Genuine concern for the customer's well being, and integrity is how I would describe my experience here. First time eating here. The lady that served me wasn't in it for the money, but assisted me by ordering the food I really wanted to eat, and actually discouraging me from ordering something much more expensive where I won't be able to finish and have a great experience. She was very welcoming and always tried to provide me a healthier option at no cost. The restaurant is spacious, clean, and quiet. The TV wasn't on for some reason but I didn't mind that at all. It was Chinese new year so the lady provided me some dduks in celebration (what's in the pink dish). They also offer shik-hae, a traditional sweet Korean sweet drink which takes a whole day to make for free after your meal. Not many places offer this anymore and was pleasantly surprised. I was in the mood for Korean food so decided to go to Seoul Soondae. I had gotten takeout once before, but decided to try dining in for the first time. The menu isn't too too big, though there are some additional items posted on the walls. As the name of the restaurant suggests, they specialize in soondae (Korean blood sausage). We ordered the Soon Dae Jung Shik and Sullung Tang. The combination came with soondae and sliced meats, plus soup. Banchan were okay, radish and cabbage kimchi plus pickled chilies and garlic and dried tiny fish with pine and peanuts. Rice and soups were delicious. Soondae was tasty, though the sliced liver was a bit dry for me (I'm not the biggest fan of liver to begin with). Service was decent; though they don't have the best English we were able to communicate enough. The best part was the refreshing chilled sikhye (rice punch) at the end of the meal. Prices were fair, $53 before tips for this meal. Highly recommend! read more

The prices are much higher than in most places but the portion of meat with the sundae jungsheek is fair. We always got our meals Togo so I can only speak for take-out orders. if you're a kor-am that grew up around la/oc, this is def a nostalgic place for you. this particular night my mom and i were FIENDING for some soondae so we thought why don't we compare seoul soondae and the new moobongri since they're so close to each other?! genius lol. i've heard that the owners actually changed a while ago, but it still that same homey feel that i remember as a kid. they have better prices than MBR, with bigger portions and better service. the soondae tastes pretty much the same as i remember, more blood than noodles, which is my speed. the soondae jungsik comes with a whole ass plate of soondae, meats, a large side of soup, rice, and kimchi -- all for $36! the sweet old lady gave us a free shikhae too, which was perf to wash down our meal. the only cons would be that im pretty sure their soondae is frozen, so not as fresh, and the kimchi was a lil too ripe for my taste. but i'm probably gonna come back here over and over again. show this og spot some love, and try some authentic korean food!! read more

We found this place on yelp bc we were nearby and craving soondae and it did not disappoint!! The food was exactly what I think of when I think of Korean food and the portions were quite big. The restaurant itself is very lowkey. It seems like it's a family owned restaurant and they were really nice and very accommodating. For example, they added glass noodles to the ddukbokki free of charge :') I wish more people knew about this restaurant - I highly recommend! read more

I used to really like this place. My go-to spot for some take out jokbal (pigs feet) and soondae (blood sausage). Never had a problem until recently when I made an order for a large jokbal and large soondae. I drove 20 minutes to go and pick up the order. Paid for it with a credit card, picked the food up, and drove 20 minutes back home ready to serve the food to my entire family. Opened the to-go containers eagerly to eat and share the tasty food from Seoul Soondae. One bite of the jokbal and it tasted very wrong. Very sour and very wrong. And if you look at the photo, you can see the discolored undead like unappealing jokbal. You see lots of pink, not lots of brown. I called to see what went wrong, and they kept insisting they had no idea. Okay, sure I guess that can happen. I asked for a refund since I paid it with my credit card. They did not know how to process a refund, which meant I would have to go back and receive my refund in cash. It's sad and unfortunate that this place has become what it is now. If you dine here, I hope you don't experience what I did. Personally, I will be staying away from this place going forward. read more

