need to go back and try their noodles (pho/pad see ew) and vermicelli dishes. Highly recommend and a wonderful addition to Edgewater. read more

This place is surprising big inside. It's clean with nice decor. FOOD: I got the Thai curry mussels which are mussels in massaman curry with basil, side of grilled baguette. Service was kind and fast, but food was underwhelming. The meat in Sesame beef Bahn Mi did not taste fresh - only could eat half. I also ordered the tofu pad see ew and it tasted like a metal pan - had to throw the whole thing out. My first time at SEAK was a pleasant experience. The outdoor dining is really nice and clean, although they were busy. Staff was nice. My friend and I ordered the Banh Mi Frites which we really liked 10/10 would recommend. I love Vietnamese food, especially pho but I was disappointed that the pho tasted watered down. The noodles and the meat were cooked ok but the broth itself was lacking a lot of flavor compared to other restaurants I've tried. I could not finish the bowl and took the leftovers home to try to fix the soup. Not sure if the chefs forgot to add spices or if SEAKs signature pho is just suppose to taste so flavorless. Anyways, next time I will try something else. read more

Nice cool place in a great neighbourhood. However, the bubble tea sucked lol all other appetizers including their fries was amazing. Their drunken noodles and Thai fried rice was also good but Pho sucked and also basil fried rice didn't have the right flavors. Its a hit or miss kind of thing I guess. The outdoor dining in warmer weather looks nice so I might consider giving it one more shot. read more

it was my first time here and i liked it! i split the GARLIC SHRIMP SPRING ROLLS with my friend which were delicious! i thought the sauce was yummy. and then for our entrees, i got the JUMBO CRAB FRIED RICE and then she got the BEEF SATAY NOODLE SOUP which looked huge. portions are pretty big here ngl so each dish being $15-20 makes sense i guess? oh the water comes in mason jars which is cute!! waiters r super friendly and food comes out decently fast! i think it'd be nice to go later at night when it gets dark so the lights by the railings turn on and it's all pretty. i'll come again haha! read more

My second visit to Seak and it was as enjoyable as the first. First - the space is modern and spacious, the noise level is average, the parking is easy since it's in a strip mall but here is the kicker - the view is also great. Now the food. The menu is not voluminous but what they do offer is delicious. We have tried their bahn mi sandwiches, the rice noodle soup, the chicken, beef, pork and shrimp dishes and all were delicious. Added plus is it's a BYOB. The prices were reasonable, and the servers were attentive. Overall a very nice experience. read more

Awesome food! Very nice atmosphere they have an outdoor seating arrangement by the river that's very nice is warmer weather. The food was great the meals that were said to have a spicy kick actually did which I appreciated. The server was very informative and helped us navigate the menu and the "best/ most popular" dishes with was the pho. The fried banana with coconut dessert was delicious! read more

I absolutely love SEAK! One of the best Thai food restaurants in this area. I'm quite a traveler so happen to go to New Jersey every weekend and my dinner once a week was always this place. The interior is spectacular, and the food is amazing. They're beef pad Thai is so wonderfully made I am so eager to know what the recipe is! Unfortunately, I haven't been there since this pandemic started, but will definitely be back some time soon. 100% would recommend. read more

Came for lunch--got tofu pad Thai and came with veggie tom yum soup. It was really bland and much paler than any other pad Thai I've ever eaten. It didn't come with peanuts but the waiter brought some out when I mentioned it. The bottom of the dish had a layer of oil--I mean if the dish was super delicious and flavorful I wouldn't have minded the oil but it felt like I was eating canola oil noodles. The tom yum soup was pretty tasty. I also ordered a cup of tea which was also tasty but at $4 kind of steep for just a tea bag. I don't think I'll come back here or recommend this place to others. Lots of gluten free options, the downside not the most flavorful. I went there for a work dinner and the decor and ambience inside is super fun. Started off with papaya salad, which was pretty flavorless, didn't have the salty acidity that i would expect. Additionally the papaya was cut way to think. The mango spring rolls were good, and others at the table had the fried ones. For a main i ordered the lemongrass chili w/ shrimp - there wasn't a lot of lemongrass mostly chili and a little greasy. This is the closest place for me to get pho, and I'm glad it is! The pho is pretty decent, but it definitely isn't the best. It's good enough to get your pho cravings fulfilled. I do have to say that it does take a little longer than usual for them to prepare the pho than most traditional Vietnamese places. My go-to appetizer are the frites...just try them and thank me later! I love how sweet and savory they are. The combination of the pickled veggies with the crunchy fries are satisfying. Their Thai iced teas are also super delicious! read more

