Anytime you find yourself in Westchester County, specially in New Rochelle, check this place out…read more for Lunch or Dinner. It is a very quiet place, cousy and very romantic. Anytime, I find myself in, and I am in a lot, it feels like in a boat, a special place, private in a cruise boat... The food is composed of Italian and South American dishes, a very rare combination that gives a lot of choices of very delicious meals... The service is super great, they are very patient, knowing it is very difficult to choose from the great diversity. They have a lot of parking spaces, either in the building garage or along Main Street. Just check it out and think me later.

What a hidden gem!…read more My cousin was in a play recently, and another family member was researching where should we go for a linner - and stumbled upon 179 Main. From a current Westchester resident, my sister, mom and I were hesitant to go , but we were proved wrong that it was a great restaurant. We were a party of 7, and we all felt cared for, the staff was understanding, and attentive from the moment we sat down to leave. Each member in my party had something diffferent: 1. Chicken sandwich 2. Burger 3. Ahi tuna tacos 4. Carbonora (x2) 5. Chicken capricossa 6. Chicken Parm - and even accommodated vodka sauce instead of regular marinara sauce. Wine was nicely poured, cocktails were tasty (although I didn't love my raspberry martini) beer was cold. The restaurant was clean and tidy, and welcoming. Will be coming back ASAP!

The service and food, on the other hand, were quite a mixed bag. We ordered a margherita pizza, pancake tacos, steak and eggs, and French toast with a side of sausage--the pizza, at least, was good. However, the "French toast" was more like an anemic panini press trying to pass as French toast. The steak and eggs comprised of a fairly well-cooked (that is, it was the right temperature) yet underseasoned steak of a relatively dubious cut, underseasoned home fries, and eggs done wrong (sunny side instead of over easy). The lattermost was the start of the problem, as I was willing to give it a shot, but found the texture off-putting. In light of this, I brought the problem to our server Adalia, who brought it to her manager Elvia. Thankfully I had someone else with me to tell me what happened: Elvia came over without addressing me on their error, silently took a look at my plate and instructed Adalia to have the kitchen put the eggs back on the fire. She takes my plate to extract the eggs, and brings them back (unsurprisingly) completely overdone, first in Elvia's hands, then in Adalia's for her to serve; we send for a refire, and they come back correct 7 minutes or so after I've already finished eating. Considering the hassle it took to get them, I couldn't trust it enough to eat, leading them to waste as well. After all was said and done, the GM Amer comes over to see how things were, and was thankfully helpful and understanding of our situation. Here's the rub: I was initially willing to overlook the steak, the home fries, and even the eggs if the error was properly ameliorated. Adalia and Amer both did very well, and I'm grateful for them for that; Elvia, on the other hand, managed to break the chain of competent customer service by directing the server to handle the problem in a way that was set up for failure (if you mess up an egg, it's an immediate refire because of how the egg cooks in the first place -- Amer also arrested to that policy) all without addressing us and taking accountability, due to negligence or whatever else. Not only that, but when sending the incorrect eggs over the second time, she couldn't even bring it to us herself--it would have been easy, seeing as she was the one that originally had them--and left Adalia and her tip to potentially take the fire if the patrons happen to be angry. Mistakes are fine--everyone makes them--but I'd describe this as cowardly more than anything else, and I take issue with that in particular from a leadership standpoint. While Amer graciously extended an invitation for a better experience next time, I can't say I'll be taking him up on the offer when their service and food are this misaligned; unfortunately, a disappointment overall.

By the time we finished chatting, it was clear that Mamma Francesca was the restaurant for us. Nick took notes as we spoke, generously accommodated my substitutions to one of their pre-set party menus, suggested tweaks which served only to improve the menu, and told me not to worry about the final number of attendees - there would be enough food for all. And there certainly was, delicious and abundant. Sixteen people chose from among the fish, chicken, beef, and eggplant parmigiana entrees, and every guest thoroughly enjoyed his/her choice. All of them plan to return. The success of the dishes was exceeded only by the success of Mamma Francesca's service: professional, warm, and careful. Our group was made to feel like we were the only people in the restaurant . (And we most certainly were not.) Thank you, Oscar and Izzy! And thank you again, Nick. It was perfect. Nina L.

We ordered one of their pies half pesto and half fried eggplant -- such a good combo. The eggplant was perfectly crisp, and the pesto paired with pickled onions was an unexpected but delicious collab. We also had the beet salad with ricotta, which was fresh and flavorful. The mix of yellow and red beets with the citrus vinaigrette was light, bright, and balanced beautifully with the creamy ricotta. Even though the place was busy, the service was great. Our server was attentive and consistently checked in to make sure everything was going well. The decor has such a nostalgic feel -- it reminded me of growing up surrounded by vintage photos and memorabilia. Overall, a really solid spot for great pizza, good vibes, and attentive service. Would definitely go back!
