Found a coupon shopping at Kroger in Taylor, Thanks to New Owners . First I'm totally addicted to those fresh cut in house French Fries OMG, like those carnival fries perfection a must try. Best restaurant Fries in Metro Detroit I kid you not, just go now . I ordered the Double Bacon Cheeseburger on the menu and added a Xtra Patty, Triple Cheeseburger rules could only eat half. Started with a fantastic Veggie Beef Noodle Soup outstanding Delicious . See the photos Mega Greek style Chicken Kebab so tender and flavorful, she order with those Fries ate them all. Had Kayla again our superstar waitress, she rocks. Such a beautiful spotless clean restaurant, the New owners added to menu, marvelous Yummy food . Check out the New Facebook page for daily specials. https://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=61557124074162&mibextid=ZbWKwL #senateconeyisland @senateconeyisland_taylor #triplecheeseburger #housemadefries #chickenkebab #greatsoup #frenchfries #newowner #downriverfriendseat

Well it's been MANY years since we have visited...for the most part it's the same look (minus a few TVs) and a whole lot less customers. The food wasn't good but not what it used to be. Nevertheless, it was still decent. Service was fast, but there really was only a handful of tables with customers so that hopefully is expected. We ordered a double cheeseburger and fries, steak and cheese sandwich and fries, fried mushrooms, a 'loose' and another fries. Oh yeah I also ordered a fish and chips dinner (had planned to get a fish sandwich with order of fries but for just a bit more the dinner comes with soup/salad, bread/pita and rice pudding (that still IS good) ... So went with that instead the fish wasn't superb, nor were the fries, but overall it wasn't a bad dinner. Oh I didn't note but the lemon rice soup was GREAT! Family that live around here just think everything has gone downhill since COVID and just not really recovered since...just going to have to to see with time if it gets better or not. Only time will tell... One thing I know is that our experience is only a little better than the avg 2 stars the Senate has on Yelp! Talking with all in the family the general consensus was 3 stars but really 2 makes more sense.

I had a mild transgression and decided I wanted to try something different than the Dearborn Coney for breakfast. My husband checked Yelp and saw Phillips Diner had good reviews. When we got there, the parking lot was packed, and judging by the small building size, we figured there wasn't seating either. I'd been to Senate in the past and remembered it as a sprawling, lively coney. So I suggested (sadly, without checking Yelp first) we eat there for breakfast. When we pulled into the large parking lot, we immediately noticed there weren't many cars... at 9:30am on a Saturday. Warning sign ignored. There were only a handful of diners inside, but still we decided to dine there. The booth seemed very sticky and the space overall seemed dingy. The waitress was very personable and attentive. We split a breakfast special and it was delivered in a timely fashion. Everything was alright except the potatoes... tasted like they'd been sitting for quite a while before being reheated and served to us. Overall, Senate had nice wait staff and decent prices, but the outdated, dirty interior and old-tasting food make it a place I'll skip in the future.

So had the opportunity to take a shot on a Friday night at 10pm with the restaurant being closed?

I am sadly going to have to agree with the others. This Coney Island used to be top dawg! I understand that with all the other coney restaurants competing with lower grade food and prices Senate was probably losing business. But when I wanted good quality for good price in the past this was the place to go. Now "The Place" has turned into your below average coney restaurant with a bigger venue then the others. Food is cheap grade(low quality), portions cut, prices jacked? Please, please someone step up and bring back ("The Place") the Quality, Quantity and the Service that the Senate we all know used to be! Bring back the church crowd, seniors, families!

This place is a quite larger place but it's never full on the weekday but the weekend it's packed. The Coney Dogs here r ok I have had better but it is still pretty fulfilling I also had the spinach pie but the top layer of it was nothing but ALOT of crust, it is definitely not worth it to get the spinach pie but the chili cheese fries were ok. This is an ok place to come eat if u want to be full and somewhat satisfying, except for the spinach pie which was pretty gross, but the waitress was very quick, on point and kept bringing us refills on our drinks. I come here from time to time and just order the same thing but no more spinach pie.

