I read reviews all the time with people complaining about service (I'm a really patient guy so they never really bother me) but this is first time I ever walked out of a restaurant for lack of it. I got there and there was no one at the front. I was waiting with another customer and his family, finally we both got annoyed and went a grabbed someone and asked to be seated. I got my water and my order was taken but It was at least 30 minutes before I saw the waitress again. (I'm being generous here because this the time I started to look down at my watch wondering where my food was). I finished my water and it was another 15 minutes before anyone even asked if they could refill it, again never saw my waitress. Finally my waitress came by and ask did you get your food yet? I said very annoyed "NO!" I saw her go back and it looked like she didn't even get the order to the chefs. I walked out and across the street to Mod Pizza. I live across the street, just moved there, and was hoping this place would me new local go to place, but after the service this sunday I will not be returning. Maybe the food here is good maybe it sucks, I don't know and at this point never will. This is an example of a restaurant which is doomed to fail which may or may not have anything to do with their food. We have been looking forward to going to this restaurant for quite some time, as there aren't very many decent sushi places in South San Jose. Service was absolutely terrible from top to bottom. I don't care if this comes across as insensitive, but I simply don't expect quality service from any Asian restaurant. I merely expect mediocre service. It wasn't even mediocre. Getting seating -- dude totally ignored me even though I was right in front of him and sat a couple and another family of 4, both of whom walked in after me and were standing next to or behind us. Totally ignored me, even when I say "YO" or "excuse me." He finally acknowledged me, offered a lame apology and sat us. From that point on, service was very slow. To take orders, to bring out food... everything. And we had at least 4 different people trying to take care of us, all of whom didn't communicate with each other. We ordered 3 bento boxes and 1 entree, and they just randomly threw food in dribs and drabs on our plate. Totally ridiculous. Beef teriyaki arrived first, unexplained. We didn't know whose it was. The next serving of food came out at least 15 minutes later! I could go on and on, but the service was an F. Even for an Asian joint, that's pretty damn bad. The food itself was solid. Outside of the incredibly salty miso soup, no one had any complaints with anything. So there is one star earned. Unfortunately, it's also rather pricey compared to similar restaurants. So to summarize: awful service, overpriced, solid food. Unfortunately, that only earns them 1 star because even when the food is solid, you end up pissed because the service was so bad and yeah, that check you gotta pay makes it worse. Normally, I would never go back to a place like this. However, they're clearly still learning how to run a restaurant smoothly (it was full but they had plenty of servers), and it's so close that I'll probably end up going back at some point just because of that. Came here for a birthday, lots of soft sashimi, and good bite size sushi rolls. The beef slices were too chewy. Sahani tasted fresh, rolls had a bit too much rice. Mango ice cream cake thing was good. Service was on point, but it was a birthday and had a lot of people. There's seating outside with heat lamps. The only con I would say is that sometimes it takes awhile to get the waitress to stop by for refills or to ask for sauces or the check. My husband and I had been waiting for this place to open. We decided to try it via takeout and what a disappointment! A meal for two was around $45; my husband got a combo meal of the gyoza and a California roll and I got the teryaki chicken entree. Both came with salad and miso soup but mine also came with white rice. First off the salad is just a bunch of lettuce leaves and the miso soup was just broth with what must be invisible tofu squares since I couldn't find any. The rice scoop is small and thats not where the tiny portions end. Both my husband's and my main entrees were so meager! The takeout boxes looked so empty! The food tasted fine but for $45 I did not think the food justified the price. We will definitely not be returning since there are other sushi places that are a lot more satisfying for our stomachs and wallet. read more

