This place is super fun and kid friendly until 10pm! The drinks are a little expensive, but then you realize the pours are heavy, and that makes it worth it! They do get packed on weekends so the staff gets easily overwhelmed with big (10+ ppl) parties. At that point I'd definitely recommend talking to management about booking a private event so they can block out a entire section for you. read more

Stopped by this tiki bar recently, and while the decorations were absolutely on point--think carved totems, dim lighting, bamboo everything, and plenty of kitschy island flair--the overall vibe just didn't come together the way I hoped. They had live music, which usually adds to the experience, but in this case, it felt out of place. Instead of the dreamy surf tunes or retro lounge sounds you'd expect at a tiki spot, the band played more of a generic bar rock set. It wasn't bad, just totally mismatched with the atmosphere the decor worked so hard to create. The drinks and food were decent--not mind-blowing, but they did the job. A little more balance in the cocktails would go a long way, and the food felt like an afterthought compared to how much effort clearly went into the visuals. In short, the place looks like a tiki paradise, but it hasn't quite nailed the full experience. Worth checking out if you're into the aesthetics, but don't expect full island immersion. read more

I will never ever come here again! I was so excited to try this place and made reservations online for my fiancé's birthday. Walked in and no one acknowledged us. I told the bartender we had a reservation and he acted like he couldn't care less and didn't want to be bothered...just told us to sit wherever and to come order at the bar when we were ready. Why do they even take reservations if there's not table service? His whole demeanor was rude and annoyed from the get-go, as was the only waitress there too. When I went back up to the bar to order, I listed one of the Hawaiian Polynesian food entrees to which the bartender put his hand in my face and went "hold on"...he went and spoke to someone and came back and rudely said "We're pretty much out of everything unless you want burgers and fries." GOD FORBID WE ACTUALLY WANTED TO EAT THE VERY TYPE OF FOOD THE ESTABLISHMENT IS SUPPOSED TO BE KNOWN FOR. I turned right back around to my fiancé and said "F*** THIS PLACE! Let's go somewhere else!" And we went across the street to King's Fish House which was DELIGHTFUL!!! But what a disappointment for a place I had such high hopes for and was so looking forward to going to. read more

The experience at this bar was extremely disappointing. The waitstaff and bartenders were completely rude, which started with being carded at the door and carded once more 10 minutes after ordering our drinks. The waitress who served us was particularly unpleasant, going so far as to subtly imply we had fake IDs. She questioned us about our birthdays and asked why we all had the same birthdays, when clearly if she read everyone's birthdays, they were literally all different She also forgot to take down an item we had first ordered.When we asked her to cancel the item she forgot, she gave us attitude. On the positive side, the drinks were strong, but unfortunately, the food situation was not handled well. Despite the restaurant's Instagram saying that the kitchen was open until 9:30 pm, we were told it was closed, while another table was told the opposite. To make matters worse, the restaurant seems to have a preference for older folks and does not welcome those under 25. Minus one star because the bar and tables were left dirty for a while. Been coming here a few times to hear live music and must say this place is a hidden gem. It's located downstairs from Shannon's pub and you get a nice jungle walk through intro before entering the bar with rain and thunder. The ambiance when you walk in is very nice with a lot of big tikis as pillars. I always prefer a booth because the lighting above your head look like clouds surrounding the tiki light which gives a nice ambient light effect. Drinks and food here are standard prices. They have a happy hour during the week and their coconut shrimp and sliders are a must. Depending on which live act you see i would bring some ear plugs for the acoustics. It can get crowded on a Friday so the decibels can be bit much but other than that i love coming here for the live musical acts. read more

Walking in may look like one place but you go down deep to find another place The secret passage is so exciting and it's even more fun once you go through the doors. There's live music and people dancing on the little dance floor. They have "Kings Chair" in the corner you can sit on. We were walking through the first door we saw and one of the bartenders said "I've got a secret way, follow me" That was much better! I did not get to try the drinks or food this time because of the group I was with and other obligations we had but we did stay for the music and had a good time. I will be coming back! This place is a hidden gem right under Shannon's. As you're walking in you're being teleported to some tropical island that the pirates of the Caribbean discovered. You get some thunder and lightning on the way in as if Thor was drinking at the bar. The bar is intimate, but has plenty of space towards the back. Came on a friday and had live music, but found a seat at the bar. The atmosphere is great, drinks are an experience, food was ok, and service was just ok too. The time I came in I got the Diabolita which is a tequila drink that I do recommend. What a fun secret tiki place! You go down the stairs, and you immediately are greeted by a flash of thunder and lightning (startled me a bit at first) in a classic tiki setting. It felt like walking into a Disney ride! Their decor inside the restaurant is amazing as well. It really immerses you in the experience. I was excited immediately and really happy with our choice to visit. Their drinks are amazing, and we are picky drinkers (especially when it comes to tiki drinks). So the former reviews talking about poor quality drinks, or not enough booze? They must have solved the problem. We enjoyed three drinks, because they are just so good. We enjoyed Pele's fire, the Painkiller, and the Sea Foam. All of them were yummy, but I liked the sea foam and the painkiller the most. And they are served in classic tiki glasses that are Instagram worthy. Not to mention, their staff and bartenders know their beverages, and will help you decide what to order. Located underneath Shannons on pine. Take the staircase at the host stand down. Great little tiki bar. We can in on a Saturday to hear the band playing since one of the band members is a friend of a friend. While here we ordered their burger, the fried rice, loco moco, sliders, pot stickers, a couple of beers and mixed drinks. The food was pretty tasty and will happily eat here again. The lounge had pretty slick lighting effects. The wait staff was pretty on point in helping make sure we had gotten an order and barring their deep fryer dying they were still able to improvise and have the food come out at a reasonable time. If I had a complaint to make was maybe the band was a bit loud, my Apple Watch complained about noise levels and was registering 88-94db. Otherwise, I'll happily try to come here again! read more

Looks like I have a new favorite tiki bar, y'all! Many tiki-themed spots cross the fine line between classy and tacky, but this place manages to stay firmly in the former. It's adorable and pretty stylish for a tiki bar. As a fun bonus, there are several special effects built into the place that I won't spoil but HIGHLY recommend checking out.  The drinks are BOMB! I ordered the peacock princess ($14) -- a divine, layered cocktail made of gin, almond cherry-infused lemon juice, and ginger beer -- and the zombie ($16) -- a wild combination of rums that's so strong, they limit to 2 per person.  My sever was A+ as well. Super attentive and whipped some excellent off-menu cocktails for me. My only issue with my experience was the straws. I'm grateful they are biodegradable, but they saturated quickly and became limp within minutes of being placed in the drinks. I also would've appreciated stronger AC (I visited on a particularly hot day). PRO TIP: It's located downstairs and to the right of Shannon's. The entrance is a trip and may possibly scare the crap out of you. read more