Dellah is located on a mixed residential and commercial street with plenty of parking nearby. We chose to eat lunch here in June 2026 since it wasn't too far from our hotel and we saw that they had outdoor seating - important since we had my little dog with us. The place was very busy but since we were eating outside, we had no wait and we were waited upon promptly. There are a LOT of American choices on here (like sugary pancakes) but a third of the menu consists of Yemeni food. I got a traditional Yemeni tea ($4.50) and my boyfriend sipped on a smooth matcha latte ($6.50). We had a big breakfast that morning, so we chose to just share the lahm sighar ($20), which comes with a piece of khuba bread, and also order an additional khuba bread ($2). About 15 minutes later, our food was ready and after taking the necessary pictures, we dug in! Needless to say, the extra bread was not necessary. I don't know what we were thinking but we assumed a piece of khuba was small. Nope! Each piece is the size of my 17-inch computer. Anyway, we used bits of the khuba as silverware to pick up the deliciously tender lahm sighar, something I saw others do when I went inside to use the bathroom and nosily looked around. I must mention that the BATHROOM HAS A BIDET. I REPEAT. BATHROOM HAS A BIDET!!!! Hehe :) seeing it just made me happy lol. So anyway, I saw that the coffee section of Dellah is set up inside like a traditional coffee shop where you can grab and go some coffee, tea, and pastries if you'd like. I did grab my bf, dog, and I some water from the coffee counter, which is self-service. We didn't leave a crumb behind and loved our food here. I would happily come back again! There is a 3% card surcharge fee so I paid the bill with cash, which came out to about 45 dollars after tax and tip. A little pricey, thanks to our expensive drinks, but so yummy!

I came here with our team. There was 10 of us in our party…read more Not sure whose idea among the Dellah staff thought it was a good idea to squeeze so many guys and me at two small tables by the door. This was an awful table to be at in here. We hardly had elbow room or table space, especially after the giant platter sized bread was out with all of the breakfast/ brunch items for half of the table. I ordered the Fazolia. Everyone else got omelets, burgers or wrap items. Yes, a couple of team members weren't keen on ordering Fasolia with scrambled eggs, large Greek salad, 2 lahm sighar (one with potato and one quit eggs), 2 smashed burger, Yemeni scrambled eggs, chicken fajita, Greek skillet, southwest skillet, chicken wrap, coffee, tea without milk, Turkish coffee, mint lemonade refresher. Every team member said their food was good. The scrambled eggs are a tad runny and looked a bit puréed. The fasolia has good flavor and even better with some heat. It came out piping hot. Without the added eggs, this dish would be woefully lacking in substance for me. I would likely still be left hungry with the beans alone, since I don't eat the bread, generally. I tried the bread to give it a go, it's good. The Greek salad is nicely plated or bowled rather. The ingredients are in separate piles and looks like a pinwheel. The red onions were crudely cut. The tomatoes looked wrinkled and not so appealing. The Greek salad was underwhelming for me. The tea doesn't taste good, definitely need some honey, sugar or the milk here, although I favor nothing in my tea.

Better to not sit across a big giant table with a bunch of strangers. Ordered the Mushroom Swiss omelet with hash brown and white toast. I wanted to order the ranchero Benedict, but I am not allowed to swap out the English muffin for GF bread. Ordered the Mexicali burrito with turkey sausage and turkey bacon instead of brisket and 4 orders of beignet. $77.38 Had to ask for the toast part way into our meal. The hash browns were cold. Burrito fell apart instantly. Too hard to pick up. Tasted okay overall. Sauce on the top of burritos, made the tortilla wilted and unmanageable to pick-up. The mushroom Swiss was decent, white toast too. Potatoes slices and hash browns were okay. Service and food is average, needs some improvements for sure. The to go beignets were definitely not out in 5 minutes, took over 10 minutes. The beignets were by far the best part of the meal. Dough was light, airy, outside was crispy, yet chewy. The cream cheese dip was such a good pair.

For example, I get the "Hearty" breakfast most of the time and it comes with eggs, meat, pancakes, potatoes and toast, and it really highlights what is this place's strength. Eggs: I get mine scrambled and have a nice selection of hot sauce to choose from. Meat: I appreciate that they offer turkey sausage since I don't eat beef or pork, but my wife loves their bacon if that's your thing. Pancakes: quality varies the most here as they are sometimes a little pale (but still good) but more often the idyllic golden one expects when ordering. Potatoes: lots of variety here, too, as my home fries come in different sized cuts with seasoning ranging from none to "no need for salt or pepper?" Toast: Again, wide variety of choices, I go with sourdough most often If this sounds like a lot of food, there are lots of other options that make it appealing to smaller appetites. But what I like about the "Hearty" is all the choices and the variation in style (probably depends on who's staffing the griddle) allows me to order the same meal and still feel like I'm getting some variety. Having said that, keep an eye out for the specials. They sometimes are tempting enough to get me to stray from usual.