First of all, the service was good. Staffs were very friendly. The wait for the food was long but Saturday night so I understand. We tried some rolls. They are fairly good but over price. The unagi don is the worst. If you don't want to regret big time, DO NOT ORDER "UNAGI DON". I'm serious. My kids who usually like unagi couldn't even eat. It's ~ $20 for a "gigantic" bow of rice (no kidding) topped with 6 thin and small slides of unagi ( ridiculous). No soup & no salad with it. And the worst was the rice, instead of regular steam white rice they used sushi rice which after they added weird black sauce on top; the rice tasted sour and bitter. Very weird. The taste of it totally ruined my dinner. Please take this off the menu. Or need major improve. Another disappointing dish was the pork ramen. The noodle was soggy, and the soup was too blank for me. Nice sushi joint in the plaza where I do most of my shopping. I stopped in at the bar for a quick takeout order. The nicest guy took my order and walked me through his recommended rolls. I ordered the Raider Roll and before I could check all of my messages and lurk my friends' statuses on Facebook, my food was ready. 10 minutes top! It was really good. So if you are looking for a very good quality sushi restaurant and are not looking for a wait, I highly recommend Senro Sushi since it is still somewhat of a hidden gem. In addition to this, as I said, the workers are very great. One particular worker that stood out to me goes by the name of Ushi. I called in the order and it was ready within 15 min - that part was awesome. It was a little bit more expensive than what I am used to paying; that says a lot because I will pay whatever I need to for good sushi. The staff was slightly rude. I understand that I was the last customer of the day, but I too work in the service industry and I would never treat the last customer any different than my first. I got my Normal California roll with soy paper. I felt that the crab was not fresh. It had a slight off taste to it. I will admit that I am also picky so someone else might not have even noticed. I was ordering for 2, and I had ordered 5 orders of the California rolls and they only made 4. I was only charged for 4. Either they didn't hear me or they weren't paying attention. The food is OK. Been waiting for this place to open for months and I'm glad I caught them on their opening day! The employees were very kind and welcoming, and the sushi tasted great. We really needed a decent sushi place in the area so I hope this one sticks around. Interior: 5/5 Service: 5/5 Food presentation: 5/5 Food: 4/5 The interior of the restaurant is very clean, modern, and spacious with both table and bar seating. They also have tables outside! When I arrived, there were only a couple other parties other than myself, so I was seated immediately. I ordered tea, miso soup, blue fin tuna sashimi (4 pc), Spider-Man roll, and Tsunami roll. All for me!! All of what I ordered came fast yet was presented beautifully (see pictures). The food itself was definitely above average compared to other sushi restaurants in the area. Miso Soup: 4/5, Nothing too special but above average. Blue Fin Sashimi: 4/5, tasted fresh and yummy, but I wish the pieces were sliced a little thinner. Spider-Man Roll: 5/5, soo good! The crunchiness on top complemented the roll very well, my only complaint being that there was a small amount of tobiko (fish eggs) on top. I personally dislike fish eggs, but since there wasn't too much I was fine. I just wish they would've included it as an ingredient on the menu! Next time I'll make sure to specify no fish eggs. Tsunami Roll: 3/5, pretty average, the jalapeño on top added a nice spice. The hamachi that was on top was a little overpowering though. Also, same thing with the tobiko. Wasn't mentioned on the menu but it came with it. Keep that in mind if you don't like fish eggs; make sure to ask them to leave them off. They have happy hour from 3pm - 6pm! I have to preface this that I did not order any actual sushi, but why would you even offer ramen on your menu if it sucks so bad? First though, there was the soft shell crab appetizer. I have a huge weakness for soft shell crab, so I shelled out the $10. I got one (1) small crab, cut in half with a wedge of lemon, and a small saucer of tonkatsu sauce. Senro, instead of using tempura batter, uses the coarser, tonkatsu-style batter. So while the body (about the size of a tablespoon) was lovely, the poor little legs were fried near to death. Then, I had the tonkatsu ramen. Tonkatsu was a generous sized slice, if a bit peppery and bland (how that's possible, I have no idea, but it lacked that juicy pork flavor). The ramen noodles and broth however. Dear God, I've had instant noodles that tasted better. When the big bowl came out, it looked legit, but lies. All lies. The noodles tasted like the enriched wheat pasta grocery store bargain brand that hadn't been cooked long enough with that slight grittiness when you bit through the noodle. The broth was like dishwater. Maybe they'd poured in all the water from the canned bamboo shoots as well? For $14, you're better off paying a bit more in gas and going somewhere else. The service was nearly as bad. Nearly only because when the staff did come to our table, they were perfectly friendly and great. The problem was actually getting them to come to our table. Understandable if I was there at the height of lunch rush; not so much when it was about 5 pm, and there were maybe, at most, five other couples/single customers in the cavern of a dining room. We were seated quickly, got our waters, and then five minutes later, when we were were ready to order: crickets. All the staff, and there were a lot of them, seemed to have secluded themselves to the back of the restaurant. I tried waving and finally, a kind man eating at the bar hailed one of the ladies working behind there and pointed me out. Even then, the food took a small eternity to arrive. It's noodles and a fried baby crab. How long can those take? Conclusion: Save your time and money and hit up one of the other restaurants nearby. If you crave ramen, go to Mountain View or Santa Clara. read more

When I asked if it was part of the combo because I thought the portion was good , she realized the mistake and took the plate away. She returned with half of the plate beef gone , and another half pork. I was wondering where did the other half portion of beef gone to, another customer's plate ? I was super hungry and in between doctor's appointment at Kaiser and needed to kill some time. Sushi sounded like the healthiest option in this area. I came in on a Thursday afternoon and it was surprisingly busy. Yay for free stuff for checking in to Yelp! I got the garlic edamame and was pleasantly surprised to see that it was a hearty portion. It came out steaming hot and the fried garlic was delish along with some sesame oil. Note to self: cook edamame with sesame oil and fried garlic. I really like mango on my sushi and was eyeing the 'Mango Tango' roll. I don't like salmon and didn't want to change everything in it so I opted for the tempura roll and added mango instead. It came out as 5 big rolls. They put 2 shrimp tempuras in each roll. Great idea, but the shrimp tempura was mostly batter. Womp womp. They didn't charge me extra for adding mango though and it was pretty good lunch coming in at around $14. read more

My go to sushi place! My family loves it so much. Our favorites are the titanic, 49er, sushi Q and cherry bomb. The California rolls are also really good. The quality is always so good. Ask for the salmon with no fat or you'll have lots of gross fat on it but other then that we love it. We come once to twice a week. They give good service. Visiting in the Bay Area and stopped by the new shopping center for some errands and grub. Convinced my family to come and give some sushi a try at this new sushi restaurant. Entering you see a great place, warm and welcoming interior and comfy seats. Everything is super slippy since its new, they might want to add some traction to those chairs. Food is arranged well and menu is easily navigated to delicious results. The food was fantastic and fresh, lots of bold combinations in the rolls. We had one roll mixed up but it tastes great surprisingly so we kept it. Staff is really unorganized and we had 6 people confusingly taking care of us. We got the wrong sushi roll, wrong check and wrong change. Aside from that, great place for lunch. read more