Probably not, especially when I'm visiting LA where there is so many more options. My husband did not even think it was OK. He said it just was bleh. Asked for a side of pork feet with the soup. It was a small size, which is no problem, but it also didn't come with any lettuce or peppers or garlic. I asked whether it wouldn't come with any "ssam" (which is all of the above, plus the bean paste sauce). My family was craving soondae, and we've gone here many times in the past so we made the 40 minute drive to go satisfy our craving! Unfortunately the quality is no longer the same. Not sure if it's due to COVID, but the food is now terrible quality and the kimchi was rancid! I actually never knew kimchi could go rancid because it's already fermented.... (mind blown) but lo and behold when we got home and opened up the food to eat... the kimchi was white and slimy! Unfortunately for my Dad we didn't know the quality of the food had gone waAaaaayyyy down that he couldn't wait to eat so he ate couple pieces of soondae in the car on the drive home and ten minutes later got hives all over his body! Having already driven 40 minutes we called the store and told them that the kimchi was rancid and the soondae gave my dad hives, she replied that she checked the food before giving it to us, and that she was sorry we got a bad batch on accident. With a response like "I checked the food..." and "sorry we got a bad batch on accident".... with no refund or anything. I don't think I'll be coming here again because it sounds like they know the quality has gone down and are just checking to see if there is visible mold prior to customers picking up their food. Seoul Soondae has some really good Soondae (blood sausage) compared to other restaurants I have tried in LA Ktown. At other places, the Soondae may be too dry or gamey. Not at Seoul Soondae. Here it's their specialty, lightly moist with no gaminess and the texture is silky. Try the Soondae with some of their seasoned salt or salty shrimp sauce. They offer soup with Soondae, an entree of Soondae, or stir fried Soondae bokum. I had beef soup (Sullung Tang) with a side of Soondae as part of their soup combo. Granted Kbbq fans won't be flocking by to try Soondae but this is true authentic Korean food. If you tried blood sausage before in other cuisines and liked it, try the Soondae here. As much as I want to give them the benefit of a doubt because of the difficult times this COVID quarantine has put on all businesses, the quality of what we ordered to go was awful. Just like another reviewer stated ten months ago, we ordered soondae with liver and a ddukboki to go. The liver was really hard and dry. The soondae and liver both tasted really old. Ddukboki had zero flavor and we had to recook it at home and add ingredients to make it taste acceptable. On top of all this, my fiance got really sick later that afternoon and threw up like crazy. We didn't eat anything else all day so we're pretty sure it was from this. My fiance loves soondae but shes so traumatized she says she may never eat it again. We really think they are serving old stockpiles or something. For sure I will never come back here. Go elsewhere, even if you have to go out of the way to Ktown. read more

Like everyone says: hands down the best soondae in SoCal, better than the other locations in LA's Ktown. It's smoother and richer than the soondae you'll find in Korean markets. It's soft, hot, fresh, and has a good deep savory flavor from all the different cuts of meat used. No one's saying what the other meats are in the Soondae Combo, so I'll let the cat out of the bag. The long, white, chewy meat is PIG'S EAR. The other white meat that looks like bacon is, well, BACON aka PORK BELLY, that has been boiled and not smoked. The beef-like brown meat that kinda looks like beef but is chewier and has more of a snap to it is TONGUE. And last but definitely not least, the darkest and grittiest in texture, is LIVER. There. Now you know. If this hasn't deterred you from continuing to eat these lovely offals, then good for you. Speaking of offals, more and more people are getting into the offal craze, with the I (Heart) Offals logo, and fancy restaurants hosting "Offals Night" with fancy restaurant prices. Go ahead and pay $50 for an organ meat dinner. I'll spend $10 on my soondae, or on jokk bal (Pig's Feet dish) which, by the way, is the same thing as that fancy pig trotter dish that high profile chefs (eg Gordon Ramsay) are making. They're just slicing it thicker and pan searing it, but all in all the same. Seoul Soondae offers offals old school style: cheap and good. And clean, in their case. read more

Simply put: Hands down the best soondae in all of LA/OC. They have other locations, but I believe this is the original one. They make one-of-a-kind amazingly delicious soondae. Easily the best I've had. I would advise against venturing outside of soondae and soondae related items. If you're new to soondae, just stick to the soondae platters. Why? Cuz you should stick to their speciality! Btw, some of the Korean markets now carry the vacuum sealed version of Seoul Soondae in the refrigerated section; just look for the one with the red square logo.
