Stopped in this afternoon and today was their first day of business. Spoke with Nick and Ryan (Co-owners) and they were very nice and knowledgeable. Left with a few sausages to try. Cooked their Banh Mi sausage and ate it plain on a toasted baguette... Phenomenal! Doesn't need anything else. I cooked it in an oven, then browned it on a flat top before eating. Shout out to Sections on 17th in Costa Mesa. Was in search of stuffed chicken breasts. The store I normally purchase from no longer carries so I wondered into Sections. It was a bit sparse so I was discouraged. The guy working ( sorry I forgot his name) told me it wasn't on the menu but he would whip something up for me if I didn't mind waiting. Wow! Favorite new spot for good quality meats. Lately I've been coming 1-2x per week. I've tried quite a few things so far and it's all been fire. I love the concept of availability based on what has been freshly prepared for the day. Their chicken breasts are like $4-5 less per lb than The Butchery down the street. Started by two local brothers with a vision for supplying the freshest meats and cheeses as well as aged meats and some of the tastiest sandwiches I've ever had. They are dialing it in tighter and tighter every time we go in but we have never been disappointed. Ask if they have any beef from Tasmania, it's amazing and the story of why it is is a great one. After a pleasant experience with hat man (I forgot your name I'm so sorry but thank you again) you've definitely earned a customer for life. After my initial visit and smoking up a mean pork shoulder, I came back and picked up a pre seasoned tri tip and baby back ribs. Everything was phenomenal and some of the best meats I've had the pleasure of eating. And the seasoning on that tri tip! WOW!! It is an absolute must to try their pre seasoned meats. Dropped in this afternoon just to check it out. The place has a very small selection, and charges top dollar. 30 dollars for a single whole chicken - and they kept the giblets. In their defense, they obviously put their energy into service. They offered to cut up the bird anyway I wanted ... without my asking. Twice I've tried to pre-order items from this shop without much success. The first time, I was told the item wouldn't be available until the following week. When I stopped by to pick it up, they had only half the quantity I'd requested. I was told the problem was that I hadn't been definite enough in my request. The second time I asked for two items. Again I was told neither would be available until the following week. This time I was particularly careful to specify both the quantity and the day I wanted the items, the latter based on when I was told they would be in stock. When the day came, I was told one item was not available after all and the other had been repurposed so it was no longer available in the form I had requested. Very disappointing. If you're a drop-in shopper who is willing to choose from the current selection, you may be happy with the shop. The quality of the one item I purchased was quite good. But, if you need to plan ahead and rely on the word of staff to deliver as promised, you might want to go elsewhere. Three stars for good quality, but poor service. read more