The manager has no clue about hospitality. He wanted to seat us by the noisy entrance and he had 6 empty tables, but refused to seat us at them claiming he can't seat 2 people there. Um.... 70% of the restaurant was empty and he rather lose 2 customers to accomodate customers who aren't even there. Not smart at all. Hope restaurant knows that hired a guy who's making them lose money. Great hospitality skills. See owner's response. Definitely devoid of hospitality skills and her staff is reflective of that. SEAK was a GREAT find! We stopped in on a Sunday afternoon and were able to get seated immediately. The wait staff was extremely pleasant, warm and engaging (all of them!). The menu is very robust, with options to cater to any size appetite. And the food tastes great! We started with a rosemary mint limeade, a Thai iced tea and the banh mi frites, all of which hit the perfect flavor notes. For our main we had the chili lemongrass and the heritage pork banh mi. They were the perfect portions, very well prepared and left us very satisfied. All throughout, the SEAK staff checked in regular, made great recommendations and made us feel like we were welcome back any time. They make it clear on the menu that it takes 20 min to prep the steaks, which was an accurate estimate. The staff were fairly friendly although I thought they could've been a bit more attentive. The restaurant is situated on River Road, which is quite a busy street with limited street parking at times. There is a decent amount of seating inside though and the place has a chill clean environment. Overall, I enjoyed my meal, but it wasn't quite impressive enough to warrant a full 5 stars, especially with the prep time. I've been a loyal customer of this restaurant for years, but my experience tonight at 7:40pm, compelled me to share my huge disappointment. In the past, any issues with my orders were minor and promptly addressed with sincere apologies from the staff. Unfortunately, my latest encounter over the phone with a young female employee and their manager of "6 years" (named Gunther) were quite shocking. When we picked up our order, the packaging was careless, and the bonbohue soup leaked all over the bag. For those of you who don't know what BonBohue is, it's a soup that has a serious pungent fishy smell to it. I honestly can't stand it but it's a dish my husband enjoys. Imagine smelling that all over your table and belongings...and then I have to argue that it wasn't some Uber guy's fault because we picked it up ourselves.... The employee on the phone insisted we contact Uber, despite us explaining that we picked up the order ourselves. The situation escalated, and accusations of lying and rudeness were made. The manager, Gunther, handled the situation, but it surprised me that he couldn't recognize a regular customer in their system. We've always known that Mike was in charge of management, so we were suprised when he said hes been the manager there for 6 years. Additionally, the claim that such incidents never happen contradicted my previous review from over a year ago, addressing a similar issue. My husband and I are going to Pho Che or try another pho spot due to concerns about the current service quality. We're also not confident these young kids won't be tempted to spit in our food if we continue to order from here. read more

I love this place! The food is absolutely wonderful from preparation to presentation. Fresh ingredients and fantastic modern twists on Vietnamese cuisine. The Banh mi sandwiches are out of this world! Honestly, the best I have ever had. The restaurant is big and great for large groups, but very accommodating to small groups and couples too. Be warned that this is a BYOB place. That said, they have an amazing selection of non alcoholic drinks to choose from. The decor is amazing! Custom light fixtures and beautiful metal gates and shutters cover the walls up to super high ceilings. The sound system is great too, playing a trendy mix at just the right sound level. The vibe of SEAK totally competes and is up to par with some of the best restaurants in NYC for sure... and, for an amazing view of NYC, just have dinner out on their spacious rear deck right on the edge of the Hudson. They have been open for three weeks and we have been back three times already! The staff and owners are friendly, super attentive and feel like long lost friends. A Vietnamese restaurant is judged by its Pho and it has its "signature" version called SEAK Pho. At $14 a bowl, this place automatically wins the award of most expensive Pho ever and there must a reason to justify the outrageous price (XL bowl cost $8 max and in Saigon, it cost $2 max!). The pho came out was in a very large bowl. Overall, it looked like what Pho should look like until you start digging in with your chopsticks to find out there is only a small fistful of noodles and a few pieces of lean beef, tripe, tendon, beef meatball and flank brisket. At $14, the soup was NOT that beefy - hours - long bone boiling - taste caressed by the seductive scent of star anise but incredibly salty. To mask the dull flavor, I had to add in hoisin and sriracha sauce, but was limited to what was provided, about a tbsp of each. After all of this, I finished the bowl (excluding the soup) and was still hungry. It is equivalent of a small bowl of Pho that you would find at an authentic Vietnamese restaurant in Queens, Brooklyn, Westminster CA or Vietnam. The interior is nice and modern and would be a great drink / date spot as you have a nice view of NYC skyline. That said, if you SEAK'ing good Pho at a fair price. Our recent experience at SEAK was not the most pleasant overall. The decor shows attention to detail and uniqueness and the service was good overall. It's also a very noisy place to go to for dinner, but some may like that lively atmosphere. Unfortunately the food leaves much to be desired. I suppose that when dining at a "fusion" restaurant there is always the risk of food that is not true to an authentic cuisine style. Our meal, which although was made up of appropriately sized portions, was lacking in flavor. There was a peculiar aftertaste in the tofu with red curry dish. Honestly, this place seems to be geared more towards the unrefined palate of people who have no clue what true Thai or Vietnamese cuisine is based on the numerous 4 Star ratings. I like the one in Saigon Kitchen a lot better. I really disliked the fact that they don't have the spicy chili sauce/Siracusa sauce on the table. I had to ask for the hot sauce twice and it came together with the oyster sauce. Very annoying. Price was $14...really expensive for pho. pad ke mao: my boyfriend said it tasted average. The local Thai restaurant we go to does it better. It was $15. Black sesame & black tea: bobs flavors were excellent. That was the one thing I really enjoyed. However the tapioca balls were very tiny and hard. Service: everyone was friendly and helpful. People checked up on us multiple times to see if everything was okay. First time I went I had the pho and avocado and beef spring rolls, which were both great. Nice sized portions and great flavor. The avocado in the wraps was fresh and plentiful. Last time I went I tried the tom yom soup with salmon and Shaken Beef Watercress Salad. Both were awesome!! I normally don't like most salad dressings, but this was light and refreshing. Definitely getting it again next time, though the sea bass is tempting... Not only has the waitstaff been very attentive and friendly, but the kitchen is very accommodating of my son's allergies. I would suggest that customers avoid the Pad Thai and other Thai noodle dishes. I do like their Pho broth and they will give you a side of it upon request. I like their stir fry dishes better, I think. The appetizers are pretty good, the Garlic Shrimp Summer rolls in particular, and the waffle fries that they have. Papaya salad was good too, but different from other places I have had it. My friend said the banh mi saigon was pretty small.
